Wynonna Winters tell me reality is better than a dream. general info
appearance Wynonna is a rather slim girl, weighing around 96lbs and reaching the height of 5 feet 2 inches, an average height for her age. She has long, white hair that reaches all the way down to her ankles. She very rarely wears her hair up, preferring to leave it down. She prefers to wear darker clothes, but her wardrobe mostly consists of pastel colors, due to her caretakers always buying her colorful outfits, and rarely anything dark or dull. Her eyes are a bright azure which stand out against her pale skin. She always wears a pearl necklace, which was her mothers. In her seal form she is pure white. It is unknown if she will gain a darker coloration as she gets older, but for now her color is white as snow. She is void of any markings save for a darker brown area around her snout. She reaches 4 feet in length in this form and weighs around 200lbs. Much heavier than she is in her human form, but being in the water most of the time makes her feel lighter. personality
Wynonna is a shy girl, lacking basic social skills due to the fact that she grew up away from society. She has a hard time communicating with others, and can come off as very awkward and aloof. She is a very creative spirit, and a free-thinker. Despite growing older, she still has a very overactive imagination and several imaginary friends, whom she’d rather spend time with than real people. She feels no one else can understand her, so stays closed-off from the real world, preferring her own inner fantasies. These fantasies can be so vivid she has trouble denying them, believing many of them to be real. Despite her father disappearing years ago, she believes he is still out there, waiting for her to find him in a lost underwater city. She has a very strong connection to the ocean, and will do whatever it takes to protect it and it’s life. She has very little memory of her father, but one thing she remembers is how important taking care of the sea was to him. He had told her protecting the ocean’s sea life was their life’s mission. Due to this, she will often walk the beaches picking up trash others may have left behind. As a seal, Wynonna enjoys playing and splashing in the waves. All of her worries and cares seem to disappear under the sea, and she is free to be in the moment and enjoy herself. She’ll often do flips and tricks under the water, just for the fun of it, and comes across as very playful and carefree. Because she is a seal shifter, Wynnona is more often than not mistaken for a selkie which annoys her to no end. Even if her seal form resembles that of a selkie, she is indeed a shifter and not a selkie at all, and is very quick to correct people should they get that wrong. abilities Due to spending most of her life in her shifted form, Wynnona has mastered this ability. In seal form, she can swim more efficiently and nearly effortlessly. In this form, she can stay underwater for about 30 minutes and can dive about 1000 feet down, though she prefers shallow water most of the time. Collapsible lungs allow her to dive into the depths of the ocean. It takes about 30 seconds to shift to and from her seal form, and during this time she is vulnerable. Though she had trouble controlling her shifts when she was younger, she now has full control over when and where she shifts. Enhanced Senses - Natural Wynonna has slightly enhanced senses due to being a shifter, though they appear to not be as strong as others of her kind. Her sense of smell is her strongest sense, and due to this strong odors tend to bother her, especially perfumes. Enhanced strength - Beginner Wynonna tends to be slightly stronger than an average seal when she is shifted, though she definitely still has the capacity to grow in this area. Enhanced speed - Advanced Just like most seals, she is slow and inefficient on land when shifted, having to flop around on her belly. However, in the water, she can reach speeds of nearly 30mph, twice the speed of an average seal. Enhanced Endurance - Beginner As a shifter, she has enhanced endurance in her animal form. However, other shifters seem to have surpassed her in this ability, as it isn’t her most strong suit. Healing - Advanced Wynonna has the ability to heal within a few hours, a natural ability for her kind, she heals at about the average rate of most shifters. backstory Wynonna was born on an unpopulated island in Canada’s northern reaches. Her mother died during childbirth so she was raised by her father in her early years. She was given her mother's pearl necklace to wear, in memory of her, and as a reminder that she was with her at heart. They spent very little time as humans, and spent most of their time as seals, surviving in the wilds by hunting fish. They would often give thanks to the sea for supporting their needs, and vowed to protect it and its life. Her father had mentioned it was their life mission to do so, and they were sent from heaven to act as the ocean’s messengers. Unfortunately, her father disappeared when she was 4 years old, leaving her to be raised by her aunts. Though they lived on the island with her, they strongly believed there was a better life for Wynonna elsewhere. Her aunts had grown up in a city far south of where they were, so we're familiar with the hustle and bustle of human society. It wasn't til their later years they had moved to the island to be with their family. However, fear of change and Wynonna’s apparent love for the wild kept them put for many years, continuing to live in isolation on the icy island. When Wynonna was 11 years old her aunts finally got the courage to move down south where she could start school and have contact with the world beyond. However, her years in isolation had taken a huge toll on her social skills. During her time in isolation, she began to make friends with her own imagination. Specifically a group of imaginary friends who were aquatic mammal shifters, much like herself. She also formed the belief in a lost underwater city, which was the home of her imaginary friends. She believed her father was there waiting for her to come to join him, and this belief consumed her. It became apparent that even after moving, the girl would rather spend time with her imaginary friends than make real ones, despite her aunt's best efforts. During her time in Lorsette, Wynonna would put in minimal effort to find and keep friends. Even so, she was bound to have social encounters. The other kids at her school would always see her as a bit odd. The whispers she would overhear made her even wearier to start relationships, and more likely to escape into her fantasies. Still, she did what she could to keep her head up and move forward. Through her interactions, she was able to find a few things she enjoyed doing, such as volleyball, painting, writing and collecting seashells. She's clung to these few enjoyments for motivation. She was a quick learner, and when she put in the effort she was able to do really well in her classes. Even though her grades were good, her teachers became worried she was too distracted by her fantasies and urged her to concentrate on schooling instead. This annoyed her, and she refused to listen to them. Instead, Wynnona would let her grades slip, and to this day holds ill-will towards schooling. Overall though, Wynonna doesn't mind life in Lorsette. Society amuses her, and has introduced her to new hobbies. Though, it is not exciting enough to take her away from her fantasies or odd beliefs. She is overwhelmed with the idea of finding her father and the lost underwater city, often planning ideas to swim away, but never sticking to them. So in Lorsette she remains, for now. misc She usually goes by, and prefers to go by, Winnie. Though it isn’t her favorite name, it’s better than Wynonna which she finds to be too long. The nickname Winnie was given to her by her aunts. She has a very creative soul, and is good with paints especially. She enjoys painting animals and nature scenes the most. Being a shifter, she has a strong connection to animals and the natural world. Despite her lack of communication skills, animals seem to understand her just fine. She finds comfort in them, feeling they understand her better than people, which often seeps through into her art. Her favorite sport is volleyball. She will play it whenever she has the chance, as not many people are willing to play with her. Occasionally her aunts will play, though secretly hopes for a new friend group that will play with her. Being bad at making friends, however, seems to be standing in the way. She enjoys scary stories and gothic literature, finding a thrill in these stories she seems to lack in real life. They are able to pull her out of the mundane reality and into a world of mystery and thrills. They have inspired her to try writing, eventually finding her love for poetry. She’ll often write darker stories and poetry, but every so often she’ll write a special gem that shines with hope. Her seashell collection is quite extensive, from years of scouting the beach. She quite enjoys collecting shells, though now is starting to run out of room on her shelves. One of her favorite things about living in society is chocolate milk! She loves it! Wynonna likes to take care of aquatic creatures and aquariums. She has two axolotls at home she takes care of, an albino and a dark wild type named Salt and Pepper. Because of her fascination and love for the ocean, Wynnona hopes to one day become a marine biologist and help sea life and keeping the ocean healthy. Her most prominent imaginary friends are:
