Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Yuri rolled his eyes when Garret had told him no, but instead of preparing to fight him, he sat back down. "You can't get information with me coughing.... Besides I don't have anything to tell you!" He stepped back when Garret's hand had a flame appear on it. I really don't want to waste my energy attacking him though.... I had plans and attacking him hadn't been apart of that. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw a figure, outside of the flames. He... he looks somewhat familiar.... He thought to himself, coughing into his sleeve again. To hell with it.... Holding this information back isn't worth it. He removed his blade knuckles from his hands. "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?" It was clear to him that Garret was interested in trying to kill him. I suppose Garret is planning on staying on the outside because he doesn't want to get burned.... well hell, what else is new.... He thought to himself. "I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I DON'T WANT. I DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK IN THIS FLAME CIRCLE WITH YOU, SO LET ME OUT!" He coughed into his sleeve again.

he young man remained stubborn in not answering his questions, even stating that he doesn't have anything to give him. Garret simply smiles and shrugs, drawing figures in the sand with his other hand. "Aww... fine. You don't want to answer my questions. What a pity." He muttered, then grinned menacingly while still looking at the sand.
Afterwards he could hear the young man coughing and shouting at him, asking what he wanted, adding that he didn't want to be in this ring of fire with Garret. The young man faced him with a smile. "Didn't I tell you? I wanted to know more about you." He replied, standing up and walking towards him. The smoke was indeed starting to rise, and even though smoke was entering his nostrils, Garret doesn't seem to mind.
"Earlier I've been asking you multiple questions, but some of those -- the major ones, even -- you've refused to answer to them." He added, only a few more inches away from Yuri. "I wanted to know your name, but you wouldn't answer. I asked if you were an AP member, but you just told me to ask my 'friend' about it."
"Quite the rude fellow you are, I realized."
From outside of the flames, Polvu broke out of his paralyzed trance and rushed into the flames. No, not really the best situation to do this, but he had to complete this mission. Other AP members were going to rush in to help in case he didn't survive this mission, but he knew he got this. This was just his brother, after all, nothing more. He wouldn't kill him just because of a mission.
...Would he?
"G-Garret!" He called out to the older male, coughing as he ran. Sometimes Garret's sadistic and insane tendencies are unstoppable, as well as his stubborn attitude of wanting to know another person despite their refusal. Polvu kept running, finally able to grab Garret's attention.
"Garret, wait! Don't kill him!"
Garret raised an eyebrow and perked his head, his eyes widening when he saw his brother.
"...I didn't realize you were here all along, Polvu. Whatever are you doing here?"
The younger brother pointed to Yuri with a tired smile. He coughed multiple times once more.
"A... A mission."

Beep beep, Garret just wants to annoy the hell out of Yuri XD
Yuri glared at Garret, annoyed that it seemed like he wouldn't have a choice in the matter. He was left with answering the questions and still being at risk of dying, or not answering them and most likely dying. A voice could be heard and he noticed that Polvu was talking to Garret. It seemed safe to assume that was likely his brother, the one Garret had been looking for. He had seen him around before but he hadn't bothered catching his name. His vision had become a blur before he started falling to the ground, having gone unconscious. Arms wrapped around him just before he had a chance to hit the ground.
Christina couldn't help but feel slightly bored, she had searched around the city trying to find some TRS members to kill but wasn't pleased with how easy the kill had been. As if lately it seemed like her targets were weak and not fun, not that it was that big of a deal but she wanted to have them give her a fight back. She had slowly started to make her way towards the old battle field. Thoughts she didn't go here very often if at all, it was a nice place to go when she wanted to be alone. She slowly made her way in that direction, stuck in thought until she had noticed the flames from a distance. A small smirk had crept across her face before she advanced in that direction, looking forward in seeing who had started the fire out here.
The closer she got, the easier it was for her to see the three figures, two surrounded by the flames and the third just outside of it. She created ice in her hand and threw it towards the flames when Garret had been distracted, slipping inside before catching the boy who went unconscious. Her arms held him up as she looked back towards Garret, that smirk was still plastered on her lips. "Fire beats Ice, but Water.... water beats fire." She giggled at her own comment, glancing towards Garret and then Polvu. "Awww, don't tell me that I interrupted something." She lifted a hand to her lips, giving a gasp for show, thinking the two brothers would want a moment.

olvu was about to say something else, and Garret was intent to listen to whatever his brother was saying. But when Yuri collapses after one last glare at him, he couldn't help but grin. Finally the annoying man had lost it like he concluded he would. "Ah, brother, he has no use for me now. Take him if you wish." He stated, shrugging his shoulders with a small chuckle. "Tell Zeredah I said hi, will you, Polvu?"
Polvu nodded frantically, then rushed over to retrieve Yuri, but before he could do so, someone else decided to do the job for him. Polvu knew this woman, however. That catchphrase she sometimes uses is all too familiar, as well as her white hair. "Ch-Christina..." He muttered, looking worriedly at the woman.
Garret's eyes widen instinctively, and he turns around, only to see that someone else has joined the party. Garret smiles and turns to the direction of the woman, eyeing her intently. Must be another AP member, since why else would she be holding the dark-haired man like that?
Then she gasps and asks if she was was slipping in the wrong time. Polvu opens his mouth to reply, but Garret beats him to it, giggling darkly. "No, no, not really. My brother was just leaving with the other man." He said, pointing to Yuri with a wink. "I heard from my brother just a second ago that you are Christina. You sound familiar..." He mumbles, grazing a finger through his chin, pretending to think for show.
Ah, but he does remember. She's a well-known soldier of the Assembly, and no one could just miss her that easily. Garret chuckles once more and grins. "Ah yes, I remember you."
Christina raised a brow at Polvu, curious on why he looked worriedly in her direction. She asked her question and the man who had started the fire had answered her. "Is that so?" She glanced towards Polvu, handling Yuri over to him. "Be sure to tell him he owes me one when he wakes up.... second thought, record it.... Yes." She giggled, turning towards Garret again. "Do I now?" With a smirk on her face, she watched Garret, waiting to see what answer he'd come up with. "That is correct." She giggled, taking a few steps back as she stared at him. "What can I say, if I can freeze something or somebody? Why not?" She held out her hand, forming a small piece of ice in the palm of her hand before closing her hand into a tight fist, destroying her small piece of art. "Now, what is a fine man like you doing away from Zeredah's role?" She was only curious, seeing as Polvu was a team player and his brother, not so much. From what she heard only moments before interrupting the show, he wanted his brother to say hi when he could have done it himself, assuming he was on Zeredah's side after all.

A
lot has been happening right now, and Polvu needs some time to take it all in; first of all, Garret and Yuri were having a small fight -- well it seemed that way when he arrived -- then Christina arrived to ruin the moment. Of course he'd arrived before she did, but it seemed that only thing he ever did was try to talk Garret out of what he was doing, which wasn't working at all, by the way.
When Christina hands Yuri over to him and begins speaking, Polvu nods, but doesn't say a word. Instead, with one last look at her and then at Garret, he swings the unconscious Yuri's arm around his neck and begins walking away from the scene. Finally he could slip away unharmed, but he wondered what Christina and Garret would be doing after he's gone.
Garret grins and stares at the Ice Queen, amused by the way she answers his questions. The young man smirks once she boasts about her abilities, even showing him a ball of ice floating on the palm of her hand before she closes it, destroying the ball. "Hmm. You are quite... impressive, Christina." He states, nodding as he starts walking around the edges of the ring of fire. "Even with the fact that we are opposites when it comes to power, I can see some similarities between us that only I could probably understand right now."
Then she asks what he was doing away from Zeredah; before answering, he chuckles and shrugs his shoulders. "Have you ever heard about the traitor of the Assembly known as Blood Fairy?" He asks her in turn with a small smirk. "Because it so happens I am that Blood Fairy. If Zeredah will happen to meet me once more... she will not be happy with me." He pretends to frown for show. In all honesty, though, he wasn't afraid of their leader.
Christina had glanced towards Polvu before turning her attention directly towards Garret. "Am I?" A small smirk appeared on her face as she stared back at him. "Is that so..." Though it was true that they likely shared similarities, she normally kept that to herself, but she couldn't help but feel curious on how he believed so. When he answered her question about the Assembly, she stared at him in surprised. "Blood Fairy?" She couldn't help but think he looked younger than she had expected, not that she thought she would have meet him in her life time or anything. "So Polvu is your brother, how do you think he feels about you betraying?" I'm going to get the subject off of myself and put it all onto him. He says that we share similarities and he is correct, I don't care which side wins.... I only joined for the money and I can leave when I feel like it doesn't benefit me anymore. I for one, am not happy that my brother is apart of TRS. It complicates things for me. She blinked, staying in the center of the flame circle. Escaping would be easy for her but she wasn't in a rush to leave, no, not at all.

H
er attitude amuses him, smiling as she simply says what she has to say. How about getting to know the others while he had the chance? He should've known that these members make an... interesting bunch. So much information about them could leak out of them any minute, even if they won't open their mouth.
He sees the surprised expression on her face, and he chuckles lively. What else more could she be surprised about? Perhaps it was in his age... Christina then asks how Polvu feels about him leaving the Assembly, even looking back at the leaving brother before asking him. He shrugs with a small smile. "Oh, he'll be fine about it. He'll be fine," He replied, chuckling. "Polvu did protest and didn't like it when I left, but he didn't complain after that. I'm his older brother after all." He added with a wink.
I could burn him in a crisp if he dares oppose me.
He then turns to Christina with a raised eyebrow and a questioning look on his face. "I'll ask you, Christina. How are you?" He began, snapping his fingers. "Are you well in the assembly? How are your fellow members treating you? How is Zeredah treating you?"
Four small flames suddenly ignite around Christina, forming a box around her in the corners.
Christina couldn't help but feel like there was authority when it came to Garret verses his brother. "I highly doubt that.... a sibling doesn't stop complaining when they don't get their way, that would be out of character." A small grin crossed her face. Just like I know that Nicholas isn't pleased that I'm apart of AP.... seems like we will be complaining about each other until I get him fired from that job or kidnap him so that he can't continue.... which ever comes first. That grin still remained on her face, "Sounds like you needed more motivation to stay." The question had come as somewhat of a surprise but she shook it off slightly. "Bored.... I didn't kill enough TRS agents today." That grin remained on her face.
What a strange question, now why in the world would he be curious on my well being? Once more she found herself confused by the sudden questions. "I'm peachy, more people to work with over enemies.... though those enemies tend to be people I don't care about.... so I suppose I'm the one not treating others correctly." The flames surrounding her had come as somewhat of a surprise but she remained in her spot, unphased by the action. For now she would allow the flames to remain, if it started becoming too much she would take action at that point. "It sounds like to me, they must have treated you poorly for you to chose to leave.... unless I was correct about the lack of motivation...."

C
hristina did have a point about that, however Polvu and Garret had a very different relationship than she had with her experience; Polvu did complain about things that he wouldn't agree with, but Garret would always manage to convince him to do his bidding, or even trick him to do it. The young man simply shrugged at this statement with a nod. "Hmm... maybe... but I think we've had different experiences with our siblings." He grinned at the young woman after saying that. "I assume you have siblings, too, Ice Queen."
Her answers to his questions makes him smile; she said she was quite bored and peachy for not being able to kill a TRS agent today. "Huh, I could say the same if I failed in killing someone." He tilted his head with a seemingly questioning look as he stared to the left of the wilderness, as if talking to midair. "Oh, is that so..." He simply mumbled on her next statement, playing with little flames flying over his fingers. "Maybe you're right about that one, too."
Then Christina is quick to assume that he left because of how the soldiers may be treating him once, and he shook his head. "Oh, no no. They didn't treat me badly. They were nice." He replied with a giggle. "I suppose you are right about me lacking motivation to be in the group for long. But that's not the main reason..." His sentence almost seems to trail off at that last word. Then he grins and tilts his head to her direction.
"...I just wanted to kill people without someone else ordering me around and telling me who to kill, that's all."
The flames around Christina seem to grow longer and longer as one minute flies by.
Christina shrugged her shoulders, "It is possible...." She couldn't help but get the feel that Garret might have gone through extreme measures to ensure his siblings allowed him the freedom he desired... though she had her moments, there was a limit on what all she was willing to do to keep herself from being captured, such as harming her brother. She would never do such a thing.... "I do." She grinned slightly. "He is hot headed with the power of fire.... the exact opposite of mine.... making it very difficult for us to want to linger around each other for long if it appears like the temperature changes.... I don't like his line of work." She added, choosing to refrain from mentioning that her brother was about of TRS. Her grin got bigger when he mentioned how she might be right. When Garret corrected her for the reason why he had left she couldn't help but not be surprised.
"Ah. I see...." Her reason was different, though she didn't care for being told who she could or couldn't kill it was mostly for the money. As long as they paid well, she would do their bidding without question. Killing had become somewhat of a bad habit and she couldn't bring herself to break it. The flames around her grew longer within a minute and she slowly created water from her hands to smother the fire to avoid getting too hot. He should have seen that one coming though, she had stated that fire beats ice but water beats fire... "Am I your next target, Blood Fairy?" She teased with a smirk forming on her face. She wasn't about to go down without a fight, this might even be a little bit fun. I'm apart of AP but I'm also an assassin.... too bad for you, you don't get to figure out that last bit because nobody in AP knows unless they are an assassin too....

arret listens as Christina starts to tell him more about her relationship with her brother, and he nods and hums in understanding. "Hmm... interesting history..." He says, grazing a finger through his chin with a pretend thoughtful look on his face. But he did find this brother of hers interesting enough... someone who could wield fire like him would probably get along well with him.
The fae grins and turns to her. "This brother of yours seems like an interesting man... able to control fire like I do, hmm?" He clicks his tongue and snaps his fingers. "If I could compare him to someone, though, he'd most likely be me right now, even though the ones who didn't really like where each other worked were Polvu and yourself."
He chuckles at the Ice Queen's simple reply, tilting his head curiously at her. "Hmm... nothing else more to say, Christina?" He asks, the flames around them growing bigger and bigger every minute, as Garret had commanded these flames. But she probably couldn't judge him right now. Killing was a hobby for him, as well as a bad vice -- just as bad as smoking and drinking beer -- that he grew addicted to it and could never let go anymore. He assumed the Ice Queen was the same... she looked more like a sadist like him, after all.
Garret grins upon being asked if she was the next victim on his list. "Hmm... maybe. Maybe..." As the flames around her begin to rise up (though occasionally lowering down because of her beginning to smother the flames with water), he grins and ignites a flame through the palm of his hand.
"...Yes."
The flames around her begin to quickly trap Christina in a fiery cage, and the ring of fire grows larger than the trees; Garret would like to think of this as somewhat of a "tournament".

Let the battle begin! XD And I'm so sorry for the late reply ^^;
Christina couldn't help but smirk at Garret's comment. He was completely wrong about that, Nicholas was exactly like Polvu. "Well I guess you'll have to see for yourself just how wrong you are.... assuming you get a chance to meet him." She wasn't about to give up her brother's location, he would bring it upon himself because he was determined to help TRS at all costs. "It sounds like the conversation turned about my brother, am I going to give information about him? The answer would be no." Not even if they both could wield fire. "Wrong answer." Her smirk widened when he made it quite clear she would become his next victim. "Your other targets didn't give you a run for your money. I'm not them."
The flames had spread around her, she stopped creating water in her hands as she waited patiently for the fire to rise higher, at the last second she created water before rushing through the flames. Once on the other side she bolted away from him. If I'm really your target, you won't give up just because of a little bit of water, right? She would turn behind herself, creating ice shards in her hands before tossing them towards him. Then she would continue running forward, clearly having experience with her escape routes even though this was a battle ground. A lot of open area and nowhere to exactly hide, not like she was trying however. It was then that she had noticed him, the purple hair guy named Peter Pan, that must have been watching them the whole time, she fled passed him, knowing him as an AP soldier.

he purple-haired man grins at her words. "Oh, is that so... pity of me." He touches his chest with a small smile, feigning shame. "Not that I really care about meeting him, anyway. I'm pretty sure we both are opposite sides like you are with him." He stated with another eerie grin.
"Did I ever ask for more information about him? No, didn't I?" He talks back with a rather mocking tone, tilting his head sideways. "Besides, he isn't my victim right now. You are." He adds, then raises the fire even higher. Smoke starts to wave across the air, and he grins at the sigh. Fire was lovely indeed... he really liked burning things like this. Who knew he could conjure something this fatal?
"You're twice as wrong. Don't you see I'm trying to kill you right now?" He states through the fire, and as the fiery cage around her breaks and ice shards fly over to him, the fae joins his hands forward and torches the ice shards before it could even hit him. Through the corner of his eye he could see his target dashing through the flames, and he puts out his hand towards where she had attempted to escape.
I may have been a failed attempt, for she was already out of sight. He smirks and shrugs, turning to where she had escaped, but something else catches his eye. Another unfamiliar face, with purple hair like his... he simply raises an eyebrow and continues to stare back at him quizzically.
