Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Jaclyn couldn't help but smile when Laurent had reached out to pet Pride to calm him. She bent her knees as she looked at Pride, greeting him before slowly holding her hand out to him. Pride groaned before letting out a loud pitch before his nose moved towards her hands, sniffing as she had hoped before licking her hand before she knew it, both of her hands were being licked and she didn't bother pulling away from him, giggling from the action. Pride was barking once more, wagging his tail. "No problem." She answered, smiling towards Laurent as she watched him go inside. As soon as he went inside she slowly pulled away to stand up, wiping her now soaked hands on her pants. "Well you heard him, just stick by me." She answered with a smile on her face before slowly moving she headed towards the door, once it opened, she'd glance towards Pride, waving him inside to join her. "Shhh...." She would whisper playfully as she moved around the aisles, knowing exactly where Laurent was located, with any luck, Pride would follow her instead of going towards Laurent.
Pride was happy when Jaclyn didn't pull away from his aggressive licking of her hands. He had gotten practically all the salt from her hands off, and stopped letting her pull away to do other things. He wasn't sure why the man was leaving him with this woman, he had specifically picked that man for his snacks, and to be his special human. Did the man think he was going to get away that easily? Likely not. When the woman opened the door to the store, and gestured for him to come inside his head perked up. She told him to shh, something that he was absent minded in following. He was however pretty silent, except for the pitter patter of his claws against the tiled floor of the store.
Pride followed her inside, thinking that he might as well head straight for the man. There were a lot of smells that caught his interest, and the store was basically free range now. He trotted alongside the woman, she was going in the direction of the man it seemed so he felt pretty confident following in her direction would lead him to interesting things. He followed her through the isles for a bit, getting a little bored. He pawed at some of the low hanging items, trying to figure out if they were indeed food, or something to play with. When he figured out it wasn't for him, by smelling the items, he continued to make his way towards Laurents smell. Which would probably be near the dog sections of the store.
Sure enough after losing sight of the woman Pride found his way into the dog section of the store. He could smell food close by but found himself grabbing a few toys and making a bit of a mess. He grabbed a squeaky toy and began squeaking it loudly through the store. He was happy with his toy, and made his way towards Laurents scent. He approached slowly but was squeaking that toy rather loudly. He wasn't too concerned about the woman at this point, but tried to locate her scent. Should he approach the woman first? No he had to get to the special human that seemed to enjoy his company. He trotted through the dog isle trying to find the man who was seemed so kind, when he found him, he squeaked his toy at him from across the isle almost as if tempting him to try and grab the toy from his mouth.
Where did the woman go? His thoughts quickly changed. He would come back to the man, trotting off to find the woman by scent now. Still squeaking the toy throughout the store. He passed by a few people who gave a confused look in his direction, but he was fine leaving the random passerbys be. Following the scent of the woman, he tried sneaking up behind her, however he was still making a lot of noise with a squeak toy.
If Laurent guessed, the filthy canine would be outlawed from entering the store, hence his decision to leave him in Jaclyn's care. Quietly, the fallen angel pushed open the double glass doors of the grocery store. His brown eyes glanced around, eventually spotting a sign for the washrooms. He headed towards the signs, entering a short bricked corridor to reach the area with the sinks. With the assistance of soap and lukewarm water, the dirt was banished from Laurent's hand, the water turning a murky colour from the coated grime.
[break][break]
Once satisfied, the professor dried his hands and exited the washroom. Through his mind ran the layout of the varying isles. There were plenty, but for this trip, Laurent only required where the food was stocked along with some other essentials. He wished to grab a bottle of dog shampoo along with perhaps some treats to keep the husky satisfied until he determined the location of his owners. He was hopeful the process would not be strenuous given the dog's friendly behaviours towards people; he still believed he was domestic.
[break][break]
Gradually, Laurent reached the dog isle where he browsed through the various bags of dog food. The types were endless, but the professor planned on getting a smaller bag to begin with. If the husky turned out to have an owner, the fallen angel wanted to avoid spending extravagant prices on dog food he would not use. Especially if the owner was specific about the brands they bought to keep their animal healthy. Something was picked, but before Laurent could search for more of the items he required, the sounds of squeaking from the neighbouring aisle echoed through the store.
[break][break]
Initially, the bearded man shrugged it off, assuming it was merely somebody testy squeaky toys for their pet. The squeaking proceeded obnoxiously, alas, Laurent chose to ignore it. Once he had everything he required, he would be leaving the store anyways. Shortly, the fallen angel picked a type of dog shampoo, but before he could go any further, the squeaking got louder... A brow lifted as Laurent glanced around, eventually seeing the filthy husky squeaking the toy at the end of the aisle. The professor's eyes widened as he watched the husky turn away to head elsewhere.
[break][break]
WHERE WAS JACLYN?! Abandoning his browsing, Laurent hurried after Pride, following the squeaks through the twisted aisles of the store. Tightly, his fingers clenched the bag of dog food along with the dog shampoo.
Jaclyn watched as Pride went inside before walking down one of the aisles. It wasn't long before she heard Pride pawing at some of the stuff in the aisle. She continued walking forward and turned down another one, only to notice Pride had stopped following her. She turned around to head back in the direction she had seen him last before pausing when she heard a squeaky toy. It was difficult to contain the small smile forming on her lips as she listened to Pride but ceased moving to catch up with him. It wasn't long before she heard the noise from behind her and turned to see Pride had come to her instead. That is interesting. I would have thought after ditching me he would have gone to Laurent instead. She thought to herself, bending slightly as Pride got closer to her. It wasn't long before she noticed Laurent and gave an innocent smile. "Looks like he wanted a dog toy, can't very well pick one unless I ask him his preference." She answered as she tried coming up with a reason for them being in here. Though to be frank, he requested her to stay with Pride, not to remain outside.
Pride made his way up to the woman with Laurent in tow. He squeaked the toy happily in her face, almost as if begging her to grab it from him. He turned around to Laurent squeaking the toy in his direction as well. He grumbled playfully almost as if saying. "Just try it punks" But he also wanted to play some tug of war, so he was consistently teasing them with the toy by raising his head in the air with the thing and squeaking it. He trotted up to Laurent and began rubbing his face against the side of his leg, while being pretty rough. He was saying. "Play with me if you dare" basically, and was ready for if Laurent was going to try and take the toy from his mouth.
After about a minute of teasing Laurent with the thing, he went on to do the same to Jaclyn. Raising his head and squeaking the toy proudly as if saying. "You can't take this from me! HAHA!" He smugly walked around Jaclyn with the toy in his tight jaws. He squeaked the toy a few more times, this time doing them in rapid succession to drive home the point even further.
Pride, who had a lot of the snow on him melting now because of the warmth of snow quickly shook off as much as he could, bits of dirt flying out towards Jaclyn's direction simply because he was close to her. He shook trying to get the dirt, and grime off, some of it did fly out, but most remained in his fur. He grumbled lowly while squeaking the toy.
Dogs were not supposed to be in grocery stores! The entire reason Laurent requested Jaclyn to watch over the rambunctious canine was to avoid this scenario! The filth which covered the abandoned husky would leave a horrible mess inside the store, the type owners and customers would be highly unappreciative of. The fallen angel cared about the dog and should the option had been readily available, he would have brought Pride along with him for the shopping. Alas, he knew this store would not enjoy having a random stray dog inside...
[break][break]
He followed behind the dog, wondering if Jaclyn was forced to leave for work and the animal accidentally strayed inside. Squeaking filled Laurent's ears as he hurried off the dog, still horrified as to how he managed to enter the grocery store in the first place. As they rounded the corner, his eyes discovered the familiar uniform with blue accents and long purple hair framing striking yellow eyes. Surprise entered his gaze, although, to his fortunes, Jaclyn's presence resulted in the husky happily stopping to squeak his toy at her.
[break][break]
"How did he get in here?!" Laurent asked, the words leaving his lips quickly.
[break][break]
The young woman was an excellent scout, somebody appraised for her capabilities. It left Laurent stunned on how the innocent husky, he assumed, snuck inside to find him. The rubbing of the husky's face against his leg was noticed, however, not acted upon. Already, his hands were filled with supplies for the young stray or escaped family pet. The last thing the fallen angel needed to accomplish was dropping all the supplies. Listening to Jaclyn's reason resulted in a sigh leaving his lips.
[break][break]
"Jaclyn, dogs are not allowed in here... that is why he was supposed to stay outside," the professor explained.
[break][break]
There were slight hues of frustration in his expression. If management caught wind of them allowing a dog into their store, they could be barred from entering the place, or at least, given a stern warning. Furthermore, anything damaged or stained by the husky would be coming out of his pocket...
Jaclyn watched as Pride teased her with the toy as if daring for her to try and grab it. She listened as Laurent spoke. "I let him in here." She admitted, noticing that people had started wandering nearby to peek at the scene. "That is right, it says no dogs in here." She answered, knowing the rules real well but she believed that Pride wasn't just some dog, but wasn't able to put a reason down for why she believed such things. "He is in here though and seeing as I've admitted to being the one to let him in, I take full responsibility for him." She answered, suddenly moving forward as an attempt to get the toy, with plans of playing with Pride. It wouldn't be the first time I've done something like this and I'd like to think the owners would know I'd never do it without my reasons. She thought to herself, more than willing to stick around to clean up, should it be required of her.
Pride attempted to get Laurent's attention but seeing as his hands were full Pride was smart enough to pick up on that he wouldn't be getting much pets from him. So he kept his attention of Jaclyn. He kept the ball tight in his mouth, holding it with great strength. The two of them seemed to talk a bit back and forth, but Pride's attention was much more kept on the ball. He wasn't sure what they were talking about, but he kept his squeaky toy squeaking through the conversation almost as a way to keep his immediate presence known to the two of them. His tail wagged with a surprising speed as he approached Jaclyn who seemed to be a bit more responsive to his attempts at play.
When she moved forward Pride's immediate action was to pull away from Jaclyn. He wanted her to play, but he didn't want her to take the ball away from him. He groaned with the ball muffling his groan as he tried to get verbal information out into the atmosphere. He wasn't thinking too much, despite being very bright, he dropped the ball squeaker on the ground. He kept the ball between his legs, but this would give Jaclyn a good opportunity to grab the thing. He turned to Laurent, still keeping the ball within his legs and letting out a bark almost to say. "Hey pay attention to me" He then brought his attention back to Jaclyn forgetting about the squeaky toy for a second as he brought his tongue out panting happily.
He then remembered that the ball still should be at his feet and looked down to try and pick the thing up again before Jaclyn or Laurent got any bright ideas.
Somewhat panicked, the fallen angel stood motionless, hands filled to the brim with items for the unfortunate stray. His circumstances were considered ill-favouring because of Jaclyn's abrupt actions. Canines or animals, in general, were barred from the store, and deliberately disobeying their rules would not reflect well. Curious glances strayed their way, the gossipers innately wishing for further information for their ill-favoured discussions. Already, the soft voices of under-voiced chatter occurred to Laurent's vexation.
[break][break]
Trouble was a topic Laurent constantly wished to avoid. Centuries ago he caused it within the law, and now he wished to ease the lives of others. The admittance summoned a sigh from the depths of the fallen angel's lips. He understood Jaclyn fancied discovering enjoyment at every turn, however, there were certain things nobody did. Animals inside grocery stores were refused because of the sanitary hazard it posed. Fortunately, the dark-haired woman willingly took responsibility for allowing the filthy husky into the building.
[break][break]
Quietly, he watched as Jaclyn moved to grab the ball. He hoped she could snag it from the playful husky in order to purchase the item. Although, the husky pulled away, eventually facing him again. The ball dropped from the canine's mouth, being strategically placed beneath him while he released a bark.
[break][break]
"What do you want, boy?" He asked the dog.
[break][break]
There was hope acknowledging the barking creature would distract him from taking the ball. He clung to hopes Jaclyn would manage to grab the ball before the husky's attention drifted back to it.
Jaclyn watched Laurent, understanding a possible fear coming from him but not too concerned. Though it was true animals weren't allowed in the store, she couldn't help but believe Pride wasn't just some dog but somebody who could shift into one. She had mentioned taking responsibility should they get into trouble, believing it wasn't likely going to happen. Whispers started up and she ignored them, focusing on Pride to attempt to snatch the toy. Pride had moved away before suddenly setting the toy on the ground. As soon as Laurent distracted Pride, she once more attempted to reach for the toy, attempting to grab it before Pride, who's attention had gone back on the toy.
Pride found himself slightly distracted by Laurent who seemed to ask what he want. That slight distraction, just the tiniest bit of attention he received cause his sight to be distant for just long enough for Jaclyn to sneak her hands in and get the ball. The two seemed to talk to each other over something, but Pride was far too focused on getting one of them to play with him to really pay attention to what the conversation was holding. His tail wagged as he flung over to face Jaclyn, who now had the squeaky toy ball. He sat his rump down, his tail still wagging probably making a draft in Laurent's direction.
Whatever Laurent was doing was completely lost in the pup, Pride knew he was at least carrying bags, but they seemed to sealed so he couldn't get a smell off of them, other than Laurent's hands touching the things. With his tail veraciously wagging near Laurent, Pride was preparing to pounce. He bent himself down and made a stance to signify that he was preparing to do so. With a soft bark, he warned her to give his ball back, almost as if saying. "That's mine, give it back!" But really a part of him was also saying. "Throw It!" He was poised ready to pounce, but also ready to spring into action if she was to toss the ball. Either was a likely scenario to a dog with little thinking process, at least when it came to something that drowned out his attention like that squeaky ball.
His long nails clacked against the tile of the store as he moved his legs in excitement, his snout opening to release his wide tongue. He did a high pitch groan, being very verbal about his distain that she had the ball and not him. He wanted that ball, and would follow her energetically to get it. He let out another high pitched groan, some of the mud, from the melted snow started dripping off him at this point, making a little mess, but nothing too major.
Through the abrupt discovery of Pride entering the store, Laurent was attempting to avoid any concerns from the surrounding citizens. Those with health concerns or general phobias of germs would despise the presence of a young husky inside the store. Nonetheless, the situation hefted upon Laurent's broad shoulders was ill-favouring and one he wished could have been avoided. A gentle sigh breached his lips as he adjusted himself. Despite the heavy items being balanced in his arms, Laurent maintained the distraction until Jaclyn managed to grab the ball.
[break][break]
There was a mild relief once the squeaking ball was captured in the young woman's hands. The large professor eased as something went into their favour. He planned on purchasing the ball given the husky already chewed the squeaking toy. A grunt of effort rumbled from Laurent's throat as he adjusted the position of the bag of dog food in his arms. He wanted to get going and return home with the items. The heft of the dog food and sheer amount of items he was required to carry made Laurent want to purchase the items and head home.
[break][break]
"Let's go get this all paid for," Laurent suggested, a soft grumble in his throat.
[break][break]
Afterwards, the fallen angel turned away, heading towards where the tills were. He just hoped nobody would confront them about the filthy husky following them around...
Jaclyn smiled when Pride had noticed that she had the ball in her hands. The thought of desiring too throw the ball for Pride too go after it had crossed her mind but instead she held onto it when Laurent had made the comment about getting the stuff paid for. "Alright." She answered in return, "Sorry, boy." She answered towards Pride, slowly moving closer too Laurent with plans of buying the toy herself because she had been the one watching Pride when he had managed too get the toy. Laurent had only made plans too buy the stuff in his hands after all, she didn't want him too gain the burden of extra purchases after all. As soon as they arrived in line, she debated on requesting supplies too clean up the floor but thought against it, deciding it best for Laurent too have Pride outside before she got started, deciding she'd mentioned being back in a few minutes too clean the mess that Pride had made, having decided she'd do it already, besides as expected nobody had given her a hard time, because they knew she had done them plenty of favors in the past and would never allow a canine inside unless she had a reason behind it.
Pride looked up curiously, his eyes locked on the ball in Jaclyn's hands. He groaned loudly towards the ball but kept his attention on it adamantly. He did adjust his attention slightly to look at Laurent almost as if saying. "Hey help a guy out here?" He wanted that ball back, and was prepared to jump. He did jump, in fact, he hopped around Jaclyn. He was trying to take the ball back, so Jaclyn was best to keep the thing out of reach of the dog. He followed Jaclyn intently, because she had the ball. His attention did shift to Laurent, occasionally, and to the people who seemed to catch his snout off-guard.
When they arrived in line Pride had a bit of less room to move, and so he just hopped in place like an over-excited canine. He was ready for Jaclyn to move, because he was going to chase after her. She had his toy after all, and he was at least waiting patiently enough to not bark over and over again. However, their lack of attention on him was beginning to get to him. "Hey!" He barked. "That's my toy!" He barked again trying to get his thoughts across in an excited tone. He decided to run forward to hit Jaclyn in the back of the leg with the side of his head. Pushing hard against her legs he tried to get her to drop down a little bit so he'd have a chance at grabbing the toy again. He was at least crafty for the most part.
Maybe Pride needed to learn some manners, he was a bit too aggressive there. He however had a playful tone about him.
Through the filthy husky getting inside the store and the toy antics, Laurent desired to purchase his items and leave. Breaking the grocery store’s rules felt awkward, attention seemingly fixated on the oddball trio. A dirty husky dog, a woman with long purple hair and him, a broad-shouldered professor. They were hardly people the general public considered delinquents. The TRS uniform wrapped prestigiously around Jaclyn’s shoulders proved the notion in meagre seconds. Fortunately, it appeared the antics ended for the time being.
[break][break]
Quietly, they moved to the counter to purchase the items in Laurent's hands. A small bag of dog food and some canine shampoo for the stray dogs, currently assumed, temporary stay in his care. There were subtle comforts as they approached the front counter, Laurent knowing shortly they could leave the market place. Silently, they closed the distance towards the first open area at the tills. The fallen angel hefted the dog food bag and shampoo onto the grocery counter. A sigh of relief was avoided as soft anxiety coated the brunette; he wanted to exit.
[break][break]
The husky had followed them through the store, Laurent's eyes flitting around every so often. Nobody approached them despite their clear defiance of the store's policies. Eventually, his hazel hues locked on the ball captured inside Jaclyn's slender fingers. That incident still required clearing.
[break][break]
"You can set it down now, Jaclyn," he commented quietly.
[break][break]
The soft sounds of a barcode ringing followed by the clack of keys entered Laurent's ears as the cashier worked the till. The question about desiring a bag was asked automatically, to which Laurent nodded his no. There were few items, therefore, adding excessive plastic was pointless. Although, before Laurent could pay for the items, he needed Jaclyn to allow the cashier to scan the ball. However, through it all, the professor remained unaware to the husky's sneaky plans to secure his toy.
