Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
it seemed like his dad was in one of his moods again. he had received a message from his mother telling him it was probably best if he avoided the house for an hour or so. he rolled his eyes and didn't bother to message her back. it didn't matter who was on his side. when his father was upset he'd go after anyone. it could be something so trivial, no it would be something trivial. the way he walked or the way he talked. his father was more of a child than he was.
after school he found himself at the mall. he really had not planned to come here, but it was a pretty good alternative. there were plenty of things to do. if he was bored, perhaps he would visit the arcade. though currently he was just aimlessly wandering the aisles of the bookstore.
he had almost run into someone with a large stack of books twice now. he didn't bother saying anything. it's unlikely that they noticed him. seriously were they going to read all those books at once? maybe grabbing one or two was okay, but more than that it seemed like they might have a bit of a hoarding problem. that was the thing though. were they buying them just because or did they actually read them.
alright, he must really be bored if he was just standing their analyzing someone and their potential habits. he rounded the corner and there he heard the crash. he knew it was only a matter of time. he turned to peek around the corner. taking in all the fallen books and the person responsible.

the princess and her knight, volume 1 was the ninth book in the stack june was holding in her arms. she had to hold the tower underneath her chin from the bottom of her two palms, straining her fingers and keeping them flexed, all too-aware that if she relaxed just a bit, she would send the books toppling down before her, and then she would trip, and maybe die. what a way to go, really - facefirst into a series of trashy romance novels that she really, really liked. [break][break] she knelt down - slowly - and gingerly set the books on the floor so she could examine a graphic novel volume before her wistfully. i'll free you someday, she promised, peering at the inhumanly beautiful, dark, brooding, beautiful, incredible, stunning, gorgeous, strong, amazing, handsome, good-looking, attractive, magnificently hot, intelligent main character on the front. his name was maxmillian ian tetriflouride the fourth, and he was the fourth male protagonist in the series, luv<3luv revolution!!, which was one of june's guilty favorites because the books didn't make any sense at all but the main characters were so hot. [break][break] she picked it up, and placed it firmly on the stack of books she already had, right on top, so she could maybe make out maxmillian's face is she stared down at her chin while she walked. june picked up the stack of books again, indeed looking at maxmillian's face, and walked straight into a bookshelf. [break][break] okay, so maybe not looking in front of her while she walked wasn't one of june's brightest ideas. [break][break] "OW," june said, all-caps, and rubbed at her forehead as she stood up. she was fine - mostly, except for the throbbing in her leg, but that was easily fixed enough. she swept her fingers against the long length of her floral skirt, and smiled in self-satisfaction as the pain faded away. no one had come to check out the noise, except for... [break][break] rowan takami. how did june know his name? only because he was magnificently dark and brooding and all things antihero, kind of, except she heard that he was a bit of a loser and he just had really nice eyes. it was more like she knew him because they were in the same grade, actually, but june was going to die before she let anyone know that the reason behind her knowing his name was so...lame. rowan probably didn't even know her name, and that was more unacceptable, because june was a delicate flower - a bloom raised in a greenhouse - and she needed attention like tinkerbell needed it. (she needed it or else she would die.) she was a sensitive maiden, damn it all! [break][break] "dude," she said, normal this time. "are you gonna help, or are you just gonna chill out over there? because, like - i don't mind, but you gotta know it's a bit creepy. at least say something." [break][break] which, to be honest, was a little unfair (if only because she had said that before he had been able to say something).
he had only dared peek to see who had caused all the commotion out of sheer curiosity. he wanted to see what kind of idiot would cause such a ruckus. well he got his answer. his eyes moved from the assortment of books on the floor to the girl. she seemed familiar yet a name didn't come to mind. surely they were around the same age. which meant they attended the same school. his detective skills were clearly great. honestly though these were simply all assumptions. it had seemed like he stayed there a bit longer than anticipated.
she caught him staring. had he been staring? how long had he been standing there? clearly long enough for her to yell at him. also what was up with the creepy comment. it wasn't like he was trying to lurk. well whatever the case she had called him out. he took her words in and couldn't help, but roll his eyes a little. what was with his girl? she sure wasn't afraid to speak her mind. it was oddly refreshing. though he wasn't going to let her know that. he sighed and started to move towards her. did she want help getting her up off the floor or picking up the books? why he was even doing this was beyond him. more likely because she had called him out. now he wished he hadn't been so curious.
honestly had he remained undiscovered he would of retreated back to the section he had been currently browsing. it was either help or talk. he had decided to help. though he figured he would have to speak to her at some point. unless making it awkward was going to make her regret her decision and maybe tell him to leave. he could only hope. stopping in front of her he picked up a couple of books and glance them over. again his curiosity getting the better of him."are you always this much of a damsel?"he looked at her with a questioning look before stretching his hand out towards her."i mean need a hand?"

he began to move, and june beamed in response, clapping her hands together a little with excitement. well, wasn't that nice! it was straight out of an otome game, really, the dashing gentleman coming to her rescue, except rowan (unfortunately) wasn't her ideal type. he would have to dye all of his hair black or brown for that, and honestly, she wasn't sure what he would look like if his head weren't a confusing swirl of color. "thank-you," she chirped, clasping both of her hands over her heart. [break][break] he glanced at her books briefly, and june only had a single moment to worry about what he thought about them before her brain said, let's make him a friend. and then we can make him read them. it was a stupendously incredible idea, because none of june's friends read the novels with the same ferocity that her own reading reflected (probably because they were more preoccupied on other, more important things, such as not failing their classes or the possibility of living the next day), and any new participant in her interests was, well - amazing. [break][break] "i am excellent at being a damsel in distress," june said archly, raising an eyebrow in mock-haughtiness. her smile warmed, and took on a distinctly mischievous color. "it's a learned skill. you don't have to make it sound like a bad thing, you know," she added: "some of us would like to go through the day without breaking a nail, and that's not terrible. i mean, being heroic and rescuing and all is lovely - amazing what people can do, isn't chivalry so wonderful? - but i, on the other hand, am perfectly content with being a princess." [break][break] "although," she added consideringly, accepting his hand with a flourish of her wrist, "scarlett everknight from so you think you have what it takes to be a king's guard? would probably disagree. she's so hot. seriously! you've got to read it sometime." [break][break] if one were watching june closely, and not listening to the rubbish that so often flowed from her mouth, they would notice that even though june allowed rowan to take her hand with an exaggerated flourish and a swooning, fluttering motion of her body, she pulled herself up using his weight rather than waiting for him to pull her up. it was for this reason that june made a terrible damsel in distress, although she would have been mortified to hear it. (being a damsel in distress was on her top 10 occupations, right next to rich widower and bubblegum pop idol. however, the list was top-secret, and she was the only one to see it, and she would be the only to ever see it. when her counselor asked her what occupation she wanted to pursue when she graduated, she primly wrote trs medic, like a proper student, instead of shoujo isekai manga protagonist. "oh, thank you for your help." [break][break] she paused, brushing her clothes down with her hands, and then said, "were you reading something, by the way? i've been looking for something new. romance novels are excellent, as always, but sometimes i need to hide my stashes with proper, intellectually challenging books stacked on top, or else my parents start asking if i've got a significant other. which, o-m-g, is a stupid idea, because no one will ever beat lisanna froth from juliette's heart, and she's already taken." a pause. "and 2-d."
was this going to be more trouble than it was worth? maybe he should of just pretended that he didn't hear her. well, it was a little late for that and he liked to think he wasn't that much of a jerk. he just avoided people when they haven't spotted him or when both parties got attacked by terrors.
he had gotten an earful then. he didn't think she was capable of anger. though a promise was a promise and so far he kept his word. he stretched his free hand out towards her. his other hand had picked up a book and he had glanced it over briefly. rowan simply nodded at her word of thanks.
he chuckled at he response."really? i'll try to remember that next time."he told her, not that there would be a next time? he really hoped she didn't make a habit of dropping armful of books every time she visited the book store. it wasn't like he was going to be here all the time to help her out, even if he was reluctant at first.
he stared at her completely unaware of what she was referring to."whatever you say, i'll take your word for it."he told her with a shrug."uh, perhaps."he told her not sure of what book she was talking about. unless she forced it upon him, he was positive that he wouldn't even think about it. though he probably wouldn't read it even if she threw it at him.
"don't mention it."he told her with a nod as she thanked once more. he handed her the book he had picked up. she asked for books suggestions and he wasn't going to be able to give her much."actually i haven't done much reading late. i was looking for something new to read."
