Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
a small yawn escaped his lips. why he thought it was a good idea to come to his classroom so early on a saturday was beyond him. okay, so it wasn't his classroom yet. it would be once school started. the teacher that currently taught the class was retiring and who ended up snagging the position? well him of course. honestly kindergarten wasn't his first choice, but it was the only choice that was open here. he was nervous and excited to meet his students.
he scanned the room one last time before returning to investigate the rest of the building. sure the start of the new school year was months away, but he wanted to familiarize himself with the building at least. after all he had signed up to teach during the schools summer program. he wouldn't get kindergarten kids, but he'd be teaching second graders.
he made his way out. the grumbling his stomach was making would lead him to his next destination. he was still rather unfamiliar with street names. he knew how to get home, but he didn't know the address. he'd learn it eventually. right now all that was on his mind was finding a place to eat.
Hazel was quick to go from one injured TRS member to the next, being a field medic meant that she was allowed to leave the ward and help those who needed her. The radio was always turned on, for the sole purpose of being able to hear who was injured so that she could go to their location to help save them. She had just finished helping a TRS member with their injuries and parted ways with her, the member was going back to Headquarters and she decided at the last minute that she was hungry and she wanted to get something to eat before continuing on with work.
She walked slowly down the sidewalk, her mind was preoccupied with what she was interested in eating that she wasn't paying attention to surroundings. She turned a corner and on accident walked straight into somebody. With her mind focused back on her surroundings she was quick to apologize for not paying attention to her surroundings. "I'm so sorry. I should have been watching where I was going." She hoped he would be forgiving and not give her a hard time over walking into him. I've never seen him around here before, is he new?
after leaving the school he continued on his way. he wasn't about to head home just yet. last time he checked there really wasn't much to make a quick meal. he figured he might as well get food at a local restaurant. one second he had been looking at his phone and the next it was on the ground. he knelt down to pick it up, only to stop and look up as a blonde haired girl was apologizing. he picked up his phone and checked it over before putting it back in his pocket."it's alright. i wasn't paying much attention either."he said with a small reassuring smile.
"i was just trying to look up a place to eat around here."he told her with a nod, not that she was was asking why he had been distracted."are you alright?"
The guy had finished picking up his phone off of the ground when she had started apologizing to him. Thankfully he didn't seem to mad at their bumping into each other. She couldn't help but smile when he claimed that he wasn't paying attention either and confessed to trying to look up places to eat. So maybe he is new around here after all. She thought to herself, being pulled from her thoughts when he had asked if she was alright. "Oh yes, I'm fine." She added, feeling somewhat embarrassed that she had zoned out just for him to speak and pull her attention back towards him again. "I... am looking for a place to eat too. I just can't seem to decide."
he smiled softly. it seemed like he had run into a local. it was better than looking for something on his phone. he had a real person to tell him where the best places to eat were."that's great. not that i want you to be hungry or what not."he said with a chuckle."i just moved to the area. anyways, do you have any suggestions of where to eat?"he asked her curiously.
to be honest he had no idea what he was in the mood for."you're a local right? sorry, i didn't mean to assume. if you're not that's fine we can just wander around till we find something on my phone."he offered with a nod as he began to bring his phone out once more.
"so what are you in the mood for?"he was sure going out of his way. it wasn't that he isn't the type to be friendly. back then he would of just kept walking, but here he was making lunch plans with a stranger.
The guy seemed to answer the question she had been thinking about for the past few minutes. She held a smile on her face. "I have a few places in mind, I just was debating on the type of food choice I was interested in eating...." She confessed, "Any thing sound good on the menu?" Once she had an idea, she'd be able to take him to that resturant. He asked if she was a local and she lifted a hand to her lips and giggled. "I'm a local." Though she was in her TRS uniform, she couldn't expect everybody to know she was local or a transfer or not. "Though.... we could still wander around till we find something on your phone, if you want." She teased, waiting to see his reaction before giggling again. "I'm stuck between Chinese and Mexican food...." A thought than crossed her mind. "I'm sorry, completely forgot to introduce myself. I'm Hazel." She reached her hand out, planning on shaking his, if he would let her, if he wouldn't that would be fine too.
he smiled softly. Honestly it didn't matter to him. He could go for anything. He shook his head."if we do any more wandering I just night starve."he said jokingly though it came out sounding a bit serious. He wasnt the best at jokes, but that didn't stop him from trying. He cleared his throat and nervously ran his fingers through his hair. He glanced at his phone once more before putting it back in his pocket."I hope you know where you are going."he said with a smile."I like spicy food its actually my favorite."he said with a nod."or we could always flip a coin."he said with a chuckle.
She introduced herself and he took her hand into his. Did he introduce himself or had he been to busy talking about food to do that."it's nice to meet you. I'm Tobias."
Hazel couldn't help but smile bigger when he made his joke. "I would never let that happen..." She teased him back, figuring now would be a good time to find him a place to eat so that he wouldn't run the risk of starving just in case he was being serious. "How about we flip a coin for fun or go for the spicy food?" She joked, figuring it could give them something to do until she figured out something else that would be much more fun.
Tobias had taken her hand in his and they shook hands and he gave her his name in return. "It's a pleasure to meet you too." She answered, not quite ready to let go of his hand, but if they were going to flip a coin, she would have to let go so that they could get started, right? "I won't get you lost, promise." She wasn't about to let him starve, she'd show him the way.
Though she didn't want to let go, she had only just met him so her hand slowly pulled away from his, to give him freedom. "This way." She pointed behind her, having already passed the restaurant in question.
tobi chuckled softly and patted himself down, in search for a coin."sorry, fresh out of coins, but i like that idea. i haven't had anything spicy in a long time."he told her. they had shaken hands and she promised him that she wouldn't get him lost. his hand returned to his side."i'll follow you then."he told her as she lead the way.
he looked at his phone as they walked to their destination. his stomach growled once more. had he not had enough to eat? or maybe it was because it was just that time. lunch time. he almost ran into her. looking down and walking was not the best thing to do.
Hazel giggled when he patted himself down as he seemed to be searching for something. It was proven that he had been looking for a coin, from his comment. "Sounds good to me." She agreed, showing him the way to the restaurant. As they drew nearer, she turned a corner before walking up to the doors, pulling it open she held the door for him, planning on going in second before going inside herself. Once inside she would walk towards the line, looking over the menu as she decided what she would like to eat. "You can go first." Thoughts of wanting to join him lingered in the back of her mind, but she would allow him to part ways with her if he would rather sit alone.
he thanked her and walked inside. the place looked a lot more intimidating on the inside. he wasn't sure if this was a sit down restaurant. there was a line forming and he slowly walked over. he had never been so he didn't want to make a fool of himself or call unnecessary attention on himself. he nodded and had hoped she would of gone first. he looked over the menu. there were three people ahead of him. his eyes scanned the drinks, and the meals. it all seemed pretty straight forward. now he had to decided what he wanted.
eventually the lined moved and he placed his order. chips and salsa, and the taco dinner, that came with three tacos, rice and beans. he paid for his food and moved out of the way. they gave him a number and was told his food would be brought out. he waited for hazel."where did you want to sit?"hopefully it was alright to have lunch together. after all he had gotten the impression that they were going to have lunch together. if she decided against it, it was going to be a bit awkward for him, but he would eat by himself.
Hazel listened to Tobias order his food, still trying to decide what she wanted to eat. Once he had finished, she ordered three street taco. She pulled out her wallet to pay for her meal before moving to the side to join Tobias. She couldn't help but perk up slightly when Tobias had asked her where she wanted to sit. "How about over there?" She pointed to a sit near the window. It would be okay if he had another spot in mind, she just liked being able to look outside to see the view and most of the time the window spot was less crowded. She stood next to Tobias as she waited for the food to be prepared. "Sooo.... What brought you to Lorsette?" She asked, clearly curious but also trying to start up a conversation.
they had walked all this way together, it was only natural of him to think they would enjoy their meal together. so he waited for her to place her order and asked her where she wanted them to sit. he nodded when she pointed towards the window seat."that's perfect. i usually tend to sit by the window area too."he told her with a smile. they made their way over and sat down. it wouldn't before their drink orders would arrive. he picked up the straw and started to take the wrapper off as she started to speak. well, she was curious. he couldn't blame her, after all he was a new face around town. he smiled at her after taking a drink."well, i got a teaching position at the elementary."he told her with a nod. it would be his first ever teaching job, but he interned at a different school and all his evaluations had been good."i'll be teaching kindergarten in the fall. what about you? are you still in school?"he asked her, unsure of how old she was. she looked pretty young. if he had to guess maybe high school or a freshmen in college. not that he was going to tell her that. then again he did just ask her if she was still in school.
Hazel nodded her head, happy that he seemed to like her choice in sitting by the window. She walked with him towards the window, taking a seat on the opposite side of him. She took her water bottle and waited for the rest of the orders to come before starting conversation. He answered her question, mentioning that he would be starting this fall. "I work at TRS." Though it was common world wide, he might not know exactly what that meant. "As a medic." She finished, deciding that she would explain sooner if he had questions about it. She couldn't help but giggle when he asked if she was still in school. "I'm no longer in school." She couldn't help but give him a friendly smile. "I look a bit young, hm?" She flirted, excited to see his reaction.
he took another drink of his beverage and nodded while he listened to her explain she wasn't a student like he had first thought. though she still looked rather young. he figured her youthful appearance would hopefully be something she could use to her advantage."the terror response...wow."honestly he had heard of them, but it wasn't something he took much interest in. he blushed softly and he took another sip."i didn't want to assume...but it would be a bit weird if people saw you with an older man."he told her with a small smile. though he probably wasn't that much older than her.
he was thankful that they were out there protecting citizens like himself. he viewed himself as weak, incapable of protecting others. growing up if he wasn't attached to his mother's hip, he was attached to zach's. it was a little embarrassing. though he eventually grew out of it. he had to re-learn how to be by himself. which wasn't a bad thing."that's great. what made you join the trs?"he asked her curiously.
