Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
Juvia may have retired but she always managed to find herself wandering back here. Curious about the going ons even though she is only a benefactor now. She wanted to see the AP win this war, with the hope that she'd get more test subjects. Or wait, to see other researchers gain more test subjects. It was very difficult to give it up even though she wasn't as young as she used to be. Though she looked young, she was quite old and it was time to pass the torch to a younger generation. It wouldn't stop her from stopping by to see how things were doing with a small hope of them needing assistance from her however. As she wandered around she made her way towards the labs to check on things, meet up with those who were inspired by her work. It seemed everything was in good hands and so she departed from the AP HQ and wandered outside for a bit, with the hope of finding something or somebody interesting. I wonder what will happen today. She thought to herself as she moved towards the side of the building, choosing at this time to watch people come and go.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]Father insisted the Assembly of Phantoms had the Dahmer Family’s best interest at heart, however, Luciano was uncertain about that concept. Alas, the benevolence displayed by his father years ago prompted the blue-haired siren to swear his loyalty to the Assembly until further notice. Without his father, Luciano would have had nowhere to go after his mother’s arrest. A victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy and his mothers... inappropriate expectations, the siren was a fragile young boy when he arrived on his father’s doorstep.
Gradually, he was repaired, stitched together from the kindness and stability of a proper household. They provided him a life, placed him on the proper course and even managed to grant him an occupation with the Assembly of Phantoms. Life had moved on since his childhood and Luciano found himself as a capable adult with a small home of his own and a full-time job. If anything, they were saviours after the horrible circumstances of Luciano’s early upbringing. Therefore, the informant would accomplish his job until his debt would be repaid.
Therefore, in the early hours of the morning, Luciano roused and gathered his notes. The information was maintained in a notebook, days of precious data collected in a single book. Upon his waking, the blue-haired man gathered his clothes, a white dress shirt accompanied by black dress pants. Nothing particularly fancy, but enough to create the business-esk vibe the Assembly informant desired. After his preparations, he grabbed his keys, shoved his phone in his pocket and tucked the notebook beneath his arm.
Quietly, Luciano walked into the Ivory Woods, following the paths towards the infamous fortress that housed the Assembly of Phantoms. Spring festered in the trees, birds innocently chirping and animals scurrying beneath the brush. The young siren walked, frequently enjoying the exercise provided. Since leaving his mother behind, Luciano prided himself in forging the popular definition of the male body. Muscular, but not to the exaggerations of a bodybuilder. It distanced him from the instances where his mother enforced girlie clothing... He despised that!
The pleasant walk proceeded, Luciano, attempting nothing particularly exhausting in his excursion. Showing up to work drenched in sweat never helped anybody! Through the birch trees, he walked, eventually breaking through to discover the stone walls of an ancient, albeit, mighty fortress. The informant paused a moment, admiring the long-standing fortress before approaching. This was his destination of work, the Assembly headquarters. Each step carried him towards repaying the debt to his father for caring about him.
As Luciano approached, his blue eyes caught glimpse of a purple-haired woman. Her locks were bound in a braid, a peculiar mark of a similar colour beneath her right cheek. Never had his eyes laid witnessed to this member of the Assembly, therefore they furrowed in curiosity. Out of precaution, Luciano's course differed to approach the stranger to verify her identity.
"Excuse me?" He began to gain her attention. "May I ask your name?"
Politeness was maintained throughout the interaction. Unfamiliarity impart prompted his reaction, although, should she be an ally it was warranted. Besides, only the gods could preemptively dictate if somebody would abruptly lash out in anger. The blue-haired siren was hardly capable in combat, thus, he preferred avoiding it.
Juvia noticed Luciano wandering towards the building, she had been there a few minutes having seen people come and go. Besides some stares, nobody had bothered to approach her. This would be fine though, to her surprise, Luciano had chosen to approach her. "My name?" She asked before starting a giggling fit, as if the question had been super funny and she wasn't able to contain herself. "You may ask." She answered in a teasing manner, knowing exactly what Luciano's question had been but saw no reason to hold back in teasing him in the process. Seeing as they have never met each other before, it seemed only fitting that she would start on a teasing spree. Luciano just seemed like the type of person that would be easy to tease and she enjoyed being around those types of people, well and her research, it was too bad she had retired. "What is your name?" She countered the question back in Luciano's direction, still attempting to tease him even though she was serious about gaining the answer.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]The entire intention of requesting the woman's name was to verify her identity. Several possibilities were available given the situation placed upon the Assembly of Phantoms as an organization. The woman could be a nosy Terror Response Syndicate spy, a genuine member or even a reporter searching for their dream scoop among with a variety of other options! It was limitless given the operations carried out by the Assembly, therefore, Luciano was keen on discovering the name the woman would submit. She could potentially lie, but at least he could receive some confirmation.
Naturally, the woman had noticed his approach given the lack of interaction she was receiving and the low traffic area where she stood. Perhaps others recognized her visage, however, Luciano did not possess similar knowledge and therefore wanted to gather it. What if his presumption about his coworkers knowing her identity was incorrect? The purple-haired woman could escape with valuable information capable of uprooting the plans of the Assembly. Somebody needed to do something to assure nothing of that calibre would occur!
The woman's unexpected laughter at his inquiry summoned bewilderment onto Luciano's face. It would be shortly followed by the slight narrowing of his eyes. She stated he could ask, suggesting she would shortly provide the information he sought, alas, he would be mistaken. As he patiently waited for an answer, she returned the question, never giving her name to the suspicious siren. The serious blue-haired man's face turned stern as he glared at the mysterious stranger.
"I requested yours first," he countered back.
Providing his name first was not even on the table of options! If his suspicions were correct, than difficulties would be created in his informant duties! Therefore, he refused to be the initial provider of information in this sketchy situation.
Juvia couldn't help but giggle after refusing to give Luciano her name. It was his face expression, so amusing to her that she was unable to help herself. She had then redirected the question in his direction, smug grin on her face when he countered back to her. "Alias then." She answered, daring him to give her one. I wonder if he'll refuse or lie about it... I doubt he'd give me a truthful answer. He seems too smart for that. She thought to herself as she leaned against the wall. "What will you do as soon as you hear my name? Go about your business?" She asked before giggling once more. Going about his business.... Seeing as he had bothered to pay attention to her, this must have just become his business, therefore if she were to drag this out for a long time, she'd get plenty of attention from this one. Oh if he only he knew that she was truly one with AP, but she didn't want to lose him just yet, so playing with him was her only option at this point.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]The siren's face twisted into a scowl as his eyes narrowed and locked on the purple-haired stranger. The woman was peculiar and determined to be cryptic throughout their interaction. These were the types he considered unbearable to handle! People who felt high and mighty, believing they could foolish do anything they wished without a consequence befalling them! Or at least, that was the manner Luciano interpreted via their interactions. At times, the blue-haired informant was prone to over-reacting because of his serious characteristics.
Being on Assembly of Phantoms property was not a joking matter! The sheer presence of this woman made gathering her information a crucial requirement in Luciano's mind. The last thing he desired was for his name to venture through media channels, making it impossible for him to infiltrate the public eye for information. When the woman requested an alias, the siren flinched because of his lack of one. He found few informants held an alias, one of the more infamous being their head of information, Lady Swan. Then there was the notoriety of the soldier and informant, the Puppet Master who nobody knew the true identity of.
He remained silent as the woman proceeded, perhaps out of formality or in reaction to his answer in the form of a flinch. She mentioned the aftermath of gathering his information, causing a soft raise of a brow.
"Well, it depends if you are welcomed here," he explained, tone maintaining a neutral vibe.
The siren crossed his arms, a shielded gaze coating his purple eyes as he regarded the stranger. It was obvious the informant was displeased with the situation, however, refused to step down. A detriment to the mission meant the deterioration of crucial plans! Therefore, he would defend the Assembly's goals with everything he had... which unfortunately was limited, but he would try.
Juvia was pleased to see Luciano's scowl, "Why so serious?" She asked, giggling because she found him amusing. "You want to know if I'm welcome here?" She asked in return with a smirk on her lips. "Only one way to find out." She answered before suddenly rushing inside AP HQ. She'd peek behind herself to see if he was following behind her, the last thing she wanted to do was risk ditching him. They had only just met after all. So far nobody was in the halls, making a clear path for her as she continued onward. Come on now.... take my bait and keep up. She thought to herself as she continued running down the hall. You'd think for her, she should take it easy but that was never an option in her books and she wasn't about to start right now. If he chose to follow her, she'd pause just outside her lab.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]Guards were supposed to be the individuals charged with maintaining the safety of the Ivory Fortress. Their entire occupation was based around the notion of preserving those within and the information they held. Yet, Luciano stood in front of this obnoxious purple-haired woman attempting to gather whether or not she was an ally or an intruder. Unfortunately, the braided-haired nuisance decided she did not wish to indulge him in the information he desperately required! Rather, she played these absurd games as though she was a child frolicking through a safe meadow of flowers and this portion was pretend!
There was nothing silly about the situation! A war raged between the Assembly of Phantoms and the Terror Response Syndicate where people perished beneath the weighted steps of merciless battling. When inquired about his serious nature, Luciano's scowl deepened. Why be serious?! Seriousness was imperative during these ventures to conquer the opposition! As members of an organization at war, their moves required to be measured and cautious! Over-exerting forces and receiving a long list of casualties assisted nobody!
Widowed men and women would be bawling in their footsteps! People would be sent to Purgatory, or worse, the abyss where shattered souls left! THERE WAS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT IT!
"Yes, I want to know! There is work that needs doing and I am not here for silly children's games!" Luciano declared, hoping he would finally receive an answer.
The statement of 'Only one way to find out' raised a brow for Luciano. What did she intend on doing? Abruptly, the woman turned heel and sprinted to head into the Ivory Fortress. An audible gasp left the blue-haired siren's lips as he followed behind her. WHAT IN VOLOS' NAME WAS SHE DOING?! Either she was suicidal or among the nonchalant workers who believed they could arrogantly do as their pleased because of the renown to their name! Either option, the siren despised to severe degrees! All he requested was a straight answer!
There was no need for this tomfoolery! Grassy fields shifted to a stony path as Luciano sprinted after her. The soles of his shoes pounded on the cobblestone walkway as he hastily followed. Upon entry, he was surrounded by the stone walls of the infamous Ivory Fortress. His purple-eyes searched the hallways, chasing the braided woman down the halls. The informant attempted to catch up, but by the time he managed, they rounded a corner and were stationed outside a large, metal door... A portion of the fortress was added, this room being among those sectors.
"What is it?" He grumbled at her as he slowed.
Perplexed emotions displayed on the bespectacled man's face. Why did the stranger lead him here instead of providing her name?! Was he about to witness the thieving of information?! Little did he know the crucial role the woman played prior to her retirement... The role of a researcher gathering data to assist with the furthering of the Assembly.
Juvia couldn't help but giggle more when Luciano gave his reason. "There is always time for silly children's games." She countered before making the comment before turning on her heels to run inside. To her greatest pleasure, she noticed him following behind her as she ran towards the entrance to her lab. "What is it?" She asked, repeating the question to him before reaching out to open the door. "It is a lab." She answered before pulling it open so that they'd be able to see inside. "And I used to work in here prior to my retirement." She answered, waving at a few researchers before closing the door once more. They wouldn't be going in today, or at least she wouldn't be, it was just too tempting to touch when she found herself in front of a patient. Besides the last thing she wanted to do was become a possible distraction. "I go by Vixen." She introduced, wishing this game had gone on longer. "What is your name?" She asked him in return, not quite sure if she believed him too be AP too, even though he was in here with her.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]There was a suspiciousness to the entire situation as they ran through the corridors. Nobody ceased the purple-hair woman's infiltration, rather, they appeared undisturbed by the sighting. For a moment, the blue-haired man thought he was doing the incorrect actions. Something that would earn him merits in idiocy more than anything else. As they stopped, Luciano quietly listened to the words being provided by the braided woman. What stood before him was the Assembly of Phantoms laboratory and the woman he chased down the hallways, a well-known one.
The Assembly informant's face twisted into an awkward expression as he flinched at the words. A slight frown was placed onto his face as he abruptly glanced away. He made a stupid display in a matter of seconds by chasing down the woman like she was some intruder looking for information. There was embarrassment on Luciano's countenance. A redness, slight and gentle on his cheeks while his frown turned lopsided. The siren's eyes clouded over from his abrupt failure and being playfully put in his place in his opinion.
The woman's alias was the infamous Vixen. Somebody well-known and cherished among the Assembly. When she requested his back, his eyes gazed upon her, bashfulness still clear.
"Luciano," he informed her in a quiet voice.
There was a slight fragility to his voice upon his speaking. He felt awkward and foolish for the actions he committed mere moments ago. What was he thinking?! He was no security guard for the establishment! He should have kept his bloody mouth shut and avoid being trophied as a moron.
Juvia giggled when she saw his face expression. Quite pleased when he had finally told her his name. "I see, a pleasure to meet you Luciano." She answered before playfully admitting. "I had fun." It wasn't every day that she got the chance to tease another AP member. That face expression Luciano was giving her right now was priceless and she couldn't help but feel like she couldn't get enough of it. "So you know what I used to do, which did you join?" She asked curiously, wondering if he was a soldier, informant, or medic. Though if she were to guess, she'd assume not likely a medic. But she wasn't completely sure if she believed him to be an informant either, normally they were gathering information, not chasing down a possible intruder, the soldiers were the ones that normally enjoyed that role, but he didn't seem like a soldier in her book. There was a word to describe how he appeared to her, but she was having a moment of struggling on figuring out what that word would be. Then it finally hit her and she found herself giggling once more. Too logical for a role of a soldier.... She thought to herself, deciding at this time she wouldn't be admitting her thoughts about him to him.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]Awkwardly, Luciano stood before the infamous woman who supported the Assembly for years. Silence was a virtue, and perhaps he should have listened to the common saying. Instead, he followed the woman, foolishly believing her to be a potential intruder rather than a crucial gear in the system. Suffocated by the subtle anxieties of appearing idiotic, Luciano began displaying a timid set of traits. At times, he discovered himself feeling out of place in the Assembly of Phantoms, however, the informant could not leave his occupation.
Listening to the woman's words, Luciano found himself somewhat surprised by what was stated. The foolishness of his decisions was not reprimanded by Vixen which surprised the young man. Slowly, the siren gazed at the purple-haired woman. The hesitance of his stare only lasted for a few moments before retreating. Returning sentiments were accomplished through a meagre nod of his head. Rather than proceed to mention her enjoyment of being chased, the Assembly supporter inquired about his work in the organization.
"I'm an informant," the siren answered.
The answer was hastily offered by the blue-haired man. He considered it a requirement because of his moronic efforts to treat Vixen similar to an intruder when she was a crucial piece to the organization.
Juvia continued giggling as she watched Luciano. Soon asking her question about his profession before nodding her head. "I see." She answered in return before adding, "Keep up the good work." She wanted him to know he was doing a good job and wasn't at all bothered by his questions. It wasn't possible to know who all was AP and who were intruders, it was possible that someday he'd come across some intruders and so she liked him holding that mindset. "Follow your gut, if you believe somebody doesn't belong question them until you get the answers you seek. The worst to happen is they are AP too." She answered him in return, attempting to encourage him to continue being the way he is. "Because if you don't, there is a chance an intruder could slip inside and that would be far worse than a mistake of who is AP and who is an intruder." She explained, hoping that all informants held the same mindset as Luciano here, else they needed to change their motto and get right on it.
"And who knows if they are AP, maybe they'll have a good enjoyment like I just had." She answered before adding, "Else you can send them my way, I'll gladly talk them straight." She saw no reason why not, she was the infamous Vixen after all. Nobody would want to get on her bad side just because she enjoyed experimenting on others, not that she would do it on other AP or anything like that, but that didn't mean she didn't spread fear where ever she went.

[attr=class, punkibulkrule]Humiliated, those were the emotions Luciano was being haunted by as he stood in the presence of Vixen. His tasks consisted of information gathering, not protecting the agency and acting as a guard. The informant wished to withdraw from the conversation opposed to allowing his dignity to sink any further. All he expected was reprimanding for his foolish actions and inability to remember crucial members of the Assembly. Vixen was renowned for her contributions to the organization, even becoming a benefactor in the midst of her retirement.
Those were pleasantries the Assembly of Phantoms undoubtedly appreciated with the entirety of their souls. As he waited to listen to his idiotic follies, he kept his eyes downcast, brilliant purple hues now clouded over with a sickening sense of shame. Alas, when the words arrived, there were no threats or derogatory comments. Rather, she displayed him a kindness she never expected to receive. The siren’s eyes flitted to the purple-haired woman, his shock obvious. Not a shred of angered laced her playfulness or even a snide remark.
Unexpected mercy was demonstrated by the infamous woman of the Assembly, something Luciano could appreciate. The siren granted the acquaintance a hasty nod, glad he got off easy.
"Y-yes ma'am," Luciano stumbled out.
The blue-haired informant straightened his back, opting for professionalism after discovering the woman's position. He refused to display those moronic attitudes again despite her assistance of it being alright! As an informant, he was expected to know information about the members of the Assembly and gather more. Those requirements steadily stationed themselves onto his shoulders, leaving him hesitant to believe he was not in the wrong... Next time, he would inform a guard and allow them to handle the situation and question.
Juvia listened as Luciano commented back to her before once more giggling. "I should head out now." She told him with a friendly smile before adding. "I hope to see you again." She added before slowly moving to pass him. "I know we have our differences but perhaps in the near future we'll become the best of friends." She whispered before walking back towards the exit. I had fun. I wonder if anybody else in AP will give me great enjoyment. She thought to herself, thinking of heading home for now despite thoughts of trying to see whom else would give her attention in the near future.
