Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
it was as if it hadn't happened. them running for their lives together. once school started he avoided her like the plague. he wanted to forget about that day and everything that reminded him of it. which sadly, included her. he couldn't help, but think back whenever he saw her. her fear, his not wanting to let her go, the terrors and the constant running. he wasn't sure what was worse. her being an angel, at least he assumed that's what she was considering he had managed to glance at her white wings, or actually he couldn't think of anything else.
it wasn't like she approached him either. he was fine with how things were. he donned his costume and headed out. he was still a kid and free candy was free candy. honestly he wasn't sure what to wear. he decided last minute on something simple, clark kent. he even changed his hair to fit the character. it was actually rather funny to him. a demon being a super hero. whatever, he liked what he liked.
after an hour or so of hitting up houses rowan didn't feel like going home just yet. he knew there was going to be a party on some farm. the small group of friends he had managed to find him. so getting there was not a problem. the group seemed to split up. some heading to the dance and others towards the other activities. rowan was more interested in the maze. he was glad the line wasn't extremely long. he only waited maybe five minutes at the most before it was his turn to enter the corn field. who knows what he'd find. he hoped it wasn't too easy.
Willow couldn't help but sigh slightly, other then the fact school remained well like school... Her father reminded her that he had work and he wouldn't be able to go with her to trick or treat. It had been so exciting when she had first thought he had the night off but he had been called in at the last second. Since they didn't have a lot of money, she didn't get to buy a costume to wear but that was okay because she really didn't care anyway. It was just fun hanging out with other people and well not being alone. She had watched other kids hit up houses, choosing to refrain because she didn't want to get sick over eating on candy. If any kids came back with some really good candy, she would find it very difficult to refrain from going to that house, partly because she wasn't dressed for it. She would receive a text message from dad, hoping that she was having a good night and that he'd see her in the morning.
She would tell him that it was fun, as to avoid disappointing him. She slowly made her way towards the Halloween party, having gotten wind of it from a few class mates talking about it. Her plan had been to drop in and leave, not to hang out. Once she was there, she couldn't help but feel slightly amazed at all the different decorations. She would made her way towards the corn maze and enter, unaware that within a few minutes she was going to run into a familiar face, or rather bump into him. She heard a noise, walking slightly faster to get away from it she had bumped into somebody. She would back away, noticing the costume of a boy appearing to be Clark Kent. Unlike her, who happened to only be wearing a cute white blouse with blue jeans.
crap. why had he decided to go alone. it wasn't that he was scared it was more like he was bored. the maze for the most part was just that. he was expecting some scares or something. or maybe he just missed them. then again he didn't see anything about there not being scary things inside. sure he had seen a bunch of families running around with little kids, but still.
he had been staring up at the sky. the stars were out and he could see them so clearly out here. he didn't see the the small root and tripped over it. he stumbled forward and managed to lose his glasses, but other than that he was fine. he sighed and was relieved there wasn't a bunch of people behind him. it would give him time to search for them.
he rummaged around on the ground till he found them. he blew the dirt off of them and started to wipe them on his pants. he almost lost them a second time when someone bumped into him. he frowned."watch it."he said before turning around."willow..."he was rather surprised to see her. he slipped the glasses back on."what are you doing here?"it was a stupid question. then again he wasn't sure if he would see her here? not that he cared. they hadn't talked or even acknowledged each other since that one day.
it wasn't like they were friends or anything like that. completely normal for them to go back to ignoring each other. pretending they hadn't clung to each other, running for their lives.
Willow frowned when the boy had told her to watch it but once she saw his face she grinned slightly. "That's my name, don't wear it out..." She teased, watching him slip the glasses back onto his face. "I thought it would be fun to come into the maze but they did a really good job at making it too scary for comfort...." She didn't care if he wasn't scared, she was and that was that. "You look good, considering...." She added, looking to the side to avoid staring at him. They hadn't spoke since that Terror attack, it could be expected seeing as they had different lives to live. It wasn't like they shared a connection just because they had been running for their lives. "As soon as I find the exit, I'm out of here." She added, slowly walking away from him before hearing another noise. It didn't matter if she had run into him, she wasn't about to stand around and wait for that noise to get closer, she started running away from him and that noise, clearly scared by it.
as soon as he knew what she was going to say he frowned and rolled her eyes."that's lame."he told her with a shake of his head for emphasis. honestly he was surprised to see her. even more to be standing there talking to her. he still, after all this time had the attack on his mind. his mind went back to it, every time he saw her. her words brought him back to the current situation."right...everything is a bit more scarier at night."he told her with a nod.
he chewed his lip before finally blurting it out."im not holding your hand, but if you want we can walk together."he said feeling the blood rush to his face. why was he blushing. he turned around so hopefully she couldn't see his sudden embarrassment. though it seemed like she had other plans. he sighed softly and started walking.
Willow had bolted away from him only because the loud noises had scared her. She had never been a fan of anything scary and after that Terror attack, she found herself much more scared then usual. One minute she had been talking to Rowan, the next she had found herself so much farther a head of him. Of course the noises around her where still there, but being alone had encouraged her to stop and look around herself. She couldn't see Rowan in sight as she searched him out. "Rowan?" She called, trying to avoid sounding scared. She looked around herself again, "ROWAN?" Maybe he had heard her but was too far away for her to hear him in return, however, before she had a chance to figure out where she was at, somebody had jumped out in front of her. She screamed and bolted away again, still unsure of where Rowan was at.
he started to pick up the pace. dang that girl sure knew how to run. he didn't honestly believe that she had been scared. she had seemed so fearless to him. it was actually rather funny. someone had jumped out at him and he had only stopped for a few seconds before walking past. it hadn't helped that he had seen them.
his ears picked up his name. was she calling out to him? he stopped and called out to her."stop running."he said as he then started to move faster. he heard her calling him once more and when he heard her scream he started to run towards the source of the noise.
he hoped she hadn't run off once more."willow stop running!"he shouted as he eventually caught sight of her. the way she was sounding, it reminded him of his fear back when they had runaway from terrors together. he should of checked up on her afterwards. once they had made it to the trs building he lost sight of her. his parents ended up sending someone to pick him up. it was rather embarrassing and he lied about how he had gotten there in the first place.
Willow could hear him, but it was faint. She had called out his name again, but instead of seeing him, somebody had jumped out to scare the shit out of her, so she ran away from them. She heard her name being called, somewhere from behind her but she couldn't hear him. Tears fell from her eyes as she thought that she was going to be stuck in here for the rest of the night. Scared and alone, there was nothing worse than that. Where is he? She thought to herself, crouching as she sat on the ground before wrapping her arms around her knees to pull them closer. More tears fell from her eyes as she remained in her spot, unsure on where anybody else might be walking, she was just too tired to keep running. She still hadn't been found by Rowan. Maybe he changed his mind after he saw me run away earlier? She thought to herself, feeling sorrowful.
he was starting to worry. there were only so many different paths she could of taken. okay maybe it seemed like there were tons of paths because it was dark now. the most he had seen was three. he had gone to the left and ended up in a dead end. he wasn't about to go through the stalks of corn. the last thing he needed was to get lost himself.
he backtracked and took the other path. calling out to her once more. surely he had to be close. the path he had chosen this time was not a dead end. there had been a time where he could hear her, but now he didn't even hear her calling his name.
he started to slow down when his ears picked up a noise. he stopped trying to make sense of what it was. he wasn't sure if it was someone making weird noises, like one of the people hiding in the corn maze or something different. whatever it was it sounded like it wasn't too far away.
he continued to walk towards the source of the noise. only when he got closer did it finally register that it was someone crying. as soon as he caught sight of her his heart ached at the sight. he rushed towards her and without thinking he fell to his knees in front of her, his arms awkwardly wrapping around her."i found you."whispering gently. he didn't care who happened upon them. he had finally found her.
Willow noticed somebody kneel in front of her before wrapping their arms around her. To his whisper, she wrapped her arms around him. "Oh Rowan..." She whispered, feeling so scared that she was out here. Though this was supposed to be a fun activity she couldn't bring herself to enjoy it, not when she had almost died from AP and their Terrors. "Thank you." She whispered, still feeling tears falling from her eyes. It took effort for her to try and force herself to stop crying, it was harder then she thought it would be, though instead of sorrowful tears, she felt joy. "I'm sorry." She whispered, embarrassed that he had caught her crying out here.
she whispered his name and he hugged her tighter. as funny as this was, he wasn't expecting her to be in tears. it was obviously clear that she had really been scared. he patted her head in an attempt to comfort her."it's alright."he said softly as he pulled away just enough to wipe her tears. he would be there for as long as she needed him to be.
there were a couple of people that had walked by them. it brought him back realizing that they still had to leave the maze."are you ready to go?"he asked her as he let her go and stood up. his hand out stretched towards her to help her up if she needed."come on babe. i'll buy you something warm."he told her a soft smile still on his face.
Willow found herself feeling slightly better when he had hugged her tighter. When he patted her head, she found herself melting from the comfort he was showing her. When he pulled away to wipe away her tears, a small smile had formed on her lips. Despite a few people walking by them, she couldn't bring herself to say yes to him. Right at this moment she found herself overwhelmed before being comforted but once they left this place, things would go back to normal right? Them not talking to each other. Rowan had let her go and she remained on the ground, once more wrapping her hands around her knees, pulling to close to her chest. "I don't know...." She whispered, feeling nervous all of a sudden.
Rowan's hand had been stretched out towards her, she let go of her leg to reach out to touch his hand slightly. "Is that all? We leave this place, you buy me something warm, we part ways?" She asked, slightly pulling her hand away from him. "I don't want to part ways...." She mumbled, believing that would be exactly what would happen if she left with him right now. Ever since they got chased by the horde, trying to avoid AP at all costs, it felt like they might have some sort of connection but neither of them had tried talking it over at school. She didn't want to go back to how they were, she wanted.... hell she didn't know what she wanted, but him leaving wasn't an option, not again, not this time.
he wasn't sure how long they would of continued to be there. he didn't care that there were other people near by. it wasn't why he had let her go. he wanted to get her out of the maze. after all it was the thing that made her so scared in the first place. he pulled away from her so he wouldn't do something he shouldn't. it had crossed his mind when he was wiping away her tears.
he was overwhelmed with emotions. especially with what she was saying. he stayed quiet. not that he knew what to say. he repeated her words in his mind. his hand was still stretched out towards her when her speech had began. so many things could be said. he didn't want to hurt her with his words.
it's not like he could bring her home. not that he wanted to bring her home. not that he didn't want her there, but because of his father. her wings had given her away. how white and clean they were. she was an angel. his father despised most heavenly creatures. he'd tear her apart before the door close. he wasn't strong enough to defend her. he wasn't worthy of whatever it was that she wanted from him. a friendship?
rowan's face was warm. it was quiet for a few seconds. honestly he wanted the same, despite the thoughts in his mind saying it was a bad idea. she had grabbed his hand for a brief second. he walked closer to her and grabbed both her hands."i won't leave you anymore. i promise."he said as he looked at her while he said those words.
Willow couldn't help but melt when he walked closer, grabbing her hands before promising that he wouldn't leave her anymore. "Alright." She smiled slightly, believing every word. He had offered to help her up earlier, so she slowly stood up with his help. Being in this maze wasn't so bad with him being next to her, though it was still a top priority to get out of here as soon as possible. "Where are we going after this?" She asked, curious on what he had planned as she stood next to him, hoping he would lead her out of the maze because she wasn't completely sure of where the exit was at.
he sighed with relief glad that she had let him help her up. his fingers intertwined with hers. he wasn't going to let her get away this time. he hoped they were near the end of the maze. who knows how long they had been running around. well rowan chasing down willow. he never though the day would come. him chasing down willow. it seemed like there was a first for everything.
they started walking and he hoped it was in the right direction. she asked him where they were going after this. he wasn't sure. he had promised her a cup of hot chocolate. he wasn't too sure. though he wasn't going to leave her alone. if she wanted to go home he would take her."well, depends on what you want to do?"he questioned her back. he wasn't going to take her to his home. though if she needed a ride he was sure he could call for one. that was when he remembered he still hadn't purchased a phone. not that anyone ever called him or sent him text messages. he was kicking himself now. surely she still had her phone. he assumed as they took a left. the maze seemed to be thinning out."i think we're almost to the exit."he told her as he quickened his pace, but still made sure he was still holding her hand. he had told her he wouldn't leave her again and he was sticking to his promise.
