Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Kai awaited patiently in his Manor. The place was well built, and very large with multiple rooms and floors. 4 floors to be exact. The place had guards for the occasional people trying to break in. They had a few issues with an unnamed assailant so Kai made sure to have the place locked up pretty tight, and especially for when he was going to make celebrity appearances like at a night club. The night club was paying him to make the appearance, it boosted their turnouts, and he got to meet with some of his fans. They would give him free booze for the night, as long as he was willing to sign things. Kai didn't want to charge an amount for signings but his manager insisted that he did so. It was something about his cut probably. The manager looked at guy with an angry look at his eye. "You know Lorsette isn't anything like the town I come from, why did you talk me into coming out here again?" Kai shrugged nonchalantly.
"If you don't like coming out here to see me, and book appearances like this one, then I can always go with someone local. I'm sure they'd be grateful for the position." Kai was popular enough he didn't need a manager to book gigs, he had been in plenty of movies, tv series, and commercials. He had been a househould name in movies for a while now. The manager groaned not really knowing what to say.
Kai's head guard walked into the room making his way directly to Kai.
"Ah Jason!" Kai said while pulling out a cigar. "Here I got this for you, " Kai smiled with anticipation. "Pure cuban." Jason laughed. "You know you really got to stop enforcing my bad habits." "I figured you could use it after tonight." Kai went and handed him the cigar. Kai wasn't looking forward to the night out, screaming fans, a sore wrist from writing out signatures, and worst of all a new guard that would probably poke and prod him for pictures of their own. Jason spoke up. "I'll debrief the new guard before I let them in to see you, don't worry they won't ask for any signatures or pictures." Jason reassured Kai.
"Yeah sure," Jason made his way through to the entrance of the manor where the new guard was supposed to approach. Jason had learned of this guard through a contact of his, they were supposed to be trust worthy so he was trusting them with a little more than what they would usually for new guards. The lights of the manor light up the rather large front yard quite nicely, but Jason spotted a shadowy figure just outside the manor's entrance. He decided to to walk out instead of letting them mess around with the intercom to the gates. "Are you the new guard? What's your name?" He was a little on edge because of the attempt some girl had made trying to break into the manor.
Katya’s bike was somewhere close but not obvious. She never really trusted new gigs, especially ones with such an exuberant price tag. But any job sent her way through that particular friend was always worth the work. Still. Crowds, fans, some rich celebrity who spent the entire night talking about themselves to others. Katya knew she was in for a long one. [break][break]
Both her knives and her gun in tow, she approached the gate and was about to handle the intercom when someone approached her from the other side of the gate.[break][break]
“Yeah. Katya Visse. Grekt sent me,” dark eyes traveled from the man to the intercom, the panel gave off a slight flicker that would only be seen by someone with decent night vision. Or someone who dealt with that thing on a day to day basis. It radiated from a decent-sized crack in the plate. [break][break]
Raising a well-manicured brow, Katya turned back toward the figure that had come out to meet her. She’d never been one for pleasantries or small talk so why bother feigning interest now? It was time to get to the point. Nobody had hired her for her (lack of) conversation skills. Boots clicked as she moved to the side for the door to open, jamming her thumb in the direction of the panel. [break][break]
“Your door’s looking a bit busted. Should I expect more trouble than usual tonight?” should she indeed. Katya didn’t like being lied to about the severity of a mark. If things looked the slightest bit sketchy, she would be out ASAP. There were plenty of other people out there that needed her specialized services. [break][break]
Crimson orbs remained unyielding as she awaited her answer, the usual cold mask that she wore in place. Having any other expression at this point was work and Katya needed to save her focus for getting through the babysitting she’d be doing tonight. It was a shame alcohol had lost its appeal nearly a century ago because she could use some right now.
Katya Visse. He looked her up and down casually wondering to himself if he did the right thing accepted her into his ranks, especially trusting her with Kai's life. Jason listened to her words and very bold attitude wondering exactly who he'd gotten out of this. "The door?" He spoke bluntly. "We caught some girl tampering with it the other day, nothing to be alarmed about. She probably just wanted to meet my boss." He swiped his wallet against a black pad in the gate, opening up door nearby for Katya to walk through. "I guess you check out, follow me" Jason waited for her to enter and then closed the door behind her, then taking lead to show her the way to go to get inside the manor.
"You should remember the rules set out in your contract, but I'll go over them one more time. No signatures, no photos, you are required to drive when we need you too, although I wouldn't expect it tonight." Frankly he would think Kai would be crazy to let her drive on her first night out. Jason specifically told Kai not to drink tonight, he didn't trust this guard yet, and wanted to see how she did on her first night out. He was already trusting her thanks to her glowing resume, but he was trusting her with someone he really cared about.
"You are entitled to come back to work with us, in fact we like to keep people on pay roll, and there's more benefits and pay the longer your with us. So keep that in mind." Jason made his way to the front door of the manor opening for Katya to get in. Inside the entrance alcove was Kai's manager who seemed to be quite angry. He was gathering a few things at the entrance of the manor before leaving. "JAASON!? It's a woman?!" The manager seemed startled to see Katya's gender.
"You know how that usually goes down Jason," The manager pointed his finger at the man while grabbing his things with the other hand. "Yeah but I was promised she would a valuable asset, I feel like her resume and attitude speak for themselves." Jason retorted, The manager replying. "You know how he gets.." Jason turned to Katya and replied. "Don't worry about him, I'm your boss, you gotta make me happy." Jason spoke, the manager glaring at Katya with an anger in his eyes. The manager decided to make his way out quickly thinking he could do so before Kai made his way into the place.
Jason looked at her and sighed. "Your not going to be the only one there, but you are going to be the one closest to Kai. You don't have to worry about too much. You've had previous experience being a guard so I shouldn't have to explain the duties required." He was just expecting her to watch over the situation and respond with force if necessary. Maybe move a few individuals if that situation required it. "And remember, I'm your boss." Jason had that stated for a number of reasons. "Look with all that being said we're on a tight schedule tonight, so you ready to meet your other boss? Don't act too excited though alright?" Jason made his way to open and enter the secondary walk in area where it was more open. She would find Kai waiting in the area with his signature dark purple suit.
When he arrived with Katya, Kai replied rather calmly. "This is who you brought me?" Jason seemed to be getting a lot of flak tonight for accepting her onto payroll so fast. "I guess it all really depends on her performance.." Kai walked over to Katya reaching his hand out to shake hers. "Kai Lust, pleasure to meet you." Kai was expecting excitement in her eyes, a little shake, or twitches. Something to tell she was ecstatic to see him. He expected the reaction from a lot of people, and he often got the reaction. After the whole greeting process was over Kai stepped a few feet away from Katya.
"So you can keep me safe?" Kai spoke smoothly and with confidence and poise. Jason seemed to be frozen for the time being, watching the interaction between the two hoping it went smoothly.
As the gate squeaked open Katya slipped through, following the man who had yet to introduce herself. A long list of don’t-dos that sounded almost rehearsed spilled forth from his mouth. Did this really need to be said? Katya tried her best to keep her face its steely baseline. They weren’t familiar with her so it was only natural they’d be suspicious. She quirked a brow quietly at the idea of driving anything but said nothing as her boots continued to click with each footfall.[break][break]
It was only when someone belted the name Jason loudly that Katya was able to distinguish whom she had been following. Another man. When they talked together, they almost sounded like hyenas cackling. Katya disliked the ‘boys club’ mentality that these environments typically brought in but for the money she was making on this, it could easily be endured. [break][break]
Crimson irises centered on the man proclaiming himself to be her boss. Boss. It wasn’t really a word she liked. Nobody was her boss really but Katya didn’t think too much on it.[break][break] “Of course,” was her only response, a velvet purr without a hint of noncompliance. [break][break]
Eventually she followed this Jason into a room where a man in a dark purple suit was waiting, hair feathered in a way that could only mean this was the man she was to protect. Katya watched as he held his hand out and introduced himself. Kai… Lust? He had to be joking right? She didn’t return the handshake but rather offered a nod.[break][break]
“Katya Visse,” was her reply. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Jason looming around them, likely making sure she didn’t murder him on the spot. Perhaps there was an actual reason they’d thrown around the “boss” term so frequently. [break][break]
Thankfully, they’d hired her for physical abilities, not to be some sort of social companion for this Lust guy. This was why it was so easy for her to ignore the handshake. Many of this world’s abilities relied on touch; she’d be a fool to touch someone she didn’t know, even if they were claiming to be an average human celebrity. [break][break]
“That is what you hired me for isn’t it?” there was a slight hint of sarcasm, dressed in just enough politeness that it wasn’t seem as insulting. Katya placed a hand on her hip, “are we all set Jason? Or are you still unconvinced of my abilities? If so, I’m always willing to give a demonstration. I did bring my knives today.”
Jason was a little surprised at her attitude when she refused to shake Kai's hand. Kai was a little surprised too. Most people wanted to reach out and grab him, this was her chance wasn't it? Surprisingly thrown off by this Kai stayed silent as Jason spoke up. "No, I think your the perfect candidate for the job Katya. Your attitude certainly says enough." Frankly Jason was glad that she was this way, it meant Kai couldn't get to her even if he tried. While he was happy he thought she could have at least shaken his hand and acted a little bit more welcoming he thought.
Kai wasn't used to being treated like this, so he wasn't quite sure what to say to the woman. "Katya sounds like a lovely name" He thought, and spoke aloud, but was secretly thinking her personality could use some work. Expecting most people to suck up to him this was a refreshing change from a guard.
Jason spoke up firmly. "You can keep your knives away," Jason wasn't expecting enough trouble for anyone to resort to knives. Kai looked at her blankly with a small smile almost as if he was thinking of something. Jason meant to speak up. "Kat~" But Kai spoke over him rather quickly. "Katya will ride with me Jason," Kai wondered what made this woman tick, why was she so stern? Jason sighed rather heavily, but kept a small grin from escaping his lips. "I don't think that's very professional Kai" You could tell Jason was loving the fact that Kai thought he could impress this guard.
Jason walked up to Katya and spoke softly. "Don't let him make a fool of himself if possible." Jason knew he was asking a little too much there but really wanted to see how far she'd take this job. Kai stayed silent still thrown off by Katya's attitude.
"Katya follow me, " Kai began walking down the left hallway. Jason looked at Kai and then back to Katya. "I guess if anything happens along the way your to protect him naturally.." Jason was a little uneasy at the prospect of her riding with Kai. Kai walked Katya over to his six car garage. "Which one you want to ride in? The 1969 4 door Parissiane convertible, 2 door Lamborghini Convertible, or the 4 door black Mercedes?" An orange muscle car, a purple Lamborghini, and a blacked out Mercedes awaited in the garage. The blacked out mercedes was the car he used for trying to blend in, as it was the least of the show offy cars. "I have more cars, if your interested in hearing about them." Kai was wondering if wealth was what she liked. If so the Lamborghini was a perfect fit for her. "So. how long have you been a guard for?"" Jason stopped to speak. "I'm trusting you with a valuable asset Katya, don't let him take any detours either." Jason walked past them grabbing a black suv parked in the back. Another blacked out vehicle was sitting in the back already running with a group of people in the car.
They were basically making a small convoy for Kai as they made their way to the club. Kai didn't trust the clubs security so he was bringing some of his own.
She would be lying if she weren’t a little disappointed about getting to play with her knives but it was also reassuring. So, they were taking her seriously then. The faintest of smiles tugged at the corner of her mouth, barely visible to anyone else. Katya watched the power play between wordlessly. Paired with the sprinkling of boss titles it almost seemed as though this sort of dynamic was a common theme. [break][break]
Finally, the man in the nicer suit won and Jason, likely eager to get the last word in, softly spoke a command to her that she had no intention of following. They’d paid her to guard the guy not, censor him. [break][break]
Calculating eyes appraised the words until, finally, Kai mentioned that she should follow him. She did so in earnest until they stood in a six-car garage with far too many luxury vehicles for Katya to care for. While not exactly a car person, she could appreciate the collection he’d assembled. Of course, she’d never let on about it.[break][break]
“The Mercedes is best,” she replied cordially. It had a roof, tinted windows, and was the less likely of the bunch to draw attention to them. Why on earth anyone would think riding up to a crowd of people in a car without a top or with only two doors astounded her. [break][break]
No wonder this human needed protecting. [break][break] Katya didn’t need to be told twice, she gave Jason a parting nod and headed over to the dark car. A quick sweep of the undercarriage and sides told her that there was nothing out of order and thus, she yanked the door open. That overly pungent, well-liked new-car smell washed over her almost immediately. Katya turned her gaze back to the to-be caravan around them before finally registering that Kai had in fact been talking to her.[break][break] “I’m not usually I guard. I’m a mercenary,” it sounded better than assassin anyways, “and I’ve been doing this for far longer than you can imagine. The keys, if you don’t mind.”[break][break]
As she held her palm up to receive them, Katya once again looked Kai over. Too well kept. The way in which he held himself screamed money, arrogance, and maybe even a little bit of selfishness. Or perhaps she had impressed her own thoughts onto him. There was a lack of change in her expression as she waited for Kai to hand her the keys to the Mercedes.
Kai looked in her direction as she went towards the car. He stayed behind watching her examine the car for.. what exactly he didn't know.. It's not like his cars would be rigged to explode. "The mercedes is best" She said, Kai sighing in disagreement. "Well I wouldn't say it is the best, sometimes you have to show off what you got. I really think the purple Lamborghini stands out.." Kai pointed to it grabbing the remote off the wall and pressing the remote start on the thing. The engine echoed through the six car garage and would even hurt your ears a bit. He noticed she wanted the keys to the black Mercedes and grabbed them off the wall tossing them to her.
"Don't you like the sound of the Lamborghini more?" When Kai turned off the Lambo with the same remote start function he placed the key back on the wall. The engine sputtering as it wound down. He wanted to drive, but he supposed if Katya was so insistent on driving he could drink tonight. And that would be a more fun night for him right? When she said she didn't guard, she was a mercenary, Kai shrugged in response. "I guess it's no wonder Jason likes you, he used to be a mercenary too. He likes my pay much better than what he was making I bet though" Kai was actually quite generous, he paid much more than an average guards salary, but he expected loyalty out of his men. He didn't trust all of them, that's why he had Jason, to deal with the ones that got out of line, tried to stealing, tried showing off, getting autographs for family or friends, Jason dealt with all those situations and Kai was thankful to have him.
Jason wasn't a mercenary for long, he just did it to pay for his family's expenses. He was a lion shifter although he had no lion qualities except for a pair of fangs, unless he transformed of course. Kai made his way into the back of the mercedes going on the door he expected to be the side the car would approach the club at. He had a good sense for these things. He knew that someone would come to take the cars and park them for them leaving his security guards free to approach the club and make sure it was safe, this would be all new stuff for Katya but no so much to Jason and the crew they brought along with them.
Getting into the back he closed the door, letting Katya take the wheel. "So how old are you then?" Kai asked from the back seat of the car correcting his posture while getting his seat belt on. He almost immediately pulled out his phone and began texting on it to a few people. "You know to follow Jason right?" He said as Jason's blacked out suv had just enough room to pull out of the garage slipping between the other cars.
[attr="class","runrunpost"] Despite her straightforward answer this man, this Kai, actually started a different car. It took the majority of Katya’s self-control not to shoot him a look. He was like a kid playing with shiny toys. Though Katya would be lying if she said she didn’t get enthusiastic about weapons. Her eyes begrudgingly went to the car in reference.[break][break] “It sounds way too loud and it looks like a death trap,” she replied drily and when Kai handed her the keys to the Mercedes, she clicked the car on. It hummed to life, nothing exploding. Satisfied, she was about to toss the keys back to him without caring if he caught them or not but it seemed she was now driving.[break][break]
Well, shit.[break][break]
“Guard work is good but it makes you dull. I’ve lived long enough that any sort of monotony like that would stake me right through the heart,” Katya replied, though her respect for Jason had increased somewhat. [break][break]
Of course he sat in the back of the car. Katya didn’t like it but it was much safer than the front she supposed. The red head yanked the driver’s door open, sat down, and began the tedious task of setting the seat to her specifications. Leather crunched as she shifted and Kai, apparently unable to keep from talking, was already committing the cardinal sin of asking a woman her age.[break][break]
“Centuries,” was her brief answer followed by, “of course.”[break][break]
Katya’s hands closed around the wheel. Even if it was the least impressive car it was still a nice one. She’d always prefer her bike though, especially given her history. With one last adjustment the review mirror landed on Kai, texting someone. People really loved the good-looking ones, didn’t they? As the troupe began their travels, Katya put the car in drive and followed. [break][break]
"Asking a woman their age is a good way to get punched, even in this century,” scarlet irises didn’t leave the road, “how old are you? Nineteen? Twenty? I have trouble gauging human ages,” the last part was a lie but Katya figured she’d get more information by being a little more personable… much to her chagrin.
Kai slightly pouted in the back, wondering why exactly this woman didn't love his purple Lamborghini. "You know that cars really quite rare," He mumbled really not expecting Katya to pick that up. He watched as she adjusted her seating, he was glad that she didn't just hop in and take off. That would have been a surefire way for him to question her. "I guess monotony can be something different for everyone. I highly doubt you'll find tonight monotonous though, things can get quite crazy if the right people show up." He continued to tap on his phone in the back of the car while talking to her. "People can try and rush the area, touch me inappropriately, or even attack if they are the jealous type of person." Kai didn't really think it would be that bad but wanted to play it up a little bit for her. Little did he know that tonight wouldn't be a cakewalk at least.
Kai looked up from his phone as she said that asking a woman her age was some sort easy way to get punched. He was blank thinking on how he was going to respond but smiled when she took the time to ask his age. "Centuries? I'm only twenty two." He responded calmly. "I don't understand the big hub bub about asking someones age. If they are really that upset about answering it than maybe they just haven't achieved very much." He looked at her through the rear view mirror. "When you become a public figure your age is out in the open anyways. I mingle with actors, models, they're age is usually public record. I have no worries asking about someones age." He looked back down at his phone. "Maybe that's just because I'm young though, maybe I'll be more worried about it as I get older."
He turned to look out the back watching the other blacked out car follow behind them. It wasn't very far so they would be approaching the entrance to the club soon. It would honestly look almost like a red carpet event at least when he showed up. He knew there would be cameras at the entrance, and their would be a line up of fans. "Just stop where Jason stops. He'll let a valet take his car, and then you do the same with this one. We'll walk up through the entrance of the club. There'll be pictures, and fans, but just act natural." Kai wasn't sure how she would take to be standing out in the open during all this attention, she was new after all.
"Let me get out first, you don't have to open the door for me someone will open the back door first." Kai made sure everyone was caught up with how he would enter tonight. A valet would open his door first, letting him out to enter the club, and then take the car from Katya. It was pretty simple really. Jason made a few turns, and after a few minutes the club was in sight of the vehicles. Jason stopped his car at the entrance, the people with cameras and the line to the club all seemed to pay attention to who was getting out but looked disappointed. Kai fixed his jacket up before taking his gaze off the phone. He waited patiently for Katya to get into position, and for the valet to open his door. Jason got out his vehicle at the entrance, and a few men gathered at his side. The men made their way into the club making sure Kai's way to his area was clear.
[attr="class","runrunpost"] Katya wanted to quip back that a stab wound in the gut from a wild fan would be the worst of it but she didn’t think that was appropriate. Instead she pressed the gas, bored with how slow they were going. Kai Lust was apparently very precious cargo. Twenty-two. She’d been off by some. Kai seemed intent on talking and Katya didn’t feel like being asked questions so she drove in silence as she listened to him.[break][break]
Naturally, he didn’t worry about his age: he was practically a baby to most immortals. [break][break]
Pictures, fans, act natural. Those words were literally noise pollution to her mind. Staying out of the public eye was something Katya was adamant about but she supposed it couldn’t be helped in this case. Deft fingers dipped into a pocket on her leather jacket, pulling out a pair of sunglasses so dark it would be impossible for a regular human to see through them. [break][break]
As she shifted the vehicle into park, she ran one hand over her knife to be sure it was secured and then another to the handgun holstered in its usual location. All thing she hoped she wouldn’t need. [break][break] “I’m not sure if I need to say this but don’t let anyone get close to you,” Katya replied coolly as she opened the door handle and stepped out. Cheering (more like screaming) instantly assaulted her ears. [break][break]
People everywhere, waving, screaming, and being generally annoying. It was almost enough that Katya wish she’d taken earplugs as well. Slamming the door behind her, the crimson-haired guard eyed the horizon for potential threats. [break][break]
Anyone worth watching wouldn’t be conspicuous. Kai had the right of it though: fans could be crazy enough to do anything. From the well-light doors, a pulsing club beat emanated and Katya could’ve sworn it was the same rhythm on repeat from every shitty club she’d had the misfortune of stepping into.[break][break]
“Let’s get this part over with,” she mumbled, being sure to cover her mouth so that nobody could read her lips. Katya stood in position, glaring daggers into the crowd through her dark lenses. As much as she wanted to cross her arms she knew it was a bad idea and so her hand instead lingered inconspicuously close to her holster.[break][break]
Kai watched through the window as Katya pulled into position and the valet quickly made his way up to open the door. He was a little occupied with all the attention focused on him that he totally forgot to pay attention to what Katya was doing, and instead trusted her for the most part to do what was right. He got out of the car, a million flashes of light coming from the side of the entrance to the club. People began asking for autographs from the line to the club. Kai groaned under his breath, that was for the most part why he was here, so wouldn't they just wait until he began signing things? He adjusted his jacket once more as he started walking towards the entrance.
He put a smile on his face for the cameras, and some people from the section of reporters began asking for questions from behind the fencing the club had set up. There were a set of guards patrolling the area, and Kai just assumed Katya would be among them watching the situation clearly. There were a few guards that were hired by the club as well, so the place was pretty stacked on security. Kai waved to the fans in line, all of them waiting to enter the club. They screamed in response, many taking pictures with their cell phones. Kai made his way into the club where the music had already been started, a clear line had been made for him. He walked up a few stairs to a section that looked out over the club. There was a set of stairs from the dance floor to his section, and a bar set that was sectioned off for Kai's whole little signing section.
There was a table with a seat waiting for him, it had his name on it and everything. He looked around noticing that people were already in the club dancing, just sectioned off from him. His face didn't appear to be happy as he made his way to his seat. Their were guard where people were trying to filter in to see him. He was getting ready to start, but he wanted a drink first. Sure enough a young lady approached him. She had a clear and visible name tag on her that hung from a necklace. It read "Anne". Kai looked at her curiously thinking she must be who was getting him drinks for the night.
"Can I get a glass of single select whisky, mixed with a bit of coke on ice." She seemed a little startled at first but replied. "Yeah I'll get that for you right away Sir!" Kai smiled in her direction, ready to start once his drink arrived. It took a few minutes but eventually Kai got his drink, taking a liberal sip from the glass as he set it on the table. He made a signal to the guard working the front entrance and he let in single person. Some people with VIP tags waited in line from another section of the club. Kai had forgotten completely about letting VIP passes of people come in to his section for a more personal meet and greet, but wasn't going to let them near him without doing the signing first.
Kai smiled as he noticed a young and attractive woman enter near his table. She spoke loudly among the music. "Can you sign my copy of Bubble Boy?" Kai was happy to see someone was interested in his child actor days, and even cared to want to bring that in. The guard at the front had already collected money from this woman for the signature, so Kai was glad to sign anything really but wasn't looking forward to a wrist cramp. "Gladly, I'm happy to see someone bring in something so old from my career. You must be a pretty big fan." He smiled while taking the DVD and signing on the cover. "Here you go!" Kai slid back the DVD and smiled. She seemed rather excited and said. "I loved Bubble boy, so glad I could meet you, you were my favorite character!" Kai chuckled knowing that he wasn't even in a staring role in that film. "That's nice to hear," The woman made her way to the exit to go back to the section of the club that allowed her to dance. Kai was surprised that these club meet and greets were so popular, even with fans that didn't seem all that interested in the club aspect.
That woman more than likely came just for the autograph he assumed, she didn't seem to be all that into the club as she left. He supposed that's why the clubs liked it when he came, they got more revenue from people paying to get in. Kai only did these things because his manager assured him it was a good time for him, and the fans.
[attr="class","runrunpost"] As the song and dance of a celebrity unfolded before her, Katya stalked the crowd like a shadow. It wasn’t so different from her normal routine. Maybe a little louder and far less interesting. Either way she was glad to have something to do other than talk to Kai. Something about his nonchalance irritated her. With only two decades of existence as a human she couldn’t possibly fault him for it. But humans had to grow wiser faster for their existence was not even a century at best. [break][break]
Once they entered the club, Katya eyed their surroundings. Typical. Kai was, of course, the centerpiece. She didn’t have the luxury of having prior knowledge of this establishment which made her more on edge than usual. Kai, obvious to the thousands of ways he could die, chatted up a woman who in turn brought him a drink. Which, much to her chagrin, he immediately took a sip out of.[break][break]
Relax Katya, you aren’t defending him from a hit. Just a bunch of screaming fan girls. She thought to herself.[break][break]
Bubble Boy? Shaded by her dark glasses, Katya’s eyebrow shot up. What on earth kind of work was this man into? No, it was better she didn’t know. Her respect for him was questionable at best. Jason was the main reason, the boss as he put it. She could respect him and therefore she would respect Kai… even if he were known at one point for his participation in such a film. [break][break]
At least she hoped it was a film. [break][break]
“Gods,” she muttered under her breath, weaving through the crowd to assess for potential threats. [break][break]
There were enough guards on duty that she didn’t have to worry about taking her eyes off of Kai for a tiny bit. So far so good. Just in case, Katya made her way within grabbing distance of her charge. Getting too close would mean she might show up in pictures but staying too far away wasn’t good either. Katya stood stoically to the side, not a hint of any expression visible on her face.[break][break]
Lyra was dolled up for the night, she had to look her best for meeting Kai Lust! She wore some fancy makeup and a fancy red dress. Something a little out of the ordinary about her outfit was her brown over the shoulder bag which stuck out against the red dress. This carried all her utilities for lockpicking, binoculars, and impressioning tools, among other items she had stashed away in the bag. She actually decided to leave most of her valuable things at home, knowing she would more than likely be searched upon entering the club. She grabbed a few items like floss, and breath mints. She began tampering with the floss a little bit, before stuffing it into her bag. She headed out to walk to the club. The night was cool and refreshing as she made her way to the club, getting in line. She waited patiently in line and got into the club before Kai was even there.
She knew if she wanted to meet Kai she would need to be there in advance, and made her way to being third in line for the signings. She didn't have the money for a VIP pass. She waited in line listening to the music and talking to the people in line. Sure enough as time passed the line started moving and Kai began signing signatures. He signed the first person's signature and then a second. After the second person got their signature it was Lyra's turn. Ready she wanted to experience time with Kai for as long as possible. With a big grin on her face she screamed. "KAII!!!" And she pulled out her modified floss and wrapped it around the first guards legs, pulling and dropping him to the ground. She rushed for Kai with a smile on her face. The rest of the line started rushing for Kai as well, but Lyra was on it way faster then the others.
Her striped tail fluttered as she rushed over the table.
She slid over the table dropping into Kai Lust's lap. She brought her hands and placed them up on Kai's face feeling around his head and his hair. As a raccoon shifter she had plenty of sensitivity in her hands and was enjoying feeling his face up "I JUST LOVED YOU IN STARS!" She spoke loudly over the music. The rest of the group of ladies began trying to rush Kai as well, running up to him and grabbing his jacket as they tried to yank him in different directions. They were lucky that the bodyguards weren't expecting such a rush right out the gate.
Kai noticed Katya walk off for one second, and then the next second he notices that he's being swarmed by a girl. He sat there expressionless for a moment as she approached him, screaming his name. "Oh, boy." He muttered under his breath as the raccoon featured lady slid over the table and dropped into his lap. She then began speaking about STARS and began rubbing her hands all over his face, and hair. Kai responded. "Yeah! Stars was fun, but can you get your hands off of my face?" He asked her honestly.
The woman seemed to hug him with all her might afterword, and the rest of the line decided to come in, being eventually cut off by the reacting guards. So a good amount of people got in and were grabbing at Kai from all sides. "I LOVE YOU" Screamed one, "WILL YOU SIGN MY COPY OF COP CRAFT" Screamed another. Kai tried to pull his arms into his jacket as they began pulling on the jacket heavily from all sides. Kai groaned looking around for Jason, as he trusted him the most. "Jason!?" Jason was already on the scene pulling off some of the fans. "I'm here Kai!" He responded coming out of almost nowhere and seemingly ripping through the crowd of people that got through.
Kai shifted his body under the weight of the girl, trying to get up from his position. She however shifted her body upward, and then sat back down on him pushing him against the seat. Kai couldn't hurt the girl, that would be bad for his image, so he was kind of stuck in the position he was in. He then remembered that Katya was supposed to be keeping a close eye on him. He looked around the moving people tugging at him. "KATYA!?" He groaned from under the pressure of the people. This thing certainly escalated from zero to one hundred pretty fast.
[attr="class","runrunpost"] Pictures. Autographs. Smiles. Another drink. It was the glamorous show of a gilded life that celebrities put on for their fans. Katya heard the next person in the line before she saw them. Why did all these people feel the need to scream so loudly? She would be enjoying the silence of her apartment tonight. [break][break]
Then, just as the woman had stopped yelling, the trajectory of the entire evening shifted. Like a lead brick, the guard holding back the majority of the masses flopped to the ground.[break][break]
Suddenly the fans became sharks in the water, only the blood that sent them into a frenzy was the promise of Kai Lust. Katya cursed, trying to fight through the masses to reach Kai first but it felt like diving in a river with a strong current. There was no way she could use her usual tactics because harming fans, even crazy ones, wouldn’t look good for Kai’s overall image. [break][break]
Leaving Kai unguarded would lead to a breech of her contract and so Katya grabbed the nearest ponytail she could find, pulled it toward her, and shoved hard in the opposite direction.[break][break]
The result, among a crying fan, was a small break in the crowd that Katya quickly took advantage of. When she emerged from the mess, she found a woman sitting in Kai’s lap… rubbing her hands all over his face. Yeah, heck no. But her options were limited. Over here there actually were cameras and phones, unlike the where she’d shoved the fan earlier so she had to be careful. [break][break]
If she couldn’t grab the fan away from Kai, she’d have to grab Kai away from the fan.[break][break]
Katya, ever so grateful for her dhampir peak human strength, slid her hands under each of Kai’s armpits from behind the booth and then wrapped them across his chest. Before the fangirl could figure out what she was doing, Katya hoisted Kai over the back of the club booth like a ragdoll. He subsequently landed somewhere nearby but the booth wall was enough to keep most of the fans at bay for his team to roll in for damage control and extra protection. [break][break]
“No touching,” Katya growled over the booth, hoping to quell the frenzy of the fans. Actually, she should probably see if she’d hurt Kai with the man-handling… "uh, are you alright?"
