Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Robyn found themselves headed towards the beach just after school had let out. With the backpack on their shoulders they slowly walked along the sidewalk, looking at the many different stores as they passed them by. There came a point where they had stopped outside one of the stores to look inside to see the many different outfits, finding them so pretty. Of course they hadn't come all this way to go shopping, no, they had come this way because it was on the way to the beach that they had chosen to walk towards. Knowing that once they got there, they would walk along the sands, seeing some people possibly out and about but then again the chances were low since it was so cold outside. The breeze blew and they found themselves enjoying it, not really cold even though they were only wearing formal attire, that of a white dress shirt with black slacks pants. Within a few minutes the beach had come into view and they slowly starting walking along the shoreline, not bothering to take their dress shoes off because they didn't care to remove them.
The point was to walk as they were thinking, they didn't want sand all over their feet too. Memories of their past had come to mind, being reminded of where they had started and where they had ended up. It had all happened because of some girl, a girl that had been a mistake that had led to their death in the long run. Oh how they wished they could have changed their passed, but what was done was done and there wasn't anything that could be done about it now. They stopped and looked out towards the ocean, smiling slightly as they felt another breeze touch their skin. Even with all the bad, surely there will be some good too. They thought to themselves, choosing to stand there instead of moving along.
rowan yawned as he waited for his last class to end, for the bell to ring their dismissal. no matter how many times the teacher would say that it was up to them to dismiss the class, they really couldn't stop the horde of students as they rushed towards the door. today was no different. everyone was itching to get out of here. the bell rang and surprisingly the teacher seemed ready to make their leave as well.
rowan remained in his seat waiting for the rush to be over. he gathered his things into his bag and once it the door way was clear of scrambling students, he made his exit. he wasn't ready to go home. he had thought about looking for willow, though she was probably long gone. was it odd how close they had suddenly become? or maybe it was just him overthinking things. he sighed softly, as he made his way to his locker to return books he didn't need to take home. he had managed to finish most of his assignments during class. though there was one assignment he had yet to start. the weather wasn't too bad, maybe he'd go out and actually try to complete this assignment. it wasn't like it was something difficult.
twenty minutes later and he was glad that he didn't have to carry too many books home. it wasn't too long of a walk, but he figured so long as the weather was nice, it would be the perfect opportunity to take some pictures for his photography class. this was his first time taking a course like this. not like he didn't take pictures with his phone and such, but he felt it was different when you were holding onto an actual camera.
the beach would be a perfect place to take pictures. especially if he stayed long enough to capture the sun setting. it would be a couple hours till then, but if he really wanted to capture a sun set, he would have some time to kill. he spotted a couple of birds walking through the sand and he slowly made his way towards them, but at the same time remaining at a safe enough distance that they wouldn't spot him and fly off.
Robyn had been too busy looking out towards the ocean to notice a boy had joined them at the beach. They turned away from the water, preparing to walk along the shores until they had noticed the two birds walking. Instead of moving, they remained in their spot They are so beautiful. Oh how I wish I had wings so that I could fly away too. They thought to themselves, still watching the birds. It wasn't until they were in process of flying away that they had caught sight of the boy that had joined them on the beach. He looked somewhat familiar but they didn't know his name was Rowan and that he attended the same school as them. "Hi." They called out towards Rowan, slowly lifting their hand up to wave at him before looking back towards the ocean again. I think I'll stay out just a little bit longer so that I can see the sun set. They thought to themselves, remaining in their spot since Rowan was nearby. I wonder if he'll be here this long too. They thought to themselves, debating on asking or remaining quiet.
maybe he should of stopped by somewhere and grabbed a bite to eat. though at the moment he could wait till he was really hungry. right now he was actually focused on getting his assignment done. though the part about this class, was at times it didn't feel like a class. it was fun, he actually enjoyed taking pictures.
he had simply decided to take this class, not only because he needed another elective, but he because he thought it was going to be an easy class. how wrong he was. clearly you have to put in a bit of effort. which wasn't all bad, since the things he was learning were rather interesting.
he really wasn't the artistic type, but photography. he could see him continuing this hobby once the class ended. he snapped a couple of photos and moved around to get a different angle. he had heard the greeting, but paid no attention to it. he had assumed it wasn't directed at him. it had been the wave, that had made him glance towards them. he looked at them and they seemed a little overdressed to be here."uh, hello."rowan said quickly before returning his attention to the birds, that had now taken flight.
Robyn smiled slightly when Rowan had greeted them back, a bit late but maybe that was because he appeared busy with taking photos. It seemed like an interesting hobby if you were to ask them. They remained quiet, watching as he snapped a few more photos, they wanted to wait until he wasn't snapping a photo to ask him their question. Though it appeared like a hobby to them, it was possible that he had other reasons for coming to the beach for some photos and the last thing they wanted to do was assume. So as soon as he finished taking pictures of the birds flying away, they opened their mouth to speak. "So, is taking photos your hobby?" They asked, rather curious with the answer.
rowan wasn't the most social person. it probably didn't help that he always seemed bored whenever anyone approached him. having friends was messy. he avoided people as much as possible, yet some refused to leave. he wasn't going to be rude though. after all someone else had started the conversation. he rarely was the one who would start chatting with some random stranger.
rowan faced them. wondering if he had seen them somewhere before? maybe they just had one of those faces? he replaced the lens cap on his camera and looked up once the question was asked."not really."he said rather bluntly. he figured the poor kid was trying his best to keep the conversation going. he might as well elaborate. after a few seconds of silence rowans began to speak once more."i'm taking a photography class at school. though it's rather interesting...i might stick with it after the class is over."he tell them with a nod.
now it seemed like he was talking too much."what about you?"
Robyn listened to Rowan answer their question, somewhat surprised when he had said that it wasn't a hobby. Though when he told them that it was for a class, the confusion on their face had disappeared. A class had made sense to them. "I see." The answered, accepting the answer rather easy. "It sounds like a fun class." They commented, watching him. "What about me what?" The question had confused them, unsure on what exactly Rowan was asking them. It was possible he was asking about taking photos being a hobby but he might have been asking if they took the same class.... but then again, maybe he was asking about their reason for being at the beach in the first place. "I haven't really taken any photos recently and I don't have that class and I came to the beach to clear my thoughts." It seemed like the best answer, nailing all three in the head unless he was asking what they enjoyed doing for fun, but if that were the case he would be forced to repeat that question to be much more clear so that they can better understand it.
rowan wasn't great a conversations. for the most part he tried to keep to himself. though clearly it wasn't working. not that he minded. he was the biggest hypocrite he knew. he didn't want friends, but here he was talking to someone. not to say that they were going to be friends. isn't that how things started out though? once you start talking to someone you continue till you're stuck with them.
he did have friends, people that stuck to him despite his aloof nature. he couldn't help, but think back on the whole situation with willow. right now was not the time to get lost with thoughts of her. he figured it would be a while before the sun would begin to set. he started to pack up his camera.
it seemed like they were a bit stunned by the question. had rowan not specified enough? sure, he figured that question could be taken in different ways. how silly of him to make them so confused. he felt bad and was about to reword the question when they started to speak. he chuckled softly. zipping up his backpack and returning it to his shoulder."sorry, yeah i meant what brings you here, but you already answered that question."what now?
if they came here to clear their thoughts maybe they wanted to be alone. then again it was them that had called out to him."have we met before? im rowan."he said introducing himself. perhaps they were just being friendly?
Robyn had answered his question. They watched Rowan finish putting the camera in his backpack, smiling when Rowan had commented back to them. They were surprised when Rowan had asked them if they had met before. "I'm not sure, I mean you look somewhat familiar to me...." They answered before adding, "A pleasure, I'm Robyn." They would then proceed to extend their hand in an attempt to shake hands with him, whether Rowan accepted it or not, they would eventually lower their hand so that it would rest at their side. "So if you enjoy the class, does that mean you like taking photos in general?" They asked, curious because he had mentioned it possibly becoming a thing but they wanted more information than that. For all they knew, he was into selfies with his phone too, but they weren't about to assume such things.
rowan scrunched his nose. clearly not liking the answer to his question. he hoped he wasn't familiar. that could only mean one of many things. that they tried talking and rowan flat out ignored him or basically forgot about him after awhile. despite his aloof exterior, rowan didn't try to be rude. he wasn't the greatest at keeping or starting conversations, but he was at least civil.
of course if someone was annoying him, then he wouldn't hold back. it was fair game in those type of situations. though this kid didn't seemed to be annoying him. well, not yet at least. robyn introduced themselves and very casually stuck their hand out. rowan stared for a second before feeling like an idiot and taking their hand into his."sure."rowan said after their handshake.
he ran his fingers through his hair as he thought about an answer to his question."hm, well it is a bit different than i imagined. it isn't just point and shoot. there is a method and different techniques, but that wasn't your question."rowan said with a shake of his head going off on a tangent there. he cleared his throat and tried again."i guess. i mean i don't go out of my way to get the perfect picture of my food or something. i don't take pictures of my food."rowan said with a shake of his head.
"anyways, i don't mind it. if i see something interesting the only camera i would have would be my phone."he continued, feeling like he completely missed the point of the question."what about you? what do you like to take pictures of?"
Robyn had noticed Rowan's face expression and couldn't help but smile. "Though you've met me now, so next time we chat. We can honestly say we look familiar to each other, yeah?" They answered with that same smile on their lips, attempting to cheer him up. They introduced themselves, shook hands with Rowan. "A pleasure." They added before resting their hands to their sides. They watched Rowan as he seemed to ponder their question, paying close attention as he answered their question. "That is alright." They answered, not minding that Rowan had given them an answer on their view point of taking pictures. When the direction was pointed back at them, they answered. "I used to do it a lot but not really anymore. I guess I just didn't find anything to take a picture of." They reached up to rub the back of their neck nervously.
rowan stared at him blankly as he processed what was being said. he shook his head and chuckled softly."you want to talk to me again?"that had honestly surprised him and he probably should of said that aloud. for the most part other kids their age avoided him. well, the normal ones at least. not to say that he minded, but he wasn't that great with keeping a conversation going. though at the moment he believed he was doing a decent job?
rowan had manners and when they had stuck their hand out he wasn't going to leave them hanging. after the handshake rowan stuff his hands into the pockets of his sweater.
was that a habit of his? explaining things that made no sense or didn't have any relevance to the question at hand? though he did have some sort of point with his rambling. though it seemed like robyn really didn't seem to mind too much. or maybe they were just pretending not to be bothered by it?
rowan in turn had directed the question back at robyn. as it seemed that they had also had an interesting in taking pictures."oh, i see."was all rowan could say. he didn't want to pressure them into relaying anymore information if they didn't want to. it was fine, sometimes you got bored or could lose interest in a hobby."so if taking pictures doesn't interesting you. or i guess you can't find something you want to take pictures of what do you like to do instead?"
Robyn nodded their head to him. "Why not? Having conversations can be enjoyable." They answered in a teasing manner. They were happy when Rowan had taken their hand in their own before shaking it in greeting. When the question had been turned back onto them, they weren't sure how to answer the question but gave it their best effort. It seemed Rowan took their answer without question though, though he had redirected the question appearing to have an interest in what they enjoyed doing. "I don't know... I guess there are many things I could do, just depends on my mood I guess." They pause before adding, "Like for example, I came to the beach to clear my thoughts and it is beautiful out here too." They answered with a small smile, not wanting to admit what they used to do since they don't care much about those hobbies anymore. It is mostly just school and work and sometimes free time. "Oh wait.... I do enjoy watching people attempt to guess my gender. Which do you think?" They teased playfully.
rowan really didn't have an answer to that question. he simply shrugged and left it at that. to each their own. he figured they had a point. conversations could be enjoyable, but it all depended on the person. with rowan, the person would have to start and keep the conversation going. though the current one wasn't so bad. he was participating well enough. or so he hoped.
rowan had directed their question back at them. if they weren't interested in photography anymore. than what were they interested in now? surely they must have something like like to do. they mentioned clearing their thoughts and rowan started to wonder if he had disturbed them. though that thought soon went away, considering it was them that said hello to him first.
surely they must of been bored of being by themselves. enough to reach out to some other person who just happened to be in the same place as them."it can be, especially when it's not crowded."rowan nodded in agreement.
rowan raised an eyebrow in surprise. what kind of activity was that?"you must really be bored if you are resorting to guessing games like that."rowan told them with a shake of his head."i really don't care."rowan said with a shrug, refusing to take a guess."maybe i'll indulge in your game another time."
Robyn had noticed the shrug but decided not to comment after that. Though when the question had been redirected at them, they slowly tried coming up with an answer as vague as possible. "Yes." They agreed, though there were times that it wasn't so bad when crowded, maybe it was a bias answer about them missing their family though, what ever the reason they decided to keep the comment to themselves. "Nope, but what ever the answer, I'm always amused." They countered with a smile on their lips. "Oh?" They teased, struggling with believing them. "You know, from my experience, when people say they don't care.... they are the ones most curious." They teased, though when he mentioned possibly doing it another time, they dropped the subject, but once more weren't sure what to say. "We'll if that day comes, I look forward to your answer." They answered in return, allowing the subject to drop unless Rowan had more to say on the subject.
