Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Beth was bored waiting for her cues. As a character who showed up in various scenes but wasn't too important, she had to be there for a lot of the filming but she wasn't actually doing anything most of the time. It almost made her wish she had a smaller part with a cameo in just a couple of scenes. She could have picked up more shifts at the bar, or be checking on friends, or have been doing anything to keep her mind occupied instead of this. Time to think was what always seemed to drive her the craziest, which was saying something considering the shit she'd put up with. [break][break] Unfortunately, she often didn't get what she wanted. So here she was sitting in a corner, sketchbook open idly in her lap, doing her best to stay out of the way of a bustling crew as her mind wandered to a past she'd never had. [break][break] She glanced up to check the time and got a glimpse of herself in the mirror. She had definitely not gotten enough sleep the night before, but it didn't really show. How could it when she was already made up to be on camera? Somehow they'd managed to accentuate all the parts of her that she hated. Wide eyes, rosy cheeks, and glossy hair pulled half up. She looked even more naively innocent than usual. [break][break] Managing to tear her gaze away, she stared up at the clock. Technically she had enough time to get a coffee if she wanted, but it was hard to predict whether they might start moving a bit faster and need her earlier. Show up 15 minutes early to wait an extra hour was practically her moto in this world. Not that she would ever openly complain about it. It was better to wait a little longer than expected than not have a job at all. She could probably support herself off of just bartending, but she liked acting. It was what she lived for and it was what she'd die for. And if it happened to get her a little extra cash, so be it.
Kai was making his way to a small studio. He had a few cameos in a smaller production. He was doing the thing for a friend of his, they had called in a favor. He didn't have very many trust worthy friends and decided that doing a smaller gig was worth the effort to keep his friend happy. Plus the day could come that he would need a favor from the guy, not that likely but still. He drove his favorite car, the purple Lamborghini. He didn't have to be there completely for the beginning of shoots, he was just in a couple of scenes throughout the shooting day, so he really could explore the set a bit more. He was frankly more worried about people coming up and asking for pictures, something that seemed to happen with regularity. Kai was assured however by both his manager and friend that his was a professional set and he wouldn't be bombarded with something like that.
When he arrived his car clearly stood out in the parking lot, He made his way to the dressing room immediately to get changed into his costume. People were making a big hub bub about his appearance but he kept doing his thing. Changing and then making his way to makeup. His attire was a neatly pressed business suit. He was making a few cameo scenes to boost the ratings of the production. He was getting paid a substantial amount but it wasn't anything like he was used too. He considered this an act of charity basically, at least that's where his mind went.
When he made his way out into the back of the stage dressed and ready, maybe 15 minutes early for his shoot he gazed around the room. He could see a woman sitting in some sort of corner sketching out something. This always intrigued him, but he was far too busy at the moment to go see what she was drawing. He was bombarded rather quickly by the director asking him all sorts of questions like was he happy with the accommodations, which Kai refused to check out for the time being, and was he happy with the casting snack bar basically. Kai shrugged. "I'm ready for my first few scenes," He simply replied to the director and he nodded getting the preparations into place for the first scene.
The first scene was very simple, Kai wasn't the lead but it felt like he was with all the attention he was getting from the Director. He made his simple cameo scene and then they went on break for a bit. They wouldn't need Kai for now so they said he should wait in the quarters they set up for him. He decided to make his way towards the woman he spotted earlier. What was she drawing? Circled through his head, making a small conversation should be more fun than just sitting in the waiting room. The director talked to Kai briefly again before letting him go. Kai made his way to the woman who he hoped was still sitting there. He approached her casually and with a blank stare he asked her. "So what are you drawing?" Kai had hoped she wouldn't ask for a picture or an autograph. That would just be unprofessional. People gave Kai stares as they passed almost as if they wanted to approach but were far too busy to take the time too.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] Out of the corner of her eye, Beth caught a flurry of motion. She smirked as she watched a couple members of the crew flutter around, making sure that one of the bigger actors was content. Thank god she didn't have to put up with that. That wouldn't just be bad for her but the people hassling her too. She allowed her gaze to travel the room, taking particular note of the exits out of habit, before returning her attention to her sketchbook. [break][break] In a different world maybe she'd be focused on other things right now. Like a family or some friends. She wasn't entirely certain whether or not that would be a better world. Her life had fallen into a pretty steady rhythm, and she was happy enough with it. [break][break] Her thoughts were interrupted by a somewhat bored voice from nearby. "So what are you drawing?" [break][break] A cool gaze fell on Kai Lust, a fairly well-known actor by most people's standards. Had she grown up watching tv like most people, she was sure she'd be far more excited to meet him, but as it was she didn't get all emotional over people because of their popularity. That would just be a waste of breath. He could only be in a production like this out of some sense of charity, so walking around making conversation was probably his way of pitying the more lowly actors. His presence also explained the director's frenzy. [break][break] It took a bit longer than it should have to offer up a polite smile and a noncommital shrug. "Nothing particularly interesting." She tilted the paper slightly so he could see the random pattern of flowers she'd idly been doodling. Had she actually been drawing something noteworthy, she wouldn't have shared. She wasn't a good artist at all, and when she was actually drawing to create something she didn't want others judging it. "Is that how you greet everyone?" she asked, genuine curiosity tracing her words. In a world run based on how people saw you, it seemed unlikely. After all, as soon as she'd gotten out into the real world her own blunt exterior was the first thing that had had to go. Then again, rules were different when you thought you were better than everyone else.
Kai watched her face curiously as she spoke. She didn't seem to light up in the same way someone who was more interested in his career would have. He wondered what exactly she was thinking. Did she recognize him? It was hard to tell from her initial reaction. When she put up a smile Kai couldn't help but think about it being a fake smile. He often did that too, but was quite genuine most of the time. Did she put on a fake facade? "Nothing particularly interesting" She spoke, his eyes darting to her sketchbook. He shrugged casually and replied. "I'm sure it's more interesting than the blank walls of a quickly assembled waiting room." He eyed the drawings doodles of various flowers in some sort of pattern. "Do you have more in your sketchbook?" He asked bluntly, looking at the thickness of the book. Surely there was more she could show him.
"Is that how you greet everyone?" She seemed to ask with a curious nature. Kai scratched his head with a sigh. "Just the ones who are sitting in the back of the studio with a sketch pad." He didn't think it was an odd way of greeting her, but perhaps she wasn't too keen on sharing. "I do collect various pieces of art, so I guess I got a little excited when I saw your sketch book." Kai went to scratch his nose, but quickly remembered he would disturb the makeup on his face.
"I would be more than willing to share my art work, I'm not much of a typical pen and paper artist, but isn't it the point to show it to the people?" Kai explained with a bit more of a genuine smile on his face. "I consider my shows, and movies, my art.. Although it might not be as impressive as what you've got in your sketchbook." Kai said rather confidently with a smile plastered on his face. He of course didn't expect much out of the sketch book but if laying on a little bit of humility, and maybe a slight bit of charm meant he got to see the thing more in-depth why the hell not. Kai had one other source of art in his life, his Piano renditions. Even he was picky about who he showed that off too, only showing it to the closest of friends and family. Unless some sort of role called him into question for playing it, he kept that piece about him out of the media sphere.
"You draw to just pass the time?" He looked at her with a friendly smile. "I'm just trying to pass the time too, so what do you say, care to pass the time together? I'm rather bored.." He looked at her with a curious, yet firm, position. "We could hit up the snack table together?" He pointed in the direction of the snack table. "Of course after I get a better look at the sketchbook," He reached his hand out almost expecting her to hand him the sketch book.

[attr="class","ayab-text"] This guy was going to get annoying after a while. Normally when people responded to you so bluntly you walked away. You didn't go chattering on. And oh was he talkative. She wasn't sure she had the tolerance to deal with so much energy. But she at least had to try. Even if her instinct was to be blunt, she had to act polite. So she kept her smile plastered on. [break][break] "I'm sure you mean well," Beth started cautiously. "But I don't show my drawings to people. If you want to judge my art, judge my acting. That's the art I share with the world." Him being some sort of collector was all the more reason not to share her work. She didn't want it on display and she didn't want it to be judged and analyzed. She drew to get out some of the emotions she couldn't express out loud, not to project her thoughts to the world. She really didn't want the world knowing how she thought. She'd rather just be left to do her own thing, but the spotlight happened to shine on her in her choice of career. [break][break] She cast a glance at the snack table he'd motioned to a moment earlier. "I say if you're hungry go eat. They've got a fine assortment and I'm pretty sure those guys would die of happiness if they saw you enjoying their food." She motioned in the vague direction of the crew members that had been hounding him earlier. If she wanted a snack, she would have already gotten it. She didn't need other people to accompany her. Of course, the scathing remarks at the tip of her tongue weren't an option. It would really just be easier for everyone if he went and got snacks on his own.
Kai didn't really get the idea that he was being welcomed with wide open arms here. He stood strong however listening to her words. "Well I guess not everyone wants to share their creations," Kai knew the feeling mostly, not wanting to share his music talent to anyone. Sure their were a few movies where he sang, but he made sure to keep his piano skill out of the common knowledge of producers, and directors. He didn't want to share his music with others, so he kind of got where she was coming from. He however didn't really understand the bit of cold shoulder he was getting, despite her putting on some sort of smile, she didn't seem very open or accepting of his presence.
"Well, I guess If I see you on the stage then I'll be sure to say hello." He wasn't sure how to continue talking to her really, he wasn't one to stick around where he wasn't wanted for too to long, although usually he was wanted in the situation. "Alright, I guess I'll go to the snack bar by myself then," He looked at her curiously before leaving her to her own devices. Kai made his way to the snack bar, a few people taking notice of his presence. He was a bit caught off-guard by how little she seemed to care about him. A lot of people would have jumped at the chance to speak with him. He however didn't find her very easy to talk too, and she didn't seem to be liking his kindness, and curiosity.
Making his way to the snack bar. He grabbed a paper plate, grabbing bits of fruits that were on display. Some pineapple, strawberries, and apples. He then made his way to a corner of the section to start eating. People seemed to be leaving him alone while he ate, which was actually quite nice. He finished up his plate, and then quickly almost as soon as he was finished with the plate he was approached by someone. He spoke casually, and calmly, to this person, who seemed to be the person stocking up the snack bar. "Did you get everything you wanted?" He asked. "Yeah, it was quite good." He replied.
