Graelish Aurendel if it is my destiny, so be it general info
appearance Height: 5'9" (178cm) Weight: 150 lbs (68kg) Hair: Chestnut brown Eyes: Amber Skintone: Pale Gray's build is somewhat slender with the faintest of definition. He is by no means someone who paints an imposing figure but rather the opposite. Quiet, tall, and thin he's more likely to be the target of others than scare them away. His style is more often comfortable, dull tones with no regard for fashion. Hoodies in particular are his favorite. Even those who don't personally know him can pick up on his quiet, borderline somber aura as though there is too much on his mind constantly threatening to spill over. Gray has no scars or tattoos, for the time being. Despite being nearly thirty, Gray doesn't look a day older than his mid twenties. Even with his odd aura, he is easily approachable and puts others at ease with his laughter. personality
There are two sides to Gray's personality. The side that he lets others see while he is in public: a selfless, personable TRS teammate that does all they can for people. Then the side that he keeps to himself: the solemn, self-depreciating seraphim who constantly picks themselves apart due to the workings of a sad history. Gray tries his best to appear unaffected while around others but sometimes if a person is looking hard enough they can see the practiced manner in which he holds himself. For someone so dedicated to what is right and just, Gray's dark secret eats him alive on a day to day basis. Because of this, the standards he holds himself too are much higher than those has has for others. He is easy to forgive, patient, and always seeks to help/understand others before making judgement. His personal life is somewhat of a mess however. Gray doesn't believe he deserves most things and so he lives modestly. The only guilty pleasure he can attest to is his continuing love for literature and coffee. Though he has promised that he will no longer partake in reading for pleasure. Gray is dedicated to his duties and, once he sets his mind to something, he does more than asked to. He is also very detail-oriented with a good memory. abilities Fire Manipulation - poor. Unlike other seraphims, Gray's abilities to manipulate fire falls short. He can ward or "hold back" fire but he cannot transfer or manipulate it. Just about the only tricks that he is capable of performing are lighting the grill and lighting the wick on a candle. Anything else is out of the range of his not-so-great abilities. Enhanced Speed - average. Gray is able to have quick, infrequent bursts of speed that can be considered faster than human speed. However if he uses this often he will become strained thus this ability is only used in emergency situations. Blessings - average. Due to his young age, Gray only has the capability to enact one blessing: peace of mind. For 3 to 4 hours those effected are able to forget one major worry and be at peace. Depending on the worry, this blessing may wear out faster or slower. Regardless it is only a temporary thing and, once fully faded, the individual will go back to worrying. Touch is required for this. Healing - below average. Once again, Gray's abilities fall short when compared with his brethren. He can close external wounds up but cannot influence any internal processes. Gray's only saving grace is his ability to detect impurities within the body. Weather this be a substance (e.g. poison/alcohol) or the presence of malicious magics, he has a 90% success rate. There are some things that he struggles to pick up and certain individuals, namely the undead species whom he cannot 'read' at all. Wing Manifestation - average. While Gray has wings they aren't always visible. He can show his wings to another through wing manifestation. Gray has a single pair of dusted white wings that glow amber when there is no light. Force Fields - strong. Gray's primary strengths lie in his ability to create a force field around him self that can protect others. This is limited to a 7 foot diameter and can only be used once every 20 minutes. Additionally he can craft a one-sided "shield" to block one hit every 10 minutes. Fire Immunity - natural. Naturally immunity to (traditional) fire leaves Gray unable to be burned. Weaknesses: Rainstorms, prolonged physical attacks, long exposure to water, low pain tolerance. backstory Trigger Warning: Violence, Blood, Self-harm concepts "I still cry when I think about how much you loved me." [ 1991 to 2009 ] Graelish "Gray" Aurendel's true parents are unknown. He was raised by an older human woman in the United States who found him as a baby in what might seem like a typical Japanese folk tale. But the overwhelmingly normal elements to this one would suggest otherwise. They were neither poor nor well off, Gray attended school with his friends, and his mother figure lived to a ripe old age. When Erena Aurendel passed away Gray inherited everything she owned: the remnants of her money and their modest house. Only eighteen at the time, this would mark the end of what Gray would consider the happiest time in his life. "Back when I still had those hopes and dreams. I miss it." [ 2010 to 2014 ] With a bright future ahead, Gray enrolled in a nearby community college to get his bachelors degree in creative writing. He worked part time on campus as a barista. It was here he met his best friend Reid, purely by accident. While Gray was quiet and introverted Reid was lively and personable. Through their friendship (and many ridiculous shenanigans) Gray learned to loosen up a little. Reid was also a writing major which made the two practically inseparable. Upon graduation the two made a promise to meet up once they secured jobs. After several long months of searching, Gray was finally able to sign on as an editor for a book company. It wasn't exactly what he had been aiming to do but it provided revenue that allowed him to continue working towards his life long goal of publishing a book. Despite his attempts to get in touch with Reid, his best friend appeared to have disappeared. Gray chalked it up to Reid having yet to find employment. It was a relief when Reid's text showed up a few weeks later. "If I could go back, i'd change everything about that night." [ 2015 ] Reid M: You should visit tonight. 2100, i'll leave the door open. pizza thursdays amirite? 16:03 Nothing about that night had seemed any different. The moon hung high in the dark night's sky, a crescent that kissed the surrounding stars with a soft silver glow. Gray found the door to Reid's apartment wide open and banging softly on the side of the frame. Someone was behind him. When he turned he found a woman, no a child, crying and pointing at the apartment. "He's going to kill me. He already killed your friend!" Graelish didn't need to be told twice. Without a second thought he stormed into his friend's apartment. Reid, dead? No it couldn't be! The slumped figure in the kitchen only confirmed the truth. But before he could gather his wits someone started to attack him with a knife. Gray did the only thing he could to defend himself and reached into a nearby draw to grab his own knife. After a struggle he managed to stab his assailant in between the ribs. When the knife clattered he heard a familiar voice. "Gray... oh my god it's you," the words sounded wet and Gray, realizing that he'd just stabbed Reid, guided him down to the floor. When he turned back to gaze at the other figure it was someone he didn't recognize. The girl that had been crying in the doorway was gone. Gray held his friend until he died. When he could finally breathe, he fled. The news title would read that the case was opened and quickly closed. A man broke into an apartment, stabbed the inhabitant, and both killed each other. No mention of Gray's involvement or the crying child he'd witnessed. Despite his every attempt to unravel the situation and how it had happened, each possibility ended up with Gray being at fault. Illusion or not, he'd killed his best friend. Unable to live with what he'd done Gray abandoned his life in America. Without any money he tried his best to track down the child he'd seen but these paths only led to dead ends. It was impossible. Any other person would've thought they'd dreamed the whole thing up but Gray's memory never lied. No longer able to live life in the wind, Gray hit his lowest point. He didn't deserve to live, he could just end it here. But the thought of letting his adoptive mother down, even if she was no longer on this earth, was too much. No, he needed to atone for this. There was a reason he was still alive and he was going to find it. Even if the very air he breathed was tainted by his blood-stained hands. Giving up wasn't torturous enough. "I don't deserve to live but giving up isn't the answer." [ 2016 to current ] In pursuit of a greater purpose, not for himself but for the memory of his friend, Gray began the tedious process of joining the Terror Response Syndicate. Unwilling to pick up a weapon to defend himself he was in truth ill suited for the role. What use was a TRS operative who was unwilling to brandish a gun or a sword? A natural answer would be for him to become a medic. But Gray's ability to heal was mediocre when compared with most of the candidates. He hadn't even been able to save Reid that night and since then the idea of healing anyone with an involved injury was nauseating. No he simply had to be a scout. It wasn't a glorious job by all means nor was it a job that would be making a huge difference but it was the only way for Gray to ensure he'd be working towards the greater good. Anything non TRS just seemed too self indulgent. So he buried himself in it, working constantly until finally the TRS accepted him as a scout apprentice. Gray mostly keeps to himself, quietly following orders and working underneath his mentor. However, there is an immeasurable amount of guilt within him. Reid's last words continue to play through his mind but he doesn't believe them: Thank god it was me... you're going places Gray. It should've been him who died that day. But to forsake a the sacrifice that had let him continue onward was the greater sin. Gray would make it count for something. misc Likes: coffee, tea, sweets, nature, reading, pets, hoodies, arcade games Dislikes: water, rain, weapons, violence, himself, arrogance Fears: becoming a monster, losing loved ones Relations: parents unknown, no (known) siblings | roleplayer info ☆ NAME Vasya ☆ RP EXPERIENCE 10+ years ☆ TIMEZONE EST ☆ GENDER FEMALE ☆ AGE OLD ENOUGH ☆ OTHER CHARACTERS @katya ☆ FACE CLAIM GRANBLUE FANTASY, Sandalphon ---------------------- THIS CHARACTER BELONGS TO VASYA.
