Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Summer 2022
Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
It had been some time for the Nephilim to do some research on a new subject, and it had irritated him more when he had developed a cold to the point of needing to rest for a while. A few days had passed before he was recovered from the dreadful cold, finally able to get back to work. He was sitting at a desk tapping away at a computer as well as jotting down notes in a journal, muttering some things to himself under his breath as he worked. If he was to develop a weapon for the AP people to use then it had to be good...it had to be good enough for someone like him to even use it. His goal really was to find the perfect weapon to...well, strip people of what they were. To make them feel useless and powerless. If it was possible to birth or create creatures with various abilities then it had to be possible to create a way to take it all away. Or at least dull them quite a bit.
He paused what he was doing and frowned, a hand reaching up to adjust his glasses before he huffed and dropped his pencil to lean back in his chair as he threw his hands to his hair with a groan. He was so close yet so far! The idea and theory was there, but the way to prove it...to develop it was hidden. He needed to find a way to begin this! He remained where he was for a few minutes, staring up at the ceiling before he leaned forward and heaved a heavy sigh. Perhaps he needed to take his frustrations out on something, maybe he could gain some information in the process.
Toshi grabbed his phone and dialed a number, letting it ring until someone picked up. "Bring me one of those golems. I need to do some more research." He spoke, hanging up abruptly before he got up to clear some space for his current project would arrive. Project...more like punching bag. One of the few that were kept here along with those prisoners that they held. He went back to his desk and pulled up a document that he had already begun that was based on the information that was mostly provided about the golem he would no doubt receive but also of what he took from the golem itself.
It took a little bit but he eventually heard noise behind him, the researcher merely pointing at a chair that he had placed in the center of the room. He didn't care if this golem was a soldier, it was nothing to him. It wasn't...alive. Not truly that is. It was more of a machine that was mashed together of different parts; a puppet so to speak. But it wasn't important and he didn't care what he did to it. So long as it could continue doing what it had to do he figured he could do what he wanted to it.
A day off. Those were so boring. Nothing to do but sit in a semi-meditative state, doing nothing. Allowed to do nothing. Just sitting around waiting for orders to come in. That was so pointless. But this day. This day was different. This day he was being summoned down to the research area of the headquarters. That could only mean one thing. Toshi.
Regardless of how much he wanted to scream and lash out, attack those that were chaining his wrists and ankles together, tear them apart, he could not. He was stuck obeying their orders, regardless of what they were. With no true master, but the entirety of the Assembly being able to control him, he was really at an end.
They practically dragged his uncooperative self down to the lab where the evil bastard waited for him. They sat him down in a chair, the chains clinking against the floor. He looked around, trying to see what might be in store for him. There was an array of surgical tools and who knew what else. His golden eyes flicked to the floor, then over to the blue haired man. A growl rose in his throat, but he had to sit here, practically deactivated until told otherwise.
The moment his subject was brought in and sat down in the chair, the clinking of chains alerting him of its bound state, Toshi paused what he was doing and turned his chair a bit to view the golem. It did look...disgruntled. Not his problem though, he wasn't the one bound up in chains or..well, being faced by himself. He rose from his chair and walked over to the thing sitting in the chair, silent as he walked around it as he allowed his eyes to scan over it. After a few moments he walked over to the rolling tray of surgical equipment and pulled it over to where the golem was seated at.
Toshi said nothing as he pulled on gloves before he grabbed an empty syringe, soon walking over to the thing sitting in the chair. He pulled the cap off the needle and grabbed the thing's arm, promptly sticking the needle in where he could find a vein. He then grabbed an empty vial and attached it to the needle before he began to extract some...blood from it. He wasn't even sure if he could call it blood. Though it was easier than making something up he supposed.
"You shall cease all noises, thing." He ordered out, not even bothering to look at the golem as he withdrew the needle from the thing's arm and carried both syringe and vial away to take care of that so he could deal with what he took from the golem for later. The researcher didn't even bother to patch up the place where the needle had pierced the thing's flesh, letting what blood trickled out to do just that. He'd make it clean it all up later anyway. After that he approached the golem once more and grabbed a scalpel, crossing his arms as he lightly pressed the flat edge of it against his cheek as he tilted his head to the side slightly while looking over the golem once more.
Just where should he start? After a few moments he uncrossed his arms and stepped forward, the blade of the scalpel aimed towards the thing's arm. "Do bite your tongue and be quiet. I need to view what's inside your arm." He spoke out, a slight smirk crossing his face as he grabbed the golem's wrist and held it down on the arm of the chair as he began to cut into its arm slowly with a precise line. Honestly he didn't really have to look into its arm, but he needed to do something and inflicting pain on it seemed fine enough for him. Besides, with the blood that he took he could probably find a thing or two from it. Perhaps it could help him out with his developing theory even.
The little experiment sat quietly, not even flinching as the needle was stuck into his arm. He was honestly surprised that it didn't break right off the bat. But he supposed the synthetic skin was probably softer than the naga skin was. No noise. Well that was something that he could do no problem. Right? He didn't make a sound as the scalpel slid across his cheek. He mentioned something about his arm and he resisted the urge to let out an irritated groan. It was going to be a long day.
Toshi slid the scalpel deeper into the thing's arm until it couldn't go any further. He turned the blade and cut a different way, continuing this until he could open up the synthetic skin to reveal what was beneath it. A hum escaped the researcher as he put the scalpel away and instead grabbed another empty vial and a scraper, using the instrument to scrape some fleshy tissue out of the opened wound and into the empty vial. He did this several times before he switched over to an instrument that resembled scissors of sorts.
The researcher reached the scissor-like thing into the opened arm and gripped the muscle that lined the inside of the arm, pausing before he looked towards the golem. "Tell me...do you actually feel all of this?" He asked the thing sitting chained up in the chair. He slowly closed the scissor-like instrument around the muscle, letting it slice through the muscle as he kept his eyes trained on the golem. "Go ahead...scream in pain. SCREAM AWAY! NO ONE IS GOING TO GIVE A DAMN ANYWAY! SCREAM YOUR LUNGS OUT!" His voice was soft at first, but he was soon screaming into the thing's face as he grabbed the scalpel once more and stabbed the damned golem's gut with it, dragging it across before pulling it out. He knew it would need medical attention by this point, but...he didn't care. He wanted to hear those screams, and he wouldn't stop until he heard them.
He stopped himself from growling as his flesh was dug into. That wasn't very nice of a thing to do, but it appeared that this particular scientist had a screw or two loose up in his head. Maybe someone should have cut his brain open just to see what was wrong with it. Still, it had been an order to remain quiet, so quiet he remained, his fist on his opposite hand nearly white knuckled.
A twitch ran through his other arm, and he just stared at the scientist, his golden eyes narrowed in some form of hatred. He was told to scream, but instead he just laughed. He laughed and laughed like the lunatic he was. "Pain? What pain!?" He laughed a bit more and pulled against the chains with his other arm. "I'll tear it off myself if you'd like. Take the whole damn arm if you must!"
The researcher backed up a little, growing silent as he observed the laughter from the golem. Now...that was an interesting reaction. He dropped the scalpel on the tray before he walked off to his desk to grab a recorder pen without really changing his gloves. He walked back over and pressed it on, a little red light showing up at the end of it. "Subject reacts to pain by laughter and suggestion of ripping its own arm off." He spoke into the recorder, keeping his eyes on the golem as he tilted his head to the side slightly. He set the recorder on the tray, still on, and grabbed the scalpel once more as he approached the creature once again. He dug into its arm again, though frowned as he pulled back after a few minutes. He needed something to help him learn how to get these damned abilities dulled! He didn't need to know anything on how the golem actually worked, just the abilities!
Toshi huffed and walked away to grab a needle and some thread that would be used as stitches. He approached the golem once more and set to work on stitching up the wounds he had inflicted. That took several minutes to finish but after that the researcher stepped away and turned off the recorder pen. He needed to observe abilities in action, but also to monitor how its body was affected when such abilities were activated. Perhaps...perhaps he could learn something from that. If he could figure out what made it tick when abilities surfaced then perhaps he could get somewhere with that.
"Get up, there has been a change of plans. Go to the indoor sparring area and I shall meet you there with some equipment. If anyone is in there kick them out because I don't need anyone else interrupting." He told the golem, moving away to clean his instruments first before he'd grab equipment meant to stick to the golem so he could track those fake vitals as well as other things when he would eventually have the thing activate its abilities. This had to be the way, it surely had t be.
It took a little bit to gather everything but he eventually made his way down to where the indoor sparring area was located at and where that damned golem should have been waiting for him. He entered the room and set the equipment down, huffing a little since it was a bit heavy and he carried it all the way from where he worked. Perhaps he should of had the golem carry it all down for him. No matter now, he got it here and now he could continue his work. "Take your shirt off so I can attach these to you." He instructed the golem, having taken a minute to catch his breath once more due to not really being fit to be lugging around heavy things constantly.
