Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Alain had woken up early in the morning for this case so that he could review the documents as to prove his client is innocent. During the trial the unexpected arrived when he suddenly got the news they had a brand new witness for the stand, since it had been in the middle of the afternoon, the judge had told the prosecutor to prep the witness so that they'd be ready by the following morning. So he took his client aside to talk about the case in private to find out that some things had been left out of the case file, so he would be forced to have them written in so that he would be prepared by the witness. After talking to his client, he would go back to his office to look over the file a few more times before sighing softly.
Glancing at the time he would see it was already evening so he would wandered towards the door to exit his office, careful to lock the door behind him before wandering down the hall to exit the building. He would then walk home, just to find out that Vaughn wasn't home. Not wishing to be home alone he would call another taxi before heading towards The Golden Crown. Once there he would pay the driver before entering the building. It was crowded tonight, he only planned to have a drink and yet it seemed that the bartender was busy filling drinks as he waited at the counter to be noticed by him.
he was always in here. he was sure if he came a few more nights they would have his seat reserved just for him. there were nights he avoided. he really wasn't a fan of big crowds. then again, that was the best time to seek out a meal. though tonight he had managed to eat before visiting his regular spot.
he frowned when he noticed how busy they were. thankfully there were a couple of seats still open at the counter. that's all he cared about. he wasn't interested in what was going on. though by the awful singing he heard he could only imagine tonight was karaoke night. how he had forgotten this fact was beyond him. he slid into an empty stool. though there was a person sitting next to it. he wasn't sure if they were planning to save it for someone so he figured asking wouldn't hurt."this seat taken?"
only after he'd seen the guy's face did he realize who it was. they were not friends, but they at least knew of each other."what brings you here? i didn't think this was your type of place."jean said before sliding into the seat.
Alain took a seat, waiting for the bartender to notice him. He had noticed the stool next to him being taken but since it didn't affect him he didn't think he needed to give a reaction. That was until the person sitting next to him has asked if the seat was taken. He glanced over, noticing it was Elli, he knew him from work but they didn't talk much, not unless it was case related. "No." He answered, glancing back towards the front to see the bartender was still busy with other customers. Elli had asked him a question so he looked back over before answering him. "It isn't normally my type of place." He sighed, unsure if he really wanted to order his drink here or not now. He wasn't one for drinking, in fact he likely wouldn't have been here tonight if Vaughn had been home but he didn't want to wait in an empty house and so he found himself here, debating on if he really wanted a drink or not. "But you know how it is." He added, trying dodge the question of being here of all places. The bartender had come to him finally, but he couldn't bring himself to order a drink.
elli had taken the seat before alain had said no. he probably wouldn't of moved if he had said he was saving the seat. elli looked around to see who was bar-tending that night. his favorite girl was not here tonight. she was usually pretty good at getting him his drink first.
he really wasn't expecting alain to respond to him. it wasn't like they hated each other or anything of the sort. though rarely interacted at work as it was. sure they would be polite and greet each other if they happened to be in the same place or answer each others questions when it was related to a case. they were both heavily focused on their work and didn't really bother with small talk.
he laughed at his response. if this wasn't his kind of place then why was he here at all? could it be he was waiting for someone? he really didn't care. though by his next response it sounded like he was just here to unwind like elliot was accustomed too. he watched as a bartender finally arrived to take his order. yet he remained silent. elliott took the initiative and ordered a drink for them both. his favorite of his. rum and coke."first one is on me."he told alain.
Alain couldn't help but think this is exactly how they acted when at work, rarely talking unless questions were being asked. The only difference was they weren't currently working on a case, they weren't even talking about a case. More like personal question, not that he minded that much, he just didn't feel a great need in being as forth coming. Thankfully it didn't seem like Elli expected more of an answer either. "How about you?" He glanced over, throwing that question right back at him. As soon as the bartender came to take his order he froze, unsure of to do. He was surprised when Elli had ordered for them. He couldn't help but feel grateful, perhaps this was the perfect drink to get the stress off his chest so that he could head home. With any luck he would avoid having more then one, the last thing he wanted to do was return home drunk for Vaughn to see. "Thanks." He answered, slowly reaching out he picked up the glass before placing it to his lips to take a sip. The drink was interesting, not quite a favorite but he wanted to keep drinking it anyway, so he did.
elliott had taken the initiative and ordered them both a drink. considering how long it took the bartender to come there way he wasn't planning on wasting time. he got his usual and ordered one for alain. he seemed like a decent guy. they both seemed to be fully invested in their work.
if he had the time elliott would often follow up on cases he worked on. he was thanked and elliott simply lifted the glass in a salute and took a drink.
he was fine with them just drinking in silence. there was plenty of noise in the background. besides it wasn't like they had come out together. honestly there was no reason for them to talk, yet elliott disliked awkward silences. though it maybe not of been awkward, it felt like so to him. taking another sip while he figured what to talk about."so what's new?"maybe he just wanted to focus on something other than the terrible singers in the background.
Alain took another sip from the glass, regardless of what he might have thought of the drink before. It seemed to get better the longer he drank it. He had chosen silence but after a few minutes, Elli had asked him a question. "Just another complicated case." He mumbled, not willing to talk about it out in public. It was always hard for him to admit that he might need help on a case, it was times like these that he couldn't help but this the rest of his family had it easy since they were all prosecutors. All they needed to do was find evidence and a witness or two and they'd be golden, him, he had to prove everything was bull shit because his client was innocent. Or at least that was his job anyway. Of course he had taken cases of scum bags in the past, for the sake of wanting to try and help them out but that wasn't to say that he was pleased having to work with those people. He sighed, taking another sip from his glass as he let it take over. This drink was helping him relax, it was just what he needed after a long day at work.
they continued drinking in silence. honestly he didn't know much about alain. if he hadn't worked with him on a couple of cases he wouldn't of even known he who was. it wasn't that elliott didn't like to interact with others. he was rather picky on who he associated himself with, and there was the fact that he just worked too much.
maybe it was what he had done. he would always carry that guilt with him. perhaps that why he had changed to defense. he wanted to in a way protect those that couldn't protect themselves. he laughed internally. that was the stupidest thing he had ever thought. there was no redemption from what he had done. he had found it ironic how he had almost died.
sometimes he wished he had maybe then the guilt he felt would go away. he needed another drink. this self-reflection was not helping him unwind at all. after getting another drink he nodded at alain. understand that they really couldn't talk about exact details. there were too many ears.
"well if you need a second opinion my door's always open."he told him with a nod. bringing the cup to his lips. he offered his help. if he wanted fine and if he didn't that would be great too.
Alain couldn't help but feel grateful when Elli had offered his opinion by stating his door was always open. "Same to you." He answered back, unless he was in a case or not in the office but Elli would be able to figure that out surely. He placed the glass to his lips and finished off the drink. He would then set it on the counter, sighing slightly. Before he forgot, he figured it would be best to message Vaughn, he was hoping he wouldn't get drunk but if there was the slightest chance he did, he wanted his husband to know about it before hand. To his relief his husband had replied back to him, so the texting continued while he ordered another drink from the bartender. This time he had ordered two drinks, figuring that Elli could use another one, he couldn't place his finger on it but he looked like he was going to need it. The bartender was quick to give them their drinks and he lifted the glass. "Down the hatch." He muttered before drinking from the glass, no longer taking it as slow as he had only moments prior.
elliott nodded in acknowledgement. he might pay him a visit sometime. it would depend on what case he had to work on next."thanks, i'll keep that in mind."it's not like elliott knew everything there was to know. he often asked for other's opinions. he didn't ask them for help upfront, but would ask them questions pertaining to his own doubts. he accepted criticism and even though it pissed him off he would accept it without saying anything back. maybe a word of thanks or a simply nod.
elliott had finished his second drink when alain had waved the bartender over bring two more."thanks."elliott said as he lifted the glass to his lips. he watched alain down the second one rather fast. he couldn't help, but laugh and shake his head."whoa, slow down there. you must really of had a rough day if you're downing it that fast."saying that as elliott was already working on his third. though elliott did have a bit more of a tolerance to them.
Alain didn't mind paying for his drink, it was the least he could do having gotten a free one only moments prior. Now he couldn't help but laugh when he had finished his drink just for Elli to make his comment to him. "Somewhat, I suppose." He admitted, trying to figure out how he would dodge having anymore drinks. He knew he'd likely be in trouble if he managed to get drunk, so having a third one wasn't an option. With a small sigh, he stood from the stool that he had been sitting on only moments prior. "I should head out before I drink another one. I don't want to get drunk just before court." He whispered, knowing that Elli would know about that feeling all to well, now how he would handle it would be up to Elli. He would wave towards Elli before heading towards the door, reaching out to open it. To his surprise the door had opened too quickly and he managed to get smacked in the nose by it. "Ow..." He mumbled, rubbing how now bloody nose.
elliott couldn't help, but laugh."then maybe you should have another if it's been that kind of day."elliott offered up his own drink. though it seemed like he wasn't planning on taking it. elliott watched as alain decided it was best if his limit was just two drinks."please tell me you didn't drink on an empty stomach?"elliott called out to him as he sat back and watched the events unfold.
elliott nodded, agreeing with him on not needing to get drunk on a day before court. by the looks of him, it seemed like his alcohol tolerance was not that great. alain managed to wave elliott goodbye and he didn't bother returning the favor. he was too busy watching what alain was going to do next. it happened rather fast. the alain reaching for the door and the door opening right in his face. elliott turned away trying to not to laugh.
alain was really hopeless right now. elliott threw his money on the counter, enough to cover their drinks and headed towards alain with a couple of clean napkins. he could smell the blood before he even walked towards him. placing a hand on his shoulder elliott tried to guide him outside."here take this. look down. the bleed should stop."
Alain knew that the drink might help but it also might cause problems, of course when he had tried avoiding problems, nothing could have prepared him for the door smacking him in the nose until was already too late. He pressed his nose closed, trying to stop the bleeding but it just wouldn't work. He let go to remove his glasses, making it impossible to see without them on but his nose was starting to feel slightly better. He heard somebody walk by him, the voice sounded like it was coming from Elli as he was guided outside. "Do what?" He asked, unable to see because it hurt to put his glasses back on his nose. He reached for what Elli had to give him, struggling with grabbing it since he couldn't see. After a few minutes he finally figured out where the napkins were at and what Elli was suggesting that he do with them. As soon as his nose stopped hurting, he carefully placed his glasses back on the rim of his nose so that he could see him one more. "Thanks so much." He felt embarrassed that he needed the help, getting smacked by the door hadn't been on his to due list.
elliott sighed softly. he was so helpless he couldn't just stand by and let him get hit again. he hadn't even moved from the spot he had been struck by the door. elli went to him and guided him outside and away from the door. people that had been happening to walk in gave them weird looks."you should see the other guy."elli said with a laugh.
he didn't care what they thought. though for him to strike up any form of a joke was a little unusual for him. he handed him the napkins to alain and watched him fail for a few seconds. he sighed once more as he was reaching to take them back from him and help him with his bloody nose. though it seemed like he finally managed.
"don't mention it. you're such a helpless child. i couldn't just let you struggle like that."elli told him another sigh."do you want me to take you home?"
Alain had ignored the comment, too focused on trying to get his nose to stop bleeding when he was forced to remove his glasses so that his nose would no longer be in pain. As soon as the bleeding had come to an end, he had put his glasses back on to see Elli. He chuckled when Elli had called him a helpless child. "Wait.... are you serious?" He blushed, thinking it was possible Elli wasn't just joking around. "You know I'm an adult right?" He teased him back, not meaning to throw ages around but he honestly thought he was older than Elli, but now he wasn't so sure. "No no, I'll be fine..." He wasn't sure if Vaughn would be okay with him going home with Elli even if it was just being a caring gesture. "Though I think going home now rather then later is a better idea..." He answered, not remembering the number to call a taxi.
