Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!

[attr="class","plotbg"] Shib is anxious... it's his first time sitting away from his usual spot during lunch but he had made plans with one of his fellow classmates to meet up and discuss the project they had been assigned. It wasn't a grueling one like for one of his tedious classes such as history or math but still! Working together with someone he was only vaguely familiar through the small interactions that went on in the classroom was nerve wracking. He set his plastic tray down in front of her, taking the seat directly across from the female. His eyes were glued to the purple tray as a result of being extremely nervous about having to step out of the personal comfort bubble he had grown so used to. [break][break] "H..hello..." His eyes pull away from the tray to glance up at the female with short brown hair. She had a soft looking gaze but Shib could never be too sure. He's heard his fair share of horror stories about how some of the nicest people were the exact opposite. Due to the intensity of emotions running throughout Shib, his eyes go from their natural yellow into a darker blue. "You wanted to um... meet to talk about o-our project, right?"[break][break] His hand moved to grab one of his plastic wrapped sandwiches as a means to focus on something other than what words he should say. "We have to make something together s..so..."
Humming lightly under her breath, she pokes today’s food with her plastic fork. She glanced up as someone sat across from her, a bright smile flitting over her face. It was her assigned project partner, probably come to talk about their project! Holly had been hopeful about this one, as she has been meaning to make more friends lately.
”Hi!” Holly’s silvery eyes sparkled - she was truly happy to see the other joining her. Sometimes she was used to being on her lonesome, though she occasionally had others sit with her from time to time. Today had been shaping up to be a lonely day, well up until now. Something catches Holly’s eye though.....did his eyes just change color?! ”Yep.”
No, they really had and that was really cool. ”Yeah...hmm...” Holly pauses for a moment, thinking back to what she had considered doing. Holly was admittedly terrible at planning ahead, more or less the kind of student who flew by the seat of their pants, as it were. ”Well, is there .... any preference or something you really like?” Holly is genuinely curious, as she didn’t know much about him yet.

[attr="class","plotbg"] Shib wasn't much of a planner either. He typicially just went with the flow of things and whatever hit him in the moment is what he would attempt to do. He meekly bites into his sandwich as he listened quietly to what she had to say. She had a nicer aura than Shib was bracing for... and that greeting! It made her sound really nice... perhaps it was okay for the male to let his guard down? She didn't seem like a bad person and it wasn't fair of him to make such assumptions![break][break] He set his sandwich down back onto the wrapping it came from as he nodded his head slowly. What was something they could do? "I don't exactly have a preference but um... well.. " He slowly leans forward as his hand grasped onto a strawberry from his fruit container. "I kinda wanna try... painting something! Like... like maybe we could try drawing a sketch of something.. and then paint it in together? I don't know what we could draw but... um... I was hoping I'd get your input on that."[break][break] He liked indulging in arts so this class was pretty fun! Although group projects were always a little nerve wracking. "I-... well, forgot to say my name is Shib but... we are in a class together- so you actually might've... known that already, hahaha!" He feels embarrassed by just how awkward he was. Of course she knew his name! The teacher did tell her who she was working with after all.[break][break]
Holly admittedly often put everything but the fun stuff on the backburner, which was likely a bad habit to get into. It lead to her needing to be pushed to complete her homework at times, often avoiding subjects she found hard or boring at times. She wasn’t really doing it to be bad really, just found tedious things unpleasant. Now that Shib was here though, things were brighter! How else would they have planned anything? Surely she would come to know him better now, at least a little.
His head nodded at her question, and her eyes sparkles hopefully. What kind of idea did he have in store? She knew that sometimes her own bright exuberance had a tendency to intimidate or dazzle others, but she couldn’t always hide her excitement. Painting huh? That sounded really fun! ”That sounds really fun! What if we tried a landscape...? Oh, hmm, that might a little too normal? Unless we did like a scene from a move or something...”
She blinked and smiled, not really judging him for that. ”I’m Holly, though I think I mighta said that already too. Well, now you know for sure!” Her tone is cheerful, and she seemed free of anxiety or judgement. She was honestly just having a nice time talking about their project, and spending time with a classmate she didn’t know as well. Little things like this, they really made the world turn.

[attr="class","plotbg"] He munched on the strawberry in hand silently as her cheerful voice filled her ears. Her exuberant energy was infectious, finding it hard to not get motivated by such a bright demeanor. It had an effect on him to where signs of energy appeared out of nowhere bubble up from within Shib. He feels happy because he suggested something good? Judging by how her response had her excitably discussing the possibilities of what they could've paint. She offered nice concepts too! His head shakes immediately upon hearing the word normal part from her lips. "I don't think that's bad! I mean, landscapes are really pretty, you know?! I know like going for walks so I've seen a lot of pretty sights!" It wasn't needed but he did feel like reassurance on that idea was needed. "A scene from a movie? That would be really fun! Especially if we try to paint it in a famous style or something!"[break][break]
Shib can't help crack a small laugh. It was comforting to know that he wasn't alone in accidentally introducing himself when the both of them didn't need to do so. They were classmates... definitely well acquainted and yet this whole interaction was fulfilling for the chameleon. "Mhm! I know for sure now! Both of us are certain actually." Shib nods his heads a few times before his eyes glanced down to his fruits. "Say Holly... would you like some strawberries?" He felt the nerves easing up as he gently pushed forward his container. "They're really good!"
She easily offered up what had come to mind instantly, though they didn’t have to end up settling on it unless the idea was liked well enough. She perked up again at his words, her confidence soaring. He really didn’t mind? ”That’s what I was thinking. And even places you’ve been to a million times before look different when the season changes! A place looks different in winter than it does in spring!” Spring was more bright and cheerful, and winter was a monochrome wonderland. Summer was sunshine and rainstorms, fall a culmination of russet leaves and orange pumpkins.
”Mhm! We could do almost anything!” Her voice was brimming with energy, overflowing with excitement like a tap left unattended. In her own right perhaps she was a bit like spring, bright and full of possibilities. Pure and full of different shades of feeling, mixing together to form her own unique palette. Would she become a new friend like she so desperately hoped? She really hoped so, she wanted more friends.
She is hopeful, things were looking good. So far, she hadn’t been too bubbly to handle. Sometimes she was merely brushed aside, or called out as annoying. A blissful smile tugged over her lips as she nodded, amused but happy. Yup.” She tilted her head a little, as he offered the strawberries. ”Sure, I’ll try one.” She glanced at her own food for a moment, looking for something to offer as well but nothing really seemed interesting. Delicately plucking a single strawberry, she took a bite. ”Oh ... this is good.”

[attr="class","plotbg"]The chameleon's head nodded enthusiastically. "You get me completely!" Shib felt every word she had been exclaiming. Seasons had such an effect on how he interpreted scenic views he'd come to know from how long he had been living here for but with each new season did small changes that were unlike what he was used to happen. Breathtaking sights like that always were the most intriguing and beautiful to the young teenager. "I think we'll work together really nice, Holly!" Getting started on this class assignment had been only something Shib was further looking too more and more they got into their discussion.[break][break]
He swayed in place upon hearing her agreement and watching her take a bite out of the strawberry. He always came with an abundance of fruit each and everyday since having fruit amongst all of the other things he ate always put a spring in his step. "Right?! Aren't they gooood? I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish them so feel free to eat them with me, okay?" Shib grins widely- hands moving to pluck a strawberry for himself. "But... but I'm glad you're as excited for this project as I am. I was kinda nervous i'd get stuck with someone that was hard to work with." [break][break]
Shib sighed in relief as his smile only grew. "You're the furthest from that! So... I think maybe, we should go for a landscape but we could try to do like.... how about we did a landscape that gradually had the season changing in sections? So one spot would be summer, another spring, autumn, and winter!!!" He knew it'd be a challenge but given how both of them were chiming in perhaps she'd be game? "What do you think?" All Shib was capable of in this moment was hoping he came up with a cool idea and not one that would make her unhappy or overwhelmed either! Art was supposed to fun... and he wanted to do just that with her.[break][break]
