Zoraya Friyar Wonderful things don't exist without the horrible. general info
appearance Zoraya is a young woman with dark-hair and blue eyes, and stands at a height of 5'8 inches and weighs 157 lbs. Her most notable feature are probably her eyes, as they look slit like any Asian woman would have. She also has quite a pale complexion, though not really pale that it would make people think she has anemia. Her hair has black strands and also quite a few white hairs hidden in her brown color. She would usually wear long-sleeved shirts and skirts, usually having lavender of purple hues. Most notable among how she dresses is her sleeves; she usually folds them up to her elbow because of how warm it usually would be. People would also usually notice her colored nails; contrary to the purple clothes she usually wears, her nails are always painted sky blue, and has a new hue every four weeks. Her wings are well-hidden behind her shirt. personality
Zoraya is three things all in one body: friendly, kind, yet envious. Everyone usually sees her as a kind and gentle young woman whenever she talks to others. Zory would rather have friends than enemies most of the time, but when it comes to her other personality she is sure to get people to hate her. While on the outside she is kind and friendly, on the inside she gets jealous of almost everything. Anything a person has that she doesn't, she wants to have. Sometimes she'd hurt or manipulate others just to get things her way. As a TRS agent, Zoraya is very determined with her work. She'd stop at nothing just to get a job done, going extreme measures to make something right if she feels she didn't do something correctly. Sometimes she would use other people just so she could get things her way; her friends usually fall victim to her tricks yet they don't know about it. abilities LIGHT MANIPULATION - advanced Zoraya has the ability to manipulate light under her will. With a few tweaks and movements of her thumb, light seems to follow every order that she commands them only by using simple hand gestures. She could easily flick a little light from her finger, or blind a person because of too much exposure to light. This ability cannot work in dark areas, though, as angels have a great difficulty in the darkness. ELECTRICITY MANIPULATION - intermediate While still not an expert at it, she can control electricity and make it move whenever she wants to. She cannot be electrocuted -- this will only make her powers stronger, though using too much of this ability will give her weaken her or give her headaches. When used too much, she will eventually faint because of the lost energy. BLESSINGS - intermediate Zoraya is able to bless people and give them more strength and other weaknesses that they need. Occasionally though, these blessings would only wear off after a few hours, and she would need to have physical contact with the person before blessing them. Her blessings can also be used for the protection of the person. She cannot invoke blessings on herself. HEALING - intermediate Zory is able to heal wounded people with a single touch. This could only happen if she is near the wounded, though. Sometimes healing would take some energy, especially the bigger wounds. CREATING HOLY WATER - beginner Holy water is a necessity for angels, especially in wards or spells. Zoraya taught herself to create holy water with her father ever since she was young, but only had continued learning when she grew older. Creating holy water is still something she needs to learn more about. WARDS - beginner Zoraya can create wards to keep evil creatures away from others, though is still not an expert at it and something she will have to learn more about. WING MANIFESTATION - natural Like all angels, Zoraya is able to sprout wings from behind her back, allowing herself to fly and navigate an area much more easier. It is also a clear sign that she is an angel. backstory Her life was full of ups and downs. But no, she refused to talk about that. Young Zoraya only had one important person in her life back then; a father who raised her on his own. He was a caring man, very cheerful and full of life. He was rather young to be having her; a man of 24 years of age, working as a businessman and raising a single child on his own. He didn't mention her mom. Maybe because she didn't have one. Helios Friyar was a well-known man in town, kind and caring to others and would help whenever needed. To her, he was everything she wanted. Zory wanted to follow in his steps one day; be a kind woman and help others like what her father had always done. People would usually say that her father always smiled, never complained. And it was true; his smiles brought joy and laughter to the people around him. But one day, Zory caught her father with a sad look on his face, even though he was smiling. I wonder if what they said about how father always smiled was true? ~*=*~ As she grew older, her father decided to tell her the entire truth. He said it was time she knew about her mother. Zory remembered sitting on his father's lap, who was sitting on a rocking chair that one peaceful and wintry night. Both had remained silent for a few moments, simply listening to the sounds of bells ringing and the overall silence that conquered the atmosphere. It was rather solemn, but still boring and silent; Zoraya couldn't take it anymore. She turned to her father with a curious look on her face and asked with a smile. "Papa, you said you'd tell me how you met mom. So how did you meet her?" Hearing her question, her father sighed, but Zoraya didn't know what that meant. Maybe he was confused or didn't want to reply to that question but was forced because... after all, it was her...? But he replied anyway. So she listened. "Your mother... she was everything. I loved her, she loved me back. Everything we did was for each other. Even though we were still very young when we married, we were both happy, even if the world was against it. The thing was, she wasn't human like me. She was something more than that. She was an angel. One who fell from heaven to be with me." Zory didn't know what that meant, but when he said the word 'angel' his eyes suddenly softened. It was like a very special word, and for Zory, it wasn't a joke. Father did tell her that an angel fell from heaven to be with him... was her mother a creature that lived in heaven once and fell in love with her dad? She could then remember him looking at her with a longing stare. "I wonder if you're an angel too, Zory?" In a sense, yes, she was her little angel. But Zoraya knew that wasn't what he meant. "...I dunno, daddy. Maybe...?" He chuckled and hugged her tightly after that response. "I'm sure you are." ~*=*~ An accident happened when Zoraya turned 10. A great fire suddenly struck the town Zoraya and her father had lived in for a lifetime. It destroyed homes, plants, livestock, lives... it spread around the entire town like the speed of light. Zoraya and her father had no choice; they had to leave their beloved town and move out. She was afraid of the fire. She was afraid that she'll be burned by it, that she'll die being burned to a crisp. But luckily she had her father. He protected her from the flames, after all. But instead, the fire almost took half of him. Her father got those burn marks from the accident, when he saved a crying Zoraya from their burning house. There wasn't anything she could do but sob and try to look away from her father's wound. It was her fault he got to this, that's what she always said to herself. While he'd repeatedly tell her that everything was alright, they were fine... the truth is, nothing about this was fine. Their house was burned, their town was burned. They don't even know who caused the fire. All they knew was that they had no more home. Her father was almost killed by the fire just for saving her. Half of the town's population was lost in the fire. For her, there was nothing fine with the situation they were in right now. Zoraya hoped that she could be the angel her father wanted her to be right now. The young girl hugged her father tight, sobbing in his arms while he only smiled and told her that everything was okay again. Zoraya trembled as she looked at the wound, and touched his arm. Closing her eyes, she started praying. Praying that her father would be okay. Praying that they were going to be okay. Praying that she won't be left an orphan. She prayed. But somehow, praying was making her dizzy. Then the next thing she knew, she could hear her father exclaiming and telling her that the wound had been healed and it wasn't there anymore. Zoraya opened her tired eyes and looked at his arm; her father was speaking the truth. The young girl smiled and giggled happily before finally collapsing in his arms. As he held his unconscious daughter in his arms, Helios discovered one thing. His little Zoraya was truly an angel like her mother. ~*=*~ They'd been on the road for a few years now, but they still managed to get away. Helios and Zoraya Friyar were lucky to have survived that fire along with the few more people; they walked and occasionally took rides to far away places, some of which they don't even know about. Luckily their father managed to store some money from his pockets so they could buy all the necessities they needed. But they were glad to still be together after that whole fire incident. They were lucky. The duo finally decided to settle in Lorsette, Canada. And Zoraya would be lying if she said she didn't like it there. When they first moved in to their new town, they were greeted with open arms and warm welcomes from their new neighbors. Everyone was friendly. Her father already managed to make some new friends along the way, and so did Zory. She loved the new place. Finally, they got their own home with the help of the kind people living there, and settled in. Helios decided that he would find a job so he could earn a living for both of them. He also told her that she'd be starting school by September so she could meet new friends. It was all fine now. Zoraya could finally believe that. ~*=*~ It had been very long years since they moved to Lorsette. Zoraya is now a 17-year old girl and a high-school student in Lorsette University; her father became the head librarian in the city's local library. He said that he'd be passing on his occupation to her once she grows up, with Zoraya accepting. She loved reading in the library whenever it was on weekends or after class was finished. She knew she would handle the library just fine. But that's not all, though. Zoraya met a boy. His name... she didn't want to remember anymore of that. All that matters about him was that they met, they spent some time together, they did things others would do... ...They fell in love. She was 18 when she told her father about this boy. Helios was, of course, alarmed for his daughter; he'd asked her several questions about this boy then. Of course Zoraya was very honest about his questions; she'd reply that they didn't do anything intimate yet, of all things. That was the truth, anyways. That managed to convince her father, but he was still quite wary. He left Zoraya and her boyfriend to their own devices though. But then, it was on one fateful day on October 20 that Misfortune suddenly decided to mess with her again. On one of their dates together, a sniper shot her boyfriend in the head. She didn't expect it. Neither did the other guests in the restaurant they ate on. All she could remember though, after he was shot, were the horrified screams of the costumers as they scrambled for the door to make their exit. Zoraya stared in shock at his dead body, the blood beside his head creating a pool of red. The staff pushed her away from the scene, wanting her to run off the exit while they called reinforcement. Of course she obeyed, but her mind was leaving a blank. Why did that happen? Why isn't Lady Luck always on her side? Why...? Her father greeted her from the restaurant's door with a hug and a worried look, asking her if she was alright even though it was obvious in her face that she wasn't. Zoraya already had a suspect as to who did all those crimes, though. She'd heard here in Lorsette that there was a terrorist group known as the Assembly of Phantoms frolicking about the area, causing calamity in their wake whenever they feel up for it. They burned her and her father's previous home. They killed her lover. Now Zoraya finally had a resolve. "...The Assembly of Phantoms must be stopped." ~*=*~ She'd heard of a Terror Response Syndicate around the area, whose objective was to stop -- or at least prevent -- AP soldiers from causing havoc around Lorsette. By the age of 19, when she graduated high-school, she joined the TRS and became one of the first few newbies there. This was also the same time she became the head-librarian, after her father had passed it on to her. "Like I promised, the title of head-librarian is all yours." He said with a chuckle, and she giggled with him. Of course she never told him about all this TRS stuff, she knew he'd freak out once he knew that. Being the head-librarian wasn't hard as she thought it would be, but being a TRS agent was a different story. She had to go undercover for any missions when she had to. Missions were sometimes hard, especially with all those AP soldiers still running about Lorsette, but she knew she wasn't going to stop there. She chose this, after all. It was only right for her to take on missions like this, even if it would take forever to complete. Life wasn't as simple as before. And she loved it. She was dedicated to the adventure she just got herself into. ~*=*~ Her father just adopted a new person today. Her name was Kaylie Silas. Apparently she had a very unfortunate childhood. Her father and mother were killed by unknown assailants, and somehow her father saw her unconscious on the road when he was out exploring. Helios was a kind man; he took her in and cared for her like his own daughter. Zoraya and Kaylie became fast friends after that. Kaylie was a reserved girl, and very compassionate, but also a pessimist who thinks the world is just a big ball of sadness. Zoraya can relate to her in a minimal level; she'd already passed through a lot of hard times herself, but the world always gave chances. Perhaps Kaylie didn't realize that. She also had a love for books, which was one thing she really like best. "Zory, these books are wonderful. Can I help you out someday?" "Sure. You're gonna be the assistant librarian after I formally introduce myself as the head librarian." "Yay! Thanks, bessie." "Anytime, bessie." Life started giving her a lot of blessings. And she was happier than anyone else. misc - Zoraya is also quite the pessimist like Kaylie. - Her former lover might be a character that looked like Shinichi Kudo, but I'll let you imagine. - Zoraya's favorite drink is milk. You can usually find her drinking some fresh milk while she is working. - While she is friendly and tends to have a lot of friends, for her there is no permanent best friend that she could have except Kaylie Silas, a human whom she had befriended when they were young. | roleplayer info ☆ NAME Jail Rose ☆ RP EXPERIENCE 3+ Years ☆ TIMEZONE PHILIPPINE TIME ZONE (PST) ☆ GENDER Female ☆ AGE 13-15 ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS @kaylie @meredith @garret @selina @jason ☆ FACE CLAIM DETECTIVE CONAN, Ran Mouri ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO JAIL ROSE.
