Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Demetria was working on her latest project, she needed more fabric for one of her other designs but she wasn't interested in going outside during sunlight. She had gotten a phone call from her mother. "Hello?" She asked, somewhat surprised to have her mother calling her when she wasn't ready to send in the design just yet. "I need you to head to the airport, we paid for you to get a body guard and he will be there shortly." Her mother explained to her. "Mhmm...." Demetria answered, too focused on her work to be paying attention. "Love you sweetie, have fun." Her mother answered and Demetria replied, "I love you too." The conversation started to sink in. "Wait, what?" The phone call had ended because her mother hung up, she hadn't heard Demetria's question because she had assumed that Demetria had heard her in the first place.
She looked at the time on her phone, it wasn't dark yet. I have to apply sunscreen and find sunglasses to wear. She thought to herself, somewhat annoyed at the idea of having to prepare to leave during the day time still. She called for a taxi to pick her up at her apartment, using the time she would be waiting for them to show up to apply the sunscreen and find her sunglasses. She placed her cell phone in her right front pocket and her wallet in her back pocket, heading towards the door she grabbed her keys and locked it after it closed. The taxi showed up a few minutes later. "I need to go to the airport to pick somebody up." She explained, quickly getting inside as she waited for the driver to start driving. Once they got there, she got out of the car and started calling for Gideon but the man never showed up. She walked farther into the airport, still calling for him but couldn't find him anywhere.
She had searched for a hour before giving up and getting back in the taxi. "I don't know where he is, but he doesn't seem to be here anymore." She explained, somewhat annoyed that he wasn't there anymore. Instead of having the taxi drive her home she had him drop her off at the park, paying him the full amount before walking away. I went through all that effort to get him and he wasn't even there.... Maybe he chickened out and didn't even bored the plan... She thought to herself before seeing a couple of guys heading straight for her. She wasn't one for getting involved with other people, so she moved around them. One of the guys had reached out to grab her arm, pulling so that she wouldn't be able to move a few more feet away from them. "Let go." She wasn't interested in fighting them but if he didn't let go, she wasn't one for standing around waiting to be saved either.
a yawn escaped his lips. he had opted to sleep on the plane. the time was obviously going to be different and he knew on such a long flight it was better for him to sleep. it was highly unlikely that he was going to talk to anyone. well have a meaningful conversation to say the least.
he sighed as he waited to get off the plane. he didn't have much just one suit case. though it wasn't small enough for him to carry it on board. as soon as he got off the plane it was time to search for his luggage and possibly charge his phone. all the information about this girl was on it. everything seemed to be going according to plan. she was suppose to pick him up once the plane landed.
he looked outside, it was still pretty bright out. would she come for him or send someone. he stood watching other peoples luggage pass him. he found his suitcase and continued on his way. in search for an outlet and maybe get something to eat.
he sat near an outlet. it was rather lucky the small cafe in the airport had them. he could get something to eat while he charged his phone enough. after he finished his getting his coffee, he had decided against getting something to eat. he didn't want to be late in meeting up with the girl he walked towards the entrance. checking his watch trying to see if she was here yet.
he waited ten minutes and sighed. he hated waiting especially if he had no idea if the person was coming or not. it didn't matter much though. he had her address, but it was the rumbling in his stomach that was the issue. he hailed a taxi and asked them to drop them off near any food establishments.
he paid and got out. he was glad his suitcase was the kind with the wheels. it would of been a pain to have to carry it. he sighed once more. what did the guy say. it would be on his left or right? he had time to kill if he turned the wrong way he would just have to come back. he was walking along the path when he noticed a small group. stood back not sure if he really wanted to get involved. especially on an empty stomach, well one filled with nothing but coffee.
The guy hadn't let go of her arm and she couldn't help but feel slightly more annoyed. "Isn't it a bit dark to be wearing sunglasses?" The guy holding her arm had asked, gripping her arm tighter as if trying to prove his strength to her or something. So that is what this is about? He thinks he can do what ever he wants just because he thinks I look silly in this outfit? I'll show him.... She thought to herself, more annoyed that she had to deal with them. She reached out to grab his hand, squeezing it hard until she heard the bone pop out of place. The guy let go and she released his hand, hearing him screaming out in pain because his hand was bleeding. "YOU BITCH." The guy yelled at her, reaching out to try and grab her but she moved out of his way with ease. "Well don't just stand there, you fools.... Grab her." The guy ordered, which in turn had encouraged the other two guys to lunge right at her.
I'm not one for fighting, I don't want to deal with these guys right now. I just want to go home and not deal with them. She was pulled from her thoughts when one of the guys had snatched her sunglasses off of her face. Now that was rude, stealing my sunglasses. Why in the world would you do that? Did you think I was blind or something? Her face expression was annoyed as she eyed them closely. "You three are annoying pests...." She wasn't interested in wasting any more time with them, she turned on her heels and started running away from them. She couldn't help but wish she had gone another direction when she had noticed the guy with the suitcase just in front of her. Oh great, is there another one? She thought to herself, thinking of passing by him but chose against it. Instead she would come to a stop, unaware that he was the guy she had managed to miss picking up at the airport.
he said he didn't want to get involved, but yet he had remained at the scene. it seemed like the girl could handle herself. he watched the event unfold. the guy grabbing her and not a few seconds later the same guy screaming out in pain. what the hell was going on. at the point he figured the girl was more than capable of handling herself. he was glad he had remained undetected.
he was about to turn and leave when he noticed her running towards him. she had been facing away from him and he really had'n't seen her face. now he was sure it was her. he had looked over the file her parents had given him. it also included a picture. it was her. he sighed, in the file it had said she rarely left her home. here she was starting trouble.
she stopped right in front of him and he drew a barrier to at least stop them from coming closer. they were trapped but only for "demetria saito are you always causing trouble? lets go."he said as he started moving away from their location rather quickly."i can't hide you if you don't hurry up."he told her. he was fairly tired from the flight and wasn't really up for dealing with her fights. especially when she ran away from them.
Demetria hadn't expected the guy in front of her to speak out her name. Who is he and how does he know me? It didn't matter that he had a suitcase, she knew that she hadn't met him before so why did he seem to know her name so easily? She would deal with that another time, he told her that they should go and she hadn't followed after him. Did he just say that I caused trouble? She huffed when he told her that he wouldn't be able to hide her forever if she didn't hurry up. Now he just called me a slow poke.... She caught up to him with ease, still trying to piece together who this guy was. "Did you follow me to the park?" She asked, it would make sense to her seeing as he just so happened to be there just as she was leaving.
Wait... is he? There would be only one way to find out, "Who are you?" She asked, thinking that it was possible he was her body guard, the guy she hadn't found at the airport because he hadn't waited around. If he is him, I swear to god I'm going to give him a mouthful.... She thought to herself, if it wasn't for the fact that he had left the airport she could have picked him up and she wouldn't have been walking around alone at the park. She looked over her shoulder to see they weren't being followed anymore. She would slow down, clearly not in a rush in getting home just yet. I should get fabric while I'm out here. Seeing as I could always use more and there is no way in hell I''m going out in the sunlight to get it tomorrow.... I also need new sunglasses because that guy took mine....
the guys remained in his force field. he knew time was limited and it was only a matter of time before they would be out and running towards them. he rushed her and when she didn't move he turned back."of course not. i have no idea where im even going."he told her as he picked up the pace in hopes that she would hurry along.
"i'll answer all your questions once this is over. cleaning up your messes and its not even the first day."he said mumbling the last part. he scanned the area. surely those thugs knew the area better than he did. all he had to do was wait them out."grab my hand."he told her once he had stopped. he could hear running, but he wasn't sure where it was coming from or if it was them.
he stuck his hand out towards her."im not going to hurt you."he said as he sighed. obviously if he was in her shoes he would be questioning everything."im gideon ortiz. you're parents sent me. now don't say a word."he said as he grabbed her hand, if she hadn't already done so. it was just in time. he managed to cloak them, hide them from sight. at that moment the thugs came running past them. it seemed like they were still trying to hunt them down. they hadn't gotten far after all.
he let go of her hand once he figured it was all clear."i waited for more than thirty minutes. where were you? are you always this irresponsible?"he thought this was going to be an easy assignment. just baby sit from dumb rich kid. if she couldn't even handle picking him up from the airport. he sighed. this was going to be a long six months.
Demetria couldn't hold back her surprise when he claimed that he didn't know where he was going, sure he seemed interested in helping her but who was to say running the risk of being lost was helping. She had asked him who he was and he claimed that he'd answer her questions once it was all over. I have a feeling I know who he is.... She thought to herself, choosing to stay quiet, even though he was wrong about him having to clean up her mess. She was surprised when he told her to grab his hand, choosing to not do so. Gideon had reached his hand out and made his comment. "I'm not worried about you trying to hurt me." She corrected him, listening to him explain who exactly he was before being told to be quiet. She sighed, still not taking his hand but it seemed her effort to avoid touching his hand was earned by him grabbing a hold of hers.
She was about to snap at him before the guys from before had ran passed them. Well that was perfect timing.... She thought to herself before being reminded of what she planned to do prior to them running past them. Gideon had let go of her hand, but she wasn't done with him just yet. "First off, thirty minutes isn't that long, second I still showed up and searched for you...." She pauses, deciding she isn't going to volunteer the fact she had looked for over a hour, the last she wanted was for him to thing she was clingy. "I have a job, it is very easily to loose track of time." She added, still thinking that fabric shopping would be fun. Oh wait... he ended up being who I was supposed to get at the airport.... I'll have to ditch him first.
"Say I have an idea, how about we get you a place to stay for the night.... I have work to do but I think you could use the rest, you seem..." She places her finger against her lips. "Tired out from your long day." There was a small smile on her face when she made the comment. She wouldn't lie, Gideon was handsome but the longer she stayed around him the longer she'd want to be around him and she couldn't have any of that, now could she?
this was going to be pure torture. first of all he was already breaking so many rules. it wasn't like him to talk so informally. especially to people he was suppose to be taking care of. that was highly unprofessional of him. he couldn't help it. the girl just irritated him. she gave him a bad first impression. how awful would it be to have to resign on your first day. he would never hear the end of it.
though he wasn't the type to be a quitter. he would have to suck it up. he's dealt with worse. she continued to talk. saying she wasn't afraid of him. he should of covered her mouth instead of grabbing her hand. though she seemed to have pulled through. the men ran by them and continued to do so. hopefully they hadn't planned on coming back to the park.
and then the talking commenced. he stared at her blankly completely annoyed she was telling him off. clearly. he thought to himself as he mentioned she had a job. good to know you don't just sit around or spend all your time shopping.
he shook his head."my understanding was that i would be a live in bodyguard. your parents said housing wouldn't be a problem as you have enough room?"that was the last thing he needed. not that finding a decent hotel around here would be a problem."i'm fine. i slept for most of the flight."he wouldn't admit to feeling hungry either.
"i'll just tag along until you go home."he told her with a grin.
Demetria had mentioned that they should find him a place to stay for the night, she was surprised to hear his answer. Her face went a slight pink as she thought about her parents for a moment, they were strict but they had moments when they could be so embarrassing. They know that I have space in my apartment for him and offered it without talking to me first.... Ditching him is going to be harder than I thought.... She sighed, not quite disappointed but at the same time still slightly embarrassed at the thought of having a guy, somebody her parents hired to protect her, to be living in the same apartment as her. "Yeah I have enough room." She answered, trying to figure out which of her three rooms she would be giving to him to sleep in. As if to give herself some privacy to not feel flustered anymore she had suggested for him to rest up while she went shopping.
Gideon claimed that he was fine, though she couldn't help but doubt it. That grin on his face when he claimed that he'd be tagging along made her uneasy, first she couldn't avoid being flustered and now it was going to become impossible to calm down from it. "Alright, fine. You can come..." She answered after a few minutes, if she couldn't ditch him, she would get him bored with her shopping. The guy had a suitcase with him, so she reached out to grab it for him. "Lets be quick about this." She wasn't going to let him use her speed plus him having to drag around a suitcase be an excuse for not being able to keep up with her. The sooner I get the fabric the sooner I can go home.... She walked into the first fabric store, taking a few minutes looking over the different fabrics to see if any of them would work for her design, finally finding one that she liked she bought it and headed out of the store. "Time to head home." If she had known he was hungry, she would have gotten him something to eat.
he looked at her. did she know that he was going to stay with her? as far as he knew her parents said everything was taken care of. the last thing he needed was to end up having to find his own place to stay. especially one that was close enough to where she lived. she hadn't said anything for a while now. he was going to ask her if she was alright when she finally responded."wonderful."he said without smiling. the more time he spent with her, the more he felt like he was going to be more like a live in nanny.
even if she would of said no he would of tried to follow her. again its not like he knew the way to her apartment. though he did have her address in her file. he could just hail a tax and give them the address. maybe he should of left her to do her shopping. once they started walking gideon made sure to pay attention to street signs.
she had grabbed his suitcase and almost went back to get it, but he figured it was the least thing she could do for being late to pick him up at the airport and of course for making him clean up her mess with those guys. sure he hadn't had to physically deal with them, but he still had to deal with it.
he didn't say a word as they walked around from place to place. he wondered if she had anything to eat at home. he had some cooking ability. to be honest this was his first time dealing with vampires. he was like everyone else. believing they didn't exist. of course he would know nothing about them. he was for sure not going to believe what he read in a fictional book. did they even eat, if they consumed blood? so many questions running through his head and she spoke and interrupted his thoughts."good, lead the way."he told her completely bored and hungry.
Demetria was glad that he seemed to accept her answer, the last thing she wanted was to have to explain her reason for being confused from earlier. I can't believe they didn't mention it to me.... Oh well. She wasn't going to bring it up to them, it really didn't matter. Once I show him to my apartment, that will be the last time he follows me around.... She thought to herself as she went back for his suitcase. She would have gone into the store after leaving it with him, seeing as she didn't want him blaming her if he lost it. When she was done shopping she waved down a taxi for them to get in before telling the taxi to drive them at home. She paid the driver and got out to unlock the door, having left Gideon to put her bags in her room before going into one of the guests room to empty the fabrics from one room to the other one so that he could have this room all to himself.
She exited the bedroom to grab fresh sheets before making the bed and placing a blanket on top of it. Clearly she hadn't expected having any guests over else the room would have been already before he came into town. She walked out of the room, "Hopefully this will do." She answered, glad that it was fairly clean because she hated having possible dust build up. The window was painted black to avoid letting sunlight in, "I can't stand sunlight but if your okay with the window being open you can get it that way, or I'll just pay for them to get replaced." She couldn't help but think to herself, But if I do, I'll never go in that room. Because wearing sunscreen to avoid the sun was annoying. She moved into the kitchen, she knew that she had animal blood in a bottle but she wasn't sure if she had any food left in the kitchen or not because she rarely ever ate.
I should have gone shopping.... She rubbed her forehead just above the bridge of her nose as if she had a headache. Oh forget it, if he needs food I can order take out. She left the kitchen and headed into her room to put her fabric in the appropriate spots in her room.
a small yawn escaped his lips. he tried his best to hide it as much as he could. it wasn't that he was bored. not that fabric shopping would pique his interest. he could of found ways to keep himself entertained. he was also tired, but he was thankful that she took her time and he had eventually found a place to sit. eventually she completed her shopping and while she had been carrying his suitcase at one point. it was now his job to carry all the bags.
he loaded them up in the taxi's trunk and they were on their way to her residence. she paid the driver while he got the bags. he looked around the surrounding area till she started walking towards her home. he followed behind and kept quiet. after dropping off the fabric in her room. which he was surprised she let him in. of course it wasn't like she wasn't standing right there. all he had left was his suitcase. he followed her once more and at last it was his room. he was wondering why the rooms were so dark. it was going to take some time getting used to."i'll live."he said with a grin.
it wasn't long before she left him alone in the room. he set his suitcase on the bed and figured he should at least get his toiletries. the room was furnished, but he didn't want to unpack at the moment. his stomach started growling at him. setting the suitcase by the side of his bed. he figured it was better to get some food in his belly. he explored the rooms alongside his. taking mental notes as to what each room was and such. eventually he found himself in the living room. the kitchen was probably not to far."if its alright with you. im probably going to order pizza or something."he told her as he took out his phone."do you eat food? sorry you're the first vampire i've dealt with."
Demetria shrugged her shoulders at his comment, it was his choice on keeping the window the way it was or not. She heard his comment about food, "That is fine." She wasn't going to argue with him about it. I really should have bought food for him to eat but I wasn't aware that he was going to be staying here. Lesson learned for the near future... She thought to herself, being pulled from her thoughts to hear his other comment. "If your asking if vampires have to eat or not, the answer is yes." She answered him, having paused for a moment, "But I rarely do so." It wasn't the fact that she didn't like food, she just failed at keeping a decent schedule when it came to meal times.
Always caught up in her work to focus on the last time she had gone shopping, though drinking blood sometimes encouraged her to eat something but it really depends on what project she was working on at the time that she chose to leave her room. I can't remember the last time that I ate a decent meal... She seemed to ponder over the thought, unable to keep herself from wondering if her parents had figured it out or not. "Don't let that stop you from ordering though." She added, hoping that he wouldn't point out that she had flat out admitted earlier that she sucked at eating on time. I should get back to work, I'll let him pay this time around after all. She moved back into her room, knowing her stomach would likely make a noise of being hungry sooner or later and she was hoping that he wouldn't hear it, out of embarrassment of needing him to watch out for her.
gideon had been on his phone while she talked. he was pretending he didn't hear her or at least act like he wasn't interested in what she had to say. he heard her, well most of what she had said about eating and not having a set schedule. three meals a day with two snacks. that's how it was for gideon. or at least he tried to. if he skipped breakfast he would have a large lunch and a something small for dinner. he looked at her while she started to leave."hey what's the address? im getting a pizza delivered."he told her as he waited for her response.
It didn't seem like Gideon was paying any attention to her when she talked with him, though he had his reasons since he was on the phone, so she had turned her back to him to head into her room just for him to ask her what the address is. She turned around, giving him the face expression, 'are you serious', before walking over to him and snatching the phone out of his hand to tell the person taking the order her address before handing it back over to Gideon. "Anything else?" She asked, but instead of waiting for his answer she went back into her bedroom anyway. I need to get these designs done, I have a deadline.... She thought to herself before making her way over to her desk to get started. It was always like this, work came first and everything else came second. One had to wonder if she purposely forget to eat her meals or if she did it on accident because work was just so distracting for her, regardless, she never seemed to be paying attention to the time. So even if the door bell had rang, it wouldn't be guaranteed that she would take notice of it.
