Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff
season
Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Everything seemed to be okay as far as she could tell, something that made the young wolf girl relax slightly. Howver she tenses a little when she hears someone call out, her silver eyes widening as she turns to look in his direction. Her silver eyes dart from his mask to his hands, her mind grasping onto the fact that he had food, and she turns n her heels and lightly bounds towards him, moving quickly and lightly on her feet. Stopping in front of the stash of food, she looked from it and then back up at him, her facial features still painted with a fragile smile, and she tilted her head slightly.
"Is it really okay for me to have this?" She reached for the food, the young girl picking it up gingerly. Glancing at him again, Holly would choose a sandwich once she was certain she really could have it. Taking a small bite, she would look back up at him with bright eyes. Holly had become quite lonely and hungry while out on her own, but this person did not seem to be as dangerous as some of those she had been hiding from. "Thank you, sir."
Once she had finished the last of her chosen sandwich, she looks down at her feet before back up again, remembering her manners. "My name is Holly. I think I'm lost..." Scratch that. Holly knew she was definitely lost, but was a little too ashamed of that to say so. She knew she really should have tried to take someone with her, but she had really missed her parents too much. Thinking about her parents was making her sad again, and her eyes were starting to water and fill with tears.
Holly was determined to find some trace of something, and so she continued to press on and search, depite being dirty, hungry, and utterly exhausted. She had already become lost anyhow, so there was no way to find her way back. She had spent last night curled up under her cape, it was still not the best way to sleep, but it was surely better than having nothing. She had spotted some strangers here and there as she wandered, some of which had tried to approach her. When she did not recognize them she had always managed to slip way, not really ready to find out if they would try to take her home or otherwise interrupt her search. It has been a little while since she had spotted one though, and she was worse for wear. She had a few scratches on her arms, and she was looking dirty and grungy, as well as a little more tired every day. Right now she was waiting in a thin alleyway, waiting for a few people to pass. She found it very easy to hide, being so small in a world of things large and imposing. She does find herself missing her friends, but not as much as she misses her family.
She had no siblings to care for or comfort her, all she ever had were her parents. They had always been very supportive of her dreams and different wishes, and she had been raised with love and extreme care. To her it had been perfect, a family anyone could be happy with, one that nurtured her kindness and curiousity, making her friendly and cheerful, instead of a reserved or unhappy child. Maybe a lot of that is what lead her to this path she was on, always optimistic and willing to do the things she believed in. It was in her blood, the fiber that makes her who she is. It makes her unable to leave her own wonderings alone, because she is strong in her convictions, even without that family network to fall back on.
Everyone had their own paths in life, some were not really meant to stay with you forever, a painful truth of life that holly did not yet understand. Some only enter your life to test your strength, some enter it to become your very best friend, people come and go for any reason, good or bad, and you could never know just by a first glance. Holly peeks out and around the corner of the alley, once the voices she had heard were no longer able to be heard. There was nobody in sight, something that made her both relieved and lonely, as she really was a social girl, just not one that knows who was safe at the moment. She no longer had a shoulder to cry on, or someone to pick her up if she fell. She needed to find some kind of clue, no matter whether she can handle every step or not.
She finally slinks out of the alleyway, her steps slower and more careful. A small ghost of a smile is painted on her lips, her posture tired but still clearly determined. Her tangled black hair falls around her pale face, her silver eyes glittering in any light that falls on them. She never judged anyone unless they had done her wrong, a trait that may get her into trouble if left alone. For now though she is doing fine, avoiding everyone she sees. So many days and she has no clues to show for it, something that has frustrated her. There had to be something somewhere, or all her searching was for nothing.
Holly is a girl of average height and weight for her gender and age bracket, with a slightly pale complexion. She is a little slender, perhaps, but that just lends further into her cute and innocent looking appeal. She has shoulder length black hair, though at the ends it naturally ombres out into a rose red like hue, bright and eye-catching. Her eyes are wide, childish and expressive, any emotions she feels are clearly presented in their bright silver depths. Holly's signature colors are rose red and black, with a thing for skirts and capes.
Shift: Advanced. Holly is quick at accessing her animal form, that of a red wolf. During her shifting period, as all shifters are, she is vulnerable to attacks. Her wolf form has dusky red fur and her signature silver eyes, though it is small, likely because she herself is not yet an adult.
Minor Regenerative Healing Factor: Intermediate. Holly heals rather quickly, though if she really gets hurt, it can take quite a chunk out of her playtime.
backstory
Holly's parents had been dating for five years when they had her. She was raised around the TRS, and had often been told stories of saving people from bad people and monsters. Holly was a cherished child, always read a story at night to help her sleep, and she was also quite bright, friendly and excelled in school.
When she turned eight, her mother vanished. Life slowly started spiralling downwards from there, her father developed a habit of working and alcoholism, and even as he pampered Holly, she could always see the sadness in his eyes. For several months this stretched on, until he never came home.
Holly never heard that both of her parents had been killed in action, and after her father never returned home, she set out for answers. When a TRS agent had come to the house, Holly was nowhere to be found, and they sent out a notice to look for her. Nobody wanted the tragedy to strike the young girl as well.
