Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Jean liked meeting new people so it was no surprise that he would sign up for this type of event. He felt like he had been sitting at home for far too long. He needed to get out and explore. Who knows what the night would bring, anything was possible and jean was just looking to have fun. He finished getting ready and figured it was best to go on his way. He didn’t want to be late for such an important night. He was dressed semi-casual as formal events were not something he was used to. He was definitely not dressing up in something suit or something ridiculous like that. Though he might look good in one, he never thought of going out to buy one. Why? There was no need for it. No sense in wasting money on things that he didn’t need.
jean had settled on the color of his garments, it would be black. he tucked in his buttoned up, tousled his hair a bit and decided it was now or never. arriving on the scene he spotted a group of people. were they also part of the blind date event? further investigation would prove that they were indeed waiting to be seated. while he waited further instructions he quickly glanced at his phone. he sent a quick text message before he was seated. had he been early? that would be a first, not to say that jean was usually tardy. his phone buzzed as he noticed he had gotten a reply. he had glanced at it, but didn't have a chance to reply when he noticed someone approaching the table.
The Egyptian businessman had signed up for a blind date event that had been hosted for the city, figuring that it would have been a fine enough way to meet someone who piqued his interest. However, with the fact that his parents wanted him to marry someone soon enough he would take advantage of the event for such a thing. At least scouting out a potential person that is. He wore a grey, silk suit that he knew would make himself look fine for the evening. He had arrived at the venue about the time it was set to begin, having driven himself there and used a valet to get his car parked when he arrived, and made his way inside the building. He was soon enough directed to where a man sat at a table, his yellow eyes scanning over the poorly dressed man for a few moments before he was finally noticed by the man who had been on his phone.
He smirked a little and took a seat across from the man, tilting his head to the side a little. "La ymkn 'an yakun aizeajt lafistan?" He questioned the man in his native tongue with an innocent tone knowing, or rather hoping, that the man would be unable to understand him. Honestly he was just being slightly rude on how he dressed up, but the man didn't need to know that. "Hm, apologies for that..." Not really, he really wasn't sorry. "It appears your appearance made me forget the English tongue for a moment." He purred out, leaning back in his chair a little as he rested his cheekbone against a lightly curled hand as his elbow rested against the arm of the chair.
"Do tell me, to what may I call this dashing figure before me?" He questioned him, allowing his eyes to trail over his date for the night. Just what had he been doing before he arrived? More so...what could he do to this man with what time he had? "My name is Akar, but should you remember me...we'll see." He added with a smile as he knew full well what he meant by those words.

he had promised he would text and what did it hurt that he was doing it now while he waited? he hadn't expected to be so early. well, not early but that he was the first one at the table. not to say that he was usually late. someone started speaking and that caught his attention. he looked away from his phone to see a very attractive man standing before him. he didn't catch what he had said, not because he hadn't been listening, but because he didn't understand what he had been saying?
had he been asking for help? jean wasn't sure what he could do even if that was the case. he smiled politely before speaking."i'm sorry...?"jean gave the man a confused look. was this person his blind date? it appeared so as they slid into the empty chair. well, that was a little awkward. he chuckled softly as he heard their next comment."my appearance huh?"had he worn his eye patch perhaps he could of understood why, but he wasn't sure what he had meant by that.
it was probably because half the time he wasn't approached. it had completely caught him off guard. well, whatever the case it seemed the date had started."akar."he repeated slowly."it's a name i haven't really heard, so i doubt i'd forget too soon."though isn't that how dates usually went? if they didn't work out, it was best to forget all about the other person? jean couldn't say he had much experience with the dating scene as he was the type to jump straight to the point."i'm jean by the way."he said with a smile.
The man smiled as he listened to the man speak about how he doubted he'd forget his name. Oh, that was so very cute on how this man thought that. Then again it wasn't like the man, or really anyone else, knew what he was capable of. However, as he learned the man's name he nodded his head and finally shifted to lean forward a little. "My, my...a strange name if I do say so myself but I suppose mine is just as strange for you." He spoke up smoothly, scanning his yellow eyes over the man's face. "I suppose this is also where we tell one another of our professions and whatnot." He spoke up, chuckling a little as a slightly seductive, yet interested, look crossed his face as he tilted his head to the side just slightly.
"I say we skip that for the time being. I come from Egypt, which is probably the reason why my name is unlike others you have heard before." He spoke up, resting a hand lightly on the table. He made himself seem rather interested in getting to know the man, and who knew perhaps the man would become an interest to the Egyptian in his constant search of a partner mainly to please his parents. His eyes glanced over to a server walking by, lifting a hand slightly to gain their attention. "Do you drink wine, Jean?" He questioned him, his eyes moving back over to his current date.

jean simply chuckled."it is what it is i suppose."honestly he didn't find his name strange at all. it was rather unique. he'd just keep that comment to himself. he didn't want to sound like he was trying to hard. when in fact he would just be stating a fact."was there a script we are suppose to follow? i didn't get the memo."jean said with a smile.
jean's career path wasn't the most stable and it was also highly frowned up. this person was a stranger. they obviously hadn't crossed paths before. so if jean were to simply pick a more suitable job choice, they wouldn't know he was lying. it surprised him when akar decided to skip that question. it made him highly curious as to why? surely when people didn't talk about certain things they were trying to hide something. it wasn't necessarily the case all the time, but he wasn't going to pester him about it either."that's fine by me. there's no need to interrogate each other."he said with a chuckle.
if he just wanted to sit in silence that was fine too. unlike most of the other people, jean wasn't doing this because he thought he was going to find love or end up in a relationship. he was doing this because it sounded like fun."egypt? what brings you all the way over here?"he asked with genuine curiosity.
lorsette was an interesting place, but nothing like the major cities. at least that's what he believed. of course the same thing could be said about him. why lorsette and the answer to that was because he had friends here. he watched as he called a server over."not particularly, but don't let me stop you."he offered a smile.
Akar gave a single nod and just went ahead and ordered a glass of red wine for himself from the server before he turned his attention over to Jean once again, smiling at his words. "Well, I've inherited my father's company from there and figured I'd come here to expand perhaps." He spoke up, tilting his head slightly. The man did seem rather interesting, however there was still so much he did't know about the man either. What could he do to learn more about him? What could he use upon learning from him? There was just so much to learn and do during this evening. "As for you...what brought you to this city?" He questioned him, keeping his hand where it was on the table for the time being.
He scanned his eyes over his date's face before he smiled once more. "How long have you been here in Lorsette? Perhaps you could...show me around or tell me a few things you like around here?" He spoke up with a purr added to his words, just wanting to see how the man would react. Honestly he knew some places around the city since he had been there long enough, not that anyone really knew, and he figured he could potentially see if the man knew of any places that he did as well. Perhaps he'd interest him just enough to allow him to remember him for starters. Only time would tell on that really.

he took a sip of his water, that he had received when he had arrived. the question's continued now that he told akar that they didn't have to know every single thing about each other. jean wasn't that nosy. jean had things to hide too, it would just make things easier. he nodded at his response. that would be a good reason to show up in lorsette."oh, well good luck with that."what else what he was suppose to say? all that stuff sounded complicated and not all that interesting. again it was kind of nearing the territory about talking about what they did for a living, but not necessarily.
he knew that question would becoming. though he wasn't technically from here. he had spent quite a couple of years here, before he had left and then returned. of course he didn't have to know what."i actually have family here."that wasn't a complete lie. they technically weren't blood related and there was only one that he had gotten back to good terms with.
"a couple of years. whatever you'd like. is there anything in particular you want to know about?"he wasn't sure how long akar had been here."the beach is my favorite place to go. just not when it's really crowded."he said with a chuckle.
Akar gave a simple nod to Jean's words of wishing him luck with his business, which soon enough had turned to an answer from the Egyptian's question on why he had come to Lorsette. So, he was here because of family. How...nice. "Well, family is always good to have." He responded, giving him a smile before he listened to his next set of words on how long he had been here for. Well, that seemed fine enough he supposed. A light chuckle escaped the man at the mention of the beach, a small grin crossing his face. "Ah! The beach does sound rather inviting! Though this time of year does not really seem like the ideal time to go visit the beach for some swimming." He spoke up, sighing a little with a disappointed expression due to the time of year for visiting a beach.
The man did like to venture off to beaches mainly so he could enjoy the warmth from the sun but to also...show off a bit. "Do you happen to know any secluded spots along the beach?" He questioned him in a curious manner. If he could learn more about the man perhaps he could do something to with the knowledge of what he had learned. "It truly is a shame it is still cold out, there could be quite a few places to visit for a lengthy amount of time outside." He spoke up, shrugging slightly before his attention was turned elsewhere towards the server returning to the table with his glass of wine.
He gave a nod of thanks as he accepted his drink and took a sip of his red wine before his eyes returned to Jean once again. "Tell me, are there any places that would be interesting to visit to get away from the cold?" He asked him as he set his glass onto the table. He frequented a club in the city, though he wouldn't say that he did. Nor did he expect the man to really know that since he usually made sure people didn't remember him in the first place.

jean nodded, not bothering to mention that his family didn't want anything to do with him. it was information that was completely irrelevant. he didn’t expect them to welcome him with open arms, especially after he left without saying goodbye. he hadn’t even bothered telling them where he was going. only because jean didn’t really have a set destination. though that was very typical of jean, not having any set plans. he’d go with the flow and if a problem were to arise he’d figure it out along the way
he chuckled softly at the comment. how often he forgot that others would be affected by the cold temperature of the water. though he hadn’t exactly been thinking about going for a swim. it was a nice place for a walk, seeing as there wouldn’t be too many people around.”well, yes for a swim you might have to wait till the weather warms up.” 'his next question made him think. were there any nice secluded places? perhaps he wasn’t a people person, then again the beach could get crowded and noisy.”i want to say there are a few spots heading north of the beach.”as much as he enjoyed the beach it had been quite some time since he had gone.
he nods.”yes, the winter tends to do that. it should be warming up soon.”akar would have more opportunities to venture out without getting too cold, soon enough. though honestly it felt like winter had dragged on forever. jean sipped his water before answering the next question."the golden crown is a pretty popular spot and i’m not just saying that because it’s a bar.”he chuckles softly.”the mall and the library. though i would have to say if you are looking to warm up. crescent cafe would be the best place. they have all sorts of hot drinks.”he told him with a nod.
Akar nodded to his date's words on visiting places away from the cold. An amused expression crossed his face at the mention of a bar, something that did sound familiar to the Egyptian. However he allowed the man to speak more before nodding in acknowledgement to his words. "Ah, fine places indeed then! Now...I don't suppose you have anything you enjoy doing?" He questioned him, tilting his head to the side slightly as he allowed his eyes to scan over his date once more to just take in his appearance for the moment. A soft hum escaped him as he allowed himself to admire the man before him before he shifted to lean forward slightly. "Tell me, Jean...just what does your little heart desire in life?" He purred, lightly resting his chin on his knuckles with his elbow on the table.
The man was interesting for the most part at the moment, but all that truly mattered was how things would progress during the rest of their evening together. Would they part ways before the night was over, or at the end of it, or would they end up staying by one another for the rest of the night? Who knew, all the Egyptian knew was that things could fall apart or go smoothly. Though Akar knew he'd most likely erase the man's memories of himself so that Akar would not be remembered by the man who had been chosen to be his date. After all, this was mostly for his own entertainment, and scouting perhaps, and he didn't want to be bothered should they part ways later.

jean took a sip of water. why was this starting to sound more like an interrogating or was it more like he was being analyzed? okay maybe he was exaggerating a bit. it was only natural to talk about whatever to keep a conversation going. if akar wanted a tour, jean would not be the ideal candidate. only because he was certain the types of places jean liked to go too, akar might look down on. he couldn't figure akar out. he was rather intimidating, just the way he presented himself, but jean found that rather attractive. jean never played it safe. well, more like he was a bit adventurous and quite curious.
he smiled at his question. of course there were things that jean enjoyed doing. was he expecting a certain answer?"well, i like to swim."he did say he liked going to the beach, though going to the beach wasn't really a hobby."i like read, go to concerts. the usual things."he said with a small laugh."what about you?"
it was that right there that made jean curious. these sorts of questions. he was just keeping jean on his toes. though honestly what jean desired wasn't possible. one could not simply turn back time and fix their mistakes."if i tell you are you going to make my wish come true?"he asked with a slight smirk.
Akar listened to what Jean listed off on things that he liked to do, nodding in acknowledgement before he released a soft chuckle after the man had asked him what he liked to do as well. "Ah, such a question is indeed a fine line between truth and lies. Though I shall stay with truth for you, eaziziun." He told him, smiling as he raised his glass of wine off the table once more and raised it to his lips, pausing to let his eyes flit up towards his date before he took a sip. "Just as you've stated I also like to swim as well as read here and there. However, I do enjoy visiting the good clubs and not those shoddy ones." He told him, setting his glass of wine back down onto the table.
He smiled as he leaned back in his chair, comfortable yet still refined at the moment. He allowed his eyes to trail over what he could see of his date before he allowed them to rest on Jean's face once more. At his question that was accompanied by a slight smirk, the Egyptian released a pleased laugh before leaning forward once more as he set a hand on the table. "Ah, I can do just that! Don't you know that I'm your personal genie for the night?" He purred out, smirking as he tapped the table with a finger. "Name what you desire and I can see about getting it granted."

well wasn't he just full of surprises? he laughed softly at his words. they didn't know each other, so if they wanted to they could both lie and neither would know."the truth for me huh? you sure know how to make someone feel special."jean smiled before taking a drink of his water.
he set the glass down and nodded at akar's interests. he likes clubbing? it was something that he had never tried, well it never really captured his attention. did he go there to dance? or was it something completely different? he was curious, but not enough to ask about it.
jean looked at him curiously as he leaned forward. clearly he was joking right?"my personal genie. that sounds lovely."he said with a laugh. well wasn't he quite the charmer."i'm a bit of a skeptic, so i won't believe it till i see it."jean said with a smile. okay, he would play along, but what did he want."that's all very well and interesting. except i don't know what i want. maybe you....perhaps you can help me."
Akar smirked a little as he listened to Jean's response on feeling special on getting the truth. Oh, if only he knew... A small chuckle escaped the man as he raised his glass of wine and took a sip of it after he gave it a gentle swish, all the while his eyes remained on the man opposite of him for the time being. As their conversation went to interests and then to his own words of being the man's personal genie for the night, the Egyptian was...well, having fun.
He chuckled lightly as he listened to the man's words, tilting his chin up slightly and his head to the side just a degree as he allowed the man to speak of what he wanted; or rather of not knowing what he wanted. Oh, now those were dangerous words indeed. The Egyptian leaned forward a little and placed a finger against the table slightly, glass of wine now returning to its surface, before he lightly tapped it. "My, my...such dangerous words my dear Jean. A risky suggestion indeed, how intriguing." He purred out, his interest in the man growing a bit. Was it enough to keep him in remembering him? No, not yet.
Perhaps if he could probe into his mind...he could see just what he could do next. So, of course, the man activated his Telepathy just to simply read, or listen in, what the man across from him was thinking. Oh what information could he gain and thus use to his own advantage?

jean wondered what akar would of said had he ended his words at maybe you. it was fine, he wasn't desperate and he wasn't going to make himself sound like it either. nothing wrong with having a bit of fun now and then though. it didn't matter that he hadn't ended there, it seemed like akar found it rather amusing.
jean smiled innocently."i don't know what you mean."of course he knew what he meant. jean was just going to continue playing."well, perhaps it was. life is all about. taking risks."he said with a small laugh."it's fine, i still have time to think about it right? we still have yet to have dinner. or are you giving me a time limit?"he figured he'd ask. honestly he had no idea what he would ask for. it was rather hard to think of something right on the spot. or maybe he'd just go the easy route and pick something simple or generic.
