Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
If he wasn't panicked before then William definitely was now. He had felt confused at first when the new agents had barged into his room. Considering that perhaps the archer had called for backup. Or they had managed to show up just in the nic of time. Yet they all seemed to have that same glazed over expression the first agent had. And as one latched on to him his suspicions were confirmed. Causing him to quickly plant his heels and try to tug himself back. Yet the attempt seemed hopeless. As the agents grip became stronger each moment. Causing William to begin to slide forward despite his kicking and screaming.
Just as he was pulled narrowly through the door he glanced past the agent. Only to see the purple haired man still standing there in the hallway rather gleefully. Actually pleased that he had managed to drag more unfortunate agents into the predicament. Yet his view of the man was quickly interrupted by a flash of movement. As Xeno appeared along side the agent pulling him and slammed something into the side of his head. Though thanks to William's magic he didn't seem to go down. Only becoming staggered for a moment as he seemed to register the blow. Yet a moment was all William needed to finally release himself from the man's grip. Sending himself stumbling back a few feet.
Ryker watched as the TRS agent attempted to pull William out of the room. Xeno had rushed towards them, using the pommel of his dagger against the TRS agent. Though he was hit, he only staggered for a moment before attempting to go towards William once more. He had noticed they were fleeing back into the room, giving him reason to believe they planned on escaping from the window. Well if I can't capture him like I intended, death is the only option for the whole lot. He thought to himself, controlling the last TRS agent as he created water in an attempt to flood the room. He would then rush down the hall, heading towards the prison because that had been on his to do list. Once there, he'd free the AP that were still loyal and kill those who had betrayed AP. He came across one cell that he knew for sure had betrayed them. He created darkness in his hand before reaching into the cell, preparing to kill the brown hair man that laid on his bed, clearly ignoring him. "Are you going to stay there all day?" He asked, waiting for something interesting to happen.
Sharply, Xeno had thrust the dagger's pommel into the side of the TRS hunter's head, however, it failed down the magically empowered man. A brow raised, confusion surfacing as the hunter merely staggered, registering the blow, but not yielding to it. The attempt to knock his fellow hunters unconscious to rescue them from this fate was evidently going to be more difficult than initially believed. Fortunately, the man’s grasp on the blond stranger was released from the abrupt smack to his head. Hastily, the elf retreated through the door's threshold a few paces, expecting to be required to hold his ground. Knuckles turned a pale white because of Xeno’s tight grip around the handle as he prepared for a follow-up attack. The elf planned on blocking the doorway to keep the unconscious hunters safe and the blond man. Abruptly, water flowed from the man's hands and into the room, knocking Xeno back a few steps. The demon was evidently using the other possessed hunter's water manipulating abilities against them, the room slowly filling despite the wide-open door. An uttered swear escaped Xeno's mouth as he hastily sprinted forward, breaking through the water and slamming a shoulder into the water manipulating hunter.
[break][break]
The purple-haired man had disappeared, the servant being left behind to handle them while he went about his business; Xeno assumed at least. Dagger in hand, the elf made another attempt to smack the pommel into the water manipulator's head, knocking him unconscious and leaving the more durable one left. Hastily, Xeno rushed him and attempted to slam the pommel into the man's head, hoping he could succeed this time. Peter Pan could be handled later, for now, protecting and successfully escorting both TRS members from the room and into the gymnasium.
Finally freed from the man's grasp all William could do was try to steady himself. His feet kicking underneath him as he peddled backward. Finally coming to a wobbly stop after a few moments. His chest rising and falling heavily with panicked breaths. Sure the agent had only been holding him for a few moments. But he could never be too sure when it came to these things. As his touch could potentially be more dangerous than some blessings. His magic often enhancing whatever traits the recipient already had. And for the man in front of him, it had seemed to make him much more resilient than the others.
Having taken Xeno's first attack the man did seem dazed though. Having to retreat toward the other agent under control. Which caused William's savior to rush in for another assault. Clearly not giving the two possessed agents time to regroup. Yet something stopped the elf, water to be more precise. As a sudden splash seemed to crash against the man, sending a back blast toward William. As if the sprinklers before hadn't been enough. Now he was completely soaked. His attention turning toward his now dripping clothes. "How ru-" He began to say. But he had forgotten to pay attention to the clearly more pressing situation. As Xeno evaded the stream to counterattack, William had completely forgotten he was still standing in the path. Being caught squarely in the chest by the rushing water. And sending him flying backward into the wall.
~~Rriiinnnggggggggg~~ His eyes seemed to open and close heavily for a few moments as he tried to figure out what just happened. His head feeling like it was full of bells. His vision blurred. Watching as the bow welding elf dropped the final agent with a swift blow. With one hand he reached up to rub at the side of his head. Wincing as he could feel quite the lump beginning to form. Now sopping wet and bruised he let out a rather dissatisfied groan. Knowing he shouldn't have expected to get out of the situation completely unscathed.
Picking himself back up was more difficult than he expected. The floor now being covered in water and Ash. He actually had to be careful as he made his way back to his feet. His attention turning back toward the man whom had taken down several agents. "Is he gone?" William said cautiously. Slowly making his way toward the door and the man now standing in the hallway. As he began to step through he shot a cautious glance both directions. Making sure there wasn't anyone or anything else standing around waiting to pounce.
The dangerous situation Xeno was placed into could have a variety of outcomes, however, he was determined to receive the best possible one. It was inevitable considering his skill, the TRS had a reason to promote him to an elite status other than his years of service. Removing the water manipulator from the equation proved to be an easier task, Xeno simply dodging a powerful stream of water. Death by drowning in a room would not be the unfortunate fate of the elven hero and his band of helpless citizens. Alas, his abrupt dodge resulted in the blond being sprayed by a rushing torrent of water, but Xeno could hardly pause. There was plenty at stake had he faltered and potentially allowed the possessed water manipulator to push him back into the depths of the hastily filling room. When the water manipulator hit the ground, hesitation remained nonexistent as he immediately struck the more durable hunter. The pommel of his dagger smacked hard into the man's head, Xeno maintaining caution as he accomplished the action which could potentially do unforeseen damage. Finally, the possessed hunter collapsed to the ground, Xeno sparing a moment to breathe.
[break][break]
Slowly, the white-haired man straightened his back, moving to reach under the arms an unconscious hunter, sheathing his dagger and dragging them into the room before proceeding to do similar with the other hunter. His eyes flitted to the blond who appeared to have gotten a bump to the head because of the altercation. When asked if Peter Pan was gone, Xeno nodded.
[break][break]
"I believe so... I'll track him down once we get help," Xeno explained. "Stay inside, we're going to have to hold down... I don't think we can safely take everybody downstairs and to the gymnasium."
[break][break]
Swiftly, the elite hunter snatched the radio from around his belt, checking the condition and nodding when it proved operational. The black device was brought to his lips before he flicked the switch.
[break][break]
"I need assistance. I ran into a demon hunter and was forced to knock out some of our men. I need help getting them to the gymnasium," Xeno stated before providing an exact location.
[break][break]
There was a pause until he heard a confirmation from people heading to their location. After a quick thanks, Xeno returned the device to his belt before dragging the unconscious hunters further into the room, leaning them against the wall. Once able, he grabbed the bow and notched an arrow, pointing it at the doorway and waiting for assistance to arrive.

Foxxy said we can skip her for this round, so I'm back. @ryker
After looking around the open corridor William found himself comforted by the fact there was no more agents waiting around the bend. Both for Xeno's sake and his own. As he knew couldn't be easy having to fight off his own comrades, possessed or not. He backed up through the open door as the archer began picking up the agents one by one. Dragging them into his room and laying them down. He couldn't help but feel guilty for the group of them. Being so unfortunate to be controlled by their enemy. It actually made William shudder a little at the thought of how the rest of the headquarters must look.
Having been reassured the purpled haired male was gone William let out a sigh of relief. Nodding slightly at the man's commands to stay put. After all he wasn't really in a position to argue with the man, nor did he want to. As William hadn't really been much of a help to the man up to this point. And in fact may have even made things more difficult. "Whatever you say." He said with a slight nod. Leaning up against the wall himself, per the man's instructions.
And as Xeno called in for back up William was happy to hear a voice reply over the radio. Letting the two know that at least not all of the facility was destroyed. "So now we wait..." He said watching the man lean the agents up against the wall. Yet now that things had calmed down a little he could finally get a good look at his savior. The eyepatch seemed a little odd for someone so accurate with a bow. And the way he carried himself he was definitely a fighter. But most of all William couldn't help but notice the man's rather striking features. His perfect skin. And almost crystalline eyes. Even William had to admit the man was handsome. Almost inhumanly so. As if... "You're a fae too?!" He said rather surprised. Having not met anyone like himself sense he had decided to head back to the human world.
The unconscious hunters were grouped on the soaked floor, Xeno's dexterity allowing him to accomplish those goals with ease. Each was carefully laid against the wall once a moment was provided, their clothing wet from the drowning attempt and bruises bound to form. The elf wished he was not required to knock them unconscious, however, possession would only make them enemies during that altercation. Carefully, the hunter's eyes analyzed the hunter's, assuring there were no brutal injuries to the unfortunate servants. When everything appeared fine, Xeno gave a small nod and stood from his position, ears picking up on William's footsteps as he entered the room. Briefly, the hunter glanced over to him before returning to his position, crouching, waiting and refusing to move. He believed backup would be quick, however, thoughts finally relaxed off the adrenaline, allowing for clear thinking. The arrow was lowered, Xeno nodding at William's comment about waiting before heading to the door and pulling it close. Afterwards, he promptly crouched back down, keeping the arrow notched and silently waiting for backup to finally arrive.
[break][break]
The blond's stares were noticed in his peripherals, however, Xeno's fixation remained on the door. He waited for the jiggle of the knob, a subtle twist, however, things remained silent and still. Observations of the doorway were interrupted by the sudden shout of surprise when William realized his partial Fae blood. A soft smirk touched his face as he nodded, noticing the 'too' at the end.
[break][break]
"Aye, only half though," he responded with a soft chuckle.
[break][break]
Raised among a human village with a human father, Xeno was unfamiliar with Fae culture. While his mother possessed Fae blood, she merely remained for a year to nurse him and become pregnant with... the horrible, traitorous hellspawn... before disappearing. All the elf knew about her were the stories his father told over their brief relationship, otherwise, the woman was an enigma. There were times Xeno wanted to meet his mother, however, the mysterious world of the Fae was something he failed to dabble in. He hoped to research them and meet her, but his move always made it difficult. Constantly, he fantasized about meeting her, yet, there would be no promises.
William couldn't help but feel slightly on edge as the two waited for help to arrive. Not only because of the attack on their lives just moments before. But because of the way the man continued to stand at the ready. His bow drawn and arrow notched, waiting for any sign of movement. It was reassuring that he was prepared in case the purple haired man returned. But he couldn't help but feel like if he moved too quickly he may end up with an arrow stuck in him by accident.
So he just continued to stand there with his back against the wall. Still giving the male curious glances as he observed his features. As everything about him seemed slightly peculiar. From his radiant glow of youth, to the slightly modified uniform. And everything seemed to fall in to place as the man finally spoke up. At least partially confirming his suspicions. "Oh." He said slightly surprised. Seeming to take a moment. As he looked like he was trying to compile his thoughts. "Elf right? That's what the humans call it I believe. I'm surprised, I didn't think there were any others in the city like myself. Did the TRS find you as well?" He said, rather interested in his new companion.
Remaining in a crouched position for extended periods was something Xeno grew adjusted to when he began animal hunting with his father. Hiding in bushes with poky bushes was more difficult than remaining knelt on the flat surface of the room. The calm, rhythmic breathing allowed the elf to keep his bow steady, the arrow still pointed at the closed doors. There was hardly strain on his arm muscles from keeping the bowstring taut. Years of practice fended off those aching sensations, allowing him to handle the situation with ease. The elite hunter's eyes were trained on the doorknob, waiting for the subtle twitch of somebody opening it, even as he silently listened to the blond boy speak. He quietly allowed the mysterious, fellow fae-creature observe him, undisturbed after discovering he also possessed some sort of fae blood. It was interesting meeting another individual with traces of fae was always an interesting experience. When the mysterious boy guessed he was an elf, Xeno provided a nod of confirmation, however, the blond continued and mentioned being found by the TRS. Brows were raised in confusion at the question, especially since he signed up to join the TRS.
[break][break]
"No... quite the opposite... I joined to become a hunter," he slowly explained. "So... were you found then?
[break][break]
The TRS accomplished plenty of missions, thus he believed the possibility of somebody being found by them. Alas, the question was still rather strange nonetheless, especially since it was unexpected. Despite the conversation occurring, Xeno's eyes remained fixated on the door while his years listened to the idle buzz of his radio.
Seeing that the other hunters still weren't waking up. The man's eyes locked on the door. And the complete lack of motivation to continue through the facility without backup. William decided to make himself more comfortable. Slowly sliding down the wall until he was sitting on the floor. The action causing his expression to sour as he realized his mistake. The damp surface causing a squish as he inadvertently soaked his pants.
He let out a slight grumble at the rather annoying sensation. But didn't continue any further from there. Feeling that his complaints paled in comparison to the current situation in the headquarters. Shaking the thought put of his mind he returned focus on the man whom had saved him. As the stranger began to speak up once more. "Well you seem to be quite good at it." William said with a slight nod. Yet the conversation turned back toward himself as the man asked about his relation with the TRS. Causing the young man to become slightly nervous. "Well.. yes. I mean, it's slightly complicated. A misunderstanding really." He let out a small nervous chuckle. "When the scouts first found me they thought I was leading around a pack of terrors.. but they just happened to be following me you see. It's an unfortunate byproduct of my magic... And well... After that they brought me here." He said absently pointing around his room.
The unconscious hunters remained mostly motionless except for the occasional stir in their current states. Signs of waking were few, leaving Xeno and his blond companion trapped in their current situation until further notice. The soaked floor shone from the sunlight entering through the windows. Several puddles were obvious, and hopefully useful should another member of the Assembly spot them and decide to attack. The white-haired elf knew his enhanced dexterity would allow him to smoothly navigate the watery floor without potentially slipping. His ears detected his fellow part-fae's movements, his blue eyes briefly conducting a sideways glance to double-check. The blond had decided to sit on the floor, a grumble leaving through his lips, but no vocalized complaints. A subtle smile graced the elf's lips since a bystander who did not complain was easier to handle in these waiting situations. Otherwise, they tended to be rather obnoxious to handle, especially when the elite hunter was attempting to remain alert to avoid further attack. The compliment provided resulted in a conceited, lip-tight smile stretching across Xeno's face.
[break][break]
"I know," he arrogantly agreed.
[break][break]
Quietly, Xeno listened to the blond's story about how the TRS found him while his eyes remained fixated on the door. There was a pause as the hunter thought for a second, brain churning as he remembered stories in his unit about a similar circumstance. A soft chuckle escaped his lips.
[break][break]
"Were you the fella causin' trouble in the outskirts? Someone mentioned-" Xeno inquired, however, failed to elaborate.
[break][break]
The clicks of the doorknob and subtle turn of the handle prompted Xeno to glance back at the threshold. The string was drawn back a little further until he noticed the orange colour of the TRS hunter's uniform and panicked expression of the people who entered. The elf kept his arrow notched but relieved the tension from the bow's string as he stood. Two hunters had arrived to aid them, both appearing rather young, but looks were always deceiving. Immediately, Xeno pointed at the trio of unconscious hunters slumped against the wall.
[break][break]
"I need some help carrying them. Somebody possessed them earlier, so I recommend you be careful handling them," Xeno explained.
[break][break]
Worry entered their expressions, but they quickly listened to the elite hunter. Meanwhile, the elf walked towards the doorway, glancing out to check for any signs of the Assembly. They had a long, dangerous trek, which was a worrying thought.
Although sitting there on the wet floor wasn't the most comfortable place to be. It certainly beat the alternative of leaving the room. Potentially to safety, or back into the path of the dangerous demon that had assaulted the two before. The thought of running across the man sending a shiver down the young man's spine. As he wondered why the man hadn't outright tried to kill him with the other agents. Instead trying to drag him out of the room, potentially as a hostage. Or worse. Whatever the case, William was happy that the elf had come to his rescue.
He couldn't help but slightly admire the guy for handling things so effectively. As he seemed so capable, so confident of himself. William didn't even interject as the man padded his own ego in response to his compliment. Not that he really had much time to retort anyways. As the hunter began to ask a question of the young man. Flustering him almost instantly. Nervously his eyes darted away from the man. "Uhmm.. well. -" Yet both of them were interrupted by the soft clicks coming from the other end of the room. Attention was focused quickly toward the entrance. Waiting with baited breath as the door started to swing open. His body tensed up as the figures pushed their way through. Yet after noticing their worry he let out a sigh of relief. Their expressions much different from the ones that had become possessed. "Thank goodness." He said.
Standing up from the floor William calmly waited as the half fae ordered the other hunters around. Watching as the two rushed over to aid their unconscious allies. Yet the young blond decided he would be much safer sticking to the first hunters heals. Knowing the man was likely his best bet of getting out without much more harm. "All clear?" He said, peaking out the door himself.
"So now we just have to make it downstairs..." He said slightly nervously. Unsure of what awaited them as they tried to get to the gym. "And don't worry... I won't be as much trouble as I was for the Sargent."
Ryker couldn't help but feel slightly amused that he still hadn't moved from his spot, oh if only he wasn't immuned to fire, then he could have watched him burn instead. He tossed the darkness towards the AP man, amused when it hit him. It was pleasing to see him harmed after the damage he had caused for the AP. Of course in the middle of attacking him, another TRS agent had showed up. If it wasn't for the fact that she was fast, he would have had enough time to counter her. He attempted to possess her but for some reason he couldn't get a good enough grip on her and was forced backwards until he was forced back out of the prison cell. It was annoying that despite his efforts that he still couldn't seem to possess her as he had done with the TRS earlier today. What was with this woman, it shouldn't be that difficult and yet, his efforts were in vein because it didn't last very long against her, if he managed at all. It was very confusing and interesting at the same time. As soon as he was outside, he quickly made an effort to create a hex to teleport to another location.
Similarly to the room, the hallway had several puddles of water littered across the tiled floor. The sprinkler system proceeded to rain water down. The dampened uniform was hardly a concern for Xeno as he observed the hallway, glancing down both ends to assure nobody from the Assembly followed the hunters upstairs. Fortunately, the hallway appeared empty as sirens blared and red emergency lights flashed throughout the building. Admittedly, the elven hunter was relieved to discover the mostly empty hallway. While any threats could easily be disposed of by him, a lack of Assembly confrontation would allow them to bring the unconscious hunters to the gymnasium for medical assistance. When he heard William's words, he provided a small nod in response to the hallway's lack of threats. After a few more moments of surveying the hallway, Xeno left the doorway to check on the pair of hunters who arrived to assist them. The pair was similar, both having a slimmer appearance, however, they were managing to retrieve the unconscious hunters. Cradled in their arms was a single hunter each, leaving only one individual leaned against the wall in wait of rescue.
[break][break]
"If one of you have enhanced strength, pick up the other fella. I can shoot as we head down," Xeno explained.
[break][break]
One hunter raised a brow, clearly expecting Xeno to either grab the hunter or put William to work, however, there was no refusal. Promptly, they shifted one of the unconscious hunters to their shoulder and smoothly picked up the remaining one. When pleased, Xeno exited the room, gesturing for the carriers and William to follow him outside. As he exited, he pushed the door open further, using his foot as a doorstopper to keep his arrow notched.
Seeing the coast was clear William let out a sigh of relief. Pleased to see that the demon from before had either fled or at the least had made his way to somewhere else in the building. At least they didn't have to worry about any more possessed agents attacking them, as long as he wasn't there to threaten the two. As Xeno pulled back from the doorway William followed his movements. Sticking to the man's heals like a lost pup. Not willing to forgo his only real means of defense.
As the elf ordered the two other hunters around William couldn't help but notice he was excluded from some of the responsibility. Though to be honest he was relieved. As his abilities would have made picking someone up rather difficult. Yet he was unsure if the elf had seemed to pick up on the fact, or simply thought the young man was physically lacking. He let out a soft grumble as the team prepared themselves. Following closely behind the bow welding hunter as they made their way out of the room and into the Hall. Everyone seemed tense as they stepped out into the open space. The only clear sound was the constant buzz of the alarm. The rest of the building seeming eerily quiet.
As the group slowly started to move William found himself wedged in the middle of the pack of hunters. Eyes occasionally drifting toward the man on his left, carrying two of the unconscious agents. Still feeling slightly bad that he was little more than a burden to the group. "L-let me help.." He said nervously. His hand reaching toward the man's hip.
"Hey kid what are you doi-" The agent began to say, yet was cut off as William made contact. As soon as the young fae touched the man there was a feint glow that started to appear, and what appeared to be a golden, almost pollen like substance flowing around the two. "This should make it easier." Almost instantly the man seemed completely unfazed by his burden. The slight fatigue from before entirely erased. Yet along with that his expression had changed as well. Caught somewhere in a mixture of pleasure and confusion as he tried to make sense of the energy coming from the fae.
