Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

why he had thought it was a great idea to be out and about in this weather was beyond him. he was quite determined to get that book from the library he had requested and now look at him. he was stuck. literally, he could not leave. he couldn't believe they were snowed in. no one could get in or out.
how annoying this weather was. it had been sunny and bright a couple of days ago. sure there was still snow on the ground, but nothing as crazy as this. well, thankfully he wasn't the only one stuck here. there was a couple of other patrons, someone he hadn't seen as they had continued to browse the shelves. thankfully the power was still on. the news reports had said there there were some people without power in their homes. there was shelter somewhere, but he really wasn't paying too much attention to they broadcast. had he listened maybe he wouldn't of ventured out.
though the thought did occur to him. if the storm was as bad it as it was, why was the library still open? whatever the case, he had his book and at least that would keep him entertained for the meantime. he sat down towards the back, propping his feet on the small coffee table nearby and started to read his book.
Fletcher couldn't help but feel annoyed at the fact they were stuck in the library. He had gone inside because it was freezing, if he had known he'd be stuck in here he would have attempted to go home instead. There were quite a few people in here looking at books, most likely to check out. He wasn't here to check out a book, he was here to stay out of the cold, there was a flipping difference. He found himself wandering around the isles, pausing when he noticed Jean sitting on a chair with his feet on top of the coffee table. I really shouldn't.... but I'm going to.... He thought to himself, annoyed that he had ran into Jean in here of all places. "Planning on stealing a book? I hear depending on your choice they might have some value." He answered, making sure to keep his distance between them.
He would have left if they could get out, but seeing as they were stuck in here, he found himself rather bored, perhaps Jean could possibly help him with that. "Who the hell gave you permission to step foot in my town?" That is right, as soon as he found out the gang had disbanded, he decided everybody didn't have a right in his town, least of all Jean. He had been the one to hold the gang together and he had left. Oh that is right, you haven't seen me since that failed break in because you left before checking to see who all was okay, or maybe you got wind that I died. I don't fucking care, you left and your a traitor. He thought to himself, clearly upset that Jean was back.
this town was just full of surprises. though to be honest he really didn't keep tabs on anyone specific. why bother? they had been fine before they had met him, they would be fine without him. clearly he failed them all. why was all that he thought of whenever he saw them? maybe it was because he still felt guilty? not that he was going to admit it.
he was a couple of pages in when he heard footsteps coming closer. he didn't think much of it. considering there were people still walking around. though he had thought he picked a corner where no one would disturb him. jean furrowed his brows as he tried to keep the focus on his book.
maybe if he ignored them they would go away. yet, that wasn't the case. they continued to talk. he hadn't heard his voice in so long, but he didn't even have to look up to register who it was. it was the way he spoke, his tone of voice. it made jean smile."the fact that you know there are some value in books surprises me."jean said closing the book while he looked at fletcher."permission?"he laughed and sat the book on the table."is that what i missed while i was gone?"
"should i get on my knees and beg?"jean asked with a smirk. he had no intention on doing any begging. instead he stood up and stretched his arms."so no welcome back or anything. how disappointing. i missed you too lover."jean continued to tease fletcher.
Fletcher was somewhat surprised when Jean hadn't acknowledged him but as soon as he made his comment he found himself frowning at him. Of course I would remember, don't act like you can relate to me because you can't. He thought to himself as he watched him closer. "Do you really have to ask?" He countered, folding his arms across his chest he watched Jean, waiting to see what he would do next. It had been a while since they had last seen each other, of course they had previously been on good terms, that is until he died and found everybody gone. "Don't waste your breath. I'm not about to grant you permission." He answered him back coldly. If Jean hadn't had left, they would have been on good terms and he would have teased back, but those feelings had long since passed. Jean had stood up from the chair to stretch and he just glared at him. "I'm not your lover." He snapped back at him. "Once we are free from here, you should leave and not return ever." He countered before turning to walk away from him. I don't feel any better talking to him, this had been a complete waste of time.
jean had left his book on the chair before he had started to stretch. he loved teasing others, especially when he didn't get the same reaction. he couldn't help, but smile as he spoke to fletcher. maybe it was because he was actually glad to see him. he looked like he was doing well. after all didn't he just say he was running this town?
though to be honest jean had no intention of asking permission whatsoever. he would get over it."no, you're right. i shouldn't."jean told him with a playful smile watching as fletcher crossed his arms. he really couldn't still be mad about him leaving? it seemed like everyone was doing just fine without him."don't tell me you're upset with me? it's not because i left is it?"jean asked a smirk appearing on his lips."i didn't think you cared that much."jean continued to tease."how about we kiss and make up?"jean said with a playful wink.
he chuckled at fletcher's words."oh, so hurtful and cold. you're breaking my heart."he said as he clutched at his broken heart. jean didn't acknowledge the directions that were given to him to leave once they were all free. he watched as fletcher started to walk away from him."so you're really not happy to see me? though i've missed you."
Fletcher rolled his eyes when Jean made the comment. It wouldn't matter if he did it or not, he wasn't about go give him anything. Any attempted would prove to be wasted. "Your stuck in the past." He answered him back, not wanting to answer that question. Though he was upset that Jean had left in the first place, he was even more upset that he had been dead when they all left, so nobody was around when he went to find them. "As I said, your stuck in the past." He repeated himself once more, any playfulness he used to give to Jean was gone. "I argue you don't have a heart." He had turned to walk away from him, done with this conversation. It was surprising that Jean hadn't commented about how he looked somewhat different. Maybe it had been too long and he believed he always looked this way, but ever since his death, the cold air had always been so bothersome to him. He couldn't stand the cold, having been forced to try and wear warmer clothes. Though even that wasn't enough. If he had the chance to escape from Jean by going outside, he wouldn't take it because it was proving to be too cold for him to handle.
jean simply smiled at him. perhaps there were truth in those words. after fletcher repeats them once more jean finally speaks up."maybe i am. it's the most logical reason to why im back? i missed you, this place, and all those good times."jean said with a grin. they amount of fun they had to be illegal. well, it was considering the group would go around breaking and entering. stealing what they wanted without a care in the world.
he chuckled once more feigning hurt over fletcher's words."so hurtful...i like it."jean teased him with a wink. he was having too much fun with fletcher. though he knew anymore teasing and it wouldn't end well.
jean stepped closer towards fletcher. had it always been this cold. or was the building's heat failing? apart from having fun teasing fletcher, he really wanted to know what he had been up to."i'll stop and be serious. is that all you came to tell me? to leave?"
Fletcher rolled his eyes, once it seemed like the conversation was over and done with he had turned away, planning on leaving him. He had heard him follow and turned to glance towards him. "No, I was wandering around because I was bored and happened to see you. Prior, I hadn't thought of bothering to search you out, hell I didn't even know you were back here." He answered him back, giving him the cold shoulder. "Not that it matters, you never were one for taking anything serious unless it would bite you in the ass later. Karma is a bitch, wouldn't you agree." It was just so cold in here. He liked having the temperature warmer, unable to handle this cold. His answer had been based off of lacking the chance to tell him sooner that he had permission to go, still upset he couldn't see everybody before they left because it had all happened so fast. "Why? Were you expecting me to say something else?" He asked in return, thinking that Jean might be turning sentimental on him. He shook his head, reminding himself to not believe such foolish things. Besides it was far too late for him to care about his emotions now.
jean wasn't done with the conversation just yet. no, he actually wanted to catch up with fletcher. he wanted to know how life continued on without him here. maybe he'd seen dexter? or anyone else that stuck around here. jean smiled slightly."again you wound my heart fletch."jean said in a playful manner. how different things were between them. he knew dexter wasn't the only that would be upset. after all after that horrible night, jean had packed his things and left without saying a word.
they didn't need him. they had been fine on their own. jean laughed at his words."what are you talking about. serious is my middle name. if fletcher really wanted to escape from jean's presence he wasn't doing that great. without a second thought, jean closed in on him and hugged him from behind. pulling him closer to him as jean rested his chin on fletcher's shoulder."you're so cold. should i warm you up?"jean teased a smirk appearing on his lips.
"i can be serious."he told him once more. he could be, but jean would always use humor to diffuse any type situation."i'm sorry i left you alone."he whispered. jean wasn't the type to apologize. so when he said it there was no way he was going to repeat it. though to be honest. the only reason he left was because he had felt guilty and useless to stop those events from occurring. he didn't know until it was too late. they were all suppose to be back at a certain time and yet...even after all this time, out of all the things he had done. leaving dex behind was his only regret.
sure he harbored feelings for the boy. ones he didn't believe he could experience. feelings that he didn't want anyone to know. it's why he teased dexter so much. it was the perfect cover. though times has passed you would think he would be over his guilt and these feelings? it was all rubbish in the end wasn't it?
Fletcher ignored his teasing comment, in his mind Jean never would take anything he said seriously, or anybody else for that matter. It would be fine though, he knew how to walk away and end this conversation. He had turned to walk away only to feel arms wrap around him, one could use that as his reason for being unable to leave but the embrace had given him mixed feelings, finding it great just like old times. Sooo deep down he really was feeling cold but he honestly didn't believe Jean had taken notice, therefore he must have made the comment purely on his attitude against him. It served him right for leaving in the first place. He was quiet, refusing to answer the question but he didn't make an effort in freeing himself from Jean's grip either. Struggling with his mixed feelings on his next choice of action. "I don't believe you." He answered him back, still not making the effort to push him away.
He didn't know Jean's feelings on the subject of who all in the gang he favored over others, he knew that he had the chance to sleep with him in the passed but that was old news. "And it is too late for apologizes... the gang split up and I'm soooo over you." He finally mustered the effort to try and free himself from Jean's grip. I guess even now, I can expect him to fail to notice that I am not who I used to be. He thought to himself annoyed with this outcome. "You said we were a family and despite your words, you betrayed us all by leaving...." He was hurt, hurt to have to relive the day that he came back alive just to see them all gone. "I hope you are happy with your life choices." His words come off as a mumble, feeling a slight shiver from the room appearing to be somewhat colder. Damn this curse.... ever since I've died I've become much more sensitive to the cold....
with the way that fletcher had approached him. jean figured he would of put up more of a fight. he was right, they had something between them long ago, but jean was such a physical person he didn't care if fletcher had feelings for him or not. right now all that matter was that he kept fletcher from leaving.
he was rather happy to see him. though it had been clear fletcher did not feel the same. then again could he blame him? he had left them without telling what was going on. right after dexter had been caught. he felt so guilty. what had gone wrong that night? he had always been so protective of dexter. the one time he didn't stick around and shit hit the fan.
jean sighed softly before wrapping his arms around him a little tighter."what can i do to make you believe me."the words coming out in a whisper. it seemed like he had enough and he felt fletcher trying to escape from his embrace."it's never too late."he chuckled softly at the next's words."oh, really. what if im not over you?"jean said as he softly kissed fletcher's exposed neck.
he knew he was in dangerous territory, but he couldn't help teasing fletcher."yeah, though i really don't tend to sleep with my family. friends, perhaps."jean stayed quiet. betrayl. it seemed to follow him everywhere. he had promised himself he wasn't going to be like his mother. yet, here fletcher was reminding him that he had done exactly what he said he wouldn't do. he wasn't sure what to tell him. he didn't even know why he had come back. clearly, it wasn't to get them back together.
he figured they were all better without him. he had failed them and he would assume full responsibility for that. he wasn't going to deny it."my intention wasn't to hurt you or anyone."he told him softly. if anything he truly believed they would be better without him. currently unaware of what had happened to fletcher.
he was being to serious. jean wasn't always this soft spoken. he chuckled softly."some of my life choices could of defenitively been better. you live and you learn."jean said as he loosened his grip on fletcher, so he could leave if he wanted.
Fletcher felt Jean tighten his grip around him. The words were spoken and for a moment, he found himself enjoying this embrace, not that he hadn't enjoyed it before but he was much more upset to allow himself to admit to such things. He was silent, unsure on how to answer that question. Both by how he could be convinced and the motive of believing him. He had attempted to break free, only for Jean to tease him. He shivered when he felt his neck kissed, knowing exactly how this would turn out if he didn't break free from him. Or at least he couldn't help but believe it at this point. "We aren't friends." He answered back, not giving Jean permission to try and sleep with him. "And you aren't family." He hoped that one stung, having felt that way when he found everybody gone when he had come back.
He was silent, trying to remain quiet on what had happened to him because frankly it wasn't Jean's damn business. It hadn't been since he had left, even though he had chosen to come back things wouldn't change. Shortly after Jean had released him he suddenly pulled away to face him. "You live and you die." He snapped, but seconds later he had realized the mistaken in his choice of words. "Oh nevermind." He turned away, walking away from Jean, not interested in talking about this past they shared. You weren't there when I came back, none of you were. I don't want anything to do with you, even though I know who killed me, if none of you left I would have had a family around to help me take that damn traitor down.
he was enjoying them embrace with fletcher. well, more like fletcher's reaction to jean having suddenly hug him. it was clear that fletcher wanted to escape, but at the same time did he really? of maybe it was jean hoping that fletcher liked being in his arms. he found it rather amusing that fletcher had come up to him demanding him to leave at once and now it seemed like all fletcher wanted to do was hide from him.
jean stayed quiet. of course when he had decided to come back, not once did he think he would be picking up where he left off. there was no one waiting for him to come back. of that, he was sure of and that was fine with him. had anyone else doing what he had, he wasn't too sure he would be very welcoming either."it's to be expected, but even if you are over me. i still missed you."jean said with a playful smirk.
he had regretted leaving them all, at least without an explanation. again, he believed it was better for him to be gone from their lives. how he had failed them all. when had he become so pitiful? why was he still holding on to those emotions? what was done was done.
jean stared at him curiously."yes, i guess that's true as well, but i haven't died yet."fletcher started to walk away once more and he reached for his hand to try to stop him."hey, don't cut the reunion short."he said with a smile."i mean who else are you going to waste time with?"he said with a chuckle. though honestly he didn't bother to look around to see who else was stuck in here with them."so this gang of yours..."he paused. "are you the boss?"he asked curiously.
Fletcher was struggling with his inner demons to leave Jean behind. On the one hand, he was enjoying this hug but on the other, was furious the one hugging him was Jean. Having been upset that he hadn't been there when he came back. It wasn't even really the fact he was betrayed by everybody leaving, it was mostly the fact they had all departed before he had a chance to come back. It is that damn traitors fault.... If I hadn't died.... Maybe I could have convinced some to stay if not all of them. He thought to himself. Fletcher listened to his words, annoyed by his smirk. "I don't care." He snapped, not wanting to hear Jean talk about how he missed them. If he really cared about all of them, surely he wouldn't have left in the first place. He couldn't bring himself to forgive him. No. It wasn't going to happen, not even if Jean did decide to beg for it.
It seemed his words had been misunderstood, that was a good thing though. Since Jean hadn't asked, he most likely missed the part where he was talking about himself. He had started to walk away, only to feel a hand tug on his to keep him from leaving. He refused to look at him, but didn't bother yanking his hand away to free himself. The comment about wasting time, made him frustrated but instead of commenting he chose to remain silent instead. He listened to Jean's question and sighed. "No." He answered, never craving such a role. Maybe it is because what good is a boss if they can't even save themselves? I already died once.... I wouldn't want to lead a gang and watch them all die too. He thought to himself, he slowly glanced back. "She isn't one to be reckoned with, sooooo you should keep your pretty self away from her."
his indifference hadn't gone unnoticed. he couldn't help, but wonder if there was something else that was bothering aside from jean's abandonment and graceful return. he had apologized and had been sincere with the aplogy, but that was that. he wasn't going to get all sappy and start sharing his feelings. that would be completely pointless and more than likely fletcher wouldn't take him serious. as that kind of action was rare for jean.
maybe it was the feeling of nostalgia was stirring in him when he saw fletcher, but at the moment he wasn't ready to let him go. even if all they did was talk or sit in silence, jean would be fine with that. it's why he kept asking questions to keep him here with him for even a few minutes longer. had he always been this desperate? he would simply blame the nostalgia. even though the relationship between them was anything, but friendly at the moment.
jean smiled softly."really, with this new attitude of yours. i was surely thinking you'd be kicking ass and taking names."he said in a teasing manner.
jean couldn't help, but chuckle at the response."so you think i'm pretty?"out of all fletcher had said, that's the one thing that jean picked up on."so any chance you looking for new recruits? you know i have several useful talents."jean said with a wink."i promise i will behave myself, i'll only have eyes for you."jean flashed him a grin.
