Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Brendon blinked back his tears, dread and unhappiness seeping into his chest as he watched Josuah step back into the hex he had made. His heart seized and he started to move forward, crying out with both upset but also angered frustration at the idea of him turning back. However, he didn’t make it in time. The magic worked too quickly and he was stunted in his advance.
Hanzo burst in moments later, still in the process of healing the burn against his hand. Despite the visible distance separating the two of them, Hanzo still stepped forward, reaching out to grasp onto the upper arm of Brendon’s suit sleeve and draw him back behind him.
rendon's response was explosive, and he could understand his desperation. He had felt it when he first saw him. Soulmates were meant to be pure, they needed to see each other clearly or it would torment them. He had spend so many hours researching the different tiers of soulmates and what each one brought.
"...I'm sorry, Brendon," Josuah spoke up, just as his body guard entered. The burning of his flesh filled the room as he healed and immediately put his hands on the boy.
"Don't touch him," he seethed, unable to stop himself despite now being very weak from exerting his powers."He doesn't need to be handled that way..." he tried to reiterate, but there was anger clearly lurking in his features.
The male apologized to him but through the voice of the Imposter, and Brendon couldn’t handle it. He weeped until he cries grew louder and Hanzo grabbed him, pulling him back in a gesture meant for protection. The Imposter’s seething rebuke only gained a narrowed and irritable look from the bodyguard, who obviously did not trust him or his involvement in any of this, and then he turned to address his now simpering young master. “What has he done?” He demanded, erecting a ward before them to prevent any further disruption from the other male as he had now clearly shown that he was willing to use his abilities to gain whatever advantages he saw necessary.
breath parted from his lips of sheer...rebuke as Hanzo deliberately ignored him and even put up a ward. The bodyguards power was far superior to his and the sight of someone else protecting what was his filled him with anger. But he was weak, and had to grasp onto the edge of the attorney's desk for support as his body fed on the necklace's beautiful energy.
It was never enough, only a tiny fraction to help him stand on his own two feet and it took everything in his power to not become violent towards the bodyguard. No amount of willpower could give him the strength he needed and never before did it hurt so personally to lack the strength he wanted.
To leave the scene would have been easier, but the older male remained, unable to handle the thought of distance. So silently he seethed, staring down at the ground, but still picking up every detail of Hanzo's company.
Brendon’s ears twitched and swiveled as he felt the magic of the necklace that Josuah wore. He could taste its essence and feel the way it pulsated with his energy, his soul, feeding it into him. It took a lot of willpower, but Brendon managed to compose himself. He straightened and wiped away at his tears, seeing Hanzo’s steel resolve as his gaze bore down at him in waiting.
“He didn’t do anything bad, Hanzo.” He finally declared and took a step back to smooth down any wrinkles that had bunched in his purple-red suit. “He showed me the letter and I got angry that it had taken him this long to reveal something so… crucial.”
Hanzo’s brows furrowed in contemplation and, reluctantly, he released the ward he had erected, giving the other a brief glance. “What has been revealed?”
“I do not wish to say.”
“Brendon.” Hanzo appeared for the second time today genuinely perturbed.
Brendon sniffed and stood straighter, pushing his chin higher. “I would like to sort things out, Hanzo. And… he’s going to become my guardian anyway.”
He could from his peripheral vision that the Imposter was weak. He still didn’t understand what he had to do with helping him, but it was clear to him now that he was using the necklace to somehow tap into his energy. The thing he was definitely the maddest about was just his… stupid disguise...
t was not in his nature to do nothing, but that was where his body was now. The necklace had sustained his life, but as the years went on his magical abilities became harder and harder to use. Death had always been waiting at his doorstep, but had no intention in allowing his life to be taken especially not now.
Eyes that were not his lifted to the boy, when he lied to his bodyguard, showing the very first sign of trusting him. It was such a good feeling, but still tarnished with his inability to be by his side.
"Indeed he is." The voice of Mr. Lambert entered the room as he stood within the doorway briefly eyeing the doorknob that had burned Hanzo. "Now if you are all finished taking up my time. I would like to begin the process, sit," he gestured and moved to his own desk.
Josuah watched Hanzo and then looked to Brendon as he moved to take a seat before the desk. After today he would be the boy's legal guardian...
The Attorney re-entered the office, the damage to his doorknob not going unnoticed. Brendon’s gaze roamed to Mr. Lambert as he gestured, quite adamantly, for them to take a seat at the chairs before his desk. Brendon was surprised when he found Josuah, wearing the Imposter’s disguise that he really hated, actually did it. He felt guilty with the feelings that plagued him and the fact that he was reluctant to sit next to such a visual. He wanted him back to what he looked like before! But maybe if they got this over with, then he could finally have that. He didn’t understand why he was in a disguise in the first place…
Moodily, Brendon marched his way over to the chair and made a point at sitting down as well. “How much control will I have over my own rules, Mr. Lambert?” He asked in a hoity-toity way, his nose risen toward the ceiling and his hands folded in his lap. Hanzo stood beside him, his untrusting gaze having lingered on Josuah. “How much will Mr. Ardel be able to boss me around?”
osuah tensed when the boy sat in the seat beside him. There was still distance between them but not nearly enough. His finger tapped impatiently against the armrest of his seat as he tried to focus on the attorney. But Brendon's voice forced his gaze to him.
He was so...bold and aggressive. But that was because he was young. Still, it was impressive to him that he didn't appear in anyway like a boy who had lost both of his parents to tragedy. Something else was prickling at the back of his mind and when he lifted his gaze he immediately locked eyes with Hanzo. The man did not trust him, but neither did he and they so the two would forever be problems to each other.
"...I have no intention to boss you around...," Josuah spoke to the boy, his voice low and body still weak. He could feel the hunger...the starvation clawing inside of him, but he kept that monster at bay.
"Josuah by all legal means is your new parental figure...which means he has as much power as your parents did, but that doesn't mean you have to listen." He told the boy pointedly, and it was a jab towards him, but Josuah was unfazed by it. He wanted to work with Brendon...not against him.
Brendon immediately turned his hostile gaze down onto Imposter as soon as he spoke in that NOT HIS voice. His face was beat red from the flare of rebellion and anger that gripped him. The male seated beside him looked tired and worn, clearly sapped of energy, but Brendon didn’t care — he wanted him back in his real body! He didn’t want to hear his other stupid FAKE voice! His cheeks were so puffed out, his hair frazzled and sticking out every which way, that he looked about ready to release steam from his flaring golden antlers.
He brought his gaze away from him and childishly stood from his chair just as Mr. Lambert finished explaining what it meant for Josuah to be his legal guardian, and reached out to grab the document that looked to be the one he needed to sigh, putting it down in front of Josuah at the desk. “There, you can sign.” He huffed with clear impatience and grabbed the pen, putting that down next.
osuah could feel Brendon's seething gaze boring into him and he swore he could feel the heat of it too. But he kept his eyes ahead listening to the attorney begin to go over all the legal rights and obligations now set in place.
The dark haired male tensed then...when Brendon launched from his seat to snatch the documentation he needed to sign. He may not have meant to come off as eager, but that's all he was feeling from him...that he was eager to have time alone with him again.
He watched him with a weary expression, his eyes going down the front of his suit as he determined the distance between them. He didn't want them to touch and fortunately, his disguise repulsed the other male so much that he didn't hesitate to avoid his contact completely.
A sigh of relief left him as he wrote his name, and then signed it again...and again...and again. Until everything was done and a bar of keys were set into place before him. "And that is everything Mr. Ardel enjoy your new life, but know that if you break any of the terms spoken I will personally see that you're removed from your position."
It was a threat, because naturally everyone surrounding him was against him. Well, that was slowly changing with Brendon.
