Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Alida’s spirit had understandably taken a bit of a hit with the threat of high school ever looming on the horizon. After the Norwoods had helped her mother sign her into Lorsette High, she had been given the required reading assignment that she needed complete and turned in on the first day back. High school was not a pleasant reminder for Alida. In fact, she felt rather sullen with the idea of returning.
A heavy and dejected sigh left the female’s parted lips as she moodily stared down at the open book of Romeo and Juliet and the looseleaf paper residing beside it. Although she had been seated at the library for well over two hours, she had only managed two paragraphs of her essay. William Shakespeare's masterpiece, in Alida’s humble opinion, was so completely and utterly snooze worthy that it could quite literally bore her to death.
“Argh, what a load of terd pellets…,” She groaned in complaint and laid her head down onto the tabletop. She outstretched both of her arms before her and arched to stretch the sore ache in her back. “I hate this book. Hate, hate, hate it… ugh...” Another heavy sigh left her as she turned to face the right and kept her cheek pressed into the tabletop.
Ironically, Nicolas came to the local library with his two fathers and they had been a handful on their own. The two ended up making out in one of the back shelving areas and then taking off back home to finish what they started. Most would cringe at the behaviour and the teen held some contempt for it, but he was mostly used to it by now. It actually reminded him of how things had been so distant between them for years...only for them to suddenly bounce back into loving each other...
Humans weren't the same as demons that stopped the ageing process. People rarely renewed broken relationships, but he supposed that was because of their limited time. He couldn't imagine only living less than a hundred years. Their time seemed so fleeting but he also couldn't imagine living forever...
Pain...was the reason that came to mind..but he didn't let his mind wander anymore on that subject. Instead he removed himself from the table he had been sitting at to go find some more books pertaining to his school assignment. Kenneth had wanted to work with him on his assignment...something about experiencing teenage-hood again and even dragged Volac with him. But in the end he had changed his mind and done his own thing...as per usual.
He would have actually enjoyed help, but he supposed his father would just distract him rather than actually help. The dirty blonde teen rolled his eyes as he lifted up his hand and began scanning through a few titles to see what he wanted to grab next. Unbeknowest to him was the fact that a certain crazy psycho was just lurking behind the shelving.

“Hey. Hey you,” The male voice that called out from behind her didn’t alert Alida to the fact that she was being spoken to. In fact, as she sulked while laying against the tabletop, she assumed that the ruckus were teens squabbling amongst themselves. Another heavy sigh left her as she picked up her pencil and idly twiddled with it, but when the instance grew closer at her back, and two males stepped directly into her view, she finally lifted her gaze to bring her attention to them. “Hey girl,” The male enunciated with irritation and reached forward to lightly shove at her back. “Whaddya doing?”
“What?” Alida’s expression instantly became guarded and hostile as she sat up.
“Whaddya doing?” The guy insisted, and glancing him over Alida decided that he looked like some sort of teenage thug who was actually a couple of years younger than her. Standing beside him was another male around the same age group with his arms folded across his chest and his legs spread wide.
“What do you mean ‘whad am I doin’?” She instantly lashed out with irritation, and when he tried to lightly shove at her back again she blocked his hand with her arm and pushed him off.
“You’re a demon, aren’t ya?” He asked her in a snotty, accusatory, manner and actually smacked one edge of her horns. “Got the blood running through you, don’t ya?”
There was a bit of commotion just beyond where he was currently. But he didn't really pay attention...until the sound of a certain female voice reached him. At first...he tensed and left his hand hovering in the air, but he tried to tell himself that there was no way...no absolute way--
"Shove it, you ass wipe."
It was her...there was no doubt in his mind that the girl currently snapping at some other guys was the girl who had been in his nightmares. He really...couldn't believe his luck...or lack of luck. Nicolas physically smacked his head against the books in front of him as he just let the reality of what kept happening to him sink in.

“Calm down, girly,” The male openly sneered, his expression becoming a blatant smirk as he attempted to shove at her head again. She had dealt with this before. It had once been a common occurrence in Corner Brook, especially during her middle school years, and the two punks before her definitely reminded her of the way they used to act back then. Standing from her chair, she half turned to become confrontational with the two douchebags.
“You got a problem?” She probed, sneering back just as viciously, a coiled fist up lifted between them. “You want to take it outside? Huh?”
The two males burst into laughter, and Alida’s gaze momentarily moved to the other male posing behind the one before her. But then, to her horror, the smell of burning paper drafted to her nose and when she swung her attention back to the tabletop it was only to see her assignment burning away as though a match had been lit under it.
“Whoops.”
The snicker that had left the male’s mouth was quickly broken when Alida grasped onto him, forcefully shoving him back against the nearest obstacle; one of the bookshelves.
“You think that’s funny?” She bit out through clenched teeth. “You want to die?!”
"Why...why,why,why..." Nicolas muttered under his breath as he continued to lightly bump his head into the books before him. He almost laughed when she actually asked for them to take it outside...who even said that? They were in a library...not some kind of brawling club or a bloody bar. The scent of fire actually made him think that she was lighting their asses on fire, but the response of one of the guys made him think otherwise.
The dirty blonde stepped towards the edge of the shelving and peered between the opening of the books to catch sight of what was going on. The firecracker chick was looking back at what seemed to be her assignment that was...catching on fire. Of course, she was too hot-headed to actually do anything about it.
'I'm not going to get involved,' he told himself, but to save the library from burning down...not because of the paperwork, but rather the rage of miss rage-fest. His brown eyes narrowed as he focused on completely diminishing the flame. It made him wonder if she was dealing with a group of other demons. Maybe she really did just go around pissing people off.
How did she have such little control? Why was she constantly tearing off everyone's heads? The paper situation sucked, he wasn't nagging at her for that...but prior to that bullshit she was already starting up a ruckus with no real reason other than being annoyed. Why was he analysing the situation? Who cared? He should have just left.
In all honesty...if it was anyone else he would have told them to keep it down. But the last thing he wanted was for her to associate him with another situation where she was pissed.

“Ha! As if, girly,” She was openly jeered at, the two men not taking her or her threat seriously. “Whaddya gonna do? I bet you’re not even half demon. I bet you’re not even one-four—” His words were abruptly cut short the moment Alida’s fist slammed into the middle of his face. A savage curse came from the douchebag as blood exploded from his nose.
“F**king b**ch!” He swore and when he swung his arm, fist coiled, his knuckles connected with the bone in her cheek, sending her to the floor.
“F**k you!” She hollared back, wheezing slightly as the wind had been thrown out of her, while the male advanced on her.
It wasn't enough that almost everyone else in the world hated on them...even their own kind would boast their bloodline and crush others beneath them. Nicolas had his own fair share of both and he--
The sound of violence caused him to glance out and see that the girl had actually socked the guy in his face. The two had no horns, but he didn't trust that to tell him anything about the origin of their species.
Luckily, for miss firecracker because she had punched one of them in the face first and virtually pulled his attention out from his hiding place he was able to stop the other male from returning the favour. Hitting girls...he knew it was necessary and even he had to do so at some point in his life, but the sight of it always irked him.
The dirty blonde was quick to use the guy's own shadow to grip and yank him backwards before he could successfully collide with the girl's face. Coming out...was...he couldn't believe he was thinking this, nerve-wracking...because of her.
"Hey!" he snapped loudly as he moved forward and glared towards the other male. "Volos' scum pours out like parasites," he cursed and actually tried to use his fire power on him. Nicolas didn't hesitate in redirecting the pathetic burst of energy right into the guy's bag to let his contents burn.
"Why don't you both f**k off," he snapped.

NOTE: ---
Alida’s breath caught in her throat, her entire posture rigid and her expression intense when the male’s attempt to punch her was completely thwarted. She watched, her gaze narrowing, as he was jerked back by the darkness of his own shadow — darkness manipulation. She hadn’t used it. Her gaze snapped to the dirty blond when he stepped into view and called out to them, and Alida’s expression visibly twisted with incredulousness.
“Volos’ scum pours out like parasites,” The other teen spat, and Alida opened her mouth to angrily shout back at him but he was swiftly being dealt his own fire attack back at him and, more specifically, directly into his book bag where everything was set ablaze.
“Why don’t you both f**k off.”
“That’s enough!” A female librarian’s strict voice pierced the tension of the scene and drew everyone’s attention. “All of you, get out. Now.”
Alida silently scowled as she turned her attention away from the librarian and understood not only how unfair the situation was but also the fact that she wouldn’t be able to speak up on her own behalf. People didn’t care. It was every man for themself. Despite the harassment, they were all deemed equally as troublesome and there was no pity to be spared.
“I didn’t even f-ing do anything,” Alida grumbled under her breath, but didn’t hesitate to begin swiping her belongings up from the table. A large portion of her paper had been burned and she couldn’t even take the book because she hadn’t checked it out.
Slinging her bag over one shoulder, she gave the librarian a look of anger and resentment before she started to head off with the rest of the group. Her gaze finally fell on the dirty blond once more, and she felt a mixture of emotion. On one hand the mere sight of him pissed her off because of their two previous encounters with one another. But, on the other hand, he had clearly stepped in and had been the one to stop the guy from punching her square in the face.
“...Thanks,” She muttered out, a bit grumpily, pursing her lips and glancing off to the side for a bit as she stepped in alongside him.
Of course, when they finally get a handle on the situation the 'authorises' step in. Brown eyes jerked towards the woman who had come in with no questions asked and immediately told them to get out. The guy used his pathetic magic to extinguish the fire he had brought on himself, but he actually didn't accuse either of them of damaging his property. Instead the two hightailed it out of there like the rats they were. But Nicolas' wasn't leaving so easily.
"Their the damn thugs," he immediately snapped and gestured towards whatever black box he could find. "Look at the f**king videos if you don't believe me." He was being impulsive with his temper and only after he had suggested the fact...did he stall and realise they'd probably mostly focus on the girl beside him punching the other guy in the face...and grabbing him and ramming him into a wall...
He would have said something, but the librarian cared nothing for the justice of two demons. Instead she told them very bluntly that they either left or she was calling the authorities. The dirty blonde muttered out in aggravation over the entire situation. But he oddly wasn't pissed off that he had been pulled into it. He didn't regret helping the girl beside him because he would have socked the two thugs in the face too.
Ugh, did that make him a damn hypocrite. He sighed as the two walked out of the library together and he was in the middle of pinching the bridge of his nose when the girl actually thanked him. It wasn't a mocking thank you either. It caused him to stall somewhat as he glanced towards her looking baffled by her statement. It was weird...he had been complaining nonstop about how rude and insufferable she was...but now that she was being somewhat nice to him it just felt weird and uncomfortable.
"...Yeah," he stated awkwardly, but tried to keep up his cool appearance. "Don't mention it," he mumbled out after pause and he leaned forward to push the elevator button.

NOTE: ---
Alida hadn’t spoken up in defense of herself or the other male, but she had been surprised by him doing so. Things had gone the way she had assumed they would with the librarian giving them both a cold shoulder and even threatening to call the authorities if they did not willingly leave the premises by themselves. As they exited the library and began down the hallway toward the elevator, Alida found herself wondering why the guy beside her had bothered to help at all. Admittedly, she was still quite bitter with the way he had taken off on the bus after face-planting into her and causing her to lose her phone.
“...Yeah.” There was a clear awkwardness to the other teen when he replied to her… gratitude. “Don’t mention it.”
Silence crept in as they waited together in front of the elevator as it took its sweet time to come up to their floor. Alida had draped her thick black coat over her arm and as she stood waiting, she shoved both of her hands into the front pockets of her black and red sweater.
“...Sucks that I was kicked from the library,” She muttered and turned to sideways glance toward the other male as she lifted one of her hands to run it through her hair. “I was working on a school project before those assholes started harassing me.”
Her expression twisted with anger, and she glanced away from him, feeling a surge of rage at the thought of being targeted in Lorsette, and at a public library no less. When she was left to think about it, it really pissed her off. She hadn’t really dealt with very much discrimination in Lorsette for these past two weeks, and she supposed she had been naive to believe it would turn out different here.
“What was there problem, anyway?” She went on to grumble when the elevator finally arrived, and the two of them stepped inside. “It’s not like I was bothering them or anything.” She openly complained as she reached forward to press the ground floor and then the close door button.
Nicolas glanced towards her from the corner of his eye when she began talking about how she had been kicked from the library. He guessed he shouldn't have expected too much out of her. The two waited awkwardly for the elevator as the girl beside him continued to go on about her situation. Usually, he would have connected her attitude to women and their selfishness, but the entire ordeal surrounding her was too bazaar for him to really think on that. Instead he listened and remained quite not really feeling like she was talking to him but rather just...talking in general.
"We're demons. That's the only excuse people need," he mumbled out as he stepped into the elevator. She had finally asked him a direct question and it was one all demons had to ask themselves at one point. Her reaction made him think that she wasn't accustom to such treatment...which was weird. Even he had his share of experiences with even his own kind...he stopped asking a long time ago.
"I stopped bothering to ask why a long time ago," Nicolas voiced his inner thoughts as he stared ahead at the metal doors.

NOTE: ---
“We’re demons,” The words that left the male’s face instantly caused Alida’s gaze to widen. She had taken in a short breath, which lodged itself within her throat, as she remained fixated on the button panel while the elevator doors closed and they began to descend to the first floor. “That’s the only excuse people need.”
Was it just her, or had it suddenly gotten really hot in here? Her cheeks felt flushed as she began to fan herself, her widened gaze looking around the interior confines of the elevator, nibbling on her bottom lip, while her heart pounded a little quicker than usual. Holy Shit, she couldn’t believe a guy she had been growing to dislike had just complimented her so casually. Pride swelled thickly in her body, and she suddenly couldn’t fight the goofy grin that had plastered itself onto her face. Unable to control herself, she straightened her posture, shoving her chest out and placing one of her hands on her hips while her other busied itself with combing through her hair and then feeling the rigid contours of her horn. And the more she thought about it, the more a devilish smirk spread wider across her features.
“Hah!” She smugly snickered, now grinning ear to ear, her eyes gleaming with delight. “That’s so true, isn’t it?”
Nicolas opened his mouth to say more, but the abrupt 'hah' that erupted from the girl's mouth beside him caused him to stall. His eyebrows drew down into a frown and he gawked at her and listened as she proudly told him that was true. The reaction was so bizarre that it caused him to glance up towards her horns that were currently decorated in light jewellery.
He would have openly commented right then and there 'your not a demon are you' but he knew better than to say something like that to a stranger especially one with a temper like hers. But the way she was blushing and how she lacked experience in regards to demon's being treated poorly...it just made him wonder.
'Oh for the love of Volos' she's not a human pretending to be a demon is she?' he thought to himself as he stared at her from the corner of his eye and tried to remember very clearly if he had seen her use any kind of power. He had heard of human's cosplaying and even trying to 'live' the demon life but he'd never actually met one before. Her horns looked real...but he couldn't be sure. Why else would she be blushing like a buffoon over him just saying they were demons? And even act proud when he stated what should have been the obvious. If anything she should have just continued complaining about the dirt bags who dared to bother her over such a trivial matter.
"Right," he replied to her a little hesitantly as the doors opened and the two stepped out. He wasn't completely convinced of anything...because everything else about her screamed demon and it was hard to think he had somehow been wrong about her.

“Right.” The dirty blond seemed so unbelievably uncomfortable around her that, as she looked to him, her smile was completely wiped clean from her features and replaced with an outright scowl of annoyance.
“Loosen up, will ya?” She complained as the two of them began to stalk out of the elevator and onto the first floor of the shopping plaza. “And what was with that last time, huh?” She openly remarked as she paused to face him, but also begin shrugging on her winter coat. “Climbing over the seats. Really? Jumping off the bus?”
She openly laughed at his stupidity, but then her expression sobered as she glowered at him with a smidgen of annoyance. “Definitely didn’t expect you to be someone to jump in and help. But hey, thanks,” She smacked him against his back, between his shoulder blades, and gave him a thumbs up. “Guess you’re not a coward, after all. I appreciate it.”
