Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. She continues her silent prayer, ears tuned for the presence of intruders. A sound catches her attention, then another. Silence accompanied the eerie beauty of night as citizens retreated to the safety of their homes for the evening. The blue sky had transformed into an endless black dotted with stars with the moon hanging as the primary beacon. Moonlight touched the earth softly, revealing the faint outlines, but hiding the details. The cover for felons who quietly crept through the shadows in preparation for unlawful occupations, faces obscured by their closest friend, darkness. It generated a strict requirement for alertness given the condition and circumstances. With terrors and Assembly members likely on the prowl among the miscreants, night had become a world of danger. Despite the lingering sense of possible peril, a broad, lip-tight smile remained across Aliana's lips as she wandered through the streets with an aimlessness. During the evening hours, her adventurous attitude as lured her from her home as a restlessness had consumed her. After weeks of night patrols, her sleeping schedule was skewed which resulted in long evenings.
[break][break]
Several hours were dedicated to futile sleeping attempts, thus the young woman decided to venture outside. Her clothing consisted of casual wear while she wandered the streets. A simple, thick dark gray hoodie wrapped around her shoulders while black leggings covered her slender legs. The footwear was standard, consisting of a meagre pair of running shoes oftentimes worn during moments of carelessness. The siren's incredibly long hair flowed downwards, past her shoulders and reaching her hips. While the woman walked through the streets, her pockets were hidden within the pleasant warmth of her pockets where soft material surrounded them. Gradually, her red eyes swept through the area, making certain that nobody was preying upon her. As the walk progressed, she drew closer to the destination of the night, Calico Forest. While the streets bathed in the light provided by the numerous streetlamps, the forest maintained a darkness.
[break][break]
Street disappeared to rough, dirt roads that weaved endlessly through the forest. Trees reached towards the skies above Aliana, blocking the faint moonlight that guided her safely around the hazards. Darkness encompassed a majority of the landscape beneath the canopy of leaves. There were faint rustling noises as the wind played with the branches in the trees and the nightly critters went about their business. Occasionally, there was the faint who from a lonely owl who stalked the forest for small rodents, although, remained hidden to the woman's eyes. Despite the increase of hiding places for potential threats, the woman kept a nonchalant disposition as she continued down the path, occasionally checking for danger. There was a gentle hum leaving her graceful lips as she continued, ceasing when the sounds of rustling increase. An eyebrow lifted, the woman gazing around with her bright red eyes. Through the noises, she narrowly heard the pleasant sound of a feminine voice.
[break][break]
The lyrics of a song drifted through the trees, Aliana allowing her sound manipulation to assist in detection. While the singing continued, the ravenette paused on the path, her eyes staring in the direction of the singer. There was only slight hesitation until Aliana abandoned the path, moving into the grass and towards the source of the song. Caution was avoided in her steps, the woman activating her sound manipulation to lower the output, muting her movements entirely as she drew closer to the source. There was a faint trickling of a stream, the ravenette kneeling closer to watch the scene that unfolded near the creek. Silently, Aliana watched as the woman, the night obscuring her features and resulting in her being a faint outline. There was the sound of snapping twigs a few feet away, the siren's red eyes flitting towards the sound. When the rustling of movement arrived, it became obvious that the stranger had detected the noise as well.
[break][break]
There was a grimace as the ravenette noticed the dark figure amidst the trees, possibly a terror or something remotely human. Narrowly, Aliana managed to hold her tongue, avoiding a swear slipping from her lips and revealing her location. She crept backwards slowly, keeping her sounds muted in hopes the creature would fail to notice her. While the siren's abilities were incredible, she had neglected to grab the brilliant sabre she used in combat and this situation could get ugly quickly.
“Come out Michael, there’s no point in pretending not to be there.”
A tall man steps from the shadows, a smirk on his face. He is older, unkempt as though he had forgone a shower in the last few days, scruff marking where he had neglected to shave. In his rough, calloused hands he himself held a gun. Taking a few steps towards her, he raised his hands in mock surrender and chuckled.
“I should have now not to underestimate you. They warned me that you wouldn’t be easy to catch off guard.”
Flipping the safety off her gun, Viktoriya stared dead on, her blank expression unchanging. She traced his movements, reacting the second he aimed for her by lowering her arm and firing straight into his leg. He collapsed immediately, clutching his leg with a groan.
“Did they also tell you that I don’t have time for games. I am not amused with your behaviour Michael. I expected better from you. You were always one of the best, it’s a shame you have to die. It truly is a waste of your talents”
Viktoriya raised her gun, aiming for his head. She was not saddened, she could not afford to form an attachment to the man she had grown up with, trained with. They had gone separate ways and now here he was with the goal to bring her back or kill her. No one escaped the men who had taken them as children. All who tried were executed publicly to teach the others a lesson. Taking a deep breath, she readied herself to fire when suddenly Michael lunged, tackling her to the ground.

There was the soft trickling of water, the subtle crunch of footsteps on the grass as the figure moved closer. Quietly, the RCMP officer took a few steps backwards, still invoking the steady use of her sound manipulation to silence the complaints from the surrounding brush. Fortunately, Aliana’s dark coloured hair and clothing allowed for the woman to blend into the darker sections of forest and deep into a nearby bush. The siren slowly grabbed hold of her hoodie, pulling it over her head while shoving her loose hair back.
[break][break]
As she drew into her hiding position, the sharp branches of the bush prodded at her body, hence why she shoved her hair back. Without the fabric of her hoodie, the officer’s precious strands of hair could have easily fallen victim to a merciless tangling. The initial words to escape the mysterious woman’s lips resulted in Aliana freezing, heart thumping hard against her chest as a brief fright breached her usually calm visage. Finally, the words were given a target, the dreaded moment appearing to not be aimed towards her.
[break][break]
An extensive exhale escaped her mouth, Aliana's red eyes peering through while she listened to the noises being made, the words being exchanged. The subtle sounds of footsteps as the man was revealed by the faint moonlight shining through the trees. There were not many features the siren could make from her current distance, although, she noticed his rather dishevelled appearance in comparison to the female. There was a glint, light playing across the metallic pieces of a handgun, making it evident the man was armed. Maintaining the silence around her, Aliana lowered herself into a more obscured position, not being bothered by the cold, damp grass or the slight chill of summer air.
[break][break]
There was no emotion on the woman's face when after a mere few words, she raised her own gun and squeezed the trigger without warning. The thunderous bang of gunfire was mildly startling to the siren, but from her RCMP training, she managed to sort through a plan. Two individuals with plans to murder one another, a pair of guns to handle and furthermore no proper identifications? Her best plan was to use her sound manipulation to momentarily stun them, then move from there as requested.
[break][break]
When the man lunged towards the long-haired stranger, Aliana rose, sucking in a breath before releasing a loud scream. Immediately, the siren reached to cover her ears as she used her sound manipulation to amplify the noise in the desperate hope of stunning the pair of attackers. Currently, the RCMP officer was attempting to devise a plan to avoid blood being shed on this evening, but considering the tense circumstances, she knew it would not be an easy situation to handle.
There was no doubt in her mind that she would have to kill Michael, he would hunt her for the rest of her life if she didn’t do something now. It was her life or his and she chose to live. Keeping her face devoid of emotion was difficult, she had grown up with this man, trained with him, survived with him. But if she ever wanted to be free from her past she would have to sacrifice the only good connection she had to it.
They wrestled on the ground, each fighting for the gun and soon enough he was on top of her, gun in hand. The cold metal of the barrel dug into the underside of her chin and she drew shallow, rasping breaths as she fought to breathe through the hand clamped around her throat. She pushed against the gun, desperately trying to turn it on him but losing her grip as a piercing scream filled the air. Her hands flew to her ears as Michael threw a hand up in defense, keeping a shaky grip on the gun. She saw her chance and took it, punching him in the throat and shoving him off as she rolled out from underneath him.
Viktoriya fought through the pain, shoving a knee into Michael’s head as he was doubled over in agony, then spun on her heel to throw a roundhouse kick into his chest as he stumbled back, reeling from the hit. She takes several steps back, throwing her arms into the air and summoning a burst of wind to knock him off his feet before diving for her gun and rolling back to her feet. In an effort to drown out the screeching, Viktoriya swirls the wind around her to create a barrier causing her coat to whip around her loudly.
“Who’s there! I’ve known Michael for much of my life and know for certain that none of his powers involve anything to do with sound!”
She had to shout loudly to be heard over the sounds of the wind, but was certain the other person must have heard her. There was little chance someone would have followed her, but it wasn’t impossible. She hadn’t exactly been secretive about her whereabouts.

Options were becoming limited as Aliana attempted to delay the possibility of death between the pair of brawling individuals, each evidently wishing the kill the other. The scream proceeded for an extensive amount of time, both appearing to have become disoriented by the sudden, thundering noise which left Aliana's mouth. Unfortunately, there were suggestions the pair could be well trained, especially the woman who appeared to recover quickly and even devise a method to block the intense noise. A grimace breached Aliana's face as she remained hidden.
[break][break]
Gradually, breath dissipated until the silence arrived, allowing her to hear the woman's loud shouting. The words were obviously aimed at the siren, Aliana plenty aware she interrupted the unexpected fight. Without hesitation, the black-haired officer ducked back down, focusing on making an illusion wall between the pair, rather small, but also obscuring both parties in the fight. Meanwhile, her right hand fetched her phone from the depths of her sweater pocket, her thumb quickly dialling the digits to the Lorsette RCMP headquarters.
[break][break]
There was fixation placed on maintaining the illusion wall, Aliana watching the pair quickly as she listened to the ringing of the phone. Quickly, a soundless barrier was created around her, the duel magic inevitably being difficult to maintain considering how much energy she was using. The phone was pressed against the officer's ear, the siren attempting desperately to keep both magical abilities up, although, the illusion was already blurring slightly, potentially allowing both parties to see one another. Eventually, somebody answered the phone, Aliana being relieved when she heard a familiar voice.
[break][break]
"Hey, Laura, this is Officer La Rosa, I went out for a walk in the woods and found two people brawling by the river. I need reinforcements as quickly as possible! And I mean hurry! These two are trying to kill each other and I don't know how long I can keep them from doing that. I'm already running low on energy and don't have any handcuffs," Aliana explained quickly in a distressed voice.
[break][break]
There were no answers provided for the female stranger's question, the request to reveal herself being ignored for the purposing of maintaining her own safety. The woman displayed some incredible combat skills, especially with the method she got the man off of him and later landed a variety of hits without receiving a single scratch. While Aliana held some hand-to-hand combat skills, she wanted to avoid a confrontation if possible. Once the secretary got all the information and stated units were being dispatched to the area, the siren hung up and shoved her phone back into her pocket.
[break][break]
Afterwards, the energy in her sound muting was disabled, the police officer focusing solely on creating illusions in hopes of disorienting the pair, unfortunately, Aliana was uncertain of how long she could manage.
