Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
The night was perfect. It was one of those nights where you could close your eyes and just know that everything was going to be ok. That there would be happy endings all around for everyone. Or so Aidan Alexander hoped as he rounded a curve on his bike. Leaning to the left and his left leg almost touching the ground as he swung the corner going far faster than he needed to. It didn't matter to him. He felt free for the first time in ages. He glanced to the right at the black waves that looked darker through his tinted visor. Turning back to the road he noticed the long straightaway. With a smile he rolled the throttle and leaned over the handlebars of the bike, urging it forward. At the end of the long straight away he pumped the brakes and came to a stop.
He sighed as he pulled off the black helmet and shook his hair to get rid of the helmet hair he now had. Quite a drive, but it looks like I'm finally here...So this is Lorsette huh? If the rest of the town looks as good as the beach here does I think everything here will work out fine. It's certainly far removed from the usual underground fighting rings I'm used too... Aidan thinks as he stretches his arms and swings his leg over the bike so he can stretch better. He swung his brown pack and sleeping bag off his shoulders and squatted down next to it. Rummaging around in it for a bottle of water. Finding the item in question, he stood back up and took a long swig from the bottle.
He had been riding for two and a half days and he had finally reached his destination. He wasn't sure why he wanted to come here. But part of him felt like he had been called here. It just seemed right to him.
"Yeah...and seeing this makes the whole trip alone worth it." he thought aloud as he sat his helmet on the bike and walked towards the end of the road. His brown boots kicking up small puffs of sand. He was dressed in his usual attire. Brown boots, black shirt, faded jeans, and a brown blazer. not exactly the best attire for riding. But he had dressed for comfort, knowing that his trip would be long. Smiling to himself, Aidan glanced back at the bike sitting in the middle of the road.
"Guess I'll have to find a hotel..if I don't want to stay out here all night." Aidan said to himself as he turns back to the dark water.
Kurenai had come to Starlight beach after dark and when there wasn't a soul in sight. Why was she here at such a late hour with only the moon and stars to provide light in the pitch black sky? The answer was simple. She came out to train. She had slept in most of the day with not having to go in for training yet so she wasn't able to get any physical activities in while it was still light out. Leaving the crimson haired woman with only this as an option. Kurenai was pretty much a master at the art of earth manipulation but there were certain elements she struggled with such as sand. So there she stood on the beach not too far or too close to the water's edge with her feet bare in nothing but her shorts and black with red flame bikini top and her hair was just hanging down for a change. Her feet planted firmly on the ground, her toes amerced in the sand with her eyes closed. She was starting with the most simple of things, sensing the vibrations in the ground to detect any other people within her range. She could feel herself be one with the sand but as she thought, no one was on the beach at this time of night.
Next was to try manipulating the sand and bending it to her will. She opened her eyes but did not change her stance much. Kurenai's hands began to glow yellow as the sand that laid still began to rise from the ground up around her. Her hands and arms that had been extended out in front of her slowly crossed over one another with the sand beginning to take the shape of a boulder. She held it in place for a few moments before she lost her grip and it broke apart, the sand falling back into place on the ground. Frustrated, Kurenai balled her hand into a fist, letting it punch the ground, which caused the entire sandy beach to shake as if it were a 2.0 earthquake. Which would be more than enough to knock anyone with in range off their feet. Which it did to someone who had just come onto the sand within Kurenai's range.
Aidan who had been deep in thought and staring at the water felt the sudden rumbling and ground begin to shake violently.
"Hey! What the hell..." he said as he toppled to the ground and the rumbling finally ceased. What was that? An earthquake? Pretty good timing right as I arrive in town. Maybe its to warn everyone that I'm here now... he thinks coolly before glancing over his shoulder at his bike to see if it was ok. To his surprise the bike was still standing and hadn't toppled over. He sighed with relief and pushed his brown hair out of his eyes and got back to his feet dusting off the seat of his jeans. It wasn't just an earthquake. He felt that the source was nearby and he glanced around the deserted beach looking for what may have caused the disturbance. His eyes settled on a figure that was kneeling not far away in the sand. He was far enough away to not be able to discern any features. Noting the shape he assumed it was a woman. Noting the heat, he pulled off his blazer and walked over to his bike. He draped the blazer over the pack and headed off in the direction of the figure on the beach.
Approaching her, he started to take in the details. He noticed that she was wearing a bikini top and shorts. And that her hair was bright red.
"Hey was that you just now?" he asked as he stopped roughly 8 feet in front of her and noticed the small crater in the ground where she had
After having caused the earthquake, Kurenai took notice of the small crated surrounding her fist that was connected with the ground. Since she didn't feel a thing due to the nature of her powers, she hadn't realized what she'd done until she saw the crater. "whoopsies.." she thought to herself before being addressed by a low male voice asking her what that was. Assuming he meant the earthquake she accidentally caused in her frustration she whipped her head around to see a tall and very attractive guy standing there looking clearly irritated. He must have gotten knocked on his ass by her accidental earthquake. Realizing what she'd done, she quickly stood up, her large boobs bouncing with gravity's help as she did so. "Oh Gosh, I'm so sorry 'bout that. I was doing some training. I got frustrated and accidentally caused an earthquake when I punched the ground... I think it was about a 2.0 judging by the size of the crater that my fist made in the sand..." She said getting distracted before snapping her attention back to where it should have stayed. "I'm so sorry, you aren't hurt or anything are you?" she said concerned as she closed the distance to see if he was physically unharmed or not. She was soon standing right in front of the man. Now that she was much closer, he looked to be about her physical age. He was even better looking up close. "I'm Kurenai by the way." She said as she looked at his body to see if there was any apparent damage.
Aidan watched as the red haired girl spoke and then stood. Taking notice of her body as gravity did it's work on her chest. She was a little shorter than he was and her figure was incredible. He listened to her speak and noted her pleasant voice as she apologized for the earthquake. She caused that? She must be as strong as me....Maybe even stronger...And training too! these thoughts raced through his mind as he stood there staring at her not noticing at first that she had approached him and he could make out her features more clearly.
Calling her figure incredible was a disservice. She was beautiful with bright amber eyes, a busty figure and that bright crimson hair. He realized that she was looking him up and down probably for injuries.
"No, I'm not hurt. Thanks for asking. I actually just arrived in town," he said as he pointed over his shoulder to the black bike sitting in the road. "I was admiring the water when I felt your earthquake and decided to run over here and check things out..." he said as he smiled at her. Kurenai...that doesn't sound Canadian...I guess she isn't from around here either.
"I'm Aidan." and then not sure why he felt the need to share this information with someone he'd just met, "I'm here for a fresh start. Too many bad memories elsewhere." He said as his dark brown eyes rest on her bright amber ones.
Who knows....maybe it's fate. This girl, the stars, and the water. Her strength matching mine, what else could we have in common.
As she continued to search for any signs of injuries, the man spoke up, letting Kurenai know he was unharmed. Hearing he was fine, made her let out a sigh of relief. He then proceeded to tell her he was new to town as he pointed over his shoulder at the black bike sitting on the road. Curious to see it, she peaked around him from the side to see it, accidentally brushing her large bust up against his arm in the process but of course, she didn't even realize it herself. Once she saw the bike, she veered her body and attention back to the man standing before her who then gave his name as Aidan. Aidan mentioned how he had come to the beach and when he felt Kurenai's earthquake, he went looking for the source."I'm sorry about that... again... but I'm glad you're okay!" She said cheerfully as she smiled up at him. Aidan also mentioned how he had come here for a fresh start. He had been through a lot in his old home from what it sounded like. "Well, welcome to Lorsette Aidan! I've lived here... a while so, if you even need a tour guide, I wouldn't mind helping you out when I don't have work." Kurenai wasn't about to tell Aidan she'd been in Lorsette for almost two-hundred years. Much less her real age. He looked to be an everyday human and usually when normal humans heard about her age, they pretty much avoided her. Even though, he could easily be of a different race, she still rather not admit being 436 years old to someone she just met. She then took notice of her blue eyes looking into her amber ones and couldn't help but blush a bit. Kurenai also took notice of Aidan's athletic and muscle-toned figure. Not wanting him to notice her flushed cheeks, she turned her head slightly to the side and scratched her cheek nervously. "So Aidan, since you're new out here, do you have a place to stay?"
Aidan held his breath as the girl leaned over him to get a closer view of his bike. Taking note of the way her bust pushed against his arm. He couldn't help but notice how close she was to him. She really is beautiful. he thought as he gazed down at her before she turned back to him. He nodded to her and smiled as she apologized again.
"Honestly it's nothing. I was more surprised than anything. I haven't seen anyone else do damage like that, besides myself." he said as his eyes dropped to the sand between the two of them.
"Thanks for the welcome, Kurenai! You're the first to welcome me to this little slice of paradise. I'd love to have you show me around whenever you have free time." he added as he looked up at her still smiling. He noted that her cheeks flushed slightly before his gaze. He quickly looked to his left to the water and scratched his head awkwardly and blushed himself.
"Uh..No I don't have a place. I've been camping off the side of highways on my way here. A fresh start seemed like it needed to be fresh, you know? Completely wipe the slate clean..." he said softly as he turned away from the dark water and brilliant purple night sky. A fresh start indeed. Maybe things will work out here after all.
In response to her third apology, Aidan said he was more surprised than anything. Also that he hadn't seen anyone aside from himself do that much damage before. She looked back at him with a look of surprise but not much. I guess that solved the mystery of his race. He didn't look like any vampire she had seen before along her travels nor a golem or anything other than human but to have physical power equal to hers would mean he either a gifted human like herself or a vampire, since she was often told by others how she could go toe-to-toe with a vampire in a fist fight. However, these thought spinning around in her head were soon brought to a halt when he said he would love for her to show him around sometime. Upon meeting his gaze once more, she noticed his own cheeks flush red before he looked to the left scratching his head. It was nice, here Kurenai had come to the beach at night when no one was around to train but ended up meeting someone anyway.
Aidan told her he had been been camping off the side of highways mentioning he felt a fresh start should be fresh. Kurenai was a bit confused by his words at first shown apparent when she cocked her head to the side. It took a couple minutes for the light bulb in her head to go off and get what he meant. She remembered the other day, one of her superiors in her unit told her about low to mid level terrors being more frequent along the coast. Even though Aidan seemed like he could handle himself, if a horde showed up and attacked while he slept, that would something else. Kurenai thought about what to do in this situation and then it hit her. "Well, if you have nowhere to stay, you could crash on the couch at my apartment until you find something more suitable. I know we just met and all but the coastal area isn't that safe these days so it would be better for you to sleep somewhere inside. Don't worry, I don't bite." She said sticking her tongue out in a cute way at him with her joke at the end. Kurenai wasn't sure if he knew about the TRS or terrors in Lorsette since Aidan just arrived. So, she didn't know how much to disclose to him. Hopefully, he would take Kurenai up on her offer.
"A couch does sound much better than a bedroll on the ground. Alright K. I'll take you up on that offer. But in the morning you have to let me buy you some food. Any place you want." he said as he extended his hand out to her smiling as she stuck her tongue out at him.
"I would hope you don't. I don't either. I've heard the rumors about vampires around here. The neighboring towns have lots of rumors about this place. None of them good..." he trailed off as he thought back to the town he had stopped in two night ago. The barkeeper had been a big guy who spoke slowly. He had asked Aidan which direction and where he was heading. When Aidan told him, the man crossed himself and told Aidan that he should avoid it at all cost. Not just because of the creatures called Terrors but because of the vampires and other strange creatures that lived there. Aidan had ignored the man's warnings and left the bar after only 2 drinks. Because the man wouldn't stop badgering him about Lorsette.
It doesn't matter. What matters is now. You're finally here. There is a beautiful girl in front of you. Who may be interested. And she's offering you a place to sleep that isn't cold hard ground.
"Let me get my bike and my things and we can head to your place if you want. How did you get here? Do you need a ride?" he asked as he turned toward his bike and looked over his shoulder back to her his eyes meeting hers again. This time he wouldn't look away. A fresh start....remember....
Kurenai was both happy and relieved that Aidan took her up on her offer to let him crash on her couch. Even more so when he told her he wanted to take her out to breakfast the next morning as thanks. Kurenai certainly wasn't one to turn down a free meal. He said he hoped she wouldn't bite, neither would he. Although, what made her feel unsettled was Aidan mentioning how neighboring towns had been spreading bad rumors about Lorsette due to the nature of its inhabitants. Sure, not all people from hell and the undead were good, upstanding people but not all of them were bad either. She'd met her fair share of the unsavory types but she knew this place well and knew it wasn't as bad as outsiders might believe it to be. Kurenai's attention was quickly brought back from her swirling thoughts to Aidan when he asked her how she got here and if she needed a ride. It occurred to Kurenai when Aidan asked her that, she would probably have to show him the way which meant telling him about her gift. Although, she wasn't too worried since he didn't seem to be a normal human either. "Well... the thing is, I kinda flew here. I'm what you call a gifted human, one of my gifts which was also responsible for that earthquake is earth manipulation." She explained to him before backing a few feet away from Aidan and turned to face the dark waves. Kurenai's hands began glowing yellow as she pointed her hands out to the sea. Foam began to form on the surface and out from the dark waters, came a large round boulder. She spun it in circles until it was dry and then brought it closer to her before hopping on top. "This is kinda my main mode of transportation. I think my uncle called it 'geokinetic flight' it pretty much lets me use solid rocks, metal and even lava to fly around. Though I kinda call it sky surfing because it sounds cooler and it easier to remember."
Aidan watched as she extended her hands and squinted his eyes against the bright yellow glow that came from her hands. There was easily enough star and moonlight out that he could see Kurenai clearly. He wondered briefly what she was doing when a large rock suddenly emerged from the sea. Aidan stepped forward quickly. Not sure if it was something Kurenai was doing or if it was one of the Terrors. He relaxed when he looked at Kurenai and noticed that she was controlling the rock.
Geomancy huh? I guess the rumors are true that there are others like you around. It looks like you've finally found a place to call home. No more street fighting for money. No more underground cage matches where you beat someone so bad, you aren't sure if they're going to survive or not. I'm home... he thinks and he grins at Kurenai.
"That's incredible! I've been surfing more than a few times in my life. But I can't imagine what it would feel like to soar through the air on a stone. My way of transportation isn't quite as flashy though. My abilities, at least the ones I know about aren't either." he said as he gazed up at the beautiful crimson haired girl who was now standing on top of the rock. He wasn't sure why he felt the need to share what he'd been keeping bottled up inside of him for so long. But it felt great to just get it all off of his chest.
"I'm strong. Stronger than the average person. And I'm tough. I've taken injuries that would normally kill a person. He said as he raised his shirt to show her the various stab wound scars and even a bullet hole in his stomach. His stomach muscles contracting slightly as he flexed them.
"I'm glad you were here Kurenai... I'm glad I met you." he said looking up at her before looking away to his bike quickly.
Kurenai was glad Aidan didn't freak upon seeing her powers. It made her heart skip a beat upon hearing him call it incredible. The last time her heart skipped a beat was over 50 years ago. So it felt strange after so long. However, when Aidan told her about his past and showed her all the lethal injuries he had that would normally kill someone, she covered her mouth with her hands and had a look of horror mixed with worry. Even though it was clear they had all become scars that marked him, she still was in shock. She hopped off from her rock, leaving it floating in the air. Kurenai walked up to Aidan and gently ran her fingers over his many scars with a look of worry. Sure, she'd seen her fair share of hell over the hundreds of years of her long life but nothing this terrible. She looked up at him, her fingers still touching his skin. Aidan told her he was glad she was here and that he was glad he met her. This made her blush once more. It was so strange, Kurenai had felt this way in so long. It was hard figuring out what this feeling exactly was. She just knew being around Aidan made her heart beat faster.
Aidan looked back over at his bike and said he could follow Kurenai to her place. She just nodded. "Sure, no problem. Just follow my lead!" She quickly jumped back up on the rock. "don't get lost now." she said jokingly to him. She flew over to his bike to wait for him to get on and start it up. She could lead the way to her apartment in downtown.
Aidan's breath caught in his throat as she hopped down and ran her fingers across the scars on his stomach. Her very touch seemed electrified to him. Her touch was gentle and welcoming to him. He noticed the look of worry cross her face and he glanced down at the many wounds and at her hand, before looking up again and meeting her eyes.
I've seen and been through so much. Yet for some reason it feels like it's all led up to this point. Meeting her.. he thinks as he smiles again at her, noticing the way she blushed. She really was beautiful. And her blush seemed to make her radiant. He lowered his shirt slowly and watched as she jumped back onto the rock and headed toward his bike. He jogged after her and stopped at his bike. Quickly cramming the brown blazer he had been wearing into his pack and swinging it over his shoulders. He straddled the bike and picked up his helmet. Pulling it on he flipped up the visor so he could see Kurenai.
"If I knew the way I'd ask if you want to race. Since I don't I'll follow you obediently.." he said with smiling as he thumbed the bike's starter button and revved the engine. He waited for Kurenai to leave and then pulled out behind her. He was finding it hard to pay attention to the road with the crimson haired bombshell in front of him.
