Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Silas couldn't help but feel bad that Umberto had protect him, it had seemed he was upset that he hadn't done a good enough job despite his feelings being different on the subject. Umberto had saved him and it didn't matter what method he had used in doing so. Shortly after Umberto had been upset over the subject he had decided to join TRS. To his great disappointment, no memories had resurfaced since joining. If it hadn't been for the fact the woman had called him weak, he might have changed his mind about joining, feeling a great determination to prove her wrong. He had been at home, finding it difficult to comfort his husband. When the girl from his death, Umberto had called her his sister, had come into the house, she had distracted Umberto and he slipped out of the house for some fresh air.
Within a few minutes of walking away from the house, not wishing to run the risk of being seen by them, he had found himself lost in the city. I shouldn't have wandered off like this.... It isn't fair to Umberto.... He thought to himself, feeling ashamed of his action. He looked around himself, sighing in disappointment and started walking in a random direction. Unaware it would lead him away from their house. Withing a few minutes he found himself standing at the outskirts of town. Well that was the wrong direction.... He rubbed the back of his neck in frustration, wishing to make it back home.
Alec was on his way home from a walk of his own. It was still early in the evening, but he was taking much needed a day off work to just relax. Humming a quiet tune to himself as he walked, he was off in a world of his own, focused only on his own thoughts. There wasn't much to think about, really, so he'd either up pondering how a tomato could be both a fruit and a vegetable. A nonsensical question to be sure, but there wasn't anything else going on in his mind. He was only drawn out of it as he passed a figure, a shade of red catching his eyes. "Ah, tomato." He spoke without thought, his feet pausing as he looked to the other. Realizing suddenly that he'd just addressed a person as a tomato, embarrassment immediately set over him. "--Uh, sorry, hello." He spoke with a nervous chuckle, rubbing at his neck. "Don't mind me, just thinking out loud." He mused, brushing the embarrassment aside and actually taking note of the person he'd bothered. The man looked vaguely upset. Was it because he'd called him a tomato? Oh no. "Um. Hey, are you alright?" He asked, unable to help himself. Many people liked to be left alone, but Alec couldn't help but pry when someone seemed to be struggling with something. He was about to continue speaking, when a familiar feeling creeped into his lungs. Not again. His body shuddering in memory of the last time he'd lingered to close to an Undead, his expression turned to guilt as he took a few steps back. He still stayed, however, waiting for the other's reply. There's was that deeper look of frustration in the man's eyes, something that tended to show when problems had begun to stack. If the red-haired figure needed to talk, Alec couldn't just leave.
Silas turned around to see the city from where he had just walked from, debating on if it was a good idea to walk back that direction or not. Within a few minutes of being deep in thoughts, debating on the direction he should go or if he was better off just staying right here, he was pulled from his thoughts when the stranger had mentioned something about a tomato. That is strange, why would anybody be talking about food all the way out here unless they were eating one? He thought to himself, confusion settling on his face. When the man had paused to look at him, he found himself staring in return. Maybe it was just a random comment.... He thought to himself, "Hello." Another thought had crossed his mind. It wasn't a nickname from my past, was... it? He once more was pulled from his thoughts when the other man spoke, mentioning that he had been talking outloud.
He sighed in relieve. Not a nickname.... I was right the first time. Or at least he would assume until prove wrong. Should I head back or stay here? I know the house isn't all the way over in this direction.... Frustration remained on his face, unaware the man was standing nearby until he was asked a question. "Umm no..." He took in a breath, trying to calm himself down. Before he had a chance to answer, the man had the face expression of guilt before taking a few steps away from him. Did I, did I do something? If he had remembered his past, he would have known elves couldn't handle being close to Undeads but seeing as his memory was foggy, once more the confused look appeared on his face. "Did I, do... something?" He couldn't help but worry that he might have done something to this man in his past that would have encouraged him to want distance.... it was highly possible after all. Who was I.... before I died? The question the stranger had asked him prior had gone unanswered.
Alec's look of guilt worsened, his heart stung as the other asked if he had done something wrong. From what he understood, most Undead had already struggled through so much, and now here he was, backing away as if they were some sort of plague-bearer. "Ahh, no! No, no. You haven't done anything." He corrected, waving his hands in front of him to dismiss the idea. "I'm sorry, it's just. As an elf, my physiology is incapatible with certain species. Um. Undead species in particular." He tried to explain, though clearly believing that it was no good excuse. "If I stand too close, I will become ill. But that's no matter. What's troubling you?" He asked, urging on to the next subject. Before discovering this weakness of his, Alec hadn't thought there was anything he would change about himself. But now... To be unable to interact normally with some people was just awful. He could only think that perhaps, with time, he could get passed such a weakness. Work up his endurence so that he could freely interact with anyone he wanted to. "I hope you don't mind, but if I just stand a few feet away like this, I should be alright." For the time being, at least. "My name is Alec. I take pride in helping those who might need it, if that applies here."
Silas seemed to relax when the stranger had claimed he hadn't done anything wrong. Thank god.... I think I've experienced something like this before.... even so, I likely knew about this before I lost my memory.... Not having my memory is just so.... so frustrating.... He lifted his hands to his forehead, as if holding his head would help him remember what he had once lost. He was pulled from his thoughts when the stranger had repeated the question. "I... um... am lost..." A guilty embarrassed look appeared on his face when he openly admitted to such a thing. When the stranger asked him a question he forced a small smile onto his lips. "If you get sick by standing too close, I understand your reasoning for needing distance." He tried comforting this stranger, the last thing he wanted to do was run the risk of making him feel uncomfortable.
I spent so long fleeing from people... Anybody wanting to keep their distance doesn't bother me, not really... He lowered his hands to his sides, giving up on trying to regain his memory that he had lost. "I'm Silas, a pleasure to meet you." He took in a breath, hoping that Umberto wasn't freaking out on him. I felt so alone until I found him... I take a stroll and I can't find my way back. I'll have to be sure to remind him that I'm the hopeless one... and he needs to understand that he protects me just fine. He looked at Alec, "I think I'm supposed to go that way." He points back towards the city, "But.... I can't seem to remember where I had come from to retract my steps.... I'll have to remind myself this wasn't the correct direction."
Observing the other, Alec knew his explanation had somewhat upset the red-haired man. Or perhaps, there was still something else getting him down? Either way, Alec knew he had to help, in order to make up for it. "Lost?" Alec repeated with a look of concern. Though he'd never been one to consider himself 'lost' even when he had no idea where he was, he knew that it was certainly a problem. Especially in such a big city. "Let me help you, then!" He offered along with a smile, taking a glance around to ascertain exactly where they were. "It's nice to meet you, too, Silas." He replied with a chuckle, then listening quietly as the other explained which direction he thought he needed to go. "Hmm, that's a problem... Well, I know this town pretty well. Can you tell me what area you're needing to get to? Do you know the streets or buildings there?" He asked, beginning to walk in the direction Silas had gestured, since it was his own way home, as well. "It's very easy to get turned around in a place like this, so you should be careful if you're not sure where you're going. Was there anywhere in particular you were head?" He asked with a look of interest.
Silas nodded his head. "Yes, I'm lost." He couldn't help but smile when Alec had offered to help him. "That is the problem...." He scratched the back of his neck. "I know don't where I need to go to get there.... I'm sure I used to remember the city but ever since I lost my memory, it has all been so vague...." It was so much easier to figure out where he needed to when he was with Umberto, letting his husband lead the way. He would have thought he'd remember where their house was by now but, he had been proven wrong when he hadn't made it back yet. "I was trying to get back home...." He mumbled with a small sigh. "I went outside for some fresh air and made the mistake of straying too far away and in my attempt to head back home I find myself standing over here instead...." His memory loss was proving to be much more of a pain that he liked to admit. "Prior to my memory loss, I'm sure that I never would have gotten lost getting home.... so having help is somewhat embarrassing." He confessed, trying to be hopeful.
"Lost your memory...?" Alec repeated with a renewed look of concern. He knew it was common with Undead, but... Still, it had to suck. It would be tough to help the man, but that honestly just made Alec all the more determined to do so. His brows furrowed, he looked off in the direction Silas had come from, thinking hard on what areas were in that direction. Being the chronic wanderer that he was, he knew many of the streets. "That's a difficult situation, for sure... Do you know any shops or landmarks near your home?" Alec, asked, crossing his arms in front of him as he considered the little information he had. "I'm guessing you don't have anything to contact someone with... Do you have anyone's number? I could lend you my phone." He suggested, though the suggestion just seemed too convenient to possibly work out. "There's no need to feel embarrassed! Everyone struggles with something every once in a while. I'll make sure you get home, so don't worry too much. Just try to think hard about any recognizable buildings you may have passed. Or street signs? Anything could help."
Silas nodded his head when Alec had asked his question. "Yes... I remember my memory loss happened prior to my death." The last thing he wanted was for Alec to think it was possible that he had forgotten after he had died, because it hadn't been the case, no. He also could remember the events leading up to his death, however, he wasn't sure why he had been there in the first place. Who was that girl that failed to save him when he had pleaded for her help. He hadn't wanted to die but because she had stared at him with fright instead of helping him, he hadn't been able to forgive her, unaware that she was his younger sister and prior to his memory loss he had come to save her from their evil parents. To the question, he closed his eyes to ponder it. Though he had been wandering around the city for a year, he hadn't been around their house very long so it was hard to say where exactly it was located verses the other places he had visited oh so often. "That is the thing.... I remember the city fairly well, I just don't remember where my house is." He sighed, opening his eyes before a thought had crossed his mind.
Umberto, he knows about TRS and I, I think I remember where that building is at.... having passed by it when I was wandering around town. There were plenty of people apart of TRS that could point the building out to him if he got lost. "Do you know where the TRS HQ is at?" He asked, believing if he wanted to find Umberto that might be the best place to meet up. Assuming his husband had started searching for him as soon as he had wandered off. Of course he is worried, I shouldn't think such things.... He was just upset when he couldn't protect me from that Terror. He reminded himself, determined to believe. Alec has asked if he had any phone numbers and he sighed, "No, I haven't held a cell phone in over a year.... maybe even longer because I can't remember when my memory loss had started." If it hadn't been a sign before, he took it as his sign right now. "I think my husband might be looking for me. I should meet him at the TRS HQ..." He answered, Now if only I could remember where it is from here... He would slowly start walking forward, hoping it was this direction.
"Oh, before your death?" Alec repeated, looking mildly surprised by the new information. If that were the case, what could have caused it? Was there some chain reaction of tramatic events the poor man had gone though? From his own understanding, Undead usually came about from rather violent deaths, as it was. It only made it seem all the more upsetting that there seemed to be so many around. The world was truly becoming an unfortunate place to live. No wonder his mother had shown such distaste towards it all. "The TSR headquarters... Ah, yes, I know that one!" He chimed, looking more excitable now that they had a place to start. Taking another look at his surroundings in order to pin their current location on the mental map in his mind, he hummed softly to himself. Figuring out which way they needed to go, he turned in place and waved Silas on to follow. "It should be this way. It'll be a bit of a walk, though." He explained, glancing back. It was getting a bit tough to breathe again, so he increased his pace to pull ahead another foot or so. "So, you said you wanted to clear your hear? Did something happen that you wanted to get away from?" Alec asked, turning his body to walk backwards. It felt weird, talking to someone without properly facing them. He usually had good enough instincts to dodge any obstacles. "I do that a lot, you know. Go on long walks just to think. It really does help, though you may want to bring a map with you, next time." He teased with a soft chuckle.
Silas nodded his head. "Yes." He sighed, not really interested in talking about his death. The one person he thought he could share this information with, he couldn't bring himself to tell him. Of course the girl, known as his sister knew what likely had happened or at least the part about his murder, he couldn't help but feel surprised that she hadn't bothered making a comment about his death just yet. "A touchy subject." He finished, trying to force himself to stop thinking about it. He felt overwhelmed when thinking about his past, how he had died at the hands of those people. He couldn't help but smile slightly when Alec told him that he knew where the TRS HQ was at. He watched as Alec looked around, most likely trying to figure out where they were at so that he would know which direction would be the best route to go. When Alec had waved him forward, he hesitated, wanting to make sure that Alec had enough space between them to avoid causing him further sickness.
"Lead the way, I'm right behind you." He tried assuring Alec, planning on following after he had gone a few feet himself. "I was clearing my head and well.... stepped too far away..." He felt foolish for walking away from the house. He should have figured he would get lost without having Umberto around to guide him... or that girl.... the one that wasn't all that bad to be around now that she wasn't just in his memory of being the one who failed to save him. "My husband is just under some stress, I wanted to give him some space as I got some fresh air. Though this wasn't what I had in mind... lesson learned, I can't go without knowing the directions back home." With a smile he adds, "Or a map.... a map would have been a good idea too." He added, finding it somewhat amusing. "Assuming I can figure out where the house is on the map..."
Getting a clear feeling that Silas didn't want to talk about anything related to his death, Alec let that conversation fall as he continued walking. He figured most Undead wouldn't want to talk about it, afterall. Not to a stranger, at least. He couldn't help but smile as he realized Silas was purposely putting more distance between them, knowing it wasn't that necessary, but it was still a sweet gesture. "Right, that can happen. I've ended up aaall the way on the other side of town multiple times, that way. Good way to learn the streets, at least! Um, assuming you follow the right ones back." He spoke, chuckling. "I see, I see..." He continued, though he didn't quite understand. Wouldn't someone who's feeling stressed prefer to have their significant other next to them, rather than out getting lost? He had to ponder it a moment, though of course he didn't have enough information to really come to a conclusion. "Mm, well that's the easy part. When you get a map, just ask someone to mark it down for you! Though, you never really see people using maps these days..." He noted, keeping his arms behind him as he walked. "So, what's your affiliation with the TRS? Is there a plan, once we get there?" He asked, curiously. "I haven't met many people from that organization since I moved here, but it seems like a good cause. I think." He added with a slight laugh. The concept of 'good' and 'bad' was still something he struggled to differentiate between at times. He certainly wasn't one to choose sides. "Well, the people I have met that are a part of it have seemed nice, at least."
Silas chuckled, "Well that is the thing.... the part I can't remember is which street the house is on..... I'm sure I could wander around town and find other places without any trouble at all, but my goal was to go home." He shrugged his shoulders, "Well all it takes it once for me to figure it out.... I just need to go down the streets often enough to remind myself where home is." He explained as he followed Alec. "That is very true.... but if they can read the map.... that will be good enough." When asked about his affiliation with the TRS he shrugged his shoulders. "I rejoined as a hunter.... I suppose before my death, I had been a hunter but I failed to remember that part of my past...." He sighed, disappointed that he hadn't remembered. "I think it is the worst of two evils but I don't know.... as you mentioned depends on the people...." He continued following after Alec. "Does that mean you aren't apart of either side?"
"A side? Mm, no, definitely not." Alec rrplied with a chuckle. "I've never understood the practice of picking sides. It's like banning yourself from ever properly interacting with an entire group of people. There could be good people within AP, but I doubt anyone in TRS considers that, right? They're all simply enemies." He pointed out, frowning at the idea. "People shouldn't be judged solely by their ideals... An ideal or goal doesn't make a person." He continued, his brows furrowed in thought. "... Ah, sorry for the ramble. " Chuckling, he shook his head. "I like to get to know every side of a person before I form judgment, so I wouldn't do well in either side." He explained, smiling back at the man. "Though, if you're a member of the TRS there has to be someone there who knows you and can help! Or, at the very least, maybe they have your address." He offered, thinking on it. Going to that place was the best course of action, after all. As long as he was headed in the right direction and not getting them even more lost.
Silas had only be curious, which was his reason for the answer. "It is possible there are people apart of AP that are good, but many of them are bad, proving that by being known..." He was talking about them being on the wanted list. If anybody was willing to harm another person just because they didn't hold the same beliefs they were bad in his book. Though Alec had a point, the people in TRS weren't all perfect either. It was ashame that one couldn't have their side peacefully. "I'd like to think TRS is the worse of two evils though.... I mean AP.... they have those things.... Terrors going around attacking citizens too...." He mumbled, being reminded that those people that killed him might also be apart of AP. "No worries, I don't blame you." He nodded his head.
"It is a good idea, just be safe too..." He answered, smiling slightly when Alec mentioned there being people in TRS that would likely be able to help. "My husband will find me easier if I meet him there, I'm sure of it." Though there was a chance he'd run into that woman again, he didn't think she'd help him out. If anything, she'd try and beat the crap out of him for seeing him again, but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
