Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Momentarily, a flash of apparent scrutiny crossed Alida's face, the same scrutiny she'd displayed a few times prior this evening but Alfonse wasn't able to catch it long enough to fully grasp that she may have been bothered by his choice of response. Her broadening smile matched with a casual pleased acceptance of his own reciprocated interest made it difficult for him to have seen whatever may have dwelt on her mind before. Her optimistic answer was enough to prevent Alfonse from wondering more about it. He, instead, felt relief that they were starting to stand on a better foot with one another and the two of them now had someone to stay near in the midst of a rather intimidating event.
A-at least, he thought tonight was intimidating... he was uncertain of what Alida exactly felt towards the theme of this gathering, but based on what she said before, he felt her own thoughts weren't too opposite of his.
While relieved in his new-found companionship, Alfonse wasn't entirely at ease with the situation as a whole but enough to feel not quite as unnerved about entering the study. The sincerity of a smile sustained as Alida gave a subtle laugh, although it turned a little more uncertain as she went on to mention her wondering of how long the other youth had been waiting on them. While Alfonse was worried about the possibility of them immediately turning their heads and blatantly mentioning that they were, in fact, running a little off course of time, the girl beside him seemed more so amused by the idea.
“I imagine they’re so impatient to get this Secret Santa thing on the way.”
Alfonse's relaxation from their affirmed friendly comradery didn't last and he attempted a chuckle that came out sounding just as nervous as he felt, "A-ah, y-yeah, maybe...!" He tried to disguise his nerves by balancing his emotions with Alida's, wanting to not seem strung out and 'blend in' more... but his attempt failed miserably. Now he was even more aware of how much more confident she was about going in than he was. He hoped that would help him get a grip of his conflicting emotions and nerves better once they got inside. "A-all right, let's head inside..." He decided with a vanishing smile upon turning to look away from her. He barely had his foot in through the door, the warmth of the fireplace having spread enough to embrace them with a welcoming hug, when just as he'd feared what felt like multiple heads gradually turned to look their direction.
With one dark-haired boy remaining in the corner, isolated from the rest with a book busying himself, the others were closer to the center of the room and thus able to spot the newly entering teens without much trouble. Lydia had been seated on the centered larger sofa cushion with two other girls on either side of her while the group of boys had separated and scattered about with Troy awkwardly hovering around the Christmas tree and eyeing all the presents laying underneath the green prickly branches. He was barely surviving the long wait and was ready to burn through the presents now, which was evident on the impatience radiating across his face.
Curiosity shown from the girl who was the first to see the two new guests, murmuring something to Lydia who uplifted her gaze from her glass of sparkling cider and was met with the sight of a white-winged angel-- her grandmother's current primary interest- and a less nervous looking girl whom which... she didn't recognize. Nonetheless, Lydia arose from her seat with proper manners to greet the two, showing a lady-like smile their way. "There you are! We have been wondering where you went, but we wouldn't dare start without all of us present," She told them with a pleasant voice, not allowing either one of them time to step in and ground themselves in their newly entered room before addressing them. It nearly startled Alfonse to have been immediately spoken at by her, causing him to freeze in place just inside the room as she went on to ask with raising fine-arched brows, "You do know that's what we're doing tonight, don't you? The Secret Santa gift exchange?"
So tell me the sin of the angel with dirtied wings and how she was tainted by the tastes of the wicked. And how is it then that she can still fly on those
NOTE: I enjoyed you implementing Lydia and the rest of the kids! I might bring in Ivory (Alida's NPC) in the next post or the one after that, too! ♥
It didn’t go unnoticed by Alida how Alfonse attempted a light-hearted chuckle and struggled to come off as calm and relaxed. However, seconds in and it all began to crumble into some sort of jittery blob of nerves. Still, with a strained smile, and a mutely terrified expression, he accepted his demise and bravely agreed to enter the dreaded study! Of course, Alida wasn’t even half as nervous as the poor white-feathered boy, and seeing him so distressed actually made her feel bad. Wow.
When the two of them stepped into the Rosevier manor’s study, the welcoming heat of the fireplace was the first thing to greet Alida’s somewhat chilled body, that and the obvious fact that they became the center of the youth’s attention. In fact a tall girl with ginger hair, the same ginger that Alfonse wore as well as another boy in the room, rose from one of the couches to greet them.
“There you are! We have been wondering where you went, but we wouldn’t dare start without all of us present.” Despite her words, Alida noted the way the girl’s attention had riveted only on Alfonse and all but excluded her completely. However, when the girl spoke up practically making some sort of ‘secret jab’ at Alfonse, questioning him over knowing something that was obvious common knowledge, Alida couldn’t help but snort.
“Uh, yeah,” Alida answered her with a dismissive wave and then laughed as she sassily told her in a joking manner, “Obvious is obviously obvious.”
She did turn her attention to everyone in the room, then, and apologized. “Sorry for the wait guys. So, what’s happening? Are we doing the gift exchange right away? Whose in charge anyway?”
The immediate spotlight honing over them had caught Alfonse by an overwhelming heat of even greater nervousness than before. Several eyes continued scorching in the direction of which he and Alida stood, and Lydia's own previous welcoming disposition somewhat grew milder from the newly entered girl's sassy response. Her joking “Obvious is obviously obvious,” caused the left corner of Lydia's smile to tilt upward, and for Troy whom was loitering around the Christmas tree with anticipation to glance over in their direction. Her joke didn't appear to be received with the same teasing jester or high-spirits... nor did it arise much of a response, either. Alfonse, however, did feel guilty and awkward from his cousin's questioning reminder of them knowing that the night needed to move onward to the next event...
It arose a dispirited glint roaming across Alfonse's demeanor, lacking even more confidence than before in his gaze. E-everyone... must have, in reality, been waiting... on them, and walking in on everyone sitting about the study... not looking particularly occupied by anything... embarrassed Alfonse, now that it'd been brought more so to his attention that by being late they'd held up the night.
He tried to force the same friendly smile he'd tried to display earlier this evening, when meeting few of the abrasive encounters he had. However, the humiliated warmth in his face and discomfort being surrounded by so many youth... a-all at once... and having made a rude impression on them already, rendered Alfonse's gaze unsteady and falling down to the flooring. From the corner of his eyes, he could see a couple of the other boys eyeing him up and down, which further made him... fearful of actually making direct eye contact with anyone. He stepped into the room a little further, also to provide Alida with more space in case she herself wanted to venture closer to where the others lounged, but he didn't stray far from Alida's side in the least. H-he didn't... know where to go... o-or where to seat himself... and felt all-around incredibly uneasy and uncertain.
“Sorry for the wait guys. So, what’s happening? Are we doing the gift exchange right away? Whose in charge anyway?”
He apologetically nodded a little when Alida herself apologized for waiting, and tried bringing himself to look up at the the other faces surrounding them. Her assertiveness more or less spoke for him, and he was silently thankful... that Alida was able to carry the conversation onward for them. While Alfonse's quiet disposition attracted unwanted attention, Alida's own more confident and outgoing attitude belatedly attracted more attention her way, particularly from Lydia who sustained her dominance over the other youth by keeping her stance implemented by responding promptly. "That would be me," She stated, the hint of a smirk hidden in her smile left her face, allowing for a blossoming smile to beam without taint, "The gift exchange is ready to proceed once you make yourselves comfortable by finding a seat. First, though..." Approaching both Alida and Alfonse, Lydia's height grew among them, standing even taller than Alfonse at a precise 5"10 heightened by the cliff of her high heels.
"You look unfamiliar. This must be your first time here, much like my cousin whom you already seem acquainted with," She extended a hand outward to Alida to make official their introduction, "I'm Lydia. Over there is my brother, Troy," Alfonse, unintentionally, lifted his eyes in the direction where Troy stood by the tree. The resemblance between he and Lydia was apparent... they both had a similar pale ginger shade of hair, and both had a tall frame. It did make him feel isolated from his mother's side of the family... that they hadn't spoken once this night, and the longest interaction he had was now... a-and they weren't even talking. Troy happened to glance over when Alfonse's attention averted his way and he gave them a small wave. "Hey..." He murmured, shyly avoiding looking for long and stepped around the furniture towards the coffee table where the slips of paper and hat awaited. One of the boys, lighter in hair color, quietly groaned to himself as he leaned back in the loveseat he currently occupied when Troy happened to pass by.
TAGS : Alida Honora --- mentioned: n/a --- NOTES: Okay!! Bring her whenever you'd like to, I'm looking forward to seeing her! ^^
So tell me the sin of the angel with dirtied wings and how she was tainted by the tastes of the wicked. And how is it then that she can still fly on those
“That would be me,” The ginger haired female spoke up to her question and brought her full attention onto Alida. “The gift exchange is ready to proceed once you make yourselves comfortable by finding a seat. First, though…”
Alida had brought her mahogany gaze to the girl, and as she made her way over she began to take in the resemblance of her and wing boy. It made her wonder if she was related but also if she was apart heaven species. Considering the circumstances of the gala, more specifically how everyone and their mother were obsessed with Alfonse’s wings, she felt confident in her assumption that he was the only angel present. Understandably, such thoughts also caused her to reflect upon herself, but nothing but damaging thoughts lingered there and she was quick to banish them before they could even pierce the surface.
“You look unfamiliar,” The girl had now closed the distance between them and her. Alida surmised rather quickly, by the way she carried herself, the atmosphere surrounding her, and the words she had spoken thus far, that she was the leader of the youth tonight. “This must be your first time here, much like my cousin whom you already seemed acquainted with.”
“I’m Lydia,” When her hand was extended to her, Alida graciously accepted it and gave it a firm, vigorous shake. “Over there is my brother, Troy.”
“Cool, nice to meet you,” Alida responded without much thought or hesitation, withdrawing her hand afterward before looking to Troy who appeared to show similar signs of Alfonse’s shyness. Bringing her attention to Lydia once more she added, “Yep, you got me. I’m brand spanking new here. —Er, niece of the Norwoods.” She nodded toward a silver haired girl, her “cousin” Ivory, who turned a soft shade of pink at the association but managed a meek wave of her hand.
An offering of a handshake was received with the same utmost confidence Alida walked through the doors with. Firm and vigorous, Lydia's own hold on the girl's hand strengthened upon being met with the other girl's own firmer grasp, and released her palm when it felt appropriate to do so. She didn't receive a name in return from the girl.... and Lydia observed how the blonde was more so casual in mannerisms. Her articulation of words didn't match how others were expected to behave at a gala... that alone was enough for Lydia to see the obvious that this girl was, indeed, new here.
When the blonde revealed how she was intertwined with the Norwood family, it dawned upon Lydia how this girl was invited to tonight and it sparked a light within her pleasantly smiling exterior, "Oh, you're related to Ivory! A pleasure to finally meet you," She turned her head to look in Ivory Norwood's direction, seeing the girl's pink blushed face and the docile little wave she sent their way, "I absolutely adore your cousin. I'm glad you were able to join her, and the rest of us for the Secret Santa,"
Alfonse's nerves didn't settle and remained dominating him in a cloud of anxiety, continuing to create social obstacles that further held him behind. A murmur begun to arise between two conversing boys, one of which happened to be the same individual Alfonse had caught scanning him over, but he avoided looking up their direction... instead, he brought his beige eyes to look over at Alida's family member, Ivory. He returned her wave with one of his own, gently smiling through the warmth of his shy expression. "You too, Alfonse. I hope the night hasn't been too overwhelming for you," Lydia spoke up, bringing her attention back onto her cousin. Alfonse somewhat shifted in place as he once more drew his gaze back over to his tall cousin... her self-assured disposition had an unspoken authority to it.
Had his mind not already been busy with absorbing their surroundings and silently going over the way he needed to compose himself, he may have felt intimidated by the aura that surrounded her. His shoulders stiffened as he quickly tried to think of what to say in response to her direct comment towards him. Lydia's friendly demeanor she displayed didn't waver, her dark green eyes staring down at him... a-and he felt even more pressured, knowing better than to expect her comment to be of genuine wondering about what he thought of the event. With a hinting shake of his head, he decided upon an appropriate response... that wasn't a lie, but avoided admitting the intimate details of what he felt. "I-it's an honor being invited and welcomed here. I've appreciated having this opportunity to meet you, along with everyone else," He hesitantly decided on saying, cautious of what to speak around her and the other youth whose ears were open to the exchange. He quietly gulped, his smile threatening to falter on his embarrassingly warm face... that he hoped wasn't actually blushing.
"That's wonderful to hear. I'm certain our family and friends have similar sentiments," Lydia replied, closing the conversation with a swift turn to face the rest of the room, causing the bottom of his dress to float in a twist about her legs, "You two help yourselves to a glass of sparkling cider and find a seat! Anywhere will do. Then, we will begin with the festivities," Troy was eagerly standing by the table, looking as though he were awaiting to do something involving the assortment of paper and the red fluffy santa hat of which he took into his hand and was idly rolling the white puff of the hat's end with his fingers. A loud sigh escaped the light haired brunette boy seated just next to the coffee table, huffing out, "About time..."
So tell me the sin of the angel with dirtied wings and how she was tainted by the tastes of the wicked. And how is it then that she can still fly on those
Lydia’s expression lightened with recognition as she enthused, “Oh, you’re related to Ivory! A pleasure to finally meet you.” Hearing the insinuation that Ivory had spoken to Lydia about her, Alida unconsciously turned her attention back to Ivory, noting Lydia’s shift of gaze as well, and the girl’s next words further confirmed her thought, “I absolutely adore your cousin. I’m glad you were able to join her, and the rest of us for the Secret Santa.”
Alida stared off in the direction of Ivory for a prolonged moment as she recalled the light haired girl vanishing on her. Ivory wasn’t at all reliable despite the Norwood’s continued attempts to assign her the role of chaperone. Although Alida found it mildly annoying, she also understood Ivory was only sixteen years old and her constant ditching had never been meant as cruelty.
“You too, Alfonse.” Lydia’s voice broke through Alida’s thoughts, her gaze refocusing to immediately notice the look of avid interest and curiosity now transformed upon Ivory’s elegant features. Apparently, when Alfonse had turned his attention to her, the young shifter had turned pink with giddiness, waving to him in return. Now, Ivory’s ice blue gaze had locked onto her with expectation and wonder swirling within their depths. The sixteen year old had spoken rather whimsically of the white-winged Angel of the Rosevier’s and apparently had a very avid interest in him — but she already had a girlfriend, so that was kind of creepy.
“I-It’s an honor being invited and welcomed here,” Alfonse’s words drew Alida’s attention away from Ivory and over to him as he addressed Lydia. “I’ve appreciated having this opportunity to meet you, along with everyone else.” Alida slightly cringed as she thought about their meeting, and she felt a twinge of guilt again. Although, she visibly perked up when they were invited to a glass of sparkling cider, and looked to the white winged boy with a smile when they were more or less dismissed. “Do you want a glass?” She asked him casually as they passed the table together, and would reach over to grab him a glass in addition to her own if that were the case.
Looking around the room, Alida noticed Ivory moving to a separate couch that held two other vacant seats, and if that wasn’t the most transparent thing she had ever seen, she didn’t know what was. Glancing back to Alfonse, she motioned over toward her friend and the open seats. “Do you want to go sit next to my cousin?” She asked, a little sardonically, because Ivory wasn’t her cousin, and this charade was growing increasingly more annoying as the evening wore on. She grinned suddenly and jabbed her thumb in the opposite direction toward a couple of sofa chairs that had been left unoccupied for the moment. “Or over there?” She snorted, lowly, because she felt like she could see Ivory’s crestfallen expression out her peripheral vision. Yeah, sometimes she really was just an asshole wasn’t she…?
