Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Lyra was waking up early today, groaning as she yawned getting up out of the bed. An alarm clock rung in the distance as she got up from bed walking a few paces to get to the drawer holding the damn thing. She slapped rather loudly the alarm clock as she looked at her calendar hanging up on the wall to the right. It read "Daddy day" And she yawned once again rubbing her eyes. She knew she had to look presentable today for her father, although she had big bags under her eyes she moved to the kitchen to cover that up with makeup. She felt like looking presentable for her father's business was apart of the job, and although she could support herself by her crimes, she felt like getting this time with her father was precious. She brushed her hair out, and then went on to brush her tail out a bit. Cleaning off the brush and setting it on the counter top in the bathroom.
She then headed out to the bedroom once again grabbing her favorite dress. She grabbed her over the shoulder brown bag, which already had in it a number of tools she might need for the day. She headed quickly out for her small shift at the Lawson's Locksmith Co. making her way their by bus. She made it in time for her small shift, doing menial tasks like impressioning locks without keys. She was told to impression a lock, but she decided to take it as practice and picked open the lock first. Impressioning it second so she could make a cut out for the new key. People called in with problems leaving her father to go make house calls. People breaking a lock, or losing a key to a lock, needing the expertise of a locksmith really. She sighed feeling quite lonely, but able to have a few conversations with her father when he returned.
After her shift she made her way to the North side of Lorsette knowing of an area ripe for targeting. She made her way into a nice cafe, knowing that she'd get a good view of the place from inside. It was a small commercial building across the way, she had a binocular set with her, but it would probably be a bit stupid to use it. She didn't really have the best brain in the morning though, and was deciding on possibly doing it anyways. She needed to check the locks somehow. She then remembered her friend telling her of a telescope people use at night. She could just use that thing, and pretend to be looking for stars. She would look ditsy looking for stars this early in the morning, but whatever, she would get to stare at what locks they were using.
She headed inside the cafe, walking up the counter. She smiled, her ear twitching lightly from the wind of the closing door behind her. "Can I get some coffee please!?" She said a little louder than intended, she was still really quite tired. "Oh, and maybe some snacks too.." She had no idea of how to ask for anything special, so coffee, and snacks, that was what she was asking for, for her little stakeout.

The day had been slow this far, and Fennel was feeling restless. Tapping a pen against a order pad here, pacing there, glancing at his phone with his head propped up with a hand. He never really did like the lulls in the day, as it left him with nothing to put his energy towards. He tended to get bored rather quickly when left without something to do.
When someone entered, Fennel was overjoyed. Finally, there was something to do! His gaze turned to her and he smiled, an easy automatic gesture that was genuine in it’s friendliness. ”Sure thing! I’ll get you the best stuff we have.” She was cute, so he definitely wanted to make sure she didn’t get something lacking. Besides, he needed to keep up with his good rep - not that it was really any challenge to.
Moving off to go make and collect goods for her - he hummed lightly under his breath, a cheerful tone that indicated his happiness in the moment. Within completion of what he decided was probably a good idea, he set the few items on the counter. ”Hey, do these look good? I can always get more or something else if it isn’t to your tastes.” His voice was light and cheerful, hoping that he had managed to make a right guess. Sometimes it was a real shot in the dark.
When the man at the counter responded surprisingly upbeat Lyra couldn't help but get infected with his attitude. She smiled happily in response to him, looking at the materials that he presented. A regular coffee, and some sort of croissant with a chocolate drizzle on top? Lyra grabbed another croissant with chocolate on it, and looked at him curiously. "How much?" She was okay with paying for these things because she was going to through a little caper later, probably will be able to make her money back and then some. Lyra pulled her tail over to her side to brush it with her fingers briefly.
"So have you worked here long?" She asked him just genuinely trying to start a small conversation while she waited for him to tell her the price of the items. "I haven't really tried the coffee from this place before so I thought I'd give it a shot." She responded with a kind look on her face. "I might ask for more snacks, so you know just be prepared!" She laughed lightly knowing she liked to munch while she was assessing the locks on the building. Lyra paid the man some money, throwing in a tip because well his happy attitude was infectious. She gave him a 2 dollar tip, nothing fancy, but Lyra didn't like to part with her money usually.
Lyra made her way into the cafe towards the section with a telescope. It was the one used at night time for looking at the stars, as people studied or whatever. This really was a neat little place, Lyra thought. She placed her items down on a table nearby and began looking through the telescope, changing it's view to look at the building she was trying to study. She took casual sips of her coffee, thinking it tasted a little off. She also munched on her croissants as she inspected the different locations she could enter from.
She picked out the easiest location to enter from was the east entrance, and the locks weren't complex enough to stop her. Lyra was a locksmith by trade, and lock pick/ safe cracker during the night. Her skills were sharp as ever too. She grabbed the other croissant and began eating that as well showing no real signs of slowing down on eating the things.

Fennel has always been one of the few happy to work, otherwise he wouldn’t have an outlet for his energy. He gave everyone his best effort, so that they would probably feel compelled to come back. All he could hope for was that she liked his choices, at least enough to not dislike them. It was a good sign when she picked up another, showing that they probably looked good to her. He cheerfully told her the total price, while adding in that there was a special on muffins if she wanted any of those later. It wasn’t too expensive, honestly he considered the prices here to be pretty cheap. He saw lots of people usually, and most of them seemed pretty happy.
”Just a little bit, actually. I haven’t been here too long at all. But I like it here so far!” His smile is genuine and his voice reflects his happiness. ”Don’t worry, I gotcha. We’ve got a lot of them to spare.” He collected the payment she offered gingerly, putting it away where it belonged. It seemed like today was going well, as usual.
He watched her go towards her spot, until another customer came in and his attention was once again required. He cheerfully chatted with the new customer as they explained what they were looking for, and nodded. He set about making the hot drink that was requested, making sure to measure everything equally. Once it was finished he popped on the lid, and handed it over. The person seemed pleased, and gave him the appropriate payment. His eyes caught sight of the cute girl by the telescope, and he considered going over to her for a few moments.
He picked up another chocolate croissant and a few muffins, before making his way over. It was a variety, so hopefully she would like some of the things he was bringing. ”Hey there, brought you some more in case you wanted any. These are the muffins I mentioned earlier.”
Lyra was happy that she had such a energetic cashier who even seemed to like his job. She spent her time at the telescope, aiming the thing towards the building across. The place was owned by a wealthy business man, who she was following on twitter. He said he had a shipment of few things coming to this building. She was happy enough to try and snag whatever he was bringing across to his business. She also viewed these types of break ins as challenges. Could she handle the types of locks that are supposed to hold commercial type goods. She knew most locks, and she knew the simple types of attacks to use on them too. Not all attacks on a lock are pick based. She could twist a lock, with a foldable prybar she carried in her bag. A twist attack. Or she could do a shim attack if the lock was not deigned for defending against such a method. If those didn't work she could always rely on picking as long as it wasn't an expensive core or anything.
She looked through the telescope while munching on the snacks. She eyed over to the main gate, probably not what she was going to use to get in, but it made sense to check it anyways right? She noticed a master locks. Lyra huffed. A master lock? Disgusting, did they have no class? Master locks sucked! They just were trash locks most of the time, easy to break into sure, but very basic. This guy didn't think a lot on security. She viewed the other locks and confirmed they were master locks as well, one was a code master lock with a 4 input system. It was simple enough to decode, but she had a better method for breaking into it. She was deciding on her method of attacks when she heard a voice call out to her.
She eyed the muffins quickly when he approached. Was he going to ask what she was looking at? Hopefully not, she thought, she couldn't think of an excuse right away. She smiled while getting up from looking through the telescope. "Those look great," She reached for one of the muffins quickly without thinking about paying for them.
"Oh right," She paused pulling out her bag to search for some money. She was able to pull out a 5 dollar bill. "I'll take however many this will get me."
I think that chest must be heavy from that cross on your neck―
She was using the telescope, for some reason during the day. Was she stalking someone? There was the possibility that she was cloud-watching, or even bird-watching. It was surely one of those right? Bird watching was pretty popular, no? Either way, Fennel wasn’t about to say anything. Whatever she was looking at, just wasn’t really his concern. He was certain she wasn’t up to anything bad, she just didn’t seem the type. The only thing he needed to concern himself with was, well his job. He had to sell product, and make sure people were happy and comfortable. Luckily, Fennel usually was well liked.
It seems she had instantly gazed at the muffins, as he had hoped. Was she interested in them? They were really good, so hopefully they caught her eye. Fennel smiled at her statement, and nodded. ”They are! They’re one of our more popular food items.” He watched as she searched for some money, before retrieving some. ”Okie dokie.” He left her with the ones he had carried with, before turning to go get another few. Once at the counter, he picked up a few more to take back to her. They were fresh and tasted really good. After a little while he arrived back at her table, and set them in front of her.
”Let me know if you need anything else. I’ll either be back at the counter or serving someone.” He said cheerfully, giving her a nod before heading back to the counter. He looked at a note stuck on the side of the register, making sure he hadn’t missed anything important. Nope, just a notice a coworker had to take today off. Off sick, or so it said. Fennel didn’t mind covering much, the job is pretty easy. It was generally calm, everyone generally easy-going. He was happy, and liked his work.
Lyra continued to search the premises for the types of locks. This was so she could realize what types of attacks were useful on the make of the locks. She didn't say anything particularly difficult on the locks towards the building. She was slightly startled when the man came back up to her section. She remembered she did ask him to keep her well stocked on food items. He said nothing? He wasn't curious about what she was looking at? "Whatever" She thought to herself. It made it much easier for her to not have to explain anyways. As the day moved forward Lyra realized a good entry point. She however, despite wanting to break in now, knew it was probably not for the best. She came to realize even though the place was fully surveid she would have a much harder time at escape during the day. She had a rudimentary mask for herself. something she realized she needed after coming into contact with Klepto.
She began munching on her snacks, continuing to gaze at the locks on the building, and stake out any guard routine from the place. After getting a decent figure on the building she smiled. She had a plan in mind and was for the most part ready to strike. This wasn't her first time looking at the place to be honest, so she knew the patrol layout somewhat. She realized she hadn't paid for the last few muffins? He just set them down? She finished them and headed back to the front desk from where she was positioned. She was going to do a little reconnaissance inside for a little bit, before leaving for the day.
"I think I'm all done here!" She smiled brightly in the man's direction. "So how much do I owe you?" She looked into his eyes a curiously. She decided to try and play him up a bit, see if she could get away with a deal if possible, and say she had only so much on her. By her calculations she owed at least 3 muffins, but was going to try and 'haggle'. "Sorry I didn't realize, but I only have enough for two of the muffins, is that okay?" She put on a very worried, and distraught look on her face as she tried to get the muffins one off.

It looked like a lunch rush was on the way, so things were about to pick up. A shuffle indicated someone else had arrived, or well, a lot of someones. It was a hungry, and coffee thirty horde. Muffins and crepes were popular today, ordered bu many. Lots of peppermint mochas and classic brew coffee, as well. Humming under his breath, he moved at completing the orders as quickly as possible. It wasn’t hard, but it sure kept him busy.
”Alrighty then.” His voice is a cheerful chirrup, his smile easy and warm. ”Oh, that?” His fingers tapped against the counter, as he hummed a little under his breath. After considering for a few moments, he shrugged lightly. It wasn’t too big of a deal, if he was being honest. ”That’s quite alright. I can use tip money to cover you just fine.”
It was something that Fennel did quite often, as he wasn’t pressed to pay his bills. He never really judged others for it, as everyone has been down and out before. Even if they weren’t, everyone’s also forgotten to bring just enough money along before. ”I hope you had a good time! Maybe I’ll see you around again?” Had she liked his service? Or was he a little too attentive? Either way, he had treated her just the same as anyone else, and it was generally well received. As everyone he recently served settled down to drink their coffee, he noticed it was sue time for a break.
This could be time to stretch and breathe in fresh air, or to mess around on his phone for a bit. Retrieving the sleek portable device from his pocket, he checked it for messages. There was nothing new there, so he slipped it back into his pocket with a soft sigh. Well, outside it was. Better that than nothing, anyways.
