Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Mornings around the headquarters were always boring. Filled with the silent clicks of feet and soft hum from the flurecent lights. Loud enough to be heard, but not quite enough to rouse William from his slumber. As of late he had been sleeping in more often. Not having much to do otherwise. His own actions had gotten him suspended from going outside the building. Having caused quite a few problems for the second hunter unit. And as it was now he hardly even left his own room. Punishing himself further, even though it wasn't required or requested.
Yet something had managed to break his sleep. There was a sudden shudder of the building, sending the blond tumbling off of his bed and on to the floor. With a grumble he leaned up and began to look around, unsure of what had happened. "Earthquake?" He said rather confused to himself. Yet he didn't have time to consider it much further as there was another shake, this one feeling much closer. Followed after by a rather loud bang. "What the?" He said pushing himself up off the floor. He had only a few moments to get his bearings and rub the sleep out of his eyes before a new problem appeared. As the lights in his room shut off rather suddenly. Being replaced moments after by a dull red glow. Accompanied by a shrill alarm that seemed to come from nowhere.
Almost instantly panic set in to the young man's spirit. As he had never had anything like this happen before. Curiously he made his way to the door and pressed his hand against the panel along side. Only to have it give off a rather dissatisfied beep, letting him know it was locked tight. One hand quickly gripped his chest as he could make out the tell tail scent of smoke drifting in from the vents. So he did the only thing he could think of, panic more. "Hello!? Is anyone out there?!" He shouted as he banged on the steel door with one hand. Hoping that someone, anyone, would come save him.
Zeredah had given the order, he was obligated to obey. After killing his ex boy friend, the evil medic that used to work for TRS, he had lost custody of his step daughter to his Brasti's brother, Xander. He had been on okay terms with Xander but thanks to Brasti getting involved he had lost his chance to keep Willow close to himself. It wasn't fair, though she wasn't his blood, she was supposed to be with him and he'd be damned if Xander or Brasti got in his way. So this was revenge for getting involved in his business, though he couldn't hit Xander where it hurt, he could to Brasti. To his disappointment, his location to break into was closer to the prisons and isolated areas of TRS. Meaning besides killing prisoners, there were some special people being held by TRS and he had been granted permission to watch them all burn in hell.
At first he had made his way towards the isolated areas, having caught a few TRS in the process. As to avoid getting his hands dirty, he possessed them, watching them attack and kill each other. Though one of them remained alive, this guy had the power to cause earthquakes, so he forced him upon his feet and had him continue the process. He walked down the hall behind him, there were a few rooms. He went in one by one, killing off the people in there, until he made it to the last bedroom. He had the TRS agent he was possessing go in first. It was pleasing to see his victims full of joy, believing they'd be saved only to discover the end was near for them. It would be a few seconds later that he'd too, enter the room. Only to be disappointed there was only one person in here, a blond named William. "This just isn't your lucky day." He answered, forcing the TRS agent to attack William, unaware a savior was nearby to save William.
On a beautiful summer day, Xeno had recently accomplished a difficult mission on behalf of the TRS. Pride was evident in his stride, a broad, conceited grin stretched across his lips as he strode towards headquarters. There was a difficult terror involved in his mission, the elf successfully using his bow to defeat the vile creature, naturally. Years of training made the elite hunter prepared for this occupation, allowing him to accomplish each mission with the utmost capability. These expectations were always successfully met on each occasion, Xeno knowing his powers would allow him to easily complete these missions. Leisurely, the white-haired walked, bow secured to his quiver where several arrows awaited to be fired. Once he closed in on the headquarters, the elite hunter casually entered, his TRS uniform and ID granting him access with little issue. A report was provided on the events of the mission, everything soon being processed so the hunter would receive payment for his efforts. Only a few moments later did Xeno leave the front desk, walking through the building, his single eye glancing around the hallways.
[break][break]
Nothing was out of order, Xeno planning on spending some time in the lounge until he was summoned for a patrol around Lorsette, however, those events would be interrupted. The sounds of crumbling walls filled the elf's ears, eyes widening as he glanced around. Abruptly, the building began shaking as the one-eyed man remained steady, enhanced dexterity becoming a fortunate ability. Without hesitation, the elf's hand reached behind him, grasping his bow and firmly grasping it in his hand. Alarms began to loudly blare, emergency lights turned on. Red light flowed through the hallways, covering the walls and giving everything an eerie atmosphere. A sense of urgency was thick in the air, Xeno slowly navigating the hallways, radio on in hopes of some instruction, however, silence reigned. Announcement speakers echoed through the building, explaining all individuals unable to defend themselves would be escorted to the gymnasium, but also a crucial fact which resulted in Xeno's eyes narrowing in anger.
[break][break]
The Assembly of Phantoms had decided to attack the TRS headquarters. The despicable group who corrupted his abhorrent brother had decided to damage the location he considered a home of sorts. When he moved to Lorsette, the Terror Response Syndicate branch in the area accepting him upon arrival, although, he assumed his skills was enough evidence of his worthiness. An assignment was given, and Xeno was determined to assist as many people as possible. Hastily, Xeno weaved down the hallways, eyes enhancing the area, observing changes and searching for people in danger. The intense speed the elf used allowed him to search the headquarters with excellent quickness. As he rounded a corner, he noticed several things, a blond-haired citizen being abruptly attacked while a purple-haired man hovered nearby, stating his unluckiness. The Assembly soldier involved in the incident was infamous, a man known for stealing children. Xeno immediately ducked into the room, pushing his enhanced speed before ramming his shoulder into the TRS hunter reaching to attack the blond. The strong bow was improperly used, Xeno attempting to smack into his fellow hunter's head in hopes of knocking him out.
[break][break]
"Now, now, picking on defenceless little boys isn't nice," Xeno teased once he ceased his running. Quickly, he glanced towards the blond stranger. "Get up kiddo, once I handle this fella, we're going to get outta here."
[break][break]
A smirk graced the elf's lips as he drew an arrow, aiming it at the man renowned as Peter Pan among the Assembly of Phantoms. There were no doubts this battle would be difficult, however, Xeno was aware somebody needed to defend the unfortunate blond caught in this horrible situation. Alas, Xeno had narrowly slipped passed to cease the sudden attack, leaving the purple-haired man blocking the mouth of the room. A smile remained on the elite hunter's face, his red colours making it obvious he served for years and possessed excellent skill in combat. Offhandedly, the elf believed he would succeed without issue; he was a powerful hunter after all.
Pounding on the door one minute faded into five, and then ten. As the more he seemed to plead for help, the less likely it seemed he was going to get a response. Slowly he stepped away from the door and began to pace back and forth in his confined room. One hand nervously biting at the nail on his thumb. The air slowly becoming thicker and hazy with smoke. Paired with the steady shaking of the building William couldn't help but feel scared.
Even as he tried to comprehend what was going on he couldn't help but feel like he was going crazy. As if the shaking was somehow getting closer. Yet he knew something like that couldn't be possible when they were several floors up. He didn't have much longer to ponder the odd sensations though as there was a sudden creak behind him. As the locks on his door disengaged and slid open. Revealing a TRS agent on the other side. "Oh thank goodness. I was beginning to think no one was coming. And what's with all the commotion?" He said rather confused, awaiting the agents response. Yet none seemed to come, and the more William looked at the man the less he seemed to be all there. As if his mind was somewhere else. "Is everything ok?" He said, only to see another figure step through his door. And make a rather subtle threat. "Wait what? What's goin-" He began to say, only to be interrupted by the agent suddenly rushing toward him with murdereious intent.
William's eyes grew wide as he tried to back up from the man's grasp. Still unsure of what was happening. Yet he wasn't fast enough, hadn't expected to be attacked so suddenly. And knew he wouldn't be able to escape. His feet slipped underneath him and sent him falling on to his butt. Sealing his fate completely by this point. He clenched his eyes as he prepared for the sudden impact from the man. The sound of body coloring with body echoing through the room. Only for it not to come from William, but someone else entirely. As a fourth party had suddenly joined the fray. Sending the previous agent tumbling to the ground.
As the stranger began to speak up William opened his eyes, taking a moment to register his savior. "O..ok" He said, clearly stunned by the sudden turn of events. Slowly he made his way back to his feet. Doing his best to stay hidden behind the bow wielding stranger. Eyes locked on the purple haired man whom had entered first. "What's going on? Who is he?! And that agent? What happened to him?! He tried to attack me." He said rather frantically, still not quite taking in the seriousness of the current situation.
Ryker was silent when William had asked what was going on. He watched as he backed up, only to trip over himself, falling onto his butt. He had closed his eyes, but before the TRS agent could kill him, he had been knocked out from behind. The TRS hunter fell to the ground, unconscious thanks to his comrade. I've always enjoyed having some company. He thought to himself, smirking at Xeno's comment to him. "Your not going anywhere." He answered, flame in hand he tossed it towards the door frame so that it would catch on fire. "Don't fret though, one of us will be getting out alive, it just won't be you two." He answered, immued by fire, which was why he chose to use it block them in the first place.
He then proceeded to create fire in his hands, planning on throwing some fire balls towards Xeno. Xeno was armed, having a bow in his hand. Of course somebody would have to pick the unconscious TRS hunter up, unless of course they planned to leave him here to die in the flames. This will be interesting. He thought to himself before proceeding to toss his fire balls on the unconscious TRS hunter. There were many outcomes that could come from this fight, but this one would be for certain. If nobody saved the unconscious TRS hunter, he would surely die by the hands of his flames.
Worries appeared nonexistent to Xeno as an arrogant smirk consumed his expression. Certainly, the skillful elf could easily defeat the Assembly intruder in this altercation. There were hardly doubts which entered the elite hunter's mind about the dreadful notion of failing the task at hand. Successfully, he knocked out the corrupted TRS hunter to avoid him being controlled to cause further damage. Opposed to fixating on those pesky ponders of the damage manifested from the Assembly soldier's possession, Xeno's attention focused on the enemy. Despite the elite hunter's immense skillfulness, he refused to be caught off guard and embarrassed by Peter Pan. The surprised blond was expected, however, for incorrect reasons in Xeno's conceited thought process. Thoughts continued to feed the elf's arrogant attitude as he genuinely believed his skill could have manifested the reaction; Xeno was always somebody to praise his own ability whenever possible. The elf's blue eyes locked onto his enemy, the hunter prepared for the upcoming battle, however, he was eventually distracted by the frantic questions which escaped the blond stranger's mouth.
[break][break]
Briefly, Xeno's eyes flitted towards the blond before returning his enemy. The Assembly had invaded, and this unfortunate young man clearly unaware of the attack.
[break][break]
"The Assembly has invaded, so I recommend you find a safe place to hide and maybe take that unconscious fella with you," he explained bluntly. A subtle head tilt was aimed at the purple-haired man. "According to our information, this guy should be a demon or something, am I right Petey?"
[break][break]
A soft chuckled escaped his lips at his teasing comment, giving the man's alias a nickname of sorts. Flames were thrown towards their only exit, making escape nearly impossible. A smirk remained evident on Xeno's lips since this man honestly thought he would successfully win this battle. Fireballs were thrown at them, the elite hunter's intense reaction speed immediately functioning to swiftly move with the assistance of his enhanced speed. Quickly, he wrapped an arm around William's waist, praying the young man would not dodge the action or squirm. In a matter of seconds, Xeno would attempt to pull the blond's body with him as he moved forward. Once safety was discovered, an arrow was snatched from the quiver, the elf pulling back the string until it was taut and taking aim. Hesitation disappeared when the elite hunter noticed the demon turning his attention on the unconscious man. The arrow was let loose, flying through the air and towards Peter Pan in hopes of making his aim falter. Once the arrow whistled through the air, Xeno's enhanced speed activated, the elf running to grab his fallen comrade in an attempt to spare him from the horrible fate.
William's eyes stayed fixated on the purple haired male as he stood himself back up. Wondering about his motives for barging in and attacking so suddenly. Yet regardless of why it definitely had seemed effective. Sending the facility into a panic. Yet two things quickly made William start to realize things were more dire. As his savior had decided to at least somewhat answer one of his questions. "Assembly? Hide?" He said still rather confused. Wondering why he would have to flee if the agent was going to take care of the threat. But as he was pondering he felt another slight rumble from the building. Making him realize the purple haired male obviously wasn't working alone.
He could barely comprehend what was happening. He was sure that the headquarters was a safe place. Not only from it's fortifications, but all of the agents as well. To think he was staring down someone whom had managed to infiltrate this far was almost unbelievable. So much so that he seemed to freeze up completely. Eyes wide as the intruder began igniting the door and summoning orbs of fire. His heart began racing as the man seemed to raise his hand in slow motion, tossing it directly toward them. Every part of his mind screamed for him to run, but his body wouldn't respond. Paralyzed by fear and confusion.
Luckily however William didn't have to move as he found himself falling backward. Or more correctly being pulled backward. By Xeno's arm wrapping around his waist. "Wai-" He began to say, yet it was too late to interrupt the action. His words being cut off by the motion, knocking the air from his chest. Not only that, but the impact seemed to send a golden dust scattering from the young man as well. He barely had time to register what had happened before he felt the familiar surge of his magic rushing forward with little to no restraints.
"S-stop!" He cried out after finally regaining his composure. Just in time for the agent to release him. Now out of the way of the first attack William quickly scooted as far away as he could, placing his back firmly up against the wall as he watched the other two. Hoping his encounter wouldn't have any adverse effects. As it was such a brief time of contact. Yet he had yet to meet any species immune to it's effects.
Ryker watched as Xeno saved William from his fire balls, but it wouldn't matter there was more where that came from. Of course Xeno had fired an arrow at him. He quickly moved to the side, barely missing before throwing some flames at the unconscious TRS hunter. This room was too small for a decent fight, Xeno wouldn't be able to protect William and the TRS hunter. Magic seemed to flow out of William, being in such a small room, he was bound to get affected. The magic was, rather addicting. Any thought of leaving this room was gone, as well as killing William, deciding he could use his magic for his own benefit instead. Which meant, killing Xeno before he could interrupt his plans of an attempt in kidnapping William.
It wouldn't be the first time he kidnapped an adult and it wouldn't be the last either. Though adults would be forced to join AP unlike the younger souls he kidnapped or viewed as adopting who would have that choice but it was never forced upon them. What could he say, he had a soft spot for orphans. He created more fire balls in his hands, knowing any arrows Xeno shot at him would be in vein so long as he took the proper time to create a hex circle to heal himself, which left only one answer. He'd have to survive against Xeno's attacks. It didn't sound too difficult to him, plus in such a small room, it would make using darkness manipulation even easier as an advantage.
Golden dust fluttered from the mysterious blond, however, Xeno refused to be deterred by the peculiar display of magic. Two hunters were inside the room, one unconscious and formerly possessed, meanwhile, there was him, conscious and capable of fighting. Options were limited, thus the elf sacrificed his listening ears in favour of rescuing the young man from potential burning. When he successfully carried the blond stranger away from harm, Xeno's mind never thought about what the golden-coloured magically dust could be. As a hunter, expectations were to save the defenceless from the harmful plans orchestrated by the Assembly of Phantoms. Hastily, he moved away from the blond, a brow subtly raising when there appeared to be an odd stir inside him. Something was off, but there was no time to ponder those notions. Hastily, the elf moved after the arrow was fired, each step having a beyond human speed as he grabbed his fallen comrade. While he would be unable to aim his bow, for the time being, he wrapped an arm beneath the unconscious man before quickly dragging him to where the blond stranger decided to hide. The assistance of his enhanced speed allow him to hastily return and dodge anything Peter Pan threw his way., the unconscious hunter being laid onto the ground.
[break][break]
"Try to watch him, alright?" Xeno requested before standing back to his feet. "I will get us an opening to leave, then we head to the gym, got it?"
[break][break]
The words were quietly stated, the elf's deep blue eyes locking onto the purple-haired man and soon the flames blocking their escape. Immediately, Xeno's keen eyes analyzed the area, smirking when he noticed the sprinkler system above. An arrow was grasped from the quiver, the elite hunter hatching a plan. All he required was a hint of fire and the precise aim to launch those flames close enough to melt away the seal and activate the sprinkler system. Unfortunately, he was certain his enemy would not willingly provide those. Observantly, Xeno watched Peter Pan, waiting for a possible opportunity to get a fire-covered arrow.
As William braced himself against the wall he watched the two seem to face off. Each of them frightfully capable of handling themselves even in such cramped quarters. Making William feel even more out of his depth as the two exchanged shots from across the room. Amazed they managed to react so quickly to each other's attacks. Even though William wasn't a combatant of any sort he could still seem to sense both of the men were on a completely different level than himself. Not only in capability, but experience as well.
His thoughts were only interrupted by a sudden thump at his feet. As Xeno laid the unconscious agent down next to him. "O-ok.." William stuttered out once more to the man's commands. Unsure exactly of how he was supposed to even help out in a situation like this. After all it wasn't like he could simply pick up the agent. Or even property protect him if the purple haired male decided to attack the them once more. All he could do was hope that the bow weilding stranger had some sort of plan.
Ryker found himself watching William and Xeno closely, attempting to determined what Xeno planned on doing now. As for him, he was still debating on his next move, deciding if he'd go with more fire or if he'd use darkness. It hadn't crossed his mind that Xeno had a plan if he were to throw more fire in his direction, so the first action was creating fire balls in his hands before throwing them straight for Xeno again. He wanted this room full of fire, so that he'd appear like a savior to William upon dragging him out of these flames. To his annoyance, Xeno had countered his attack by getting some flame and shooting it at the sprinkler above them.
Damn it, how the hell am I going to get out of this mess now? He thought to himself, debating on the subject. To his greatest pleasure, it sounded like to him that more TRS agents were on the way. As soon as they came to the door, he used possession on them before making his exit outside. He'd then use them to attempt to grab William. First matter of business is killing these TRS agents, second is taking this kid with me, third is that I still need to break into the prison, freeing those loyal to AP and killing those damn traitors. He thought to himself, deciding he would make these TRS agents do his bidding while he remained in the hallway.
Fingers carefully wrapped around an arrow, notch idly sitting on the bowstring, waiting for the inevitable strong drawback before being hurtled through the air. Alert, Xeno watched his opponent, fingers subtly twitching in wait while he fearlessly stood in front of the fire-throwing demon. Breathing was evenly kept, the elf evidently not concerned with recent affairs as he steeled himself for the upcoming fight against Peter Pan. The archer narrowed his, carefully observing the movements of his enemy. Arrogance filled his mind, each action having a subtle, offhanded as though he knew victory would arrive, however, nobody could predict the tides of a battle. Flickers of flames caught Xeno's eyes, the plan possible beginning once the tip of his arrow could touch the fire. Despite being pleased by the action, the elf maintained his expression, observant eyes awaiting the upcoming attack. Balls of fire were thrown his direction, Xeno immediately diving into a sideways roll, his arrow being separated from the bow. It was planted onto the ground, the fire landing onto the tip, and without hesitation, the elite hunter brought it to his chosen weapon.
[break][break]
The string was pulled taut, an abrupt release through calloused fingers launching the projectile towards the sprinkler closest to the door. There was a whistle of noise as the arrow flew through the air, planting itself into the roof mere inches away from the sprinkler. Almost immediately, water was showered down from the sprinkler, dousing the flames below and creating an opportunity for exit. As expected, his enemy retreated into the hallway, however, the battle was far from over. Through the door arrived TRS agents, zombies to the demon's possession, and they outnumbered him. Undoubtedly, this was a simple task for the powerful elite hunter, however, it appeared his companions were the intended targets. Without hesitation, Xeno sprinted full speed towards the group, ramming his shoulder into one of the hunters. He planned on slamming the hunter into the wall, the momentum from his sprint hopefully having the potential to knock them unconscious. Unfortunately, there were still other possessed TRS members inside the room.
Everything seemed to continue in slow motion to the blond as he watched the two face off once more. Both equally determined not to let the other succeed. Started first by the intruder surrounded by flames. Drawing more of the magic forward and tossing another ball toward the archer. However this time the agent seemed to have a plan. Quickly dodging the attack and using it to his advantage. Igniting the arrow with the discarded flames and notching it in his bow. Only to aim directly for the ceiling.
Now William wasnt much of a fighter. But he was sure of a few things. One being that there was no way that arrow was going to hit the purple haired man. His brow raised slightly as Xeno let loose his string. Launching his shot forward and into a small pipe. Suddenly causing a plethora of water to come spraying out. Dousing the flames. Yet William only had a few moments to be amazed. As the water coming down had caused an unforseen consequence in the form of steam and smoke. He tried his best to cover his mouth, using his other hand to bat away at the smoke as he struggled toward the only clean air coming from the open door.
As soon as he managed to get close he reached forward trying to pull himself through. Yet instead of gripping the wall he instead found himself being grabbed. As another agent reached through the open door and latched onto his wrist. Almost instantly there was a soft glow that rose between their skin, the air filling with soft crackling. "Let go!" William shouted as he tried to pull himself free, yet with each moment the agent held on he seemed to become stronger. "I said le- GAH~!" He shouted as the hand became like a vicegrip, slowly tightening and trying to pull him completely out of the room.
Ryker was furious when Xeno had stolen his flame so that he could shoot the sprinkler for it to go off. Besides killing his flames, it was getting him all wet in the process too and he didn't like being all wet. Hearing foot steps from down the hall was rather pleasing because he knew they would soon be joined by more company, either fellow AP which wasn't likely since they had their own roles to play here or more TRS, which was more than likely which meant extra assistance without involving any other AP. He had stepped into the hall, quick to take possession over these weak souls. He would then control them into rushing into the room to in an attempt to grab William. To his utter annoyance, Xeno had once more knocked out another fellow TRS agent. Meanwhile another one had managed to grab William's wrist. Despite his pleads and struggles the possessed TRS agent wasn't letting go of his wrist, only becoming stronger when William's magic had touched him. He controlled the TRS agent to tug harder with the hope he would prove stronger than William in attempt to pull him outside the room. He watched from the hallway as things progressed in the room.
Hard, Xeno slammed one of the hunters into the nearby wall, a soft grunt escaping his mouth after the altercation, knocking them unconscious. Steam filled the room, accompanied by smoke which left a thick haze in the room. Nonetheless, the consequence was required to extinguish the flames blocking the only escape route. Once the possessed agent slumped against the wall, knocked out from the abrupt slam. Defending the blond stranger and unconscious soldiers single-handedly would be a difficult task, one even the arrogant Xeno was beginning to acknowledge. Two hunters alongside a potential third would be hard to carry. Narrowed eyes glanced around the area, the current situation was more important than worrying about transportation. The glimmer of golden dust immediately captured Xeno's fixation as he realized one of the possessed hunters were attempting to drag William out of the room. Speed flared, the elf moving swiftly, one hand grabbing the small dagger. The grip was adjusted at an awkward angle for its intended purpose, however, the hard pommel was useful for other things. Meters were closed until Xeno was near the possessed hunter.
[break][break]
In a fluent, albeit, sharp motion, the elf attempted to slam the flat pommel of the dagger into the hunter's head. These individuals served alongside him, thus, Xeno refused to harm them to protect another person unless they proved to be traitors. Briefly, his eyes flitted around the arrow, narrowing into a frustrated glare.
[break][break]
"Go back in! We need to hold up here!" Xeno shouted at the young blond.
[break][break]
Another arrow was notched, Xeno turning to fire a hasty shot at the enemy as a distraction. If he managed to knock the hunter unconscious, he would grab the collar of their uniform to drag them inside the room. The situation was suddenly shifting after the introduction of more innocent hunters.
