Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Valentine was working in the ER. She was on hour six out of six. Twelve hour shifts were always painful to complete. Not because they were tiring, oh no. Perhaps her human coworkers would become tired and agitated, but Val had impressive stamina thanks to her species type.
Pulling on a fresh pair of gloves, Valentine turned towards a patient with a very nasty wound on his leg. The great thing about it was the fact a large knife had 'magically' found itself there. Upon being questioned, the man turned patient covered up the story with an obvious lie: I fell on it.
"Alright Mr. Wright, we're going to remove the knife and stitch up your leg. Sounds good, does it not?"
A pleased grin curled at the corner of her lips as she grabbed hold of the knife with one hand. Suddenly looking nervous, the man began with a "Wait... aren't you gonna-" But before he could finish his sentence, Val yanked the knife out. Immediately she replaced the knife with gauze, placing pressure on the wound while the man gave a whimper. Surely it had been a little traumatizing for the poor man... but the splatter of blood was always a lovely thing for her to smell.
But yes, oh yes... did it ever make it hard for her to make through a twelve hour shift.
Deeply she sighed with a discontent that gave out an aura of being done with the evening. Hosted over her shoulder were three unconscious forms that moaned with every hard stride of Vala's booted feet. With every grunt she was tempted to smack them about a few more times before she reconsidered the idea. After what they'd gone through another strike from her fist might be enough to send them to an early grave. Rather Vala allowed herself another disgruntled sigh and tried to train her thoughts else where.
The evening had started off so well. With her latest class finished and thoughts of a warm bath followed by a hot meal in her head Vala had begun the trip home. Deciding to shave some time off her walk she'd decided to take a short cut through an alley that was adjacent to her neighborhood. The path was one that she often took when her mind was far to taxed from the day and wished for nothing more than soft bedding. After all the months of traversing the path nothing in the sightliest had ever gone wrong. This evening it seemed that the fates were conspiring against her.
Dulled from classes and thinking about nothing else than her cozy bed surrounded by blankets Vala hadn't taken notice of the looming figures ahead of her. Vala assumed they were merely thugs filled mostly with bark rather than any bite of course they didn't get to talk much. Before Vala could fully asses the situation three of men where laying on the ground while the fourth fled off into the night. Looking back Vala felt some regret at how badly she reacted. Tired and a tad grumpy her reflexes did most of the work before she knew what was really happening. Now her she was carrying the three she could find towards the hospital. From the sounds alone she was certain they had a few broken bones along with a few deep cuts that now bled deeply into her clothes.
At the feeling of the warm blood trickling over her shoulder Vala grunted with some heat. She had been so close. So close to shutting her eyes and being swallowed by her sheets. Had it not been for the guilt of nearly killing her attackers she'd be a lot happier right now. In the end she'd decided it was the best thing to do. With enough worries on her shoulders as it was she didn't need something else eating away at her while she slept... plus she'd get less sleep. Regardless her conscience would feel better and maybe these thugs would learn not to lurk in alleys at night, or at least not to get in her way.
Approaching the hospitals sliding doors Vala waited as they sunk back into the walls giving her access to the buildings depths. The bright lights of the hospitals insides were a warm welcome from the cool night air that had been trickling down her back. Now in the light of the building the small scuffle she'd taken part in was evident on her person. With her guard down and mind else where one of the four had managed to get a lucky strike across her stomach. Recently sharpened the knife had sheared through her shirt with ease but with her hardened skin it had bounced off without leaving a mark. Aside from a few patches being torn in her clothes and some dirt stains Vala felt as good as ever.
Standing in the small lobby with the three men bunched together on her shoulder Vala's eyes peered about till she saw a nearby woman that was busy working on a patient.
"Excuse me." Vala called out to the staff in a calm mono-tone voice.
"Can I just dump these three anywhere?" Vala questioned before releasing her grip as the limp thugs fell into a pile on the ground. "Eh... oh well. I got them here. Guess that works." With a shrug Vala rubbed her shoulder feeling the fresh blood that had soaked into her shirt beginning to seep over her finger tips.
"Hope they don't have any diseases." Muttering to herself Vala's gaze turned towards the woman again.
"You got this right?" Vala motioned towards the three men nonchalantly as she was getting ready to leave.
With a needle precariously gripped in one hand, and the other set next to Mr. Wright's wound, Val began to seal the nasty cut. What a waste of blood. But she knew no ordinary human would approve of her leaning over and licking it up. Nor would she ever forgive herself for swooping to that sort of low. A vampire should try and get a fresh supply, not lap at the blankets like a hungry dog.
Valentine had just finished with one patient when a sight she didn't truly expect appeared before her. A woman, adorned with black that contrasted her stunning blue eyes, was caring three men through the hospital's doors. The doctor walked over briskly, looking very neutral despite the smile that touched her lips. "We'd prefer if you didn't bloody the floors, darling. Makes it rather slippery to walk upon." It was a light joke despite the situation. It seemed too late. The lady in black had already dumped the men on the ground so she motioned quickly for other nurses and doctors to gather them, which they did in haste.
"Now where in the world would you find three injured men?" It was rhetorical. The woman before Valentine must have been with the TRS. Or she happened to be a skilled fighter who got cornered by these poor low lives. "Are you hurt?"
The inquiry was for the other woman's benefit as well as her own. If she could convince the woman in black to stay... perhaps she could leak some information from her, find out who she was. Valentine always had a burning curiosity when it came to beautiful women.
All Vala could do was give the lightest shrug of her shoulders at the bloody patches that were forming on the floor. What was done was done. As far as Vala was concerned she'd done her part. Hauling her three assailants for over ten blocks in the nights chill and all the while they were bleeding over her person; she was done. Having never done well in home-ec Vala was certain her clothes were beyond saving in their current condition. Her ruined clothes coupled with the fact that she was missing precious sleep hadn't done much to elevate her soured mood and it was apparent upon her face.
"Yea. I'm fine." Brushing a few strands of hair from her face Vala allowed herself a deep sigh.
"My clothes-" Gripping the hem of her shirt Vala tugged at the material as the slash in her shirt widened to expose her flat stomach and belly button.
"-not so much." Releasing her grip with little care Vala's gazed returned to the shimmering golden eyes of the doctor.
As their eyes met Vala's mind recoiled suddenly. There was something in the woman's gaze that put Vala on edge. This wasn't to say that the sensation was a foreboding one but created a yearning for knowledge. Like most people curiosity was a natural state that caused beings to be lured towards the unknown. Sometimes it was beneficial to unlock a new understanding. Other times it could lead to disastrous results. Either way something would be learned. Vala's belief on this was 'nothing ventured, nothing gained'. Of course when you could lift a tank as if it were a feather and had skin made of steel it was a tad easier for her to follow this ideology.
"Hm.... You wouldn't happen to have a spare shirt around here would you? While I don't mind the cold... walking around like this might bring your hospital more patients." Vala explained in her usually mono-tone voice.
While the city was a rather safe place considering all the destruction that was going on around the world it still wasn't the best idea for a young woman to walk the streets in torn clothes. If her luck had anything to say about it she was certain to run into another group of thugs on the way home. Although the fresh blood dripping from her shirt might be enough of a deterrent to keep most people at bay.
"If not, it's no big deal." Again Vala shrugged in a manner that showed she really didn't care one way or the other.
"Yes I can see that. What a shame" Valentine said, looking at the woman's clothes and tsking in disapproval. When the shirt was lifted, the vampire couldn't help herself but sneak a peak at the flat stomache being bared. It never hurt to look, did it?
When the shirt was released, Val took care to trail her eyes up the woman's body to meet her eyes. It was then that she saw a small jolt from the woman. Perhaps not physically, but it definitely seemed she noticed something. How interesting.
With the question asked, Valentine raised her eyebrow and then smiled, nodding her head. "You are in luck, my dear. Follow me." With that, Valentine turns and began to lead the women in black through the hospital. The passed storage units, hospital beds, and even laundry rooms, but never once stopped. Perhaps it would cause concern in the woman who followed, but Val had no ill intentions. She was simply leading this woman to the break room where Val kept her own spare clothes. They were much warmer and far more fashionable than any garb the hospital had to offer.
The woman's lingering gaze hadn't gone noticed from Vala as she lifted her shirt to expose her toned stomach. Filled to the brim with youthful bliss and beauty such looks weren't anything new to her. Since adolescence getting gawked at was just another thing she had gotten used to. At least the woman was professional enough or kind enough as to not make any unwanted comments. This wasn't to say that Vala didn't disapprove of being looked over by the woman. In her own respect the doctor was quiet beautiful even if something about her kept Vala on her toes.
"... alright." Responding with some uncertainty in her voice Vala followed the woman through the hospitals halls.
"Dear?" Vala questioned to herself as she kept her steady pace behind the woman.
Being gifted with her amazing abilities Vala had never found a need to enter the hospital before this point. Having skin as strong as diamond Vala hadn't experience grievous injury since her youth. Before her twelfth birthday she was like any other child in terms of biology. Cuts bled and falls left bruises. Now days that wasn't the case. Not even bullets could penetrate her flesh as they crumpled upon contact with her body. In the simplest terms Vala was a tank that could not be injured or at least she hadn't found something that could harm her so far.
Quietly the two of them walked through the hallways with the occasional soft conversation being heard over the doctors clanking shoes. Vala found that there wasn't much she wished to say. Rather her eyes gazed up and across the doors and halls they passed. The most time she had ever spent in a hospital was when she was a new born. All which she saw now was unfamiliar to her. Sure she had seen such places in televisions shows but they didn't do the building much justice. The thing that had caught her attention most of all was the sterile scent that clung to the air. Everything from the floor to the beds seemed to carry a scent of 'clean'. She couldn't say it was displeasing to her nose but it felt unnatural as if nothing could or should be so clean.
"It's much bigger on the inside." The words echoed through the empty hall without anything to cease their flow. Though she spoke aloud the words weren't really meant for anyone in particular. They were a statement and not something that needed to be answered.
The woman following her was not very talkative. She stayed quiet and simlpy decided to follow Valentine. The vampire pursed her lips, curious still but unsure if she should pry if the responses she had been given up to this point had been curt. However, they were already here, so Valentine figured the questioning could begin when they were alone in the staff room together.
Once in the room, Val ushered Vala inside before closing the door. This would allow them more privacy. The vampire sashayed to her locker, skillfully undoing the lock with a practiced hand, and began to speak as she looked through the clothes she kept in here.
"Indeed it is." Valentine replied with a small smile on her lips. After finding a black turtleneck in her bag, she turned on her heels and outstretched the fabric to the woman before her. "Here. It's cashmere."
The vampire waited for the woman to take the sweater before she would talk again. But when she did, it was a question that dripped with curiosity. "How did you dispose of three men while remaining untouched? Gifted, I take it?"
words 222 ● @vala ● was that a Doctor Who reference? haha
Pushing open the door to where the employee lockers were located Vala found herself hurried into the room as the doctor closed it behind her. The sudden haste of the woman caused a brief stirring within Vala. Quickly it faded as Vala thought it was merely her worn out senses from another long day. Keeping her stance nearby the door Vala took a moment to glance around the room as the doctor was busy working to open a locker. As expected the room was rather bland; a theme that seemed popular in the white washed hospital. Aside from the lockers that lined one of the walls there were some other furnishings. Plain counters, a coffee machine, a sleek fridge, a faded black couch, and a television that rested upon an oak table. Aside from its two new occupations the room was empty and had been for quiet some time. From the chill in the room and the lack of any scent of coffee told Vala they were probably the first visitors in the last few hours. "Kinda out of the way." Musing to herself Vala turned her attention towards the woman who had retrieved something from the locker. "Cashmere?" Vala parroted the word back as she took the dark clothing from the woman's hand.
The first thing Vala noted as her fingers touched the cloth was the silken texture it embedded upon her skin. Typically wearing whatever would fit and whose price didn't murder her wallet she'd never come anywhere near the high quality material before. Testing the fabric through her fingers Vala marveled at the garments craftsmanship. Eyes cast down at the shirt she pondered over if she should take it or not. "It would take me a year to save up to afford something like this." The words were for herself as she eyed the garment once more. It took a few seconds of deep thought before Vala would speak once again.
"Eh... thank you." Sheepishly the words came from Vala as she did her best to avoid eye contact. Unaccustomed to receiving gifts of a charitable nature she felt some what uncomfortable taking such a valuable item. Had the circumstances varied from what they were Vala was certain she wouldn't take the shirt... but that wasn't the case. "Huh.... Yeah.... I guess so. Think I punched one... and then kicked the other two." Replying to the woman's question Vala's eyes raised to look at the woman once more. "Can't say for certain though. It was dark and all happened so fast." Pondering out loud with a shrug Vala couldn't recall exactly what had happened. "And... I wouldn't say untouched." Lifting her own shirt once again Vala pulled attention to the gaping hole in the cotton material.
Taking a few steps towards the nearby couch Vala gently placed the cashmere shirt upon the arm rest. Gripping the base of her own shirt Vala pulled it upwards till it was over her head exposing the finely toned, and slim body underneath. Eventually untangling her hair from the confines of the torn shirt she tossed it on the couch as she went to pick up her new 'gift'.
"I guess I owe you one now, huh?" Vala muttered softly as she worked to find the proper wholes in the black turtle neck. "I don't have much cash... but I can get you a coffee or something...." Her words seemed uncertain as she voiced her thoughts out loud.
