Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.

Aristole had been making a trip into the city to drop off a plant that had been special ordered to a customer. It was spring and the plants were sprouting up just nicely and full of life. He couldn't help himself but to take a visit to the park to further witness the beauty of the plants. That and perhaps he could give a small nudge or two for some of the duller ones. He walked through the expanse of the park quietly, smiling as he watched people go about their business whether that be meeting up with friends, taking their families to play at the playground, or to even take pictures. Winter was gone and the weather had certainly warmed up enough for people to be out and about. It was nice, though he still preferred the nature out in the wilderness to people and with how polluted cities could be. At least while he was in the wilderness he was definitely in his, well, element. Pun not intended.
The Nymph paused as he got to some bushes with some flowers blooming on them, crouching down to better take a look at some. "Ah, such beautiful petals and leaves. Spring has definitely given you plenty of time to grow beautifully." He spoke gently towards the plant, reaching a hand out to gently brush the petals with a finger. A smiled and soft chuckle escaped the purple-haired man as the bush seemed to shiver slightly as if it were embarrassed, the petals where he touched curling slightly and seemingly gaining more color as that subtle action passed. Yes, he certainly enjoyed plants more than people. He stood after a few moments and idly smoothed out his clothing, his head turning to cast his attention elsewhere at the moment. Though his time within the city limits would not be long he would enjoy his small trip to the park to the fullest extent. At least as much as possible that is.
you caught me under false pretenses how long before you let me go?
she sighed softly as she didn't bother to pay attention to what was being said. it was another boring meeting over something that didn't pertain to her, but yet here she was being forced to listen. she looked at the clock and counted down the time she had left before she could leave. what if she just stood up and left? she could if she wanted all eyes on her. the only door in the meeting room was near the presenter.
yeah, she was going to have to pass. what seemed like an eternity later. the meeting had ended and it was time for lunch. which meant for her, it was time to leave. she would of felt bad for leaving her post, but it's not like she really did anything productive. half the time it just seemed like her father wanted her there to run errands.
before she made her escape, she changed out of her work clothes and into something more comfortable. a pair of jeans and a tee. the weather was warming up, but it was still a bit chilly for her. she put her sweater on as she walked out. she was out, but now what? she didn't feel like heading home just yet and she wasn't exactly hungry either. maybe a walk in the park would be nice. it had been awhile since she just took a minute to herself. she was sure the park would be in full bloom now. when she couldn't go on her normal hikes, a visit to the park did her good. one of these days she would have to plan a hike. maybe she could bring some food and have a picnic. she was lost in her thoughts and unaware that her shoe had become untied, until she stepped on it and caused herself to trip slightly.
she had reached the park, but had decided against walking on the main path. good thing too, she hoped no one saw her almost fall flat on her face. she sighed softly as she dusted her hands off and started to tie her shoe. at least she wasn't carrying anything. that would of not ended well.
Every time you meet someone, it's a chance to make a new friend. Lily used to have quite a few good friends throughout her life, even if most of them were far away now that she had moved here. Her eyes were closed as she soaked in the atmosphere of the park, before the presences of others made themselves known, and she opened her heterochromic eyes curiously, wondering who else might be out and about on such a lovely day. Rising from her perch, where she had been sunbathing, she gently meandered towards the others, a serene and kind smile upon her features. Turning eyes mismatched in color towards the male touching the flowers, Lily thought the scene almost looked like one from a painting or a movie, the gentleness in the way he was with nature itself, it settled her heart, especially after seeing how careless some could be.
"The flowers seem to really smile around you." Lily's voice is soft, gentle in it's arm tones, and her smile was truly genuine. Lily always loved the nature that was present in different places she had been, that being one of the biggest reasons she had become a florist, as she always had felt this urge within her to care for and nurture others. Taking care of others always seemed to be her true calling, though that occasionally lead to her not looking after herself as much if her time was divided. Was anyone else the same? Would she find anyone else like that? Lily didn't know for sure, but it seemed like she wouldn't be the only one like that.
The man's attention was pulled towards the soft voice of a woman, a smile crossing his face as he cast his blue gaze towards the plants. "Why thank you, though it is mostly just the work of these marvelous plants." He responded, his eyes moving back to the woman who had spoken to him. "It seems that you also have an appreciation to the plants. My name is Aristole Nightshade, I'm a florist." He spoke up, placing a hand on his chest lightly as he dipped his head. However, some movement caught his eye off to the side and his head turned to see a different woman seemingly fall before going to tie her shoe.
His head tilted to the side a little in what appeared to be concern before he glanced towards the woman who had spoken to him first. "Excuse me, I'm going to see if she is alright for a moment." He mentioned as he raised a hand to place it against the back of his neck with a slightly apologetic look crossing his face. It wasn't like he was wanting to be rude and go to someone else, he quite actually did enjoy how the woman seemed to appreciate the flowers. It would be rather interesting to chat further with her. Though his attention moved back over to the other woman and he stepped towards her a little. "Excuse me, are you alright?" He questioned her, stopping a foot or two away primarily out of spacial respect for the other.
After all, he was a stranger to both women and he wasn't about to go invading personal bubbles. Even if it was with good, or helpful, intentions. "Are you hurt anywhere?"
you caught me under false pretenses how long before you let me go?
she really had been hoping no one saw that. to her utter embarrassment someone had taken noticed. well at least they weren't laughing. she had finished tying her shoe and stood up dusting herself off. it wasn't really that bad. she managed to catch herself at an awkward angle. she nodded at his words."oh yes, i'm fine thank you."she told them with a smile. that was nice of him to come and see if she was alright.
she shook her head at his next question."it's nothing major. i just scraped the palms of my hands. really it doesn't even hurt."she told him with a nod. her palms were a little red, but it would go away with sometime."sorry i didn't mean to interrupt."she said as she looked towards the direction he had come from. then again he could of been by himself. he hadn't noticed him approach till he had spoken.
"It's nice to meet you Aristole. My name is Lily." She had been about to comment further, though the woman in the corner of her eyes and his swift movement over to her made her hold her tongue for now. She had been about to say she too, was a florist, and that it was a nice coincidence. Lily had always loved flowers, maybe then it made sense that she had been named as she was. She followed after Aristole more slowly and carefully, giving the woman a concerned look. Was she truly not injured?
She glanced at the woman's palms to see if she could see them, worrying that they might be a little more damaged than mentioned. "I'm happy that you didn't get hurt, but feel free to ask for help if you need it." Sometimes, things don't start to hurt right away. Either way it didn't matter too much, if she needed help later Lily would still help. It just reminded her a bit of the time she scraped her knee in her mother's garden, helping to pull out weeds. It had stung for a little but, but she had ultimately been fine.
He listened to her words of being fine, tilting his head to the sides slightly as he lowered his gaze to view her scraped hands. They were certainly red and her words were true in it being nothing too major. "Well that is good at least. I know a small trick to help scrapes heal faster, though unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any beehives around." He spoke up, smiling a little as he shook his head a little. Oh well, the woman would be fine though.
"In case you both are wondering what the trick is," he spoke up once more as he glanced towards both of the women in his current company, "all you need is some pure raw honey, such as straight from a beehive, and a bandage. Of course it is wise to clean the scrape first before applying a thin layer of the honey on top of it before bandaging it up. The honey acts as an antibacterial that works to prevent infection and to control inflammation." He explained with that friendly smile still on his face. It wasn't like he was trying to be a know-it-all or something but he figured it'd be a nice little fun fact of sorts for them to learn. If they hadn't already that is.
"Ah, apologies I appear to have forgotten to introduce myself to you. My name is Aristole Nightshade." He spoke once more, raising a hand to lightly place it on his chest with a small dip of his head towards the woman with the scraped hands. "Don't worry as well, you didn't interrupt. We were more than happy to come and see if you needed assistance." He added, lowering his hand away from his chest after his own greeting. "Aside from our meeting with one another," he paused briefly to glance towards Lily and the other woman to indicate he meant the three of them meeting, "it is a rather nice day to visit this park."
you caught me under false pretenses how long before you let me go?
she had thought she had been subtle with her fall. it's not like she tried to make a lot of noise. at least that hadn't been her intention. though it seemed that she had caught a few glances. these two were thankfully the only ones that approached her and she appreciated their concern. she continued to smile. it stung a little bit, but she would continue on and the pain would subside. she looked at the man curiously."a beehive?"she had to admit she had never heard of such a thing.
she nodded at his words. she was curious to know what this trick was. of course honey, now it all made sense. though she did not know honey could be used in such a way."that's really interesting. i shall keep that in mind next time i end up with a scrape."she told him with a smile. though hopefully it wouldn't' be any time soon. she shook her head at his apology."it's alright. it's nice too meet you both. i'm madelyn and i assure you i'm not always this clumsy."she added with a small laugh.
she smiled when she was told that she had not interrupted."i'm glad and thank you i appreciate it."she nodded in agreement. it really was a nice day. perfect for relaxing and soaking up some rays.
It seems as though Madelyn's scraped hands didn't hurt much, and Lily was relieved. Scrapes were better than other things, like blackened bruises and cuts. Lily could have healed her if she needed it, though it seems it was not necessary. "I knew honey was used for sore throats, but hadn't thought to use it in that way." How had she not thought of that? It made sense now that she thought about it, but hindsight is always a beast of it's own.
Honey tasted good, and was one of her favorite things to treat herself to. "It's lovely to meet you as well Madelyn, my name is Lily." Her voice is as gentle and genuine as her smile, as she returns the greeting. Maybe from birth she had been destined to love nature, as her own name had been derived from it. Had her family known somehow? It wouldn't make sense if they had, it seemed like too romantic a coincidence to be true. "I agree, it's perfect weather. Not many slow down to talk these days."
Aristole was pleased that his words on the scrape remedy had been taken in interest by both women, a gentle smile crossing his face once more. "I don't really live in the city or suburbs here, so there are plenty of natural beehives off in the forest." He spoke up, soon turning his head a little to scan his eyes over some movement that caught his eye. Of course it was nothing worth taking much notice to seeing how it was simply just a couple of people walking a little ways away.
He turned his gaze back to his two current companions and tilted his head to the side slightly. "I'm glad that the three of us were able to meet, although I'm sure your hand would beg to differ, Madelyn." He mentioned with a soft chuckle, his hands moving to rest at his sides. "Before we ran into one another, were you both busy or on your way somewhere?" He asked in a curious manner, more so because he did not want to keep either woman from getting to where they probably needed to go. After all, that would have just been rude, right?
you caught me under false pretenses how long before you let me go?
madelyn nodded at his words. it made sense, the further away from nature people were. the more nature seemed to thrive. the city was nice and all, but just like aristole. she wished she could be closer to nature. how lucky he was to enjoy the peace and quiet. it wasn't like she couldn't go out to the woods and such. she basically spent most of her free time outside as much as possible.
she smiled and nodded. it was nice to meet them. they had worried about her when they didn't have to."it was bound to happen."she said with a small laugh."me falling i mean. not to say i'm that clumsy."had she noticed her shoe lace was coming undone she could of avoided the fall. she shook her head at his question. she had managed to cut her day short at the office once again. which was nice, it's not like the company would fall apart if she wasn't there.
she wasn't interested in business. no matter how many times she'd tell her father, he simply wouldn't listen. he'd go on and on about how this was good experience for someone as young as her."nope. i was just out for a walk. it's such a lovely day."
Well, what they say really was true - everyone you meet can teach you something new. ”That sounds like a lovely place to live honestly. The closest I can get is mini gardens in the windowsill.” She smiled warmly, hoping that maybe she might finally make some new friends. Now that she learned this information, she was curious to try and see just how well it worked.
She nodded a little, her face still having a smile on it, but her eyes still reflected concern. ”I’m just happy that you’re not hurt badly. You could have sprained something.” After he speaks again, she shakes her head. ”I wasn’t up to anything in particular. Just enjoying the weather.” A gentle breeze tugged at her hair as her mismatched eyes gazed warmly at her companions.
Aristole nodded to their responses, smiling as he was glad that he had not interrupted either of their day. "I see! I happened to have some free time after dropping off an order for a client. I don't go into the city often and the park looked rather lovely to pay a visit to." He spoke up, enjoying the social interaction he was getting after bumping into both women. "If I may inquire, what do you two intend on doing for the time here?" He questioned them, naturally curious on what his newfound companions would be doing; without ill intentions of course. "I believe I shall spend some more time here at the park, though I must say I am not sure what I will do next before I must return home." He spoke up, offering his own potential plans for the day.
you caught me under false pretenses how long before you let me go?
she was so fortunate to meet such nice people. she laughed softly."me too, knowing my luck i'm surprised i didn't."even though she had just said she wasn't usually that clumsy. though there had been times she took a wrong step and ended up hurting herself. luckily it had just been an untied shoelace, which was a bit more embarrassing.
she nodded at aristole commented what he was planning to do. she had escaped work and really hadn't planned that far ahead, well besides a quick walk."nice, you own your own business."she asked though it sounded more like a statement."maybe i'll get something to eat. i was thinking ice cream or something. i really don't have much planned."
Days for the familiar were often easy and not very full of business, a relaxed sort of atmosphere she often enjoyed. Peaceful days were something she was more inclined to appreciate, hold as precious memories in her chest. Still, company on such a fine day as this was a pleasant surprise. It wasn’t often chance meetings happened, or at least, not ones such as this. Today was certainly a day to cherish, that was for sure!
”I was going to soak in the atmosphere here for a bit to he honest...After that I was probably going home for the day. I find that it’s a good relaxation routine for me.” The feline familiar was really inclined to more peaceful times, ready to put chaotic events behind her. She had had enough for a lifetime, she thinks. So she would devote her days to sunbathing, and taking care of flowers.
