Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
A notched arrow stationed itself in Xeno's boy, awaiting the moment when its master would set it loose. The archer's fingers remained perched on the thick string, calloused tips feeling the texture. Preparations were being made to proceed down their expected path while the elf stood guard near the doorway. The shuffling of the other unconscious hunter being picked up reached Xeno's ears, however, he never diverted his attention from carefully scouting the hallway until footsteps could be heard. Briefly, the white-haired half-fae glanced over his shoulder, noticing one of the hunters carrying two of the unconscious ones while the other carried a mere one. The heavyset ginger carried two, theoretically somebody who preferred using his enhanced strength whenever possible. Meanwhile, a skinnier, dark-haired man carried the other one and conveniently, the smallest of the unconscious hunters. The elf nodded at the pair, signalling that he believed it was time for them to proceed through the headquarters and to the gymnasium. He allowed the pair of hunters carrying their burdens through before quickly walking forward to take the point of the group.
[break][break]
As the only individual carrying a weapon, Xeno knew he should be expected to lead and defend the group. Nearby was the mysterious blond who he spared the responsibilities of carrying the unconscious hunters, partially because he believed the young man lacked muscle. Furthermore, his obvious ineptness in self-defence when Peter Pan attacked with the possessed hunters confirmed he was unlikely to be a hunter, apprentice or otherwise. The elf proceeded to lead, silently surveying their surroundings as they ventured further into headquarters. Blue eyes only strayed when his ears detected the blond's words. Another glance over the shoulder allowed Xeno to view the spectacle which involved the golden dust. A faint smile touched the hunter's lips, however, he remained silent as he slowed the group's pace to allow the part-fae's magic to function. When fatigue was removed from the situation, the elite hunter appeared quite pleased with the current circumstance. A soft chuckle escaped his lips as he glanced at the blond to smile at him.
[break][break]
"And the sergeant thought you were a handful," he teased. "Anywaaays, what is your name, kid?"
[break][break]
Despite starting a casual conversation, it was obvious the elite hunter remained alert to their surroundings. Blaring alarms made listening for enemies nearly impossible, thus lightening the mood with some small talk sounded like medicine to calm the group. Throughout their walk towards the stairs, Xeno carefully peered through the hallways, even glancing behind them all while keeping his arrow notched.
"If you stopped moving so much this would be easier." The two bickered as William struggled to get a grasp on the man's hip. The hunter clearly uncomfortable with the blond's nonchalant attitude toward invading personal space. Even if it was for his own benefit. "Stop being such a baby.. it won't kill you or anything." He said to the man in a quiet, but annoyed tone. Hoping not to draw much attention.
Yet it seemed slightly too late. As William turned his attention back toward the hallway he couldn't help but notice the elf glancing over his shoulder at the two. Embarrassed he quickly pulled his hand away from the man. The magic disappearing as soon as their connection broke. Letting out a slight nervous laugh in the process. As if acting oblivious to the strange magic that had been flowing out of him just moments before. Leaving the red headed hunter with a slightly bewildered look across his face. As the magic had relieved him of his heavy burden, but also had some much less obvious side effects as well.
Not long after the elf decided to chime in. Causing the young man to jump slightly as he began to speak. Prepared to be scolded or bombarded with questions. After all he was technically a prisoner according to TRS records. Not to mention the fact that the man obviously knew the Sargent. Meaning he likely knew about William's little break out. Yet what he received instead was akin to praise. Causing a slight red hue to tint the blond's cheeks. "I-its uh.. William. William Farris, sir."
The relationship between Xeno and Sergeant Harris was strictly professional, but as a hunter in her unit, and furthermore an elite, he was informed about the incident. Alas, the elf was not bothered by the thought, in fact, he was somewhat humoured when informed of the incident. Everything turned out fine, thus he could reasonably chuckle about the situation, right? Either way, Xeno would discover those pangs of amusement when thinking about the occurrences on that patrol. There were no plans to reprimand the boy, he appeared harmless considering the purple-haired man was attempting to murder him. If the elite hunter were to guess, he would assume the blond was a rank not associated with the on-field teams because of how defenseless he appeared in that instance. Furthermore, their predicament became more interesting with the manner his comrades resisted the boy's offer of assistance through magic. When the white-haired hunter finally requested the young man's name, the golden dust of his fellow part-fae's magical energy disappeared. The elf's blue eyes remained locked on hallway after his inquiry was given, somebody needed to remain alert after all.
[break][break]
A few moments after being provided the name, Xeno gave a nod of acknowledgement before saying, "I see..."
[break][break]
Gradually, the group was closing in on the stairs where the elf paused. Concern drifted over his brow for a brief flash before a cocky smile twisted onto his face. There was a moment of thought while Xeno gazed down the stairs, knowing the small space lacked any rooms where they could fall back too.
[break][break]
"Perhaps you guys should follow me slowly down here. With these damn alarms it will be hard to know what's down there until we get there. So if you come down, stop at the landing," Xeno explained.
[break][break]
After those words, the courageous hunter began heading down the stairs, steps slow as his fingers remained hooked onto the string. Breath was slowed to a calming pace as he headed down to the landing, pausing to observe the empty, albeit, war-torn corridor. The elite hunter's blue eyes narrowed as he pulled back the string and slowly proceeded down to the ground floor. As his first foot collided with the hallway, he heard a sharp growl. Reflexes kicked into overdrive as Xeno's body turned in the creature's direction, fingers loosening as a tiger-like terror launched in his direction. Without hesitation the arrow rocketed through the air and embedded into the creature's shoulder while Xeno pulled back. Claws were out as the mutated tiger swiped and successfully cut into the elf's leg. A grunt of pain breached the white-haired man's lips, however, he was quick to grab the dagger. Despite the pain, the dagger was trusted into the creature's neck, claws nearly piercing again. A loud thump echoed through the hallway as the tiger fell before turning into black dust. Meanwhile, the archer leaned against the wall to assess the damages.
[break][break]
"Dammit," the elf grumbled.
[break][break]
The white-haired man's upper leg had a trio of nasty gashes which oozed blood. The injuries could undoubtedly be worse, but with every passing minute, their situation became more challenging. First the unconscious hunters, not he managed to get himself injured when he was expected to fend off attackers. Wasn't this just peachy?
Nervously William continued along with the small squad of hunters. Unsure if the elf was just being polite or if he had actually intended the compliment. Regardless it had made the young fae feel better. Making him feel like he wasn't quite such a burden to the group after all. Even if he wasn't any help in a fight.
Slowly the pack made their way forward in silence. Doing their best not to arouse suspicion. When there could be an enemy around any corner. Until finally arriving at the narrow doorway to the stairwell. And as the archer began speaking everyone paused. A small look of dread seemed to come over the rest of the group with his words. Clearly upset they would be loosing their main offense. But begrudgingly accepting, due to the clear and present danger of the situation.
"We'll wait here until it's safe."
One of the hunters replied as Xeno disappeared through the door, and down the stairs. Yet as he left William felt uneasy about his absence. His gut telling him something bad was going to happen. And not a moment later the sounds began to echo up from the stairs. Low growls, a clash, grunts, and a thump. Yet Xeno never replied, only silence. The noises sending a cold chill down his spine. Quickly he spun around to face the other hunters with a panicked look in his eyes. "W-we have to go help him! He could be in danger, we nee-" He began to shout out frantically. Until he was abruptly cut off by the hunter whom hadn't noticed the exchange of magic from before.
"What we need to do is get out of here kid! We can find another way! Come on!" He yelled before lurching forward, and grasping the young blond's shoulder. Almost instantly there was a bright flash as the hunter was sent reeling backwards. The air filling with a hazy cloud of golden dust. The hunter quicky reached up to hold the side of his head. Staggered by the short, but potent dosage of magical energy.
"I...I... IM GOING TO HELP HIM!" William shouted with determination. Not even giving the other hunters time to retort as he quickly ran through the door and began rushing down the stairs. Quietly peaking through the doorway on each floor on the way down in search of the elf. Yet when he finally reached the right floor he almost wished he hadn't. When he peaked through the door he felt his heart sink. As Xeno was clearly there, but he wasn't in good shape. It was obvious he had been in a fight, and had clearly won. Yet whatever it was didn't go down without a fight. Having left several profusely bleeding holes in the man's leg. "S-Sir!" William yelled as he barged through the door, quickly running up to the injured man. Yet when he finally arrived all he could do was look at the wound. Desperately trying to think of some way to help."H-here, we can make a bandage out of this.." He said as he started pulling his shirt off.
Terrors were a dastardly creature to exist on Enki's magnificent Earth, evident by their twisted bodies and their work for a malicious cause. Animals were helplessly transformed into war machines under Zeredah's rule, thus Xeno was displeased as he leaned heavily against the walls of the damaged medical ward. Blood oozed from the trio of gashes, warm and sticky as it trickled down his leg, making his pants cling to his flesh. Pain throbbed in his injured thigh, a grimace being evident on the elf's face as he attempted to focus through the pain. Three unconscious and another wounded, the escape to the gymnasium was becoming questionable, to say the least, however, the elite hunter's mind was searching for another possible solution. Alas, the pain manifested hesitation to speak as he grated his teeth. Stopping the bleeding was crucial, unfortunately, the dangerous nature of the situation would make accomplishing the task difficult. Shouts and footsteps echoed from the stairwell, Xeno's slowly crawling to gaze at the mouth. The heavy doors opened slightly, the elf noticing the blond boy from before, who promptly barged in.
[break][break]
The elite hunter listened to his words, flinching as he sunk to the ground. Clearly, the blond was attempting to be helpful, but currently, he required everybody else from their group to join them.
[break][break]
"Hold on a second, kid. Did nobody else come with you? Cause you need to call 'em down here right now. I wouldn't doubt if the other stairwells are guarded," Xeno commanded him. "Now keep your shirt off and go get 'em. I can handle myself a bit longer. Didn't get the red colours to die from a few cuts."
[break][break]
In the elite hunter's eyes, the cuts created from the terror were meagre, nothing life-threatening; even though they were large. Slowly, Xeno's right hand reached up, undoing the clasp of his cloak. It fell behind him, bunching at his lower back. Carefully, the elf lifted himself, retrieving the cloak from beneath him before grabbing his knife. Despite being in close proximity to the medical ward, nobody could be certain what supplies survived the initial attack. Promptly, he brought the knife's blade to the fabric's hood, tearing through it to leave the cape section of the dark red cloak. Limited time was provided, the destination hanging in Xeno's mind as he quickly handled his wound. The hood was folded down over the cuts, promptly absorbing blood. Only moments later did the elf wrap the remainder of the cloak around his damaged legs, pulling the ends tight. A flinch of pain crossed his countenance, but he kept tightening it until it applied a suitable amount of pressure to his injuries. Once completed, the ends were tied together, creating a meagre, but thick "bandage".
William had gone into complete panic mode as he rushed through the staircase doors. Only focused on one thing. Which was to aid the half fae however he could. As he approached the man he began to frantically try to remove his shirt. Fumbling with the buttons on the still damp fabric. His mind racing to any little bit of medical knowledge he had. As he knew the best thing to do in the current situation was to at least cover the wound. Yet just as he had managed to undo the first few buttons he was quickly stopped. Xeno's voice grabbing his attention almost instantly. Causing him to look up at the man.
Yet his words made William feel smaller than ever. As he was scolded for abandoning the rest of their team. Even if it was to come offer aid. Not to mention the fact he wasn't really being all that helpful in the first place, as he couldn't even heal the man, and barely knew a thing about first aid. Plus how much help could he even offer when he couldn't even touch the man. He visibly retreated as his hands fell away from his shirt. His head dropping low as the hunters words sunk in. "I'm Sorry.. I wasn't thinking. I just..." He said softly, slowly rising from his kneeling position. All the while diverting eye contact away from the hunter. "I'll find them sir.." He said turning back toward the staircase. Jogging quietly back toward the entrance.
Yet just a few meters short the door burst open. The two hunters from before stepping through with worried looks on their faces. The suprise causing William to fall backward into his butt. "There he is! Quick, grab the damn kid. You know how much trouble we will get in if we let a prisoner escape in all this chao- SIR!" The man said as they stepped through the door. Both quickly dashing past the blond on the floor and turning their attention to the wounded hunter, whom had completed patching himself up by this point. "Sir what happened?! Do you need assistance?" Both men began interrogating their senior officer with questions. All the while William quietly made his way back to his feet. Happy to see the two men were safe. Yet upset that he hadn't even managed to locate them on his own. Slowly he made his way back to the group, standing silently behind the two whom had seemingly forgotten his existence after noticing their injured comrade.
Throbbing leg pain, two idiotic hunters refusing to even check through the windows of the stairwell doors and few options remaining. Unfortunately, the cynical elf was not surprised by their lack of concern towards his physical health. Under most circumstances, most individuals merely cared about themselves and thus, Xeno understood why his cohorts decided to leave him ironically bleeding in the place designed to tend his wounds. Precious minutes were ticking by, and admittedly, the elite hunter believed their only hope left was to band everybody together and cross over to the gymnasium. Alas, the following actions were interrupted as TRS hunters burst through the doors, mentioning a prisoner. The elf's actions paused briefly, however, he knew completing his impromptu bandage was crucial. Moves were hastily done, tightness around the gashes being manifested as he silently listened to the exchange of words. Fortunately, the pair were the two they were searching for, however, they appeared more keen on arresting William opposed to getting everybody out of the situation safely. Quiet reigned as even as Xeno was interrogated, the archer narrowing his eyes at the pair of hunters.
[break][break]
"A terror happened... it is a damn Assembly attack, what else would attack me?" He remarked with some sarcasm before adding, "And you decided to send down a defenceless kid before you came down? How about you make yourselves useful and see if there is something we can use to get everybody who is unconscious to safety. You can leave 'em here for now. We're in the medical ward, so I bet you can find somethin'."
[break][break]
There was a stern tone to Xeno's voice, the arrival of his comrades failing to lighten his cynical thoughts for the time being. While they referred to William as a prisoner, the elf knew firsthand how incapable the young boy was; he would be lucky to fight off a fly. As the pair set down their cargo and scurried to procure anything large and with wheels, Xeno slowly adjusted himself, hand wrapping around his bow. Both hunters could tell the elite was reprimanding them for lacking the courage the blond held.
[break][break]
"Come over here kid," he requested, voice quieter this time. "Grab the radio from my belt and see what you can find out."
[break][break]
The device was forgotten in the moment of injured panic, however, it would prove to be useful. Gathering information on what was occurring beyond the walls was significant, and prisoner or not, Xeno would never carelessly hand his precious bow over to another individual. Alyx would dislike having somebody else's hands all over her.
William felt more deposed than ever as he stood on the outskirts of the group. The hunters blocking his way to the half fae. All the while having shifted their focus entirely from apprehending him. Instead trying to kiss up to the man they had tried to abandon moments earlier. Only now coming to aid the two after having lost the blond. They frantically tried to garner his attention, only to be met by a rather cold response from the hunter. Causing both of the men to stumble over their words. Not quite expecting to be called out for their cowardice. "I-its not our fault sir. The kid.. he ran down her on his own. Plus he zapped me with something and.." He desperately spouted out excuses. Yet the cold glare of the hunter silenced him. Causing the man to turn and proceed to follow his comrade in searching for supplies. But not before casting a rather upset glare in William's direction.
Yet there was no response from the young man. Resolved to listen to the hunters even if they didn't like him. As he had caused enough problems for them already. And as the two began to search around William began to carry on after them. Feeling like the order was directed at the lot of them. Yet Xeno spoke up again shortly after, causing him to stop in his tracks. Nervously he turned around. Still averting his gaze from the man as he approached. "Yes sir?" He said hesitantly. Yet when Xeno continued William only found himself more confused. As he couldn't believe the man. Even after his track record of constant error the hunter still tried to give him some sort of responsibility. He gave a slight nod in response. Unsure of the man's reasons for trusting him.
With a shaky hand he snatched the device off the man's waist. Holding it close to his chest as he messed with the various knobs on top. Various levels of static coming in as he flipped through the channels. Yet like before his technical experience was limited. Leaving him to try his best to pick up any signal he could find. "I should have told you..." He said quietly, standing next to the hunter as the elf steadied himself. "Just because I can't leave... it's not like I asked for this. It doesn't make me..." He muttered quietly. Yet before William could continue the radio suddenly came to life. Spewing out garbled speech.
~~~KRRRSSHHHHHH---- HEAV.. losse- ~~~KRRRRSSSSSS~~ Structural damages reported on the first through fourth fl- ~Ssshhhhhhhhh~ All remaining perso.... ~KRRRRRRRRSSSSSHHHHHHHHHH~ -the gym.
Excuses immediately escaped the mouths of Xeno's fellow hunters, prompting the elite to narrow his stunning blue eyes further as more were provided. A hunter's role was to protect citizens against the threat provided by the Assembly of Phantoms, not neglect somebody merely because they feared the weighty consequences of fighting the enemy. A cowardly TRS hunter would be completely useless in their efforts to defeat Zeredah and claim victory in this long-lasting war against her monsters. Admittedly, the archer was only pleased when they obeyed orders and scurried down the hallway in search of something to assist their present situation. While they searched the hallways, Xeno commanded the blond to come fiddle with the TRS radio. Once the young man plucked it from his belt, the elf listened while keeping his bow primed and ready for possible combat. Earlier, the connection was downed, however, the elite hunter could always hope the scouts got everything functional again; he would not doubt the Assembly was attempting to keep their communications limited. When William mentioned telling him something, Xeno's eyes briefly glanced at the blond before his attention focused back on the hallway.
[break][break]
Before the prisoner could conclude his words, the radio showed limited signs of life. The garble of words mixed with radio static hardly created concise sentences, but the limited words nonetheless provided clues to the occurrences around them. A soft sigh escaped Xeno's mouth, the elf hoping they used those few moments of the proper radio connection to call back hunters on the field.
[break][break]
"I hope they called some hunters back... some of us are bound to still be on a mission when this shit happened," Xeno mumbled. "As for what you are, don't worry about it. We're all trying to survive right now. It isn't about what you are at the moment and if the higher-ups nag me about it, I will straight-up tell them I didn't give damn. You're stuck in the same crappy situation. Besides, you can't be that bad if they aren't lockin' you up in the cells downstairs."
[break][break]
Genuinely, Xeno could hardly care about William being labelled as a prisoner. While it manifested a wariness towards the blond, the white-haired hunter could accept that their goals were mutual. Survive the mayhem with as little injury as possible. The sounds of wheels squeaking on the tile floor breached through the alarms, Xeno glancing over to witness as his fellow hunters rolled a gurney. Slight relief breached the elite hunter's face as they drew closer.
[break][break]
"Okay, load everyone up. Might be a little packed, but we don't have many options now," Xeno stated.
[break][break]
Quickly, the pair of hunters lifted their unconscious comrades onto the gurney, packing them close. A few extra moments of sitting were spared while the job was being completed. Minutes passed until everybody who was incapacitated was loaded, the hunter's eyes locking on the elite. Slowly, the elf rose from his position, movements shaky as he gradually lifted himself off the floor. The archer's face twisted into a painful grimace as the wound on his leg screamed a complaint to his movements. Deep breaths were taken as he leaned a shoulder against the wall before steadying himself. His injury was a hindrance, however, the elf was determined to move.
William stood there listening to the cackle of the radio echo through the halls, paired with the constant ring of the alarm. The brief gaps of voices making him feel uncomfortable. As it just continued to add to the uncertainty of the situation. He frowned slightly as he looked down at the device. The signal going back to static just like before. So he continued to try his best to receive any further transmissions, continually flipping through the different frequencies in Hope of another response.
The comment from Xeno causing him to try harder, knowing their situation was becoming more dire the less they knew about the assault on the building. Yet what he wasn't expecting was the man to continue talking. Drawing the blond's attention up from the device. As Xeno said something he wasn't expecting at all. Instead of being upset, or angry toward the young fae. He was instead quite nice. Grouping the young man in with the other hunters as if saying titles were less important than the situation at hand.
William's hands holding the radio began to shake once more. As he felt a strange sensation welling up inside him. Though this time it want fear. But a determination that he was feeling. "T-Thank you sir.." He said, holding back slight tears. Yet their moment didn't last long. As the other hunters had finally returned. Wheeling a gurney toward the two. And proceeded to stack the unconscious hunters as carefully as possible on top of the medical device. It only took a few minutes to get everyone ready. The pair of hunters taking their position at one end of the gurney, eyes glancing over to their superior as they awaited instructions.
In unison with their looks William turned his attention back to the elf as well. The young blond still beside the elite hunter, watching as the man struggled to get into a standing position. Yet as Xeno groaned and looked as if he was about to fall William rushed forward. "SIR! Please be careful." He said stopping just short of the man. Giving him a rather worried look, eyes darting toward the wound on his leg. He knew there was nothing he could do to heal the man. His magic being borderline useless when it came to anything practical. As well as the fact that he couldn't even offer his shoulder for support. Yet that didn't make him completely useless.
"S-Sir..." He said, slowly extending one hand. Holding it open toward the hunter. "I can't heal you... But. This might help." He said hoping the man would take his hand. Though oftentimes people found the side effects of his magic unpleasant, in a situation like this it could actually be useful. The intoxicating feeling acting like a mild painkiller of sorts. Yet though it would make the hunter feel better it would do nothing to actually help his wound. And in fact could even make things worse, if the man were to overexert himself.
Concerns about William's alignment as a prisoner hardly existed in Xeno's mind, solely because of everybody objectives being fixated on something mutual, survival. Nobody wanted to die by the hands of the Assembly of Phantoms, thus those present in their current situation appeared content with working together to avoid the haunting grasp of death breathing down their necks. When thanked, Xeno merely provided a nod of acknowledgement while he observed the hallway, watching carefully until his fellow hunters returned. Rising from the tiled floor of the medical ward proved extremely difficult, intense pain spiking in his wounded leg. A single hand reached back, hanging Alyx until his back while he hauled himself off the ground. Narrowly, Xeno managed onto his feet, his right hand using the wall to provide a moment of rest after the painful endeavour. Concern was shown, however, the elite hunter remained silent as he waited for the pain to numb down. The elf's eyes flitted around the scene, noticing the dust mingled with splatters of red. It was nothing significant, but Xeno was plenty aware the precious red paint came from the wound on his leg.
[break][break]
Silence reigned, broken when surprise flared as the blond offered assistance. Worrisome countenances drew on the faces of his fellow hunters, both clearly wary of trusting the prisoner. Unfortunately, their situation was rather dire considering how circumstances only appeared to worsen over time. Hesitantly, he took William's hand, the strategy perhaps reckless, but seemingly needed considering the large gash on his leg. Despite the effects of the magic, Xeno cleared his throat and prepared to speak.
[break][break]
"Okay... Let's move... if we get ambushed bad, you guys run for it... I'll do what I can, but... the most I can do is hobble on a bum leg," Xeno mumbled out.
[break][break]
His movement would be restricted, even as the horrendous gradually began numbing the longer he held William's hand. Confusion entered the elf's gaze as he glanced at the mysterious blond. Inside his head, everything grew slightly fuzzy, nothing damaging, but similar to the intoxicated thought-process discovered with alcohol or the consumption of certain medicines. Fortunately, the painful sensation from the wound waned slightly, allowing Xeno to steady himself without the assistance of the wall. A grimace graced his face because of the expected pain, however, the feeling was desensitized compared to the original state. No complaints escaped the white-haired hunter's lips, the magical assistance acting as a painkiller, even possessing similar side effects from taking those types of pills. After a few moments, Xeno moved forward, limping in a desperate attempt to avoid damaging the wounded area further. The burly man who previously carried two hunters wheeled the gurney meanwhile the other hunter prepared himself to assist with the defensive aspect. Everybody was hoping to escape, to taste the glory of survival.
William knew that he couldn't do much to convince the novice hunters that his intentions were pure. Having already been a little bit of a hassle for the two to control before. Not to mention the unfortunate fact of his status within the TRS. But he desperately wanted to try and help whatever way he could. Even if he would be judged for doing so. He waited patiently as Xeno struggled to his feet. Watching with concern, and ready to catch the man if he were to fall. Regardless of effecting him with magic or not. Yet it seemed he wouldn't have to as the elf steadied himself. Causing William to let out a sigh of relief. Happy that the wound perhaps wasn't as severe as he had thought. Yet he knew the man was still in pain. And likely would have trouble maneuvering from this point forward.
It was in that moment that William realized what he could do to help. He could use his magic. After all he had relieved the fatigue of the other hunters before. And pain wasn't too far off from that, so he figured it was worth a shot. So he slowly he offered his hand out to the man. Hell, even if he was able to remove a fraction of the pain he would feel satisfied. He knew there were downsides. Not only would the other hunters likely object. But there was always the chance that the man could injure himself further. Wether it be from the confusion of his newly impaired state. Or from causing the already existing wound distress. Regardless he was determined to at least offer his aid.
Yet before the other hunters had time to protest William felt a warm grip envelop his hand. He let out a small gasp as a warm light began to surround their hands. The air filling with small gold speckles that drifted off the young man with a weightlessness. Energy drifting through his arm and passing into the hunter. As Xeno spoke William did his best not to squirm at the sensation. His focus turned more on limiting the amount of energy passing into the man. As he wasn't exactly sure what would qualify as a 'painkiller' level dosage of his magic. Instead just hoping to wing it.
"I'm sorry I can't offer more aid sir. B-but you seem strong. I'm sure something like this wouldn't put you down." He said trying to offer some words of comfort as the group began to move once more. Yet as they continued forward the group couldn't help but feel uneasy. The alarm still ringing continuously, now paired with the steady squeak of wheels on tile. Yet beyond that, the floor seemed un-naturaly quiet for a place that had just been attacked.
The blond's magic was satisfactory enough in diminishing the painful sensations shooting into Xeno's muscles from the unfortunate injury. The significance hardly mattered considering the amount of pain the elf felt previously, although, it compared nothing to when he lost his eye. There was emotional pain when his brother used his knife and threw away their family bond and joined the dreaded Assembly of Phantoms. Either way, Xeno appreciated the subtle numbing which made his wound more tolerable. Despite the subtle pain easement, Xeno moved cautiously, the circumstance of his injury potentially getting worse with each movement. Complaints were hushed, everybody silently moving once the wounded elf was prepared to hobble his way down the hallway. Wheels squeaked as they rolled over tiled floors, barely noticeable under the consistent screeching of alarms. Red lights flashed throughout the hallway, coating the dull-coloured walls and making a menacing scene. The sounds of battle were limited, the elf's blue eyes glancing around consistently. The hunters kept caution, their alert mindsets observing their surroundings.
[break][break]
Pace through the hallway was gradual because of Xeno's injury, thus there was plenty of time to assess ahead for danger. The smaller hunter walked in front of the gurney, eyes glancing around the corridor, prepared for danger. As they moved, Xeno heard William's words, his eyes glancing to the mysterious boy. He offered a shrug to him.
[break][break]
"Been through worse, that's damn certain," Xeno responded in a low grumble.
[break][break]
With those words, Xeno proceeded to slowly follow behind his fellow hunters. One hand remained grasped around William's while the prepared to possibly grab Alyx should she be required. Alas, his thoughts were slightly distracted by those of his brother, the man who's hatred grew great enough for him to bring a knife to his face and claim his eye. Already, Xeno knew if he ever saw his brother again, a battle would ensue and he would be determined to reign victorious.
Concern remained evident on the young blond's face as the group continued to make slow progress forward. Happy they could make progress at all thanks to his help. The wound on Xeno's leg undoubtedly slowing their pace. Yet William was grateful that was the extent of his wounds. Unsure if his magic would be able to help anything more extreme. He wanted to believe the odds were stacked in their favor. After all they had three hunters among their numbers. The most capable of which was essentially glued to his hand. Yet that didn't calm the unease William was feeling.
It was almost as if he had eaten something that was still alive. His stomach churning involuntarily with each step. Unsure if it was caused by the constant ring of the alarm. The lights. Or the smells of battle in the once sterile medical bay. But he couldn't help but feel like something was off. When Xeno spoke up he only nodded in response. Too preoccupied with the odd feeling he was having. Almost as if something foreign was building up within him. And though he was doing his best to hide his discomfort there were some obvious signs. His face had gone slightly pale, his breathing slowing. And his grip on the hunters hand had tightened slightly. All things that could easily be chalked up to fear. Yet William wasn't quite so sure. after all he had been afraid plenty of times before. And never once had it felt like this.
Yet before he could dwell on it any longer the group found themselves approaching the end of the hallway. The path branching off in a T. Leaving the pack stuck there for a moment. Unsure how to continue forward when anything could be down either corner.
Everything was the sign of the disaster, or perhaps, the aftermath. The radio was dysfunctional, theoretical from damages accomplished on the tower. Each step seemed somewhat blind without the assistance of scouts, the radio and functional cameras available to the group. Senses and their skills were the only things they could depend on since everything else was not operational unless the scouts managed to repair everything. Sirens blared, drowning out the idle buzz of Xeno's radio as they walked through the hallways.
Walls were painted red by the lights, Xeno glancing up, watching the flash for a mere second before flinching and glancing away, however, his slowed movements were not ceased. Everybody seemed tense, frightened, uncertain, but prepared to face whatever obstacle they passed. Survival, the ultimate goal, was their fixation as they proceeded. The elf fixated on the path ahead, his attention only wavering when the grip around his hand tightened. First, the elite hunter's brilliant blue eyes glanced at their connected hands before glancing at William's face.
Worry flashed on the elf's face as he spared a few moments to observe the part-fae's expression. The frown on Xeno's face deepened as he narrowly noticed the paled face in the red emergency lights.
"You okay, Will?" He asked quietly and further gave the kid a nickname.
Gradually, they approached a T-shaped intersection with the Hunter Missions bulletin board. There were two separate directions, one leading to the relaxation rooms, cafeteria and scouting areas while the other led to the sparring arena. A soft sigh escaped the elf's lips as he gazed down the sparring area path.
[break][break]
"We need to get to the gym... The fastest way is through the doors by the sparring area," Xeno stated.
The elite hunter was unaware if the path to the gymnasium was guarded, especially since they would have to traverse outside to arrive in the safety area. With a frown, they turned towards the hallway leading to the sparring grounds, everybody preparing to head down the corridor.
