hendrix mccormick tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance Unimpressively standing at a 5’6” height with a light weight body, few people bat an eye at Hendrix McCormick. The young man lacks muscle, except for a subtle hint maintained through meagre book carrying and sorting. This leaves him with a flat stomach, however, this is extremely lacking and he could risk being overpowered. The slender, willowy nature of his limbs provides Hendrix a gracefulness to his appearance. His slim long legs suggest the grace of a dancer, alas, Hendrix is renowned for his clumsiness. Easily, Hendrix can trip over his own two feet, toppling to the ground without hesitation. Due to these instances of clumsiness, Hendrix frequently has bruises because of his spills. Matching his frame are gracefully long “piano players” fingers. The complexion of Hendrix’s face is rather pale, the young man spending his time inside, distracted by books. Thick, curly locks of hair covers his head, oftentimes messy because of the curly, wavy nature of his hair. Those short locks of a curly mess are known for extremely soft, many enjoying their plush texture. Styling is non-existent with Hendrix’s hair, it being nape-length, although, is notably longer in the back. His hair is navy-coloured, with lighter streaks of blue painting the left side of his hair. Partially hidden by the thick locks of unruly hair are cheekbones considered a tad high with plumpish, well-filled cheeks. Those softened cheeks lead down to a stronger jaw followed by a slightly rounded chin. A petite nose pokes out from his face, softly curved and subtly upturned. A pair of almond coloured eyes hide beneath a pair of black, thick-rimmed glasses. These glasses have thick lenses, Hendrix being practically blind without the use of his glasses. Reserved in clothing, Hendrix is renowned for wearing thick sweaters and long sleeved shirts. The notion of people viewing his thin body always leaving an awkward impression on the young man. He adores wearing turtlenecks, blazers and jackets. Rarely, Hendrix considers wearing shorts, rather, he wears sweatpants or jeans. If the weather is extremely hot, Hendrix will consider wearing a t-shirt opposed to a long-sleeved shirt. Oftentimes, people can find Hendrix curled up with a book. personality
abilities Telekinesis -- Advanced The ability to pick up powers with one’s mind, allowing the user to move them. As a clumsier man, Hendrix trained his telekinesis in order to rescue the unfortunate breakable items under his care. If he knocks something fron a table, accessing his telekinesis to rescue it will increase the likelihood of saving it. Furthermore, in order to save time and avoid tripping, Hendrix uses his telekinesis to fetch items and bring them towards him. Mundane uses for telekinesis is about the extent of Hendrix’s capability, the young seer even being able of carrying heavier objects with higher focus. Due to Hendrix’s caution, he lacks capability in speeding the objects, therefore throwing things far is out of the option. Extensive use of his telekinesis can result in Hendrix receiving headaches that are often light sensitive. Seance -- Advanced The ability to summon a dead spirit, allowing for communication. An admirer of history and man of many curiosities, Hendrix trained his seance religiously in order to assure the possibility of learning everything he can about his favoured topic, history. Occasionally, he attempts to summon historical figures, however, his ability is best focused on summoning people Hendrix knows personally. These figures can easily decline the opportunity to speak with Hendrix, although, he continues to attempt in hopes of learning more. While summoned, the dead spirit cannot be touched, but can effect the environment through telekinesis. This can lead to moments of danger where items get thrown. While Hendrix can forcefully close the communication, this takes more energy then a mutual agreement to end it. Should Hendrix be knocked out, the gate automatically closes and leaves Hendrix exhausted for days. Telepathy -- Advanced The ability to communicate with someone through mental thoughts. More practiced out of curiosity, Hendrix enjoys playing around with his telepathy. When he was a child, the ability was enjoyable to send secret messages to his parents. The older he got, the more practical the ability became. With plenty of his abilities leaving him sick with a headache, sending a telepathic message to someone rather than shout became easier. Regularly, he uses this ability to communicate with his dormmate or as a useful method to keep the library silent. Those with a psychic shield can avoid the effects of Hendrix’s telepathy. Not to mention, his telepathy has a limited range before it becomes wonky and staticy like a cellphone in a poor signal area. Psychometry -- Mastered The ability to witness the history of an object, person or place, allowing the user to discover new findings. As an individual craving the knowledge of history, Hendrix trained his psychometry to learn more about the world. He adores reading opposed to using his psychometry, however, in times where there is no knowledge about something, psychometry comes in handy. While this ability is used, Hendrix can sift through information, finding sections of the timeline. However, curses can result in issues and even injure him should it be protecting against a delve into an object, person or place’s history. Charms, psychic shields and other forms of mental protection can also keep Hendrix’s power from operating. For most places, wards at certain times can leave blackouts in his overview of a place’s history. In the situation of people, Hendrix usually has to get permission to delve into someone’s history and see what they see. Overuse of his psychometry can result in headaches and occasionally nosebleeds. When his energy is drained from its use, Hendrix does require time to sleep and will be unable to use it for approximately two days. Anything or anyone with an extensive history drains him instantly. Future Sight -- Beginner The ability to catch a glimpse of the future, allowing the user a chance to know a future possibility. Gazing into the eyes of the future has always boggled Hendrix’s mind, however, maintaining control of it is impossible. Rather, he never decides when he is viewing the future and it comes when it likes for approximately 5-10 seconds. This results in limited information being gathered when his future sight randomly arrives. During these 5-10 seconds, Hendrix stands still, staring blankly and is powerless. Furthermore, these only have a chance to happen rather than anything certain. Natural: Mind Control Immunity, Enhanced Memory backstory Little could be stated about the early years of Hendrix John McCormick. Born to a pair of well-known business owners in a small Newfoundland town, he lived fairly well-off. His family owned a sizable home and his parents showered him with endless love from a young age. They were the type of parents a child dreamed of. Willing to spoil, yet, still holding the sternness required to inflict values onto their children. As the oldest of 3, Hendrix was their first and most distractible child. From a young age, their son exhibited an innate interest in books. Through his childhood, he pleaded for his parents to educate him in the wondrous realm of words. Compared to his other skills, reading always proved a higher grade level for the young Hendrix McCormick and with words being remembered through his enhanced memory, he recalls them at the drop of a hat. Although, most intriguing about Hendrix’s parents were their passions for history and collecting of antiques and relics. In their rather large home, the basement housed a fair share of interesting curiosities bought by their father. He wished to repair them and learn their inner workings, often stating it a seer’s work to learn and treasure the past. Frequently, as he worked, Hendrix’s almond coloured eyes observed, dazzled by his father’s vast intellect and capability. Always, the young boy was fascinated by his father’s hobbies, resulting in him often paying his father attention. From there, things moved as natural as clockwork as Hendrix began investing time into the history books his father kept. Learning about the past simply became a passion of his from the young age of 8. The passion arrived in time to increase Hendrix’s intellect, yet, the distracted child received ramifications. Socially, he became a quiet child, fixating on the realm of words rather than the world around him. Rather than run through the schoolyard kicking a soccer ball, Hendrix spent his time, beneath a tree flipping through the pages of the recent comic book or full-blown novel. These were the activities that inspired happiness in Hendrix, the young boy occasionally getting into minor trouble for failing to hear the school bell calling them inside. Although, the nature of his attitude and his father’s hobbies made Hendrix’s childhood uneventful at best. There were few things he wanted, and with his parent’s wealth, he regularly received them. Their life was quaint and quiet with few problems surfacing. Through these years, Hendrix struggled plenty with forging long-lasting relationships. Those connections hardly manifested as the young boy exhibited interests in nerdier hobbies and even became loud and overly talkative about them and thus, Hendrix found himself alone. Upon his entrance into high school, teachers began insisting on the discovering of favoured jobs among their use. Long influenced by his father’s hobbies and adoring of the history books lining the shelves of their home, Hendrix already had thoughts in mind. He idolized his father, wishing to do something similar to his work while placing his own spin onto it. The teen began researching occupations and eventually created a short list to debate upon. The possibilities of being a historian at a museum or potentially a history teacher would reach the top of his list. Thus, Hendrix became fixated in his attempts to join a history-oriented occupation. Plenty of history classes were taken with Hendrix constantly digging to pick more obscure events for papers to display a savviness for searching. The young son of the McCormicks knew what he wanted and as he began investigating into colleges, one tickled his fancy. The dangers of Lorsette could be considered a historic event, therefore, as Hendrix survived through high school he informed his parents of his preferred school. They were surprised, expressing their concerns about Hendrix attending a school in a dangerous location. Alas, their son wished to attend Lorsette College. The final years of high school were spent creating memories and happiness with his family. They were the loving type and the notion of their eldest child leaving for college shortly was a saddening thought. Together, they went on miniature vacations and nature walks. Alas, with time ticking down, they all recognized the time would arrive for Hendrix to pack up and leave for his college dorm. He remembered the day he began packing, placing things safely in boxes and excitement roaming his veins. How his parents entered, eyes a little misty as they told him how much they would miss him... The young man smiled and he remembered how the three hugged, his parents giving support and Hendrix promised to come home every summer. Days later, Hendrix headed to college, prepared to start delving into his history classes. He began majoring in history, enjoying his classes while keeping them well-rounded. To fund his stay in Lorsette, he began working part time as a librarian. Frequently, he would take the summers off from his job to visit his parents. Yet, despite the separation, young Hendrix finds himself happy about his attendance in Lorsette College. misc - Likes: History, family values, reading, superheroes, comic books, manga, video games, learning, researching, writing, warm blankets, danishes, apples, cooking, figurines, winter, hot chocolate, sledding, snuggling, quiet, serene noises, campfires - Dislikes: Swimming, change rooms, peppermints, spicy food, teen romance novels, book cliches, alcohol, partying, heat, loud noises, gorey movies, terrors, the Assembly, pumpkin spice, lazy game design - Fears: Death, the Assembly, terrors, bullies, confrontation - Hendrix is weak against heat.
