Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

Summer 2024
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
Since the wonderful members of TDOM enjoy the site enough to play around on it, this thread is to assist with the site's tidying! Functionality is important and we want to make the site functional even if its activity will be minimal at best!
Distractions were a common existence in Nathan's life, particularly when it involved a certain attractive blond. Those magnificent eyes entranced the young vampire, inspiring him to instead please his boyfriend with endless amounts of attention. It felt natural given the number of positive memories Tristan showered him in. From remembering his birthday to snuggling beneath the covers inside the green-haired boy's room. In short, the human managed to make the lonesome vampire feel loved and supported throughout their relationship.
[break][break]
Hours passed after he brought his precious Tristan home, snuggling and general romantic actions being taken towards his precious boyfriend. Beneath the warm covers, Nathan laid, enjoying the company of the man he adored most. After the worrying circumstances that initially prompted him to rush towards the TRS in a maddened panic, he felt affectionate. The blond was beyond important to Nathan, therefore, he felt required to treat him well. The vampire stretched a little as he snuggled his boyfriend, grinning as he reminded himself of everything he accomplished.
[break][break]
The vampire revelled in his accomplishments, eyes closing as he enjoyed the closeness. Rescued Tristan from his little injury, exercised a bit and trained his apprentice... DEMETRIA WAS STILL DOWNSTAIRS! Abruptly, Nathan's eyes shot open as he sat up from his position. Quickly, he escaped the bed, grabbing clothes and dressing him in his uniform.
[break][break]
"I LEFT MY APPRENTICE DOWNSTAIRS! Stay in bed, honey! I have to go wrap up training!" Nathan explained in hurried, somewhat loud words.
[break][break]
Slightly dishevelled, Nathan hurried out the door, closing it behind him. Quickly, he moved through the house, weaving around servants and zipping down the stairs. Eventually, he reached the threshold to the basement, heading downstairs to find Demetria. The male vampire glanced around, looking for his apprentice and discovering her, thankfully still inside the basement.
[break][break]
"Okay, back to training!" Nathan declared.
[break][break]
An explanation was not provided for his apprentice, instead, he decided they would immediately return to training. There was plenty that needed to get finished, therefore, the session would continue. One fact was confirmed, Demetria was not required to be provided knowledge of everything he accomplished while she was down here... Specifically his time spent having fun with his handsome, blond boyfriend.
Demetria had become free, debating on going after Nathan or choosing to stay in the basement a bit longer. She had noticed the different objects and started to train, determined for this time to not be wasted. What she had believed would be only a few minutes had turned into hours. She wouldn't forgive him for leaving her in the middle of training, however, it did give her a chance to become familiar with training on her own, which in her mind wasn't a bad idea. The basement door had been touched, opening before footsteps could be heard. She could only assume it was Nathan since he owed her for ditching, or perhaps wishing for it to be him had been somewhat of a false. She paused her training to glare at him, "Where the hell were you and what the hell do you think I've been doing this whole damn time?" She snapped, before suddenly moving towards him with the plan on resuming their sparring match from earlier.
For a young man hardly familiar with love, Tristan easily distracted his mind. The handsome blond operated similar to a drug, addictive and intoxicating, resulting in forgetfulness with past activities. Yet, complaints would not be registered considering how much he enjoyed his intimate interaction with Tristan. Magnificent Tristan, the greatest boyfriend through all the dimensions and Nathan would stand beside that. All the wonderful things the man accomplished for him made the green-haired man endlessly grateful.
[break][break]
As the male vampire entered the basement, guilt was nonexistent. He adored Tristan's company, thus remorse was impossible to feel after pleasing his precious boyfriend. Naturally, his troublesome apprentice was displeased with his abrupt disappearance. The attitude Demetria exhibited brought Nathan to a decision, he would not be informing her about the fact he had... some couples fun with Tristan. He watched as she closed the distance, snapping at him throughout her approach. The green-haired vampire rolled his eyes.
[break][break]
"I had a family emergency, cool it Prissy," Nathan condescendingly returned, crossing his arms. "Anyways, we will pick up where we left off, got it?!"
[break][break]
With those words, Nathan walked further into the gymnasium. Long strides carried the green-haired vampire to the sparring chamber they were before he left. The situation involving the phantom pains had frightened the young hunter, his boyfriend meaning everything to him. Assuring his injuries were treated was beyond important, hence the rush towards the TRS headquarters, although, Demetria also did not require the knowledge of it merely being a splinter.
Demetria listened as Nathan walked away from her, heading back towards the chamber they had been in only moments prior. "FAMILY EMERGENCY?" She shouted, staying in her spot instead of following him inside. If that were true, why the hell is he back here? He should be with the person that needs him the most. She thought to herself before pointing back up the stairs, "YOU SHOULD BE WITH THEM THEN, NOT FOCUSED ON ME!" She snapped, angry that he had left, but more angry he had come back when family should come first in the matter. She wasn't aware it had been a lie but the answer he had given only fueled her motivation to not follow him into the chamber. "Take the time off." She answered, turning away from him to head back up the stairs, planning on leaving instead of following his orders.
Sensitivity was something Nathan lacked after losing two people he was extremely close with. Thus, the excuse of "family emergency" was not viewed as anything severe. It implied anything in his opinion, even something as simple as somebody complaining they did not have their favoured blood type for a pleasant beverage. In this case, it involved his darling boyfriend accidentally getting a splinter from a despicable TRS target stand! THEY SHOULD THROW THEM AWAY TO AVOID INJURING PEOPLE LIKE HIS PRECIOUS TRISTAN!
[break][break]
The scout's delicate, soft skin was punctured by a splinter, summoning pain and POSSIBLE INFECTION to burden his dearest. Nothing should be warranted the opportunity to harm his precious Tristan. When he walked further into the room, Nathan was not expecting the outburst that escaped Demetria's lips. She shouted at the excuse he provided her, declaring how he should be spending time with said family member... Technically, the family emergency ended when Tristan got treated and his injury given some disinfectant.
[break][break]
The green-haired hunter listened to Demetria, rolling his eyes before glancing over his shoulder. His yellow-green eyes noticed her turning towards the stairs with intentions of leaving. An annoyed groan escaped Nathan's lips, he swore Demetria was an over-emotional, prissy princess!
[break][break]
"It's resolved, the person is fine now. So cool it," Nathan responded with slight tones of irritation. "It wasn't some major issue, so let's finish your training, okay?"
[break][break]
He turned to face her, arms crossed and eyes narrowed into a glare. Knowing Demetria, she would stubbornly refuse to believe him in Nathan's opinion of the redheaded woman. She rarely listened, thus, why would she start now?!
Demetria had turned towards the stairs to leave. "I'm sure they are..." She answered Nathan in return before moving to walk up stairs. "However, I view a family emergency more than just some brush off..." She answered him in return, "So since you aren't willing to take the training time off. I'll leave. You'll be forced to take it off at that point. I was training for hours while you handled the situation.... so unlike you, I could use a break. So excuse me." She answered in a sarcastic tone as she knew that if he truly planned on continuing their training, there would be no way in hell he'd allow her to leave until he was good and ready, however, she was preparing for him to make a move, waiting so that she could counter with one of her own. She took a step onto the stairs, walking up them, waiting for him to make his move.
As expected, Demetria displayed a hellish stubbornness that, as always, caused an endless slew of problems. An annoyed growl escaped Nathan's throat as his yellow-green eyes narrowed at the redheaded woman. The long-haired vampire was so problematic 90% of the time! What even made her decide she wanted to join the TRS?! Her prissy princess attitude would never allow her to last long in the job. Arms were crossed as the green-haired man watched his stubborn, obnoxious apprentice attempt to leave her training session.
[break][break]
THIS WAS SO STUPID! He listened to Demetria's declaration of an emergency, even a false one, should not be brushed off! Everything about the damn situation was ridiculous! She began walking up the basement stairs filled to the brim with attitude and strong-willed beliefs. The redheaded woman decided Nathan was required to take time off because of her opinions on his personal problems. An exasperated groan escaped his throat, loud and audible as he stomped towards the stairwell, annoyance on his brow.
[break][break]
"GET BACK DOWN THESE DAMN STAIRS," Nathan shouted at his stubborn apprentice. "IT WAS PRACTICALLY NOTHING!"
[break][break]
In Nathan's opinion, his apprentice was probably using his dumb excuse to slack off! The green-haired man followed up the stairs, planning to grab Demetria's arm and drag her back down. They needed to finish today's training for Volos' sake!
Demetria chose to run the remainder of the stairs, annoyed that Nathan was brushing off this family emergency as if it were nothing. She made her way around the house, heading in the direction that she had come from when Nathan had first lead her inside before pausing when she noticed Tristan walking from the kitchen and towards the stairs. "Hey, can you do me a favor?" She called out, earning Tristan's attention in the process. "Explain to Nathan the seriousness behind family emergency, would you?" She asked, being hopeful until she saw the small smile on his face. "What?" She found herself confused before noticing his hand and the fact that he had waved at her before heading up the stairs and towards the bedroom. Was that who got injured? I'm not changing my answer on the subject... She thought to herself, suddenly turning around, she faced Nathan who had followed her up stairs. "Explain yourself!"
At times, Nathan wondered how people handled apprentices, especially with how obnoxious they could be! The redhead's requirements to create difficulties made dealing with her a chore! Was there another class she needed to score 100% called "How to annoy the living shit out of your mentor"?! SHE WAS DEFINITELY SUCCEEDING WITH HER PRISSY ATTITUDE PROBLEM! Among many classes this stupid trainee could pass, it would be accomplishing irksome towards those attempting to better her! She needed to work alongside her fellow hunters to succeed in a battle.
[break][break]
With a vexed grumble, he tromped up the stairs to attempt to catch up to Demetria. Naturally, the woman was adamant about her opinions without any hesitation. There was nothing about the "family emergency" that was revealed! Therefore, her assuming the person was currently hospitalized and struggling was ABSURD! Gradually, Nathan closed in on Demetria... Alas, only moments later did the long-haired woman decided to sprint up the stairs and escape down the hallway. Infuriation crawled onto Nathan's countenance as he watched Demetria's ridiculous action.
[break][break]
"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!" The vampire impulsively shouted.
[break][break]
An annoyed growl escaped Nathan's throat after his infuriated outburst. Why did she have to be so unbelievably stubborn?! The green-haired hunter chased after her, enhanced speed activating. He wanted to catch her and throw her back down those bloody stairs! As he approached from behind her, Demetria turned and demanded an explanation.
[break][break]
"EXPLAIN WHAT?!" Nathan shouted in return.
[break][break]
The male vampire had narrowly missed the interaction between his boyfriend, Tristan, and his strong-willed apprentice. An expression of intermingling emotions conquered Nathan's face as he scowled at Demetria. Anger proved the most prominent, however, cracks of confusion were barely noticeable. Next time, the full-fledged hunter would adamantly refuse to take an apprentice... this idiotic excuse of a training session just confirmed it.
Demetria rolled her eyes at Nathan before pointing in the direction Tristan had come from. "He was your family emergency, wasn't he?" She asked, tired of all the yelling but her face shown she was clearly displeased with the way he was acting towards her. "Explain to me." She started, wanting to make sure that she was understood on the subject, as to avoid any possible confusion. "Why you went back down stairs to try and continue training with me when you should be up there with him?" She snapped, hands on her hips as she waited for the answer that was most likely going to annoy her. She didn't care what relationship they had, she could understand the reason for why he had left, but couldn't understand why he was trying to train her now instead of spending time with Tristan.
His failure to capture a glimpse of Tristan left Nathan questioning what Demetria could potentially be upset with him over. Knowing his apprentice, it would LITERALLY be ANYTHING! The woman was a priss without hesitation and would undoubtedly have a ridiculous reason for being upset! WHY DID THAT OLD FART DECIDE HE WOULD BE THE MOST SUITABLE MENTOR FOR DEMETRIA?! The vampire crossed his arms, a scowl spreading across his brow as he glared at Demetria, waiting for her response. The troublesome apprentice was difficult to handle!
[break][break]
Unfortunately, the explanation Demetria desired was related to a discovery she was not supposed to find... After the redheaded woman mentioned him being the family emergency, one thing became obvious... Tristan had descended the steps to fetch a beverage or perhaps a light snack, meaning, his excuse was obliterated. The vampire flinched, arms abandoning their crossed position to return to his sides. He glanced away from Demetria, preparing for her idiotic reprimanding in regards to his actions and abandoning her in the basement.
[break][break]
The woman began stating what she wanted to be explained and throughout it, Nathan remained silent. He expected harshness in her words and the beginnings of a verbal brawl... until Demetria stated what she wanted an explanation for. The green-haired vampire's eyes snapped back onto her, bewilderment in those yellow-green hues.
[break][break]
"... I'm your mentor... It's my job, besides, Tristan is comfy up there and wrapping up training would not take long! What I don't get is why you aren't mad I wasn't down there sooner?! What the hell is wrong with you?!" Nathan responded, snapping at the end.
[break][break]
The full-fledged hunter was thoroughly confused about the matter. Among his duties as a hunter was training Demetria, therefore, he thought he would be considered in the wrong for dealing with Tristan's splinter and... having some special time with him. This prissy woman was beyond strange, however, Nathan hardly cared if he could skirt by without hassle.
Demetria ignored Nathan face expression, acting all tough like usual when he just got done saying he had a family emergency. It was somewhat surprising to see him like this, did he really value training her that he couldn't take a break to spend time with Tristan instead? Of course she didn't know how little the injury had been, but she frankly didn't care, she still got some training in so it was fine. Clearly he wasn't sure what she wanted so she would have to spell it out for him. "That is none of your business. Go spend time with him and I'll be back tomorrow for some more training. If you aren't up, I'll just do it without you and decide when I'm up for the task of moving to the next level." She answered, turning her back to him. If it were my family, I'd take the time off.... He has no excuse, he should be with him. Besides he already made me wait, I'm tired and want to relax at home. She thought to herself before turning to look back towards Nathan.
"I'll be back around 8:30AM or so... so if I don't see you, no hard feelings, I'll train alone and go from there." She answered before walking away from him to head home. She chose to call her siblings while on her way home, enjoying her time with them. Later she spent the rest of her day relaxing before heading to bed early so that she'd be on time for training with Nathan. She showered before getting dressed before heading over to his house. Upon arrival, she knocked on the door, the servant allowed her inside and she made her way to the basement for more training, curious on if Nathan planned on being there or not.
Certain women proved to be impossible to understand! Despite informing Demetria it was a meagre false alarm, she proved persistent to cease their training session. Between narrowed eyelids, Nathan glared at the infuriatingly stubborn redhead. She just had to decide everything despite HIM holding the prestigious role of mentor. The green-haired hunter knew he should have suspected something the second Lieutenant Orville “Asshole” Redenbacher informed him of his teaching position. The old fart enjoyed torturing him and bringing about misery wherever Nathan drew breath!
[break][break]
The male vampire rolled his eyes as Demetria spoke, demanding him to spend time with his boyfriend. Did Nathan possess complaints over the command? No. His endless admiration and love for Tristan made those moments blissful. An annoyed groan left the full-fledged hunter’s lips as the woman decided on what would happen. The green-haired vampire crossed his arms and scowled at the redhead complaining about his choices. She stated she would return at 8:30am and walked away, Nathan allowed her to leave.
[break][break]
“Fine! Whatever!” He shouted behind her.
[break][break]
From there, he turned on a heel, trotting up the stairs and towards his bedroom. If his apprentice was going to be complainative and stubborn, then he would reward himself with further intimate time with Tristan. Through the remainder of the day, Nathan flirted with his boyfriend, treated him with saccharine sweetness, snuggled him and showered him in endless attention. A small splinter allowed for his terrific moment between him and his boyfriend, and he would not squander it.
[break][break]
-------------------------
[break][break]
During the early hours of the morning, Nathan dragged himself from Tristan’s snuggles and the comfort of his bed for training. Blessed days sleeping until noon were mourned for a moment as Nathan dressed himself in his TRS uniform. A quick kiss was accomplished to Tristan’s forehead as he tucked his precious boyfriend back under the covers. Afterwards, he left the bedroom and headed downstairs to further the training session. Upon her arrival, a servant notified Nathan through the communication system throughout the manor.
[break][break]
Thus he waited, listening as she descended the steps and entered the basement. He looked at her, arms crossed and face stern.
[break][break]
“So, are we going to train or are you going to preach about how I should not be here?” Nathan asked upon her arrival.
[break][break]
Yesterday was filled with those complaints, endless amounts that refused to cease. Unfortunately, he doubted they would leave this morning... Undoubtedly, he would be subjected to more of Demetria’s endless complaining; she never stopped!
Demetria found Nathan downstairs, having been waiting on her. "Do you want me to preach for why you shouldn't be done here?" She asked, folding her arms to glare back at him. "If you haven't figured that much out already, maybe you should spend more time getting to know me instead of using your damn logic. I'm a family person, so of course I'm going to tell you to take the damn time off since you had already done it earlier anyway. Had you been straight forward I would have continued my training as I had done without question. You clearly need to sort out your priorities and quit treating me as if I'm some burden. I came to save lives, not listen to you bark about your excuses when you feel defensive about what you believe I'd say about your actions." She finished before moving passed him.
"However, if you aren't here to train me, I'll be going back upstairs for some real training because I'm done with all of your toys down here. The only challenge left is you and that blood manipulation that I plan on learning." She glared at him, having hinted to go out of her way to meet a Terror to attack it. Though it was bad for apprentices to take on such actions alone, she didn't want to burden him with her presence if Tristan needed him. "And for the record, you asked. Had you not, the subject would have been dropped and we'd have started by now." She finished, waiting for his counter.
Omg, Nathan. >.> You became passionate about Demetria possibly dying from being reckless and making her siblings sad.

With slightly lidded eyes, Nathan glared at the redheaded apprentice. He expected another of her obnoxious lectures she happily provided yesterday because according to Demetria she knew everything. Therefore, Nathan had rotten expectations about what Demetria would do. The prissy princess attempted to commandeer previous situations, thus why would she not attempt similar now?! Even when he informed her it was actually a minor incident, she still proceeded to inform him about how WRONG he was to be in that basement.
[break][break]
Yet, Nathan could not provide a thorough complaint considering he received the marvellous reward of some precious Tristan time. His lover always managed to inspire jubilation for the regularly grumpy male vampire. Crossed arms were returned, his comment displeasing his apprentice once again; admittedly, he expected. An inaudible, exaggerated sigh of annoyance breezed through Nathan's lips as he preemptively entered the process of rolling his eyes. Demetria was bound to lecture him in a long, infuriating tangent about his behaviour being unreasonable.
[break][break]
He listened to the stubborn female's ridiculous words as she informed him of how SHE should be treated. Disinterest entered Nathan's eyes as he watched her, yellow-green eyes following. When he finished, he stared at her directly, eyes unwavering as they turn stern.
[break][break]
"Shut up with the stupid moralistic rambles!" Nathan snapped at her before continuing. "You can tell me how much of a family person you are and act like Little Miss Saintly, but I can tell you the only person I actually care about is Tristan. He was fine, if he said he needed me yesterday, I would have damn well cancelled training! So stop acting like you know everything about me!"
[break][break]
Frequently, Nathan hated those stupid behaviours when people acted seraphical with their choices, as though their moral high horse was higher than a fucking mountain! Circumstance inspired decision and in the green-haired vampire's mind, this woman who knew him for a maximum of a few months had NO RIGHT to command his life. When Demetria mentioned training, the alternative option offered a glare back. He listened as she continued, proclaiming how the only thing left was blood manipulation and if untaught she would be a reckless idiot.
[break][break]
Her stating a record hardly bothered her, but the ridiculous behaviours she demonstrated irritated him.
[break][break]
"You know, you just preached about being a family person only to follow it up with," he paused a moment to heighten the pitch of his voice to mimic Demetria. "'But I will totally go terror hunting alone and make my family cry cause my reckless stupidity got me killed or badly injured.'"
[break][break]
The green-haired vampire's eyes hardened on her as he fixated, displeased with Demetria's foolish ultimatum. There was a chance he would teach her to merely get rid of her, but he was not impressed.
[break][break]
"Do you really think that is what will help them?! Cause here is another fun fact, if you die in your first fight, you save fucking no one Princess. So get off your stupid high horse! Do you want to be another casualty or injury?! BECAUSE IT ISN'T FUCKING PRETTY!
[break][break]
The full-fledged hunter harboured anger towards his apprentice's blatant disregard for her safety. For once, Nathan could speak from a place of sensitivity. He kept breaks in his attitude at bay, but he experienced losing a sibling. Experienced watching as his brother sacrificed everything to keep him safe. All those years ago, he was reckless and got somebody else killed for his insolence. The vampire's fists were clenched as he stared at her, jaw clenched and traits of anger more fiery than usual. There was a portion of him that cared hidden beneath those emotions.
[break][break]
He would be damned if he allowed somebody to experience the pain he did losing Donovan. The hot tears streaming without end, the dire news... the eerie funeral facing the tombstone of somebody beloved... HE WOULD NOT LET THAT HAPPEN!
[break][break]
"If you want to learn, start with remembering this is a goddamn team," he pointed at her. "Cause I can tell you, nobody enjoys seeing someone they care about fucking die. So if you care about your family, you make sure you're ready before you go out in that damn field!"
[break][break]
To emphasize, he pointed up at where the theoretical field would be. His eyes remained locked on Demetria as he spoke for a few moments before he moved towards the larger opening of the arena. No further words would be exchanged if she wished to sign an application of death and leave, she was welcomed to. If she wanted to learn, she would follow him towards the field instead of jabbering on about how she would go fight a terror when she was unprepared. Never did Nathan consider his work with the TRS a joke or something to display endless stupidity in.
[break][break]
Even when he was influenced by anger and edginess, he avoided death, he adhered to the plans of his teammates. Then when Tristan became a significant person in his life? He tried harder to survive every day so he could return home to him. He did not want his boyfriend to endure the sadness of losing a loved one, therefore, Nathan fought hard and worked towards assisting alongside his fellow man. He did it for the man he loved more than anything in the world.
