Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Nolan intuitively sensed that she wasn't all right... and had, in a way, hoped she'd open up to him in sharing what may have been particularly hurting. He was sure that after falling the way that she did, something may have happened with her leg or one of her ankles... and while he had also hoped that she wouldn't be in pain, it was obvious in her demeanor and the look in her eyes that something had genuinely hurt.
As she pulled her arms closer towards herself, it was then when tension shown in her face, one that Nolan recognized as pain... and he realized that it may have been more than just her legs, but also her arms too.
However, she once more assured him that she was all right. Her once soft voice had turned panic whilst she tried to prove that she was fine, demonstrating a bending-down action to pick up one of the pieces of wood. In the process, her face shown in greater pain and immediately she dropped the wood, gasping in pain. Nolan's instinctive reaction was to step forward and break the distance between them, reaching to catch her in case if she fell but paused before his extended palms touched her when the petite blonde had prevented herself from taking a downfall along with the cluttering piece of wood.
The boy's smile drew in with concern, brown eyes gazing upon the girl and feeling even more worried for her than before. "Hey, it's okay... things like this happen to every one. But... I have to be honest with you, and I hope I'm not crossing a line here--" He spoke soothingly and calmly, hoping that such a tone would help the girl feel less embarrassed, nervous, or somehow help the already difficult situation for her, "-- But you really look like you're in pain, especially just now after that piece of wood gave you a hard time again." His smile warmed, hands relaxing by his sides. "Mind if I lend you a hand with getting all of this to your room? Think of it as receiving help from your new neighbor," He offered, having in mind an easy way to get all of this troublesome wood out of the way... he had a plan in mind, and had his fingers crossed that she'd at least allow him to help her. [break][break]
She seemed like someone who tried doing things by herself which was an admirable quality, but there were some things that someone couldn't do alone and the idea of her going back to lugging all of that wood around in a box while probably being bruised or sprained pained him. "I don't want to see you getting any more hurt," Nolan added sympathetically, and honestly as his hands found themselves in the front pockets of his jeans. Truthfully, he wanted to ask her more about her physical well-being after what happened, but he didn't want to push her.
[attr="class","box"]tag: @shairyuu notes: Ahhh I'm so sorry about taking forever T__T;;; My muse was kind of low for awhile, along with offline responsibilities taking over. -huggles-
Lunch time arrived and Nolan's stomach was near empty, and in dire need of some food. He skipped breakfast... but in all honesty, that was partly because he slept in kind of late. He tried getting up earlier to reverse the late night-owl routine he was starting to get himself stuck in but today he had only a little luck with it. He slept past the alarm he set and only woke up when he did because of the loud barking of a dog outside his apartment window... probably some person walking their dog downtown. [break][break]
He bathed, got dressed, and researched some good legitimate Hexing books that he could look into while out. Nolan would have benefited from a teacher but his own insecurities and fears of being found out as a Fallen prevented him from pursuing that. So, instead, he was left to self-teaching and whatever advice or assistance either of his roommates could offer him. After hitting road bump after road bump practicing on his own, seeing only flashes and glimpse of visions regarding the precise whereabouts of his brother, Nolan wanted to be proactive. There was only so much patience he had left in him after the years a part.[break][break]
He started looking for a genuine Hexing manual from a real magic shop, and found a place that looked like it could have what he needed, albeit the street's location looked a little shady. But, hey, it wasn't like he hadn't been through his fair share of daring encounters. Nolan learned quite a lot of street smarts, ways to survive, and how to deal with trouble if it went coming after him. He wasn't worried about anything. Thus, the teen briskly brushed back his hair with his hands to style it in the casual way he liked, and slipped on his shoes before heading out the door by the early afternoon.[break][break]
Nolan couldn't ignore the gurgling emptiness of his stomach however and decided to first grab a quick meal at the cafe. Pushing through the door, he found himself in a rather cute and quaint looking place with wooden tables... and a lot of people. Nolan's eyes somewhat blinked wide in surprise when seeing that nearly every seat was already taken by someone else. "Damn..." He murmured to himself, stepping inside and glancing around. A sigh left him. "Guess this is what I get for coming in here during lunch hour..." He hadn't ate here enough to figure out what the busiest hours of the day were but he could easily tell that clearly, this was one of them. [break][break]
Nolan decidedly waited off towards the side of the entrance, watching for a seat to open or for a waiter to assist him. A few minutes passed before a waiter came strolling by with a handful of menus and offered to help him a find a table, one luckily opening up. He sat at a table right next to one where an older looking man with a beard and a girl with long brown hair were sitting at, and smiled brightly at the waitress. "--Oh, thanks, but I already know what I'm going to order," He responded to her, "I'll have a traditional cheeseburger, cooked medium-rare with no Mayo. A chocolate shake... aaaand... let's go with some curly fries-- extra crispy!" [break][break]
"You've got quite the apatite," The waiter laughed and Nolan's smile remained with a shrug. "Haha well, with teenaged boys, we could probably eat a whole horse and still be hungry," He joked with her and the waiter laughed more, nodding as she told him, "You just described my son. Your food will be comin' up soon, hun," "Thank you," With that, she was off to help the table next to him, and Nolan leaned back in his chair slightly as he tried to get comfortable.

notes: Thank you for waiting!! Nolan's read to jump in <3 outfit:here
With anticipation and exhilaration, Nolan came to sliding halt on his feet, watching as William attempted his soaring jump back and away from the summoned portal he'd been running toward.... and the sight caused his heart to race. There was not enough time for him to intervene nor fully articulate his own thoughts while watching the other male take his leap of faith. His gamble with life.... and Nolan didn't know what on earth he'd be able to do had the individual fallen into the trap he'd set up through the whirling pool of radiating light magic. It's energy was very bright and strong, intending to both trap and rid of the terror that was practically gaining on the boy's heels while he ran.[break][break]
Everything flashed by in a matter of seconds. William successfully launched himself in a sudden change of course, avoiding the whizzing pool of light, and had done so fast enough to where the terror hadn't predicted his movement. Nor did the creature seem to realize what had resided up ahead, blinded in its nonsensical rage of devouring the boy's essence. Blazing but a second after William leaped backwards, the terror came crashing right through the perimeter of the portal.[break][break]
Immediately the light flashed brightly, consuming the terror in a blindingly bright radiation as it squealed out in an ethereal pain. What appeared once the blinding rays diminished into its previous glow was the magic-infused cage surrounding the terror. The creature shrieked in fury but was unable to break itself free... before the cage itself begun closing into the monster. A loud zapping sound echoed as the light infused through the terror and blinked out of existence, leaving nothing but a visible burn mark where the trap had once resided.[break][break]
Shock vividly transpired upon Nolan's expression.... amazed by how everything played out.... before he gave a triumphant punch to the air. "YES!! THAT WAS GREAT!" He shouted out in a cheer, unable to hide his excitement. It was just like his days at training camp, and those crazy adventures he went on while sneaking out of camp territory late into the night hours. The adrenaline, danger, and then afterward thrill of overcoming whatever obstacle had come his way. "WE DID IT!" He laughed out in another cheering manner, before William had suddenly dropped to the ground. This caught Nolan by complete surprise, wiping away from the big smile from his face as he started running over. "William!" When he came up to his body, the boy fell onto his knees as he gave him a slight shake to try and stir him, "Hey, hey, look up at me... are you okay?"

As the girl explained what provoked that kind of reaction from the white-haired individual he'd assisted earlier with buying some of his items at the check-out line, Nolan listened. It sounded.... confusing and strange how Quentin had supposedly been part of the TRS before but didn't remember it. That very comment rose his eyebrows in an apprehensive manner, but he didn't say anything to interrupt. Joining the TRS was one of his biggest dreams as a kid, and he had been on the right track for it until... tragedy struck his life. He couldn't fathom someone earning their way into the ranks of the TRS and then just.... not remembering any of it and dropping out.
An interested but visibly uncertain hum left the teen. "Right. I don't know, that's pretty crazy..." He answered as he looked off in the direction Quentin had ran off. The guy acted like he was bolting for his life... it was all suspicious to him the more he thought about it and absorbed not only what the girl was telling him, but just the whole situation itself. None of it was normal or made any sense. Someone could have been lying.... maybe it was the girl or maybe Quentin had something to hide. No one should run from the TRS unless if they were doing some form of criminal activity, in his opinion. The TRS were supposed to protect others after all. Unless if this lady was a fraud.
"Thank you for explaining all that. I don't know him, just met him a few minutes ago at the market and then we were chatting a bit out here," Nolan went on to explain his own encounter with her. He didn't want for her to have the assumption that they were closely affiliated. He couldn't be of any help to her nor was he sure if he wanted to get directly involved in someone else's business.... he had his own problems to worry about. Basil.... Basil was more important to him than putting his neck out there for people he didn't even know.
"Well.... good luck with all of that. Sorry I can't be of more help," Nolan begun walking onward, providing a big and usual friendly smile he was known for. With a wave he called out to her without stopping, "Have a good evening!" 'Jeez its time to head home.... the odd-balls are starting to come out already and its not even dark yet,' He thought to himself as he ventured forward to head back to the complex. Nolan had no idea where Quentin went and he was probably long gone by now... but the situation still lingered on his mind. He didn't know what to think about any of it but... it wasn't anything that involved him.... and he didn't know if he'd even see him again.
[attr="class","box"]tag: Quentin Daniels notes: Sorry Foxxy, turns out that Nolan didn't follow him again :"c We could probably end the thread here! But its not over between these two they will meet again xD MARK MY WORDS NOLAN
The girl that'd taken quite the fall in the hallway turned bright red upon being met with Nolan. When seeing the color of her face, matched with the mess of wood planks and the visible struggle of having carried heavy cargo, made him feel worse for her... he felt really bad for the poor girl. He wasn't the type who felt embarrassment easily but he could still feel empathy towards her and have an unspoken understanding of how she was hurt, but also possibly feeling caught in head-lights with having some guy pop out of his apartment to check out what the noise was.
Nolan didn't want her to feel self-conscious, and tried his best not to say or do anything that would provoke stronger emotions of that caliber. When she spoke up, she stammered out that she was fine, and a momentary relief shown within the friendliness of his gaze.... though in all honesty he wasn't completely convinced that she was okay. He wondered if part of her response was part of her trying to compose herself after taking a fall and trying to seem fine when she wasn't. Such thoughts solidified more when catching the way her hopeful expression diminish at the mess of wood that'd scattered the flooring.
Upon her raising onto her feet, he let go of her hand after using the weight of his arm to give her a boost up. The girl hesitated while turning away from him, his gaze becoming curious, before she once more faced him with an anxious smile upon her face while admitting she'd tripped. "Yikes, that must have been painful," Nolan sympathetically responded, "I'm glad you didn't get injured. It would have been terrible to find you here by yourself with a pile of wood holding you down," The teen always tried the best in every situation while not ignoring the reality of what was bad. Sure, it was a good thing she didn't actually get weighed down with a more so serious collision of heavy wooden bed frame on her, but it still must have hurt.
As the petite blonde made her promises and fretful reassurances, Nolan's smile grew and he gave a casual and easygoing wave of his hand. "It's okay, don't worry about it. You weren't bothering anyone. Besides, I'm a lot more concerned about how you're feeling and being responsible for carrying so much on your own than anything else," His eyes caught sight of where she was holding herself, causing his eyebrows to lower with a worried smile upon his face, "Are you sure you're okay...? Does anything hurt? You look like you don't feel good..." An itch to help her collect everything that'd fallen was definitely on the brink for him but he first wanted to really make sure that she was actually okay before anything else.
Quentin was tongue-tied from Nolan's previous teasing, but Nolan was oblivious to it. His gaze was distracted by scanning the streets and the other young man's already seemingly reserved nature made it harder for Nolan to tell when or if he'd become shy over something he had commented. Nonetheless, by the time Nolan had returned his gaze over in his direction, he was answering his question about whether or not he took the bus.
"You walk? So... that must mean you live pretty close, then," He assumed with a remaining friendly smile. He couldn't imagine someone walking all the way over from the market to a residency that wasn't nearby. That'd be quite the journey. Even he himself whom was very active with routine running and jogging throughout different paths of the city would have found that to be way too daunting. The guy went on to state that he'd be all right and before Nolan could speak up, a voicing belonging to a girl suddenly emerged.
At about the same time Quentin glanced upon her, Nolan did the same with a vague but mellow wonderment in his expression. It wasn't like they were out in the middle of nowhere so he wasn't necessarily surprised to hear someone else speak up, even if it was quiet outside. What did make him a little more surprised was seeing the TRS unfirom she was wearing.
Quentin's running off after claiming she didn't know him was all the more shocking and caught Nolan off-guard, eyebrows raising as he watched the guy start bolting away like he was trying to avoid confrontation. "Ah, hey...!" He begun to call out in surprise but he was practically gone. "What was that about?" He turned to look at the medic, one eyebrow lowering while the other apprehensively studied her, "Why did he run away from you like that?"
[attr="class","box"]tag: Quentin Daniels notes: Spook him? : o DUN DUN DUN!?
The statue stood up tall right where it was before, a couple of the nearby employees seeming flambergasted by what happened. Nolan, himself, confidently smiled and felt a wave of pride for his work... if not even some amusement from the reactions from the two unassuming men. When the statue was stable and up-right, he immediately ceased the glow, removing its supportive light once it'd already achieved its purpose.[break][break]
Gideon asked him if it was him who'd done the not-so-subtle magic lifting, arising Nolan's attention back over to him. His question was reciprocated with a chuckle of his own and he offered him a small shrug of his shoulders. "ah, well, not always but usually," He answered in a playful tone, before raising the comic, "I should go pay for this. It was nice meeting you, maybe we'll see each other again sometime. I could use some new friends around here. It's a big city, you know?" [break][break]
Cities, of course, didn't intimidate him. Nolan was from a small town and therefor when he first started seeing more of what the world looked outside the quaint town he grew up in, it was a little overwhelming. However, at the same time, it was exhilarating. He craved adventure and by stepping outside his comfort zone as a kid, he realized what he'd been missing. That being said, while he wasn't intimidated, he was a social person and he definitely wanted to get out and establish new connections.

Quentin vocalized that he doubted running into trouble and added, shortly thereafter, that he believed this would particularly be the case if Nolan stayed with him. It drew a bit of a wondering, amused smirk upon the previous smile Nolan adorned. "Ahhh, is that an invite for me to chauffeur you around? A lonely gentleman in need of a body guard this evening?" He asked in a playful, and clearly teasing mannerism. That pretty much confirmed what he was already thinking, that this guy was likely trying to keep him around out of feeling indebted to him. He didn't think that it could be anything else... at least, such ideas didn't come to mind yet.
He chuckled a little afterwards, looking off towards the streets and glancing over them as though watching whatever sign of activity was surfacing in the public space. Him running into trouble... wasn't a concern of his. He'd been through a great deal and knew how to defend himself. He also wasn't as seemingly harmless as Quentin may have assumed... they were only newly-met faces, after all, only having this very encounter and a face to peg onto one another. "I don't know, man. I'm really sorry but I should probably get going. The friends back home are waiting on me for a game night," He answered, lightly chewing on his lip before looking back over at Quentin, "Do you ride the bus? I can walk you over to the bus stop on the way back if that makes you feel safer,"
Before his senses could entirely be numbed away and closed off from himself, Nolan was pushed away from the Fae, stumbling backwards and having only been cushioned by the backdrop of a closed-shop's wall exterior. He flinched, a pounding occurring within his head from the sudden change in aura around him... a hand rose to hold his head where it'd pounded, eyes wincing in confusion. He heard William's voice call out, telling him to run... but it only a few moments later when the reality of everything had set in and Nolan was snapped out of his daze.[break][break]
The pounding, too, stopped in his head and Nolan blinked his eyes a couple times. "Wh-what the hell... happened..." He groaned to himself, rubbing his head a little more, before seeing in the distance William running for his life... and the terror racing after him. His dreary eyes widened in a returning alertness. No longer was he phased out from the world and now, everything was once more clear to him. The fair-haired boy was once more in danger and had tried to steer the terror away from Nolan by making himself the open target.[break][break]
"Crap..." Nolan grit his teeth and bolted into a run. 'There's no way I'm going to leave him on his own to try out-running that maniac,' He thought in determination. Keeping up on his exercise regime paid off and allowed him the endurance and stamina necessary to not burn out from the onslaught of action. Deep down, Nolan knew of a simpler way to get the both of them out of harm's way... he could use his swings to sweep up William and fly them over to the TRS headquarters.... but he knew that it was too much of a risk. He couldn't afford for anyone to see the obsidian feathers of his wings, not even William.[break][break]
A portal of light summoned on the ground in front of him and upon Nolan dashing through, his hand reached down and grabbed a curved blade-shaped beam that he sent hurling at the Terror. It spun through the air and sliced over the top of the creature, sending a spitting whiz of shadow aura from the creature as it shrieked. Another portal appeared whilst Nolan ran, grabbing yet another throwing knife and sending it at the creature. Think, think....! Nolan fought through his mind to come up with something to take care of their problem.... before, an idea finally hit him. "William!" Nolan shouted, summoning a large whirling portal of light far up ahead, "Get the terror to run through that!" The portal would turn into a cage the moment a victim went through it.

The white haired guy seemed to be lost in thought and this even more so seemed to be the case when he'd asked what he meant by asking why he'd wondered about whether if he was busy or not. Nolan gave an amused smile. This guy was a bit odd... harmless, but odd. Quentin gathered his thoughts and answered, however, without him needing to explain the context of his words to him. The guy was intending on heading home to get his wallet so that he'd have enough to buy the rest of what he needed.
"Oh, okay, gotcha," Nolan promptly nodded, smile remaining. He shoved both of his hands into his sweatshirt pocket, the handles of the plastic bag lightly swinging along his forearm. "I probably shouldn't keep you for long then, right?" He went along to amuse aloud and a soft sigh left him, a puff of cool air leaving his lungs whilst glancing about the streets, "Be careful on your way home, okay? It won't be long before the creeps start getting out, and a nice looking guy such as yourself would catch their eye," He'd been around the city scene enough to know that men and woman were both targets for any unfortunate crimes. It wasn't late yet but it was still pretty quiet around here, and Quentin did stand out.
[attr="class","box"]tag: Quentin Daniels notes: Ahh, thank you! Quentin is so thoughtful, wanting to pay him back~
At the center of his room, Nolan had drawn upon his sixth attempt of a vision-seeing Hexing circle. Caramel brown hair had messily befallen his face from his adamant but rather mentally draining practices... determined to finally perfect one enough to where he could distinctively see his younger brother Basil. Before moving to Lorsette he'd managed to succeed one time in creating a sight-seeing Hexing circle to be able to distinguish a sign in the background of the vision....one that with research, he and his friends were able to discover was of a city called Lorsette. Ever since then, however, Nolan found himself hitting road block upon road block in strengthening his Hexing skills enough to see more clearly... to see the precise features of his brother, or control his visions well-enough to force a clear indicator of where exactly he was at now to transpire.
A dark glow of shadow magic begun spiraling throughout the border of his blood-drawn symbolism on the wooden flooring the apartment, his eyes squeezing shut as he tried his hardest to manifest what he desired. He focused all his thoughts on Basil and to the best of his abilities, harvesting enough energy to convince the Hexing ritual to show him something that he could actually get somewhere with. Even if it was just a foggy vision of an obscure building with his brother nearby-- even a freaking tree with something distinct about it, he was willing to take. The shadow magic begun spiraling faster and faster along the drawn symbols.... Nolan's head bowing, fingers tightly clutching his knees as he focused....
The familiar whizzing sound of the shadows unveiling a transparent cloud floating above the circle caught his attention and Nolan immediately lifted his head with eyes opening. He stared intently at the cloud as the magic begun to slowly manifest something.... but yet again, nothing of substance appeared within it's portal. An unsteady, flickering flash of multiple visions happened so fast that he couldn't even decipher them had took form before the fog faded. "God dammit..." Nolan snapped in frustration, hands irritably clawing through his hair. Small cuts made on his finger tips as a source of blood for his hexing had but miniscule traces of red left upon their surfaces. The shadow magic had vanished entirely, leaving the circle diminished in appearance due to much of the small traces of blood being absorbed through its energy.
"Why can't I get this stupid thing right?" Nolan threw his arms down by his side, glaring down at his failure of a hex... he'd seen more flashing images than the previous times, but still... it wasn't good enough. He'd only been in Lorsette for a few days now but he didn't want to waste any more time with being a part from his brother. The darkness within him.... Nolan was forced to accept, so that he may have a chance of using its powers to reunite with his only remaining family. It was his fault he wasn't already proficient in shadow magic.... because he had refused to use it out of denial of becoming Fallen. Maybe if he'd just... given into it.... he would have mastered it by now, and would have already found Basil.
With a wet rag, Nolan cleaned the floor before tossing it away in the garbage. Despondency consumed his gaze, solemnity showing within his eyes as he went about tidying up the living room so that it wouldn't be a mess for when Jared came back from his job interview. His other roommate, Caleb, had gone to the gym. Nolan used the time he had alone to once more practice his Hexing and while he'd made progress, it wasn't enough to satisfy him at all. He hated how long it was taking.... and even if in reality, it'd but been two days since he came to Lorsette, it was still another two days of his life without knowing where his brother was.
Popping open the cap of a water bottle, Nolan took a long and parched sip. It was then when a loud CRASH sound occurred just outside his apartment door. He looked over in its direction.... surprise hinting within the gloom of his gaze. "What the hell was that?" He murmured to himself, before hearing a feminine "Ow..." a few moments later. The voice of a young lady sounding hurt was enough for him to set aside his water bottle and zip out of the kitchen area. His socked feet nearly slipped on the sleek wood floor but luckily, the sliding only gave him easier momentum as it slipped him right to the door. Opening it, Nolan stepped half-way out to see a small woman having taken a fall in the hallway with a broke box and scattered wooden pieces all over the place.
Nolan's brown eyes widened at the sight in concern and alarm. "Woah, hey! Are you okay? He asked her right away, closing his door behind him as he went right up to the girl and offered her hand. A friendly, but still nonetheless concerned smile crossed the warmth of his face when looking upon her, "Were you carrying this all by yourself? Jeez, it looks heavy..." Was there seriously no one else helping her? There was no way that a box packed with all those wood pieces would be easy for a petite girl to carry....
[attr="class","box"]tag: @shairyuu notes: Thank you again for starting!! It was the perfect opening sequence for their meeting ^^
What followed the impact of falling onto the ground, was a momentary sensation of relief of hearing the Terror gliding through where they'd been standing... a missed target, thank goodness. The adrenaline once more begun surging within him as Nolan tried to sit himself up from where he'd taken down William with him. [break][break]
However, as he lifted his head, an odd vision of sparkling gold threads similar to the color of William's magical aura had woven itself between his fingers that had grasped the other male's shoulders. Emerald eyes slowly opened, eye contact being made... before a tingling rush came over Nolan as the aura of golden energy had not only tied its way around his hands, but also loomed over him in an intoxicating cloud. [break][break]
The strength of its presence managed to gradually but very quickly numb Nolan to many of his senses, his eyes widening in confusion, surprise.... and something he wasn't quite sure what it was. It caught him off guard and his mouth slightly opened.... face warming in a light red coloring. "A-are... are you, uh...." He struggled to shake himself out of it, but his lack of preparation of what was to come rendered him a victim to its overpowering aura and golden sparking bands, "Y-you... okay....?"[break][break]
A sinister echoing groan arose not far away from the terror, whom had begun powering up a purple glow within its demeanor as though preparing to charge right at them. Nolan, unfortunately, was all but unable to come back to mindfulness as his eyes harbored down towards William in a daze.

Modestly, Quentin took the bag from him, thanking him for the gesture while also saying how he didn't need to bother himself with going out of his way. Nolan's smile brightened in an adamant mannerism, dismissively waving the comment along with the white-haired man's humble uncertainty of being troublesome. It honestly wasn't a big deal to Nolan at all and he genuinely didn't expect anything in return from him. It was simply a selfless favor to lighten the burden weighing upon someone else's shoulders.
"You don't need to worry over paying me back. Seriously, I was just wanting to do something nice for someone, that's all," He insisted as he allowed for the weight of his own plastic back to slip idly around his wrist, "We're good, okay? I expect nothing in return from you-- no ulterior motives!" His smile broadened in a playful, but still sincere mannerism upon his last few words. This would be the second time this week he'd done something for a stranger, and they acted as though they were indebted to him... was it that uncommon for an unfamiliar face to show some compassion towards others? In any case, he was just relieved that he didn't miss Quentin.
"Oh, but, nope! I'm not busy, I was just going to head on back to my place," Nolan answered before wonderment flickered within his expression, the cool evening air beginning to fill his lungs more heavily as he stood on the sidewalk's block, "How come?" He couldn't think of a reason why, unless if this guy was just trying to politely offer him conversation or something since he did go running after him. He wasn't intending on taking up this guy's time though, nor did he want him to feel obligated to chat with him just because of what happened.
[attr="class","box"]tag: Quentin Daniels notes: Ahh, thank you! Quentin is so thoughtful, wanting to pay him back~
Thankfully the guy heard him calling out and stopped in his steps, turning to face him while Nolan sped up into a slight run to reach him faster. When he did catch up in a matter of seconds, he eased into a stop in front of him, a grin transpiring along his lips as he offered a friendly small wave with his free hand. "Whew, I'm glad I caught you. I was worried you'd already be gone!" He admitted with a slight laugh, friendliness exuding from him. Had the guy already vanished it would have been a huge disappointment, but not end of the world... with how much trouble he and his friends somehow managed to land themselves in, they'd probably end up using the bandages.
"Anyway! Nice meeting you, Quentin. The name's Nolan," He introduced chattily, not seeming at all out of breath from his sprinting over. He extended out one of the plastic bags, the one of which that had the bandaids and bandages that Quentin was originally trying to purchase. "I didn't have enough money to get everything, but I was able to use the fifteen to get you at least a few of the items you had," He really had no idea what else he was actually trying to buy but, hey, at least he had some of it now.

Amusement visibly colored the features of William's face and his comment about his magic resulted in a small smirk, and slight shrug of his shoulders, once more rocking on the back of his heels slowly... and trying to keep up a poker face. He didn't want to accidentally slip-up through the language of his eyes or his expression if the Fae happened to guess something very close to his true identity. [break][break]
He stopped in his idle slight rocking, upon William checking his back... no sign of his wings were present. The fair-haired young man didn't come to any conclusion regarding his species and asked for a secondary hint. "So soon?" He asked him with a playful smile, his voice once more smooth in tone as he gazed upon him, "Well..." A quiet hum in thought left the teen.... before seeing something very distinct rapidly zooming closer and closer to William from behind. There was no time to react using magic as the monster appeared to be on a very stubborn mission, with violence luring in the glow red of its eyes.[break][break]
"LOOK OUT!" He shouted, quickly grabbing William by the shoulders and launching the two of them out of harm's way, stumbling towards the ground. A shadowy black Terror, larger than the ones they'd encountered before in the alley, came soaring right through where they'd just been standing with a malicious echoing snicker leaving its exterior.
