Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
As the youthful wolf bounced along her way within TRS HQ, a noise caused her to turn her head. She stopped dead, her silver eyes meeting forest green ones. ”You look familiar. C’mere a moment.” Tilting her head, curious of who he could possibly be, the wolf shifter stepped closer, peering in at the scruffy looking small bakeneko. The green eyes studying her narrowed, eventually a sneer forming over his mouth as he scoffed. ”I know who you are.”
Freezing at the sudden malice in his tone, Holly almost regretted her question as it left her lips. ”You...know me..?” The scruffy cat leaned his back against the wall, his face sinking into his raggedy scarf though it did nothing to hide the sinister smirk twisting up a face that had been blank moments before. ”Yup. You’re the Dandelion bitch. The one that got away. You should have died with your parents and done us all a favor.” Recoiling, Holly’s shock was apparent.
Her teeth grit together, her form frozen as she reeled from the intake of information. The cat lifted a hand, inspecting his fingernails almost damningly casually as he continued to speak. ”Looks like all you dumb dogs are the same. Loyal to these so-called “heroes” until they just let you die, huh? That’s all dogs are really good for, sending them to attack your enemies until they become useless and you put ‘em down.” Holly shook as she took a few steps back, her once innocent curiosity a mix of anger and sadness.
Not only was he attacking her family, who she had searched high and low for, he was insulting her, and everyone she looked up to. Everyone she had met here at the TRS, there was just no way that they were the bad ones. Her teeth started to cut down into her lip, choking back a sob as her eyes burned.
The horror had the young wolf in a vice-grip, never truly feeling utter revulsion for another person before this moment. The cat casually glanced over at her, before flicking his fingers in a snap, letting his hand drop back down. ”Oh shoot. You don’t have a pack to cry to, do you? Tsk tsk. Might wanna go before they put you in the kennel.”
Trembling, Holly turned and ran before he could get the satisfaction of seeing her cry. Not only had she had everything she cared about torn down without a second care, he had just completely and utterly dismissed her as if she were irrelevant and unimportant. She found herself running without direction, tears burning tracks down her face. She didn’t care where she ended up, just that she wanted to be away from here.
The strap of the buckle holding her securely to the seat, it was enough to further settle the little wolf’s nerves. The motion and steadiness of the vehicle caused her eyelids to lower, sleepiness creeping in. Her cheek presses against the window as she drifts, the glass pane slightly chilled against her skin. The low rumbles and warbles of the radio are the background to her slumber, though no words stick out enough to permeate her dream. In her dream she was but in her fluffy pup form, in a field of brightly blooming flowers. The scents were sweet and gentle, and warm sunlight coated everything in a gentle glow. It made her fur cozy and soft, almost as if it were a safe haven of sorts.
Her ears pricked as the dream continued, familiar voices dangled by a breeze. The dreaming girl rose to her paws, head craning towards the distance where she heard the voice of her mother singing a lullaby. Slowly the young wolf shifter moved towards that familiar melody, the travel through the flowers almost like moving through water. The closer she got, the more the fur along her spine began to tingle and stand on end.
The flowers gave way to a clearing up ahead, the sunlight becoming almost blindingly bright. The young wolf’s eyes desperately tried to adjust, but she wasn’t meant to see what lay in that meadow clearing. As touch was felt on her physical body, Holly naturally began to awaken. The voice pulled her fully from the sunlit meadow, as her eyes slowly opened. A sleepy wordless murmur escapes her lips, as a hand rises to rub against one of her partially lidded eyes. ”Where are we?”
The sleepy youth would follow any directions given, a tired nod given to the answer to her mumbled question. She was not a difficult child to begin with, and barely being awake was making her even more so willing to follow without too much questioning. She knew that she was no longer in danger, so being alert was no longer a necessity. Already the dream was slipping from her memory, though she could almost feel the warm sunlight filtering through her fur still. Everything was going to be okay, if that was any signal.
The thing lingering in the young wolf girl’s mind was none other than how horrible this introduction had gone, surely her first impression ruined by none other than clumsy excitement. Maybe it was true what she had heard somewhere, that if you tried too hard you would surely fall flat! While it was true that Holly had wanted to make a really good first impression, it seems that as usual she had tripped up over her own feet. Would this always happen? Was she never to look cool in front of someone she wanted to impress? What had she done to deserve that? Oh well, she would just have to wing it as usual.
Maybe if she just acted true to herself, she could manage to salvage something of this first meeting! What she hadn’t expected, was the response she received. Was that .... possible a good sign? ”Yup! Just dying of embarrassment.” She perked up visibly as he spoke, relief appearing over her face. ”Really?! I was so sure I’d be late...”
She listened, an excited gleam appearing in her silver eyes. ”I’m Holly Dandelion! Oh, but you ... already know that...” Her voice trailed off, sure that her response had come off as awkward blabbering. ”I’m listen really good so I can!” He was probably going to teach her how to be super amazing, she’d probably have the best skills if she put her all into it. Questions, huh? ”You don’t think I’m too young, do you?”
There was a quiet tone to her former countenance brimming with energy, her enthusiasm toned down very visibly. This was something she knew she wanted with every fibre in her being, to be like the stories her parents had told her. To be someone that could truly help others, and make a difference, no matter how small the impact. Making the world a better place, it was all that she really wanted.
Now that she was with someone she felt safe with, Holly wouldn’t ever wish to leave his side. Despite the current tiredness seeping through her body, she would hold onto the chance she was given with every ounce of strength she held. Here was someone willing to help her, willing to take care of her when she had nobody left. It wouldn’t be quite the same, though she would hold onto it with everything she had. It was dark and scary out here on her own, more than she had originally given thought.
Forethought was often not a skill the young wolf portrayed, or that many children portrayed at all. She often grasped onto a thought or idea, and just ran wherever it took her. Blinking those dark silver eyes just so slightly, she tightly grasps his hand. It was by no means a painful grip, just one that showed her weariness. It was safer, at least in her mind. ”Okay..”
Sleep in the car, it sounded safe. Much safer than under a porch or behind cold metal trashcans. She nodded slowly as he spoke again, though in no rush to eat more. She wasn’t as hungry right now, but might be after sleeping. Her steps are small as she follows, quietly at his side. Her silvery eyes glance back once or twice as they walk, though there was nothing left behind. Neither had she found any clues, though that was to be expected.
With the tension that had been present releasing, it was only a matter of time before she would crash. There was no reason to stay alert any longer, nobody to run away or hide from. She was settling down from fear, recovering from the reaching fingers of loneliness. Now there was just a quiet trust, an acceptance she had been found. It was a good thing, that’s what she thinks. Time was marching on, for better or for worse.
