Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.

henever he was lonely, he'd usually go a long ways from home just to get to this place.
It is a place of fallen warriors, a place where the war was fought hard yet no winner was ever revealed. It was a sad place that brought quite a memory to him. Whenever he looked at the barren waste fields of this place, he would always be reminded of the things he did to people that didn't even bother touching his fleece... just to have "fun".
Yet, try as he might, he still wouldn't feel guilty about it.
This was one of Garret's favorite places to visit ever since he came to Lorsette. He also always remembered going here with his brother Polvu, train themselves whenever they had time to earn Zeredah's approval. When they got to be members of the Assembly of Phantoms, though, it wasn't themselves training anymore; spars with other skilled soldiers of the AP were fought, and they were aggressive fights that even he couldn't bear if he had to be honest.
However, those days were long gone, and now he was here, alone and standing in the middle of this waste land.
He sighed and sat on the ground, watching as the wind carried with it bits of brown dust. It was quite polluted around here, and he knew that with a species like him he should be avoiding these areas because they would be weakened by the unhealthy environment, but he remained stubborn. Watching the barren wasteland and the flying dust, as well as realizing the point of the war that was fought here, was already enough fun in itself.
Not even a person -- much less an Assembly of Phantoms member if he would ever encounter one here -- would make him stand up and get away.

Yuri and Garret thread! Hope it's not too much on you!
Yuri couldn't help but think back to when he had first moved to Lorsette, his parents took his older brother and himself to the old battle grounds, having heard stories about this place from their parents while they had grown up. Of course when his father was little, his father had taken a trip to Lorsette with his family to go see where the first war had began. It gave their children extra motive to join AP and to marry another AP member into the family so that their generation would live on. His brother took him here often, having to remind his younger brother of the importance of being apart of AP and how the family expected nothing less from him even if he was still somewhat frail at times. His brother, the one who seemed in the family as the only one who cared about his well being.
They always trained hard together to become strong and yet, he felt detached from him. He knew that he wasn't supposed to have these feelings of not enjoying his time in AP, killing anybody who opposed them, but he just couldn't bring himself to hate TRS. He didn't think AP was the right place for him, so his brother brought him here to drill it into his brain. His family would someday be proud of him, he just had to earn it. Someday, he would become known strong in the family. Little did he know, his brother would be killed and he still wasn't any closer to killing the person behind it. That damn green hair brat, how he wanted to tear him from limb to limb. He didn't believe it made him anymore AP but at least now he was trying harder to become stronger so that he could kill that boy. He had zoned out slightly, but had come to a stop because he wasn't the only person standing out here. He had almost missed him because Garret was just sitting on the ground.
He couldn't help but stare at the Garret's back, finding it somewhat annoying that he would bother just sitting anywhere he pleased. The effort in having to walk around him, it would be easier just to tell him to move it. "Are you planning on sitting there all day?"

e wished to be left alone to his own devices today. The purple-haired man stared into oblivion, watching the dust travel around the air. He didn't want to be disturbed right now. Well, it's not like there were any other people around here, so it should be fine for him for now--
He heard a voice from behind him, asking him if he was planning on sitting here all day.
Despite the somewhat impatient tone on this voice that seems to be demanding an answer, he didn't bother turning his head to face the male behind him. Garret just shrugged on his spot and continued staring at nothing. "What if I am?" He asked back, a quiet tone in his voice. "Do you have a problem with me staying here all day? It seems like you own this place even though you don't."
These statements, by no means, are for mockery or for malicious intent. They only came out of Garret's mouth as casually as possible. It just so happens that Garret's way of welcoming unsuspecting strangers was by this way of speaking. "I like sitting around on my own here. It calms my inner peace."
Finally he turned to the other man with a small smile. "How are you? My name is Garret. Nice day we have, don't we?"

Yuri and Garret thread! Hope it's not too much on you!
Yuri couldn't help but roll his eyes when Garret hadn't bothered looking back to see who had spoken to him, instead giving an answer that sounded like it was daring him to do something about it. He remained quiet, having stopped to see if Garret was going to pay attention to him or if he planned on just being rude and sitting here all day long. Before he had a chance to counter, Garret explained that he liked sitting here because it calms his peace. Yeah I suppose that could be an answer, but it doesn't change the fact that I'll have to make the effort in walking around you to continue walking. He thought to himself, surprised when Garret held a small smile on his face. "I'm fine, considering." He answered, trying to keep his cool.
He took note of Garret's name, instead of giving his name in return he just answered his question. "It seems that way, doesn't it?" He asked but wasn't really looking for an answer. Since Garret was going to remain sitting here, he would just have to walk around him after all. At this point it would be faster than possibly picking a fight with him. "If only he had moved..." He mumbled in Spanish, having no intention in giving his name out. The less people to take an interest in him, the easier it would be to stay off the radar.

H
e saw the other man simply roll his eyes, and for a moment he seemed to have hit a nerve on Garret. Rolling your eyes can be quite rude, especially when you're having a conversation and they didn't give a reply. But he didn't point this out, however. Instead, he just shrugged and turned to looking back into oblivion again. The dust was beginning to repeat its routine of flying off with the wind.
Watching it was starting to get boring.
It seems that the dark-haired man had answered his question about how he was feeling right now, but he still hasn't received a name. Garret smirked inwardly to himself. So this was how it's going to work, huh... Probably wouldn't want to tell his name because of privacy reasons. Garret shouldn't really have told his name to him, too, but everything would get a little boring if none of them knew each other's names. First step to making friends is meeting and knowing a name, after all.
As a reply to his third question, the dark-haired man asked back, and for a moment he could only chuckle at this. Totally someone who values their privacy. He simply nodded in response to this question, though. "Yes... it is indeed." He muttered, the dust flying past him. "Even though we're just in the middle of a barren wasteland where a great battle had once occurred. But the silence is most appreciable, isn't it?"
Then he heard the man mumble to himself softly, and for a moment he thought he was speaking Spanish. Garret chuckled and finally stood up from where he was, but his eyes were still into the dust. "...I often wonder why I'm so attracted to this place." He started to say, a solemn look on his face. "I just... terribly miss someone I had decided to leave in an organization that we had once joined."
He held out his hand in front of him, and suddenly a small flicker of flame ignited from his hand. Looking at that small flicker made him sigh inwardly. "...Do you have someone you terribly miss?"
Yuri wasn't sure where he was going at with this but by the way he was acting, it seemed to him that his best option would be to switch to defense just in case there was the slightest chance that Garret would be a possible risk to him. He had after all been rude to him a few moments prior, not that he needed to be polite it was just, so much easier to get in a fight and Garret, his words for some reason they made him feel uneasy as if his hunch was correct after all. Garret had stood up from the ground right after he had mumbled in Spanish. Garret was speaking but he wasn't sure why he was telling him so much information. Wasn't he aware that being private was so much safer, or maybe he didn't care about the possible risks. Organization huh? Which one? He couldn't help but think to himself.
Garret had held out his hand to create a flame in his hand, he couldn't help but take a step back to give them some distance between them. "No." He lied, choosing to keep his brother's death himself. We are standing on a battle field, how ironic that Garret wants to fight here when my brother used to take me out here. He thought to himself, withdrawing his blade knuckles he slipped them onto his hands so that he would have them if he needed to defend himself, not that it would do much against flames but he'd be damned if Garret attempted to kill him without giving a fight in return. "All this over a simple task of moving." He muttered, annoyed. He didn't regret being disrespectful to him but, there was somebody else he wanted to die at the hand of his blades and Garret wasn't him.
The TRS agent had green hair and he had been the one to kill his brother, but if Garret wanted to rumble, than he'd fight him. "I'm going to have to make this quick." He spoke in Spanish, preparing himself.

arret was simply listening in to the other young man as he answered his indirect questions with simple answers, and then the next thing he knew, he was preparing his gun and his knuckle blades all of a sudden. Garret could only blink at this. Was he thinking that Garret was here to fight? A few minutes of staring at the other man until finally, a small giggle came out from his mouth. Oh no no, he wasn't here for a fight. He just wanted to sit down and talk, is all.
But if he wants to fight, then so be it.
Garret sighed and looked at the ignited flame on his finger again, the fire starting to grow larger and larger. "Oh no, I'm not here to fight, my friend," He paused, tilting his head towards his direction and smirking at the dark-haired man. "I was only here to sit down and contemplate on my thoughts. Looks like you ruined the moment when you walked in, though."
He then looked away from him and closed his hand, the little flame finally distinguished. "What do you do for fun?" He asked, putting his hands in his coat pockets and tilting his head to the other side while staring at him. "Hmm, if you are going to ask me that question... I like ending people's lives."
Yuri couldn't help but feel slightly creeped out when Garret had started giggling. Did he think it was funny that he could use flames and the only defense he had was his blade knuckles? Garret was looking at his hand, claiming that he didn't want to fight. When he looked back at him, he felt even more uneasy while he waited for him to finish his sentence. I don't care if you want to blame me...... He braced himself for a possible attack from Garret, surprised when Garret had looked away, smothering his hand, distinguishing the flames. When asked the question, Yuri sighed in relief. The action had been on accident but he really didn't want to get burned by Garret. "Stuff." He was determined to keep his life a private one.
Garret answered his own question and he felt a shiver run down his spine. Right.... I can't let my guard down around him. He reminded himself, once more feeling uneasy when Garret had that sinister grin form on his face. "I think it depends on what the reason." He wasn't about to judge Garret for enjoying kills, however he wasn't planning on being next on his list. Yuri took a breath, trying to force himself to calm down. He had to put up with people trying to kill him all of the time, this wouldn't be any different. "I'm not afraid of you." He felt afraid, but putting on a fake mask would be an easy accomplishment.
"Time to go." He muttered in Spanish, slowly moving his hands so that it wouldn't seem like he was much of a threat, before moving towards Garret as if trying to prove his courage to him, passing by him before continuing to walk. Garret wasn't going to keep him here, he was going to keep going because that is what he wanted to do.

he only things Garret was probably going to get from this guy is a glaring contest, and to see who's going to strike first. But he didn't do anything, only lowering his hands down. Garret was getting bored of standing here; he wanted action! He wanted something that could spark this guy! He wanted another fight to take place here!
...But, since he was a respectful man, he decided it probably is best to see what the other would do first.
Waiting, the purple-haired man's grin simply dissolved back into a nonchalant smile as he stared at the dark-haired man. As the other slipped off from Garret's view after passing through him, he closed his eyes and smiled with a scoff. So he was just going to walk away like that, hmm...?
Garret chuckled softly, turning his head to the young man with a small smirk. "Are you sure you're not going to stay long?" He asked, his fingers inside his pockets slowly igniting with fire. "I'd like to get to know you, stranger."
And maybe add you to my kill-list, I suppose.

Pfff XD One more post from Yuri and Garret and then exit? Or do you still want a fight between them?
Yuri rolled his eyes when he heard Garret chuckling. He stopped walking, feeling a great need to look behind himself to see if Garret was up to something, Garret held a small smirk on his face and he found himself feeling uneasy. "Why in the world, would you want to do that?" He asked, surprised by Garret's determination to try and get him to talk, many even open up. "Is there a reason behind your motive, or do you always ask people that question? What is your reason for wanting to get to know me?" He felt surprised with himself for bothering to ask such a question. He didn't go out of his way to make friends, as for enemies they sort of just found him. Of course it was easier when you were an AP member. We are standing on a battle field, what is his motive? First I was rude to him and now he wants nothing more than to get to know me? There has got to be more to him than I am seeing here.... He thought to himself, turning around completely to face him. "Oh I know..... perhaps it is because you expected me to give a name in return, or talk as you did.... well guess what pal.... That isn't about to happen."

amn, he was smirking a lot today. First, because he was getting amused with this young man's attitude towards him right now, and secondly he could already tell his facade. Questions came out of his mouth but Garret chose not to answer them... at least not yet. Instead, he kept staring and tilting his head, that same smirk still on his face.
Then he closed his eyes and chuckled. "First of all... I have no other intention of asking you these questions than simply talking to you, which is what I'm doing right now." He answered, kicking a few small rocks towards Yuri's way. "Secondly, my motive... I don't really have one, do I? At least... not yet."
Pulling one hand away from his pockets and holding it up, with one snap of his fingers a large ring of fire suddenly formed around the sand, trapping the two of them inside. Garret chuckled once more, putting his hand back in his coat pocket again. "I have no interest in knowing your name." He stated rather grimly, sitting down on the sand and closing his eyes with a hum. "But you remind me of someone, though."
With a shrug, he threw a questioning look at the dark-haired man. "...I expected to meet either an Assembly of Phantoms member here. Can I assume you are one?"
Yuri had asked him a question but couldn't help but roll his eyes. Why would he want to talk to me? Doesn't he have anything better to do than trying to get to know me? He found himself watching Garret when he had pulled his hand out of his pocket before snapping his fingers, surprised when the ring of fire appeared, surrounding them. "Is that so.... Well you seemed somewhat interested in it prior, besides one doesn't normally go out of their way to chat with the first person who walks by without expecting a name in return...." He sighed when Garret claimed that he reminded him of somebody else. The question startled him but he shrugged his shoulders.
"If you were expecting to meet somebody, surely you'd know if they were one or not... whether or not I am one or not is a whole different question..." He didn't go out of his way, broadcasting that he was an AP member. Of course it would be easy to figure it out if he was near a Terror because they never attacked him or any other AP member for that matter. "Tell you what, how about you ask your AP friend if I am or not..." Seeing as they were alone, he figured Garret would have to wait around for his friend to show up before being able to ask such a question. It would also give him a head start in getting away, as soon as he figured out a way to avoid getting burned. Not that being burned would be much of a problem, he just wasn't in the mood for going through a healing process.

he young man in front of him speaks again, making him chuckle. "Haha, I guess so. But I quickly lost interest right away, since I figured you wouldn't answer me anyway." He stated, the fire crackling from behind him and growing larger by the minute. However, they weren't going anywhere with this conversation.
Then came the topic about the Assembly of Phantoms. Either this guy thought that he was simply interested, but there was a reason why he had asked him this question. Garret grinned at the young man's statement about asking his AP "friend" if he was indeed an AP member. "Haha, thank you for the piece of advice. I'll be sure to remember that." He stated with a small chuckle. "But sadly, no. He's not just a friend of mine, kind sir." He confirmed with a small smile.
"I was expecting my brother."
~*=*~
The smoke was getting thicker each time he walked. From the distance he could see a large mass of fire glowing ablaze, though miraculously, as large as it is, it doesn't seem to hit the leaves of trees or burn down the surrounding trees. He wondered what could've caused this large smoke and fire, but if it was him then he wouldn't be surprised at all.
What's he doing there, though, if ever he was there?
Sources tell him that a fellow AP member was situated in those barren wastelands, and he was asked to get him. Yuri Torres or whatever seemed to be new to the Assembly, or maybe he was a pretty old member but he didn't manage to meet or get to talk with him. Nevertheless, he seems important so he has to hurry.
Coughing slightly and covering his nose with his hand, he quickened up his pace.
Ugh. Missions like this are sometimes frustrating.
Yuri rolled his eyes, if Garret had lost interest why was he stuck still being here? The thought of passing through the flames and getting burned had crossed his mind, but that was a lot of burns for him to try and pass through. Brother? He thought to himself, shacking his head slightly. Garret was wasting his time, it seemed to be the point though. He closed his hands into fists, preparing to use his blade knuckles as defense if it came to it. With a breath he stared at Garret. "Then you can wait for him alone..." If it wasn't clearly already, he wasn't going to stick around longer than necessary. "Lower the flames right now." He really badly didn't want to get burned by rushing through them, besides if Garret chose to follow, he would run the risk of getting extra burns. As the flames become bigger, he coughed into his sleeve. I have two choices... I can stay here and be burned to death, or I can rush through the flames and be burned that way. Of course there was a third option, attack the one who started the fire in the first place.
your walls, hijack your brain, run through your veins.
G
arret heard the young man tell him to wait for his brother alone, then demanded to lower the flames right now. Except... no, he couldn't do that. Firstly, it was this guy's fault why he was still here; secondly, he still has things to settle with him for disturbing him and his train of thought.
He only chuckles in response to the young man's request. "Huh... how about... no." He says in a low voice, sitting down on the sand, drawing random doodles while he spoke. "Besides... it wouldn't be much fun if I were to hurry, and like I said... I want to know more about you."
A blaze of fire slowly starts to appear on the palm of the faekin's hand. Should the other man attempt to take a blow at him, he'd fire at him with great ease if that's what he wanted.
From behind them, the ring of fire slowly lowers down, though it's not visible, since the flames have been lowering slowly.
Should anyone want to enjoy the show.
~*=*~
Dangit, where the fuck did that guy even wind up to?!
Polvu cursed in his mind as he ran faster and loaded his gun with bullets, ready to shoot at anyone who dares to attack him at this time of day. How very fortunate of him to be chosen for this mission! Plus it's all about saving this guy he doesn't even know! What's wrong with the Assembly these days?!
Finally arriving at the spot where his brother was situated at, the soldier stopped, noticing the flames lowering very slowly that no one would notice. It stopped only a few meters, though, but this was enough for him to see who was behind the ring of fire.
In front of the fire was a young man with dark hair, turning his back at him. Parallel to this guy -- whom he figured out must be Yuri -- was his...
...Brother.
Polvu almost couldn't say anything, instead shivered on his spot while staring at the scene before him. Garret was simply grinning while sitting on the sand. He knew it, Garret was always this creepy.
He couldn't do anything as of now, though.
