Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Truthfully, Laurent was uncertain how he would treat Vashti after a portion of his family history was revealed. Children were supposed to be prideful of their parents, admire them, however, in response to his father Laurent felt ashamed and angry. The disloyal charmer persuaded his mother into his games, caused her to feel special while being untruthful about his partners. His father was married to another woman and toyed with his mother’s heart for a more “friends with benefits” relationship opposed to showering her with well-deserved love.
[break][break]
Infuriation never existed in his mother in response to her former lover. Constantly she claimed the situation was alright under the excuse of without him I wouldn’t have a great son like you, Laurent. Nontheless, an anger boiled inside of the bearded man towards the despicable actions of his father. Did he even care when his mother died? Did any emotional connection existed between them? The fallen angel thought not because of the cruel actions of Marcus Evans. Without hesitation, he decided to severe the strings of his and Laurent’s mother relationship without batting an eye at the unfortunate future single mother.
[break][break]
He listened to Vashti’s words, however, he remained quiet. Touching on the sensitive topic of his regrets was avoided. Concerns of becoming emotional in a public location was already bothersome, but reopening those scars was a painful experience.
[break][break]
“So you joined the TRS to get back at a guy? He inquired, smile weak and pleading for a distraction.
[break][break]
Thoughts about the dreadful evening lit with flames and painted with drops of blood was something Laurent attempted to avoid. Years ago he pled guilty for his actions, but failed to reflect and come to terms with what he did.
Vashti couldn't help but chuckle slightly when Laurent asked his question. "Yes, yes I did." She answered, not ashamed of joining to get Fritz back. "After all the time we've spent together, he still seems to belittle me. Though I don't mind the hero trait, I fear I might lose him when he should take better care of himself first. One really shouldn't be saving others without making sure they are safe as well, it is rude to leave those behind who care about you when your motto is self sacrifice. So I joined to show him that I could handle both jobs, knowing fully damned well that he already didn't like how I risk my life everyday. I can't remember if you heard about it or not, but I have two jobs now. So frankly I won as soon as I joined up because there was nothing he could do about it." She finished, knowing there was something Fritz could do about it but she wasn't about to go spoiling answers for him.
"I've known him since I was twenty-three, saved me from a Terror. Ever since that day I've lingered around him, at first I'm sure he found me rather annoying but he was all that I had left." She paused, looking down at the glass. "I don't miss them, even though they are my parents. Life with them was hard, sounds to me like you got an easier path even though father did that to your mother." She mumbled, playing with the straw, having on accident gone onto the subject when she had been planning on avoiding it all together.
Surprise flickered in Laurent’s eyes when Vashti admitted to joining the TRS to get back at a man. Somebody she gained a closeness to and felt the overwhelming requirement to prove wrong. She appeared keen on gaining vindication for her actions, especially with statements revolving around a sense of winning. Determined, it was definitely a perfect word to describe Vashti’s attitude. She fought for her statements and fiercely protected those she cared about, including herself. This being said, her behaviours were nothing selfish, but rather, a display of caring for herself alongside those she cherished.
[break][break]
Proven by occupation and opinion, the fallen angel considered his half-sister as virtuous. Alas, dark clouds of bias cluttered his initial interpretations of the long-haired woman. The negatives opinions orbiting around Marcus Evans made him believe Vashti would possess a similar set of personality traits. Each moment of their interaction proved otherwise, that every thought was fabricated by a predetermined notion. Quietly, Laurent listened to her words about the situation. There was plenty Vashti seemed to accomplish by picking up two jobs, however, it was worrying.
[break][break]
"Isn't two jobs stressful?" Laurent mentioned as he leaned back in his chair. "I mean, you do you, but I bet it is tiring."
[break][break]
Years after his released from prison, Laurent was required to work hard to organize his life and survive the circumstances. Most of it involved laborious work alongside odd jobs. During those days, he struggled as he earned money and stabilized himself from his unfortunate situation. Only moments later did he listen to Vashti's words related to their father. A frown traced his lips as he listened to her.
[break][break]
"So... he couldn't even be a good father to you?" A sigh escaped his lips after the inquiry. "That's horrible..."
[break][break]
Over years he assisted in raising siblings while witnessing his step-father become the man Marcus Evans could hardly compare to. There was nothing benevolent about the man, which was something Laurent suspected. He appeared careless based off his behaviour towards his mother and furthermore his family. The man was an unfaithful, selfish and abrasive towards those he supposedly cared about. Fortunately, it appeared Vashti was not reflecting those traits, allowing him to somewhat sympathize with her situation.
Vashti listened as Laurent asked his questions, proving to be rather concerned for her well being. "At times it can be but I'll be fine." She answered him in return before adding, "Awww, if i didn't know any better, I'd say you are worried about my well being, Laurent. That is so sweet of you." She was teasing him, though she did appreciate how they had gone from bad terms of misjudgement to the start of a beautiful sibling relationship. I am not going to admit that it is tiring, you might tell Fritz and knowing Fritz, he'll attempt even harder to get me to stop. Nope, not going to happen, sorry buddy. She thought to herself, believing this was a win. The subject had changed to their father on accident, having had a moment of feeling a great need to mumble about it. Too bad for her, Laurent was in earshot and had asked her his question on the matter.
"Father, he wanted somebody to follow after his foot steps and my mother was in complete agreement on the subject. I wanted freedom from that life. I'm sure if I did as they told me without question, he wouldn't have been but the daughter he wanted, I didn't love living that sort of life and I wanted out of it. In fact, if that Terror hadn't attacked, I'd still likely be there to this day." She added, mumbling once more. Only Fritz had figured out that she was immortal, just based on the fact that she was lingering around him so long. Everybody else had a right to believe what ever age they so chose even though her age wasn't really a secret. She started driving some what as an excuse to stop talking, hoping she hadn't made Laurent feel too uncomfortable on the subject. As soon as the food arrived, she found herself eating her soup first before picking at her salad.
Their current circumstances were peculiar considering how they were interacting with one another. From their questionable first impressions, they began improving their relationships. The process was strange, especially considering their prior interactions with one another. He desired to change things between himself and Vashti, however, he remained skeptical about it being a possibility. The actions committed by Laurent had manifested a rift between them. It was expected given his attitude towards the brunette which were inspired by his feelings about her father.
[break][break]
Quietly, he listened to her admittance of handling two jobs being difficult. He believed she struggled, especially since both jobs required large amounts of attention. Both were also extremely dangerous occupations, therefore, Laurent knew Vashti would be constant peril with the choices she made. The teasing remarks were met with a soft grumble, but no refusal of the fact in question. The slightest hint of a smile across his lips could be used to realize the emotions beneath, the ones which contradicted his grumbles.
[break][break]
He consider this a situation to be taken seriously, therefore, he disapproved of Vashti's playful commenting, yet, still found himself somewhat amused by her lack of concern. While the gifted woman had plenty of experience in combat, there was still viable reason for worry.
[break][break]
"Both of your jobs are dangerous," he explained in a serious tone.
[break][break]
The former amused smile dissipated from his face, as though he was an adult attempting to scold a child about humourous, but ill-advised behaviour. Alas, any remnants of humour disappeared as the topic returned to the infamous Marcus Evans and his questionable attitude. Listening to Vashti recount her childhood prompted a frown to breach Laurent's countenance. Everything his biological father desired was a pawn, someone to take over his work and assist with his goals rather than pursue their own. It was a situation based around control rather than love.
[break][break]
The thought of a terror attack being a rescue from the horrible situation was a surprise. Silence fell over Laurent at the thought of everything Vashti went through the years. Only moments later would the waitress return with their food, a smile on her face. A tray was perched on her fingers as she approached, her hand reaching and smoothly setting everything onto the table with the clear skill of years. After the food was placed down, the waitress retreated to assist other customers, leaving them to start eating.
[break][break]
The fallen angel paused, his eyes glancing at Vashti before a soft sigh escaped his lips.
[break][break]
"I'm sorry that happened to you," he murmured quietly. "I concerned myself with you being like him, but you aren't. You're the kid he hurt because he forced what he wanted on you, and that ain't right."
[break][break]
Afterwards, the bearded man went quiet, leaving his food alone for the time being. Those words felt necessary for presumptions he laid upon the innocent daughter of Marcus Evans. He should have known better after the mistakes he made through his past, however, nobody could be perfect. This conversation was imperative after his thoughts and opinions manifested on thoughts based on his prior experiences. He hoped to mend the issue, but nobody could be certain this situation would be completely fixed.
Vashti had caught his smile despite hearing his grumble, having believed him to view her comment as funny but was surprised when he gave his two cents on the matter. "It will be fine." She answered, disregarding his comment, noting that she now had two people caring about her well being inside of one. It made sense, since Fritz was her soulmate and friend and Laurent is her brother. The topic had shifted to their father, mostly for the sake of explaining how she had come across Fritz and they had been around each other ever since. Even with their disagreements she found Fritz to be great company, plus he trained her into becoming a hunter, she appreciates him for all he has done for her. The food had been brought and she had started on her soup, pausing when she heard him apologizing to her. "Yeah..." She mumbled in agreement, finding it somewhat easier to find it in her heart to forgive him. She finished her soup and started on her salad, hoping for a bit of silence as thoughts swarmed in her mind on how she would go about continuing this conversation.
Just as she was finishing her salad, her radio went off. "Are there any available officers in the area, we just had a break out." The police force required her to come in, slowly she picked up the radio. "On my way." She replied before hearing her TRS go off. "We have a few Terrors near the park, anybody nearby?" She'd set the radio down to answer the other one, having two for completely different jobs. "I'll be right there." She answered before giving Laurent a sad apologetic smile, placing the other radio on her belt. "I'll see you." She answered with a wave, stealing his photograph as she used her enhanced agility on her way out, first stopping by the store to pick out a new picture frame before making the purchase and slipping it into his office before handling the prison break escapee and then the Terrors near the park.
A brow rose when Laurent heard Vashti assist it would be alright for her continue both of her dangerous occupations. Most people would leap at the opportunity to only have one job. Alas, the female brunette displayed symptoms of being a workaholic or perhaps low on funds. A soft sigh escaped the fallen angel's lips, however, he decided it would be best to not comment further on the subject. He was under the assumption Vashti would remain stubborn and maintain her protection-based occupation whether he approved or not.
[break][break]
Throughout her lessons, Laurent picked up on the long-haired woman's stubbornness. Yielding was a word the fallen angel doubted assisted in Vashti's vocabulary, hence his hesitance to further speak on the subject. The gifted woman was a determined fighter who wished to protect others, even if one of those occupations were taken to get back at a friend. He resigned himself to silence for a few moments until apologizing to the female brunette about the situation. A mumbled agreement was given before fixation was returned on the food, almost as though it served as a distraction.
[break][break]
The fallen angel began picking away at a few fries before grabbing one half of his sandwich. He took a large bite, allowing the flavours to blend in his mouth. Steadily, he began eating through his lunch while Vashti consumed her salad and soup. The silence manifested a slight awkwardness between the pair. They were siblings, however, ones completely unfamiliar with one another. As they continued eating their food, gradually reaching the end of their meals, the sounds of radio static followed by words echoed in the diner.
[break][break]
Upon hearing the noises, the professor straightened, listening as Vashti answered one call with the intention of leaving. At first, Laurent shrugged off the action, understanding that the woman's jobs were important. However, shortly afterwards another call came in that was shortly answered by Vashti. Both were given an agreement that she would arrive, leaving Laurent dumbfounded as he stared at his half-sibling. Before he could get a word in edge-wise, the long-haired brunette stated and farewell and left.
[break][break]
Realization dawned quickly as Laurent noticed Vashti never returned the photograph, meaning he was left without the sole thing he sought. A soft groan escaped his lips as the man finished his meal, paid their tab and left the diner. Frustrated he never received the picture he cared for dearly, Laurent's hands plunged into his pockets as he walked back, grumbling inaudibly to himself.
