Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
The buzz of summer surrounded the small store, Candy-Line Pockets. The steady arrival of the months of freedom summoned plenty of familiar faces bouncing through the doors. From children to adults, the shop featured many entering through the glass double doors to view the shelves brimming with colourful sweets. The arrival of summer's first month represented the beginning of pride and the hatching of an interesting idea. A minor representation in the form of specially made chocolates was planned for the month, specifically small, colourful treats.
[break][break]
Hours of work during the evening had allowed Violet the opportunity to create her rectangular, colourful chocolates. Atop the dark chocolate base was a carefully lined decorum displaying designs of the pride flags. From the varying sexualities to gender representation, everything Violet could reasonably access representational flags for was painted across the tops of chocolate. For additional enjoyment, Violet had added rich caramel to the interiors of the chocolatey sweets, allowing for a pleasant mixture of flavours.
[break][break]
However, today would be their initial preview to the public. The young woman wished to oversee the potential success or failure of her hard work. Everything was positioned for the weekend shift, a time where children escaped the bounds of their final school days and could explore Lorsette. The timing represented a proper opportunity to divulge in observing the potentials of her success. Thus, with one of her weekend employees arriving, Violet discovered herself prepared to judge the successes of her latest creation.
[break][break]
Admittedly, the procuring of work time would be removed from her personal time. Alas, a sense of pride always overcame her when it arrived at cultivating Candy-Lined Pockets and living out her father's dream. Failure meant the closing of the doors and atmosphere that always embraced her and brought a sense of warmth. It made these precious moments of lurking through shelves a heartwarming sight. Each step a reminder of the work they placed into it and the legacy she upheld with every push forward to success.
[break][break]
Through the early hours of the morning, the shelves were stocked and prepped for opening hour. Arrays of colourful sweets of varying types were displayed for curious eyes, and by the counter were the specially made dark chocolate and caramel sweets she prepped the previous day. An enthusiastic smile painted Violet's face as everything was prepared for the day's operation, and with a dash of hope, the green-eyed woman believed her efforts would be enjoyed. When the time arrived, the front door was unlocked, the outside sign lit and a smaller, colourful sign saying "Open" hanged at the door.
[break][break]
Her spirits were high and her hopes higher as she awaited the arrival of customers into the store she placed endless amounts of work into.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Today was going to be an eventful day for the twenty-one-year-old because she was going to visit the candy shop. Her love for sweets was as big as her love for art. If she had to choose between the two, she wouldn't know which to choose.[break][break]
Her heartbeat was beating fast as she got ready for the day. No one would know how the day would begin or end for Yue.[break][break]
"I can't wait to eat some candy." She whispered to herself.[break][break]
Yue wore casual clothes. Her favorite, a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. Oh! And no one can forget the bucket hat she always carried around if she needed to hide her face. Looking at the mirror, she checked to see nothing was amiss.[break][break]
After a few minutes, Yue arrived at her destination. She was like a child. Her eyes twinkled as she entered the shop. Her head turned left to right. Then upwards and downwards. Whoever owned the shop had the same love as she had with candy.[break][break]
Yue pulled on her hat to cover her eyes as she noticed her behavior towards the candy. She stopped to look at the dark chocolate. Candy can be good for anyone who needs a pick-me-up. And Yue needed one. The only trouble was which one she should purchase or try first.
Scanning the customers and shop racks, Violet enjoyed her observations of the business happenings. A soft sigh escaped her parted lips as her green hues twinkled in the artificial lights. A sense of happiness invaded Violet's chest at the unfolding of the day. Around her existed happy customers, plucking candy from the shelves and happily enjoying the delights available to them. The intense pride of her accomplishments motivated her to continue. It summoned reason for the long nights spent fulfilling specialized chocolate orders and seeking out the newest in candy delectable.
[break][break]
A cheerful hum escaped the woman's lips as she turned away, her plaid dress swaying around her. The apron tied around her accompanied by the small nametag inevitably denote her as a staff member. Once again her pale green eyes wandered the shop scenery until landing on a customer seemingly staring at the freshly made dark chocolates. A surge of jubilee rocketed through Violet upon the sighting. Her feet carried her towards the young woman with a bucket hat, each slow as she approached the stranger. Eventually, she reached her side.
[break][break]
"Hello," her voice was softer than honey, "would you like some help?"
[break][break]
The brunette favoured the other woman with a bright, cheery smile. There were rare instances where she would be able to work the shop isles, however, Violet enjoyed it nonetheless. The opportunity to connect with her customers was rare, thus, whenever it appeared she appreciated the chance. Offering her time to the patrons that made Candy-Lined Pockets profitable and operational were just as important as the employees and boss at the helm.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Yue couldn't decide which candy first so she worried that she was in the way. An employee asked if she needed help. And the poor girl needed assistance. Because without any help, Yue wasn't going to be leaving anytime soon. She probably would have wondered everywhere.[break][break]
"Thank you. Yes, I need some help." Yue responded as she fidgeted. Her right hand kept twirling her shirt as she talked.[break][break]
Most times no one would help her, so she was always on her own. Yue appreciated that for once she was going to get some help. She stood upright and noticed the employee had green eyes and short hair. The other girl had a cute apron as well.[break][break]
"I can't decide which candy to try. There are so many. Which do you recommend I try?"
A graceful grin stretched across the brunette's face as she approached the other woman. There was a natural joy in Violet's expression as she stood alongside the stranger. Inside her chest was a bubbling sensation as her excitement for the day endlessly increased. Given the number of cherished sweets inside Candy-Lined Pockets, indecision was an expected consequence with the number of choices. While Violet could take the emotion as a compliment to her sugary choices and creations, it inevitably left the customer uncertain.
[break][break]
She listened to every word, the brunette nodding as the stranger continued. A gentle 'hmm' squeezed through her closed lips as her light green eyes scanned the area.
[break][break]
"Well," she began softly, fingers perching beneath her chin. "The Pride Flag chocolates are new. I worked on them through the evening and the chocolate here is handmade."
[break][break]
The luciae's pointed to the chocolates the stranger was gazing over, however, shortly a soft giggle escaped her lips. Her countenance shortly reaffirmed in a broad smile.
[break][break]
"I am being a bit bias suggesting you that. Are there certain types of candy you may be searching for?" The business owner inquired happily.
[break][break]
Despite her love of the hard work she placed into the dark chocolate and caramel squares, she wished to give a proper suggestion. Her initial words were fueled by a slight bias given the number of hours she poured into her creation. Nonetheless, the young woman knew the chocolates oftentimes received the most praise. Since she was a little girl, Violet learned to create her own chocolates and the quality frequently left people raving for more.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] When she finally heard the other speak, Yue felt guilty for being vague on her request.[break][break]
Yue turned her head to where the employee directed her attention to the new Pride chocolates. She hadn't noticed them until now. They were indeed well made. If she were to try to make any candy, it would have turned horrible. The young gal couldn't wait to sink her teeth into the cute chocolates.[break][break]
"These look cute!" She clasped her hands. "I'll have to add these to the list of being eaten."[break][break]
"Oh no! Any suggestion is fine by me. I love sweets. I sometimes get overwhelmed as to where to start." This was true because, on her own, poor Yue would have just stuck to her usual and not try anything else.[break][break]
"I usually buy dark chocolate, but I'd like to try something new. Whether it is something with dark chocolate or something entirely different." She nodded.[break][break]
Quietly, Violet's eyes ferried over the area around her, the woman's green hues admiring the surroundings before returning to the young stranger. Despite being the owner of the business, Violet oftentimes required a quick reassurance at the locations of their products. Primarily, the young chocolate maker knew the location of her various handmade chocolates on a small, circular rack floating in the center of the store. Otherwise, there were other colourful circular tables with various types of treats from lollipops and a secondary counter manned by two workers for .10 cent candies.
[break][break]
The young woman's cheer over being introduced to the specialty Pride chocolates strengthened Violet's smile. Her hard work was experiencing payoff with a single, sweet response. It brought her a sense of pride, coincidently, knowing somebody found the chocolates as cute. She wished to show her support to those a part of the LGBTQ+ community, especially given her association with the community.
[break][break]
"I'm glad to hear!" The brunette happily cheered. "It took a long time to get them done... I really wanted to show our support."
[break][break]
The mentioning of any suggestions being find brought Violet into a state of thought. There were other options that would allow for the stranger to try various candies in a single, mini baggie. A soft 'hmm' with a broad grin brought her eyes back to the 10 cent candy counter.
[break][break]
"If you want to try something different, you could try the .10 cent candy counter. You can get a bunch of different stuff for a low price and get the chance to try a bunch of new things. It's like getting a little mixed paper bag," Violet suggested.
[break][break]
The .10 cent candy counter was a wonderful creation in Violet's opinion. She remembered the days in her childhood where her father provided her with a couple of dollars to gleefully purchase some treats. While the prices had changed over the years, formerly being .5 cents before unfortunately being hiked up. Nonetheless, it was a joyous experience in Violet's opinion and something to give people a proper experience in trying different sweets.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Yue couldn't imagine how long the green-eyed gal had to create the Pride chocolates. There was probably a long process. But knowing any cook, the method to it wasn't too hard.[break][break]
"That's awesome that you wanna show your support. Most people are afraid to." It was neat to see a candy shop want to show their support to the LGBTQ+. Not many people would have the courage to.[break][break]
"Candy counter?" She cocked her head to the side. At the brunette's suggestion, it was a good idea to uptake. It reminded her of the gacha. In which you could get anything for cheap. Sometimes if you're lucky, you're able to get what you wanted in the first place on your first try.[break][break]
"That's a neat idea. I'd like to give it a try." She smiled. "Thanks for the suggestion."
A wave of triumph flowed over Violet as she directed the blonde towards the Pride Month chocolates. Compliments towards her hard-fought efforts always made the seconds spent slaving over it worthwhile. Giddy contentment rocketed through the brunette's veins as her hands clasped together, laying by her neck. A bubbly giggle rose from her throat as she became entirely enthralled in the abrupt wave of excitement. Approval was a pleasant aspect after the hours spent pondering and later working alongside heat and cold to accomplish her craft of passion.
[break][break]
"It felt like a good way to show my support, in my own little way that is," she giggled softly. "Finding my own method of celebrating seemed fun one night, so, here they are! The fruits- or maybe I should say chocolates of my labour."
[break][break]
The words left Violet grinning broadly at the playfully spoken words. Her tone possessed the cords of passion, a woman long forged by the opportunity to live out her dreams. There was nowhere else Violet wished to be than inside the walls of Candy-Lined Pockets, helping customers, accomplishing her boss duties and conjuring new creations. A quiet 'mmhmm' escaped pursed lips as an enthusiastic nod emphasized the confirmation. The amount of passion the luciae felt towards the shop allowed her to excitedly speak about the candy choices without hesitation.
[break][break]
"I'm just glad to give you some good suggestions," she answered happily. "Everyone who enters those doors deserves to have some nice, new sugary experiences."
[break][break]
The words were punctuated with a soft chuckle. The mantra, while true to the brunette's hearts, could easily be viewed as standard salesman speech. Sellers wished to amaze their customers and gained their admiration for repeat business, alas, Violet possessed a double motivation. Repeat business would always be a part of it, however, after cultivating the shop and learning the joys of sugary treats, Violet wanted to expand those chances for new delights in others.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] "That's awesome!" She smiled.[break][break]
"I can't wait to try these. Thank you!" Yue took one piece to give it a try. The brunette's comment made her giggle.[break][break]
Putting her hand over her mouth. "These are indeed good." The chocolate was made to perfection. It wasn't too sweet. The candy chocolate was made just right with its ingredients.[break][break]
Looking up a question popped in her head. "Is this milk chocolate or..?"[break][break]
"I agree, everyone deserves some chocolatey goodness." Yue nodded.
Glee swirled in Violet as she discovered contentment in assisting the young customer. After many years of assuring the smooth operation of Candy-Lined Pockets, witnessing the broad smiles of consumers was a grand easement; another reminder of her efforts being worthwhile. The young woman’s excitement was infectious, Violet’s lips only growing and cultivating the broad smile. It appeared the taste test went well as the young woman provided a contented response.
[break][break]
The brunette shook her head. “Nope! It’s dark chocolate with some chocolatey caramel inside! I’m glad you like it.”
[break][break]
Happily, the young woman brought her hands together, bringing them up to her chest. The response she received was praise for her hard efforts. A proper taste test confirmed the delicious conditions of the chocolates. It was a pleasant notion, summoning endless happiness inside Violet.
The brunette was hoping for success in creating wondrous chocolate for the customer. She considered it her duty to Lorsette to spread joy with the use of handmade chocolates for people to snap and bite into. The satisfying sounds of breaking chocolate to share or the sinking of teeth into sweets of his own. When the customer complimented her work, Violet's countenance glowed as a broad, bright smile stretched across her face. In content bliss, Violet's hands came together, grasping one another as she felt the joy take her.
[break][break]
"I'm happy to hear that!" She cheered.
[break][break]
With her efforts praised, Violet felt as though the day was valued and worth her time. The dedicated work she accomplished towards the creation of delightful chocolates made another satisfied customer. As the woman stated she was prepared to go, Violet nodded.
[break][break]
"Alright, and you're welcome. I'm more than happy to help, and if you come back you're welcome to ask for Violet," the woman offered, providing her name. "Would you like a bag or anything? I can grab you one while the cashier rings you through."
[break][break]
Her success in making a happy customer only motivated Violet to assist her more. The young woman was pleasant company, thus, she hoped they would meet again when she had her next sweet tooth.
