SETTING
Lorsette
Lorsette is a fictional Canadian city on the coast of Newfoundland & Labrador, specifically the Newfoundland portion, the RP itself being setin the modern times of our fictional city. As of size, Lorsette is fairly large for not being the capitol. For the most part, Lorsette's terrain varies, allowing it to sport tall mountains all the way to low coastal areas. The location is a four season climate, which means hot summers and snow filled winters. Common tourist times are during the fall and summer months. Autumn is when the leaves in the Calico Forest change, making the sight attracting campers aplenty. During the summer months is when tourist come to enjoy Lorsette's beautiful beach and oftentimes even look inside the lighthouse.
Crime within Lorsette is on a rise due to the increased terror activity acting as perfect cover for thieves and murderers. Naturally, the police force can not capture them all which leaves some to sneak the streets without consequence for sometimes months at a time. However, these are usually the more sly and well-trained; one fault and the police force will likely notice the criminal and start investigations to identify them.
The healthcare situation is where Lorsette is hit heaviest. Due to the increase in terror attacks, injured people arrive at the hospital and medical wards daily. This has forced them to use magic only on those who are fatally wounded or who would severely suffer from their wounds. Wounds that will create permanent impairments are oftentimes healed within a few days so the citizen or TRS member can work comfortably, however, at times this does little to truly mend the injury back to its peak. A majority of the time, this is meant to make certain their magic healers do not drain themselves constantly since this can lead to stress. Most medical centers are equipped with potions to help tend to the wounded.
The school system within Lorsette is known for excellence, although, there are several drills that occur in all facilities. While they have your typical fire drills and such, the school is known to initiate lockdown practices frequently to prepare students for possible hordes or terror attacks on the facility. There are specialized charms on the doors and locks designed for stability, the glass even being specially shipped to be more resistant to physical blows. A mixture of TRS officers and RCMP have been known to patrol the building itself and the grounds for suspicious activity.
ARIA VILLAGE
About 100km away from Lorsette is the small village of Aria, Newfoundland that has been ruled by the Assembly of Phantoms since the year 1879 when it was conquered by the enemy forces. The townspeople are renown as Assembly supporters, and due to the lack of violent activity, no TRS squads have been dispatched to the village. Aria is generally believed to be a lost cause, and due to the fixation to take Lorsette and other cities in the area, Aria has been left in peace. Most Assembly of Phantoms members live in the area, the village even being segregated into five sections for the four species group, the remainder being designed for interspecies couples.
While there are brawls known to happen in Aria, the village has never been reported about them, a vow of silence since both parties agreed to the fight. The village is located in a different forest known as Ivory Woods for the copious with a small lake being in the area as well. The location is known for its flatlands and tends to get colder during the winter months.
Schooling is limited to a high school education with anybody requiring post-secondary schooling required to attend university or college within Lorsette. This usually results in hour-long drives between Aria and Lorsette for the sake of one's education. Healthcare is mostly designed to handle moderate wounds and illnesses, anybody in a severe condition being healed on spot or transferred to Lorsette where they have bigger facilities. Crime is relatively high, with police officers being required to patrol the small area for criminal activity. Criminals are held in a holding cell before possibly being shipped off to Lorsette depending on the intensity of the crime itself. All individuals who are below the age of 18 are expected to follow a curfew of being indoors by 9:00 pm unless accompanied by a guardian of 18 years or above.
LAWS OUTLINE
For the most part, TDOM functions on basic Canadian laws. Anybody 18+ is considered an adult while anyone 17 and below is considered a minor. Minors are penalized for crimes if they are in between the ages of 12-17, anybody younger cannot be charged; they get sent to juvenile detention centers. There is no death penalty in Canada. The one notable change between real-life Canadian laws and TDOM's set is weapon laws are laxer. Items like iron knuckles and butterfly knives are not outlawed in our version for the sake of interest. Guns still require registration. Curses are also outlawed in-game.
