Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
He wasn't sure where else he really wanted to go. His shift was over and even though he knew he should probably head back to his apartment, he deicded he didn't really feel like it. It would mean a night of sitting on his couch with his cat and while that was usually nice, he needed a small break. Honestly, he barely wanted to come to the Golden Crown, but as he walked, it appeared next to him and he figured why not. Plus, he may be imperivous to heat, but he wasn't to the cold and when his hands had started to feel like pincushions he knew he should head indoors a while. He pulled open the door to the entrance and walked inside a nice blast of heat hitting him when he did.
It was sort of packed, but he made his way to the bar to a few of the empty seats and sat down at one of them, for now leaving on his coat. When the bartender walked over, he nodded towards him and ordered a jack and coke. He took a look around as he waited, only recognizing a few people.
she felt like such a kid. everyone had talked about getting drinks after work and she feared she wouldn't be invited. of course she was somewhere else. she wouldn't be shunned like she was previously. it had been at least a year or two now, but she couldn't help that she thought of that day.
"go get dressed we'll see you around 7."she looked up from her charts and nodded."alright, see you guys then. i'm almost done."she told her fellow co-worker and watched them leave. she was filling out some charts. honestly it wouldn't take her long to get back home. one of the benefits of having teleportation. she wouldn't abuse it like this, but she figured she better hurry.
so she was running late. no big deal. she walked in and scanned the crowd until she found the group. she waved at the ones that looked up and saw her, but she didn't go join them. instead she walked up towards the counter and took a seat. to her right was an empty seat in between her and a guy. to her left was no one. she took off her coat as she waited for a bartender to take her order. she felt silly for coming out here."hey can you pass me that menu. please and thank you."she said to the guy to her right. she had figured she'd eat something and not just drink her dinner.
He tapped his fingers on the bar a few times and looked around the bar one more time, a small sigh escaping his lips. He had a few friends from work, but he mostly kept to himself aside from his brother, but knowing him, he was already asleep at his parents house. A year or so ago, he would have already been sitting next to his biological brother, but the time was over for that- he was gone and it still upset him to think about it. The seat next to him was empty and he wished that his brother was sitting there. A Year wasn't long enough to spend with him.
The bartender arrived with his drink and he pulled himself away from his thoughts and thanked the man for his drink, picking it up and taking a sip. Just as he was putting his glass down, a pretty girl sat down and asked for a menu.
"Oh," He looked to his right for a moment and saw a pile, "Yeah," He grabbed one and handed one over to her, a faint smile on his face.
At that moment, he decided it would be best if he ordered something, too. He shouldn't be drinking on an empty stomach. Eli grabbed a menu for himself and flipped it open.
He glanced at the girl again, 'maybe I should introduce myself...'
"I'm Eli," He said holding a hand in her direction. Maybe she was here by herself like he was.
she smiled as he handed her the menu. for a split second she thought it was him. she shook her head. no it wasn't him, he was gone."oh thank you."she said at a loss for words. usually she was talking your ear off, but right now she was just hungry.
the bartender finally arrived with her amaretto sour and she took a drink. she couldn't help but sneak peeks at the guy beside her. they looked similar, but that's it. right? as far as she knew he didn't have any siblings. he spoke once more and she looked at his hand. she shook his hand."eli, that's cute. i'm danika."she told him with a shake of the hand."so you come here often? promise that wasn't a cheesy pick up line."she said with a laugh.
"anything you recommend to eat? or is this your first time here too?"she asked after dropping his hand and placing it on the menu. she flipped through it looking at the selection of food.
She accepted the menu and said thank you and he gave a small nod in return, "You're welcome." Eli took another sip of his drink. The bartender had made it a bit stronger than he used to though he imagined it was because he knew what Elijah had gone through. In fact, for a few months they frequented The Golden Crown, sitting fairly close to where he was sitting now.
Eli couldn't help but notice that she kept sneaking small peaks at him. Either that, or it was his imagination. He was sort of known for being a bit too confident in himself; for all he knew, she was checking the time or looking at something behind the bar.
When he introduced himself to her, she shook his hand in return and said her name. Eli couldn't help but laugh at her next words as a grin formed on his face. It wasn't often that he smiled that large so it felt a bit foreign- especially after the past year. It also wasn't common for him to feel a blush creep up on his cheeks. There must have been something special about her. Either that, or he was very much off his game. "Alright, I'll believe you this time," he replied jokingly, glancing over to her. He found himself at the bar a decent amount of times over the years and he wondered the same about her, forgetting to even answer the question himself.
"Oh," Eli glanced at the menu a moment, "I've only ever had the burger and the friend pickles. I might not be much help, I'm afraid." Normally, he ate pretty healthy, but sometimes he really didn't care and tonight was one of those nights. He was going to eat fried things and he was okay with it.
When the bartender came back over he ordered some friend pickles and a cheeseburger with the works. He hadn't eaten there in a while, but change was good every so often.
she smiled as he thanked her for the compliment. she did find his name cute and as she got a better look at him. he was pretty cute himself. she still couldn't shake that feeling though. she shook her head as if that was going to help push that thought away. she stopped and felt ridiculous. she took another drink and waved the the bartender down. she was ready for another drink.
she smiled at his words."that's alright. just means i might have to be a bit adventurous. though i might skip the fried pickles."she said with a nod. pickles were not her thing. she use to love them as a kid, but grew out of them around her teens.
she waited till he got his ordered in and said to the bartender she would have the same minus the pickles of course. she wasn't sure how to keep this conversation going. she took another drink as she tried to think of what to say."so are you waiting for someone?"
He nodded in return to her skipping the pickles. It's very true that weren't for everyone. Eli actually couldn't stand them until a few years ago. He wasn't sure what exactly changed, but he was personlly very happy for it. "Nothing wrong with a bit of adventure." Actually, he should be more adventurous- he had been less impulsive by the week and he could feel boredom kicking in.
He took another drink trying to decide if he wanted another one when she asked him another question. "Oh," He shook his head slightly, "No, just me tonight." Eli paused a moment before returning the question, "Are you?" He was hoping that she was alone tonight too, but he doubted she was in here by herself.
she laughed softly."speaking of being adventurous and not trying fried pickles..."maybe it was only funny in her head. well it didn't matter now. the cat was out of the bag. she shook her head once more and then went in for a drink. now that she didn't have the menu to look at she played with her cup. she was pretty decent with eye contact, but right now she was struggling. maybe if she had another drink.
she nodded at his answer and pondered what she should say. she kinda ditched the group. they hadn't seen her. wait she had waved at them, but no one had come up to her."uh, no. i mean i see a couple of my co-workers here, but im by myself too."she said with a smile.
He joined her a small laugh. It wasn't necessarily funny, but he had found her words pretty amusing and the laugh was genuine. Eli wasn't used to this whole laughing and smiling thing. He'd barely done it tonight and his cheeks already hurt some from their lack of motion over the past couple years. Eli watched her play with her cup for a moment. Oh God, I'm boring tonight, He thought to himself. Everyone had those nights sometimes right? Why did he have to choose the night when a pretty girl sits by him?
He nodded at her reply. He wondered which of the people there were her co-workers, though he didn't really know why he would care. Either way, it worked for him because maybe she would stick around a bit longer. He took the last sip of his drink and turned towards her in his chair, leaning an elbow on the counter. "Can I buy you another drink?" He asked with a slightly crooked smile towards her. It was the least he could do to offer since he was about to order one for himself, as well.
it was nice of him to laugh. maybe she had too much to drink and was now stumbling over her words. it wouldn't be the first time. she finished the last of her drink and thought about eating the cherry that had come with her drink. it wasn't too long after that that their food had shown up."i hope the food is good. im starving."she told him as she popped a fry into her mouth.
"sure, but only if i can buy you a drink some other time."she said with a smile. what was she doing? promising him a drink. it wasn't a date, he said he was a regular. right?"thank you."she told him with a smile. she told the bartender she would also do a water. she didn't want to down her drink too fast."so eli, what do you do?"
Eli nodded, "Me too." She hoped the food was good once it had arrived and Eli hoped the same. If they were lucky, they got one of the better chefs in the kitchen. There was at least one that was sort of questionable but after eating one of the small fried pickles, he knew that they were safe. He was thankful because he wanted his food to taste good, of course, but he was also thankful because he had told Danika it was good and he would have felt like he lied if it wasn't.
He smiled with a small nod, "You're welcome. It's a date," came right out of his mouth before he could think twice about it. For all he knew, that was just friendly, "Or well, not-a-date. I mean," He added, pausing a moment, feeling a bit ridiculous as he motioned to the bartender for another of each of their drinks. "A date as in a plan." He felt his cheeks get a bit hot and shook his head slightly feeling like a mess, "Yeah, I would love that." Maybe he could use another drink about now.
Thankful for the new question he replied, "I'm a firefighter." Even if he had a different power or no power at all, he had a feeling he would still be in the same profession. "What do you do?"
she grabbed the ketchup bottle and add ketchup on the side to dunk her crispy fries in. she cut her burger in half. it consisted of lettuce, tomato, bacon, pepperjack cheese and barbecue sauce and of course the beef patty. she grabbed one slice and took a big bite. she was starving and the food smelled good. she chewed slowly savoring the bite. after setting her burger down she wiped her face."a date it is then."she said with a smile. she had been to busy eating that she didn't give much a reaction.
"really!? no offense but i totally pictured you in an IT job or something with computers."she said with a laugh."or working with animals."she said with a smile."i work for the trs, im a ward medic, like a nurse but with more surgical knowledge. not to say nurses aren't doing plenty."she said trailing off before taking another bite of her delicious burger.
Luckily for him, Danika had been fixing up her burger when he was fumbling over words and what to say- something that didn't often happen to him. He was very relieved when she said that it was a date. It made him feel much less foolish. Eli joined her in fixing his burger and went so far as to put some fried pickles on it and ranch dressing.
A small laugh escaped his lips, "None taken, he replied. He knew that he didn't look much like someone who would run into burning buildings. "I don't think I would survive in IT. I like the thrill." He smiled at her. Their drinks showed up and he thanked the bartender taking a sip of his and eating some of his food.
"I'd imagine that would probably be pretty difficult," He nodded thinking it over for a few moments. He didn't think that he could do that job. If someone was injured in a fire he would just hand them away to someone better suited. "Do you like it?" As soon as he asked it, he felt a bit silly. If she didn't like it then why would she be doing it?
she couldn't help but laugh at his comment. she knew better than to judge appearances. let alone try to pin a job on a person just because of the way they looked. eli just had that air about him. or maybe she secretly wanted him to be a nerdy type a guy. completely different from her ex. she took a bite of her burger once she had stopped laughing."what no thrill in IT? no pressure when the internet has gone down and people are practically suffering withdraws?"okay maybe she took it a bit too far. she laughed once more."yeah, sounds rather boring."she said with a laugh. she continued ehating while he spoke.
she smiled at him."oh a firefighter. i guess that fits you more. you seem like the hero type."she said with a nod."saving kitty's from trees and all."she said with a smile. knowing all to well what happens with patients that come in with burns. she sipped her water, knowing she'd get thirsty with her meal she had ordered a water as well. she pondered his question. did she enjoy seeing the pain and suffering of others. being constantly reminded that not everyone can be saved. it was easy think like that, but she tried seeing the positive. she helped others heal and continue living. she gave others hope or at least she wanted to believe she did. telling someone that their loved one will be okay. know she did all she could to save a life."it can be tough some days, but its very rewarding. seeing everyone feel better and knowing you were just a part in that process. i can't put the feeling to words."she said with a small laugh.
Eli laughed at her comment about IT. The thought of the fate of the internet resting in his hands almost sounded exciting to him when she said it the way she did. His brain even took a moment to think of the scenario imagining cries for help and possibly even a couple explosions as he frantically tried to fix it. He knew it didn't make any sense whatsoever, but it was doing a good job amusing him.
"Actually, now that you say that, maybe it would be sort of exciting," He said through the small laugh before taking a sip of his drink. "The fate of the internet in my hands." The thought was actually kind of scary- they probably would never get it back again. "Maybe I should switch professions."
"Yes," He smiled, "You'd be surprised just how many cats there are in trees. Full-time job, that is." He nodded. He was kidding, though there was some truth in it. Some weeks there were actually more cats than fires. He did like being called a hero though- not that he needed anything else to inflate his ego.
Danika explained her job and nodded, "I can see how it would be rewarding," he replied thinking about how many people he's sent to get burns treated. He wondered if she had ever gotten anyone he had saved. Sometimes he would stop by the hospital and check on them, but he generally wouldn't introduce himself.
"No, that's alright," He smiled, "I asked. Plus, it's good that you like it. You're definitely the hero type too."
