Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
A frown pressed into his features when she spoke about being kicked out. He was in no place to offer her help since the two of them didn’t even know each other, but it still made him angry enough that he wanted to do something. But everything became more clear the more Alida explained about the situation and how her mother was the real chain around her feet.
He let out a low scoff of amusement when she told him that she wouldn’t listen if she hadn’t been tied down and how her father would fix everything when he returned. The waitress came back then to give them their drinks and ask if they were ready to order.
“BBQ Ribs,” he told the lady and set his menu to the end of the table. As the woman took Alida’s order it gave the teen some time to think about her brother and father being in the TRS. What if they didn’t return? What would she do then? The thought sobered his face and he seemed lost in his thoughts as he stared out the window into the main mall area.

Barbeque ribs were so typical that Alida had to give a silent roll of her eyes. When the waitress turned to take her order, Alida began to fold her menu and hand it to the woman as she said, “I’ll have the street tacos,” and then laughed and couldn’t help but add; “What a name.”
“Yeah, I’m not sure why they decided to name it that,” the waitress chuckled as she gathered their menus and pocketed her writing pad within her apron. Alida gave her two-cents on the subject as she debated, “I’ll take a guess and say they’re referring to the street vendors. So, they’re going to be street vendor-like tacos.”
“Probably,” The waitress agreed, but then confided with a laugh, “But, they’re really good. I always try to take some home if I’m on shift for closing.”
“Oooh, well I am looking forward to trying them out!” Alida flashed the young waitress a cheeky grin as she took her leave, and then returned her attention to Nicolas.
Alida and the waitress started talking on their own, but he was only half paying attention to what they were saying. The subject of death was everywhere but people in Lorsette just carried on with their lives like nothing was even going on. He had fallen into the same line, but that didn’t mean he had forgotten or didn’t think about it…
A light sigh left him as he glanced back towards the waitress as she departed and then towards Alida who was completely carefree like everyone else. He wasn’t going to burst her bubble by bringing up the chance of her family dying and if she even ‘thought’ about that. Instead he brought up something else entirely.
“Have you ever seen a terror before?”

Nicolas’ question surprised her to say in the least, and that surprise probably showed on her features for a brief moment while she stared across the table at him. “Well, yeah,” She answered, but her expression and visibly changed, coming off a bit stiff or standoffish while she answered him. “Hasn’t everyone?” She gave a shrug of her shoulders and pulled her mocha over to lift the mug up and take a sip.
She didn’t want to think about it, and so she literally shoved any thought, memory, or imagery far out of reach from her mind.
He had been too quick to judge. Even though she acted carefree there were still things that haunted her. The change in her response and demeanour was enough to give that away. The dirty blonde had his own feelings on the creatures that destroyed everything in their path. He couldn’t remember the exact attack on him when he was younger, but he still occasionally had nightmares of it.
“Sometimes I forget that,” he mumbled out as he glanced back out the window. “Everything just seems normal out there.”

Alida’s gaze drew to the windows beside their table and she didn’t know what to make of Nicolas’ sudden change in mood, or the topic at hand. She definitely wasn’t good at this kind of stuff. She was probably one of the people he was referring to where she just went on like normal, living out each day despite the dangers, hardships, or discrimination she faced within the world. Ugh, she really didn’t want to be reminded of her life back in Corner Brook, but discussions like these just drudged up all the bad.
“I guess it can be kind of infuriating,” She blurted, but still felt rather standoffish with these types of conversations. “Eh, maybe it’s some sort of chain reaction,” She added because she didn’t know how to keep her goddamn mouth shut. “I mean, what else can you do when everyone else is a dick?” Yeah, she wasn’t going to reiterate or go any further with that conversation.
It took a moment, but Alida soon delved head first into the conversation. He was still getting used to the way she was and he realized now she was probably the worst person to get into a serious conversation with. But despite the subject at hand her replies still managed to bring amusement to the table and again he found himself snorting out a laugh.
“I don’t think I can argue with that,” he told her and had a light smirk on his face. “How’s your non-alcoholic beverage?” Nicolas teased as he took a sip of his own and decided to change the subject.

Thank Volos, Nicolas decided to laugh, telling her that he couldn’t argue with her sentiment, and then jokingly changed the subject. Still, Alida couldn’t help but wonder what sort of thoughts Nicolas had about the terrors or destroyed cities for that matter. He had unknowingly wrecked havoc upon her own past and she had half the mind to return the favor. “It’s amazing,” She answered with a grin, her spirits renewed, and like an ass she did exactly as she thought; “What about you? Why do you seem to be so solemn when it comes to terrors and destroyed cities?” Of course, when she thought about it that way, she supposed no one really needed a reason to be upset by something upsetting.
His smile broadened when she told him that it was quote on quote ‘amazing’. But surprisingly, although insensitively, she did choose on her own to carry on their conversation about terrors. He let out a light breath and his smile remained but had lessened as he turned his gaze from her. “That’s a redundant question,” he told her with comedy still lingering in their conversation, but he did grow more serious when he answered her. “I’ve lived through two cities being destroyed and my entire family...myself included almost being completely wiped out by terrors.” His brown eyes returned to hers, but there was an uncomfortableness with the subject...with the open admittance of his history revolving around terrors. He didn’t want there to be though. He didn’t want any kind of feeling attached to his past he just wanted to spit out like it was just an event he had lived through.
The terrors had become a fear but he wanted to focus more on the meaningful losses in his life the ones actually dead.

Well, Alida certainly hadn’t expected the answer Nicolas so willingly confided to her. The eighteen year old’s expression quickly sobered by the dirty blond’s admittance, and a subtle sort of awkwardness filled the air between them. Sometimes, she opened her mouth without fully thinking things through. But, to her complete defense, she hadn’t actually ever imagined that he would actually answer her honestly!
“Goddamn,” Alida blurted, clearly feeling shocked and also a little at a loss after his big ‘admittance’. “I’ve been lucky, then,” She added, idly sipping her mocha as she stared across the table at him. After a moment, she placed her mug down and leaned forward. “Okay, okay, I’ve also dealt with terrors before, but not like that. I was more directly singled out, I guess, and was… eh, well, ‘saved’, I suppose.” She confided, but air-quoted saved and grimaced at ever having to link Osiris and savior together.
Kenneth was a very real reminder of how detrimental their attacks could be. He had learned the real reason why both of his fathers suffered so greatly during the first terror attack he had experienced. Kenneth had been home alone and Volac had been at his shop...they were both outnumbered and no match without each other. That was part of the argument used against him why he couldn’t be a ‘lone’ demon and needed to find others he could rely on because a loner wouldn’t last long in this world.
Nicolas took another drink of his cola as Alida responded to his reply and despite having every reason to not believe him she did without question and even began to share more of her situation. “I hope I won’t become just another; this guy ‘saved’ me, sort, of not really, in the future,” he told her with a relaxed smile.

“I hope I won’t become just another; this guy ‘saved’ me, sort of, not really, in the future.” Nicolas openly joked in return, and his lighthearted humor brought a smile back to Alida’s features. “‘Course not,” She immediately dismissed with a brief wave of her hand and then sat back against the booth and brought her mug up to take another drink.
“Not my homeboy, Nicolas,” She snickered and would have given him a fistbump if she had actually believed he would receive it in kind. “This other guy was a ripe douchebag. Trust me, he deserves no credit.”
Alida’s hometown had been destroyed by terrors and she had faced one on her own. Those were the two experiences she had and even admitted out loud his situation was worse than hers. Still what she had experienced did clearly effect her because her features had become more than somber before. He had even sensed a bit of defensiveness in her returning statements prior. It was oddly comforting talking about this, sharing things, and not hiding from them.
He expressed another breathy laugh as he shook his head lightly to her solemn promise that she wouldn’t do that to her homeboy Nicolas. “I think I started out like a ripe douchebag too,” he carried on with his teasing. “Or was it perv douchebag, I can’t quite remember.”

“I think I started out like a ripe douchebag too,” Nicolas laughed with a shake of his head, and his words caused Alida to outright grin as she realized that he was right. “Or was it perv douchebag, I can’t quite remember.”
“Hey,” She immediately defended herself, although good-naturedly and with a smile on her face. “How can you blame me, huh? It looked like a guy was wandering around in the women’s changing room to me.”
“I mean, I do think I jumped the gun a little with my accusations,” She laughed as she admitted. “But, it was still a weird coincidence either way.”
"Hey," Alida chimed in playfully and proceeded to converse with him. Nicolas listened with his own light smile and just felt relaxed with his current company. It had been too long for him to just causally talk with a friend. But the word didn't bring him comfort instead it just reminded him of his life and the complications that would arise from having a female friend. Alida would no doubt blow a gasket if she discovered his fathers hated women. Yeah, she'd have way too much to say about that... knowing her stupidity too she'd probably get herself hurt in the process. "I do blame you for missing the very obvious sign," he told her in return, but he was being sarcastic and it made him shake his head. "I can't tell which one of us are bad luck. First time, we find ourselves in gender wonderland, second meeting bam we're on a bus hitting every pothole in the city and finally the holy water incident. I think this is our first normal meeting out of them all."
He took another drink and gestured towards the waitress for Alida when their food finally arrived. It smelt good, BBQ ribs with, green coleslaw and french fries. His earlier thoughts were still on his mind, but he was procrastinating with them because he was enjoying himself.
