Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Saint Eden Gardens, a park created for all to come and marvel at the beautiful crystal water and rock formations. Paved trails and aged wooden fences lined the expanse of land with only a few designated diving spots for those who wanted to swim in the secluded lakes that were rumored to be comprised of holy water. There were areas of grass that held large trees where local families and other creatures liked to picnic. But none of it was free and the entire place held high security with some species not allowed inside.[break][break]
His family had bought a portion of the park and sectioned it off for their family to visit. The entrance to their owned land was a wooden archway, coupled with walling and some traditional lanterns that were currently unlit. The doors were wide open, but there was a chain draped across displaying the basic no trespassing private property message.[break][break]
There was a guardian that surveyed the area, but he was Elijah's dog and so Guy kindly convinced him to take a break. He wanted privacy in such a beautiful place and personally had no fear of trespassers. In fact he welcomed the opportunity to play. Beyond the gates were large flat rocks that acted as stairs and lead up to a balcony platform that overlooked a large body of the crystal water this park was famous for.[break][break]
The platform had a section of stairs leading downwards to a dock that touched the transparent water where he currently resided. There was a small waterfall that graced the body of water that showed atop it a rather attractive vacation home. It didn't appear large upon first glimpse, but one only needed to know the secrets of the old building to understand how large it actually was.[break][break]
His family had owned this land for a long time and the entire area was purposely build to hold a Chinese architecture. It was something a previous leader had obsessed over for a time, but he was no more like all leaders of their cult.[break][break]
Guy swam silently through the lake and could only hear the cascading sound of the nearby waterfall as he exercised peacefully. He came there often and loved the solitude and beauty of this area.[break][break]
His mind remained blank as he swam back and forth touching a rock formation on the opposite end of the dock and then swimming back, however midway through his swim he could feel the vibration of his cellphone within his swim shorts pocket. The angel withdrew the waterproof device and answered.[break][break]
"No, he hasn't arrived yet," he spoke smoothly to someone on the phone before ending the call and continuing his laps. There was an agent Elijah wanted him to meet, but the man was a day late and Guy was beginning to think his step brother had set him up. Despite that seeming like a terrible thing, the young angel didn't react as such and merely swam undisturbed.
Saint Eden Gardens was very reminiscent of Mikail City, and a breath of fresh air for the gifted sixteen year old. Lorsette wasn’t at all like her previous home and the idea of so many different species all inhabiting the same living quarters felt so bizarre and foreign to her. As much as she resented Saint Angels high school, Thannah didn’t resent the city itself, and had learned that she preferred it to her new life here in Lorsette. [break][break] Thannah expelled a long sigh as she slowed to a stop before a wooden wall and gate that extended for quite a ways and housed in a secluded area of the park. She recognized the structure to be of Chinese culture, two stone lanterns at either side of the gate’s entrance, although currently unlit. The gate itself was surprisingly open and the iron linked chain that looked to have once been hooked across the entrance way had fallen to the ground in a dusty heap, along with the plastic “no trespassing” sign. [break][break] Well, that was certainly… interesting. [break][break] From where she stood she was given ample view of the gardens that were housed in the private area alongside the stone-slab pathway that led up to a sidewalk that disappeared behind thick foliage. Thannah glanced around the area, although she was not so naive to rely on her eyes alone. She focused and amplified her range of hearing thoughts and carefully listened for anyone to filter into her mind. [break][break] No thoughts came, no presence of others minds. She had somehow come across a very interesting and private dwelling, the doors opened and the chain carelessly laying in the path — why, it was the… perfect opportunity. Thannah purposely kicked up quite a bit of sand, which landed perfectly over the no trespassing sign, effectively covering, before she stepped into the grounds. [break][break] With a smile drawing her lips, she ventured up the stone-slab pathway and down the sidewalk to the second, smaller, more quaint wooden fence, which held no warnings of any kind, and was perfectly acceptable for her to open as she stepped to the other side. The area opened up into a flourishing and beautiful garden of highly manicured and maintained landscaping. [break][break] Thannah stepped out onto a wooden boardwalk and came to the railing, folding her arms over the top as peered down into the crystal clear waters of the lake below. However, her violet gaze quickly widened the moment she realized that a male was already occupying the waters, swimming back and forth in what looked to be an exercise regimen. Opening her mind to the area, she could decipher that this man was indeed the only one here. And so she wasn’t at all afraid, or intimidated by her circumstances. In fact, she was quite intrigued, and remained boldly where she was, peering down from the boardwalk, wondering what would come of this situation.
The approach of the girl didn't alert Guy and so he had no thoughts on her. But he did naturally finish his exercise regiment and soon lifted himself up and out of the water and onto the docks. The sound of water dripping onto the docks mixed with the natural sounds of the trees blowing in the wind. [break][break]
It was only then that he sensed the company of another and he immediately glanced upwards and onto the higher balcony that housed a girl. He recognized her right away and smiled at her as he drew is goggles off and chuckled. [break][break]
"Thannah," he spoke her name in a way that sounded surprised and in truth he was. But it wasn't an extraordinary surprise to him. In fact his mind was rather calm about the whole ordeal. But memories of their previous meetings did flash inside his head. [break][break]
She was a special girl who he had taken care of over the years. He moved towards the stairs and scooped up his towel as he came to the second level of the docks. [break][break]
"Lorsette is the last place I expected to see you. When did you arrive?" Guy spoke his expression that of a charming man, his eyes warm, and his voice charismatic. But his question was forward, everything about his statement was bold.
When the male finally surfaced from the water and climbed up onto the docking platform below, Thannah could feel the very real heat that began to accumulate within her cheeks as her violet gaze roamed over the wet and naked expanse of the man’s upper torso. She could not deny his handsomeness nor the fact that he looked to be a professional swimmer of some kind dressed the way that he was. [break][break] Thannah’s petite posture stiffened, her heart thumping a little quickly in her chest, when the man’s gaze riveted up to where she stood at the railing. Her small and manicured figures gripped more tightly at the wood and she offered the male a polite and shy smile as he removed his goggles and addressed her. [break][break] “Thannah,” He spoke her name with such surety, but it was certainly the sharply contrasting eye colors of the male, as he stared up at her, that faltered her expression into shock. A manifestation of thoughts cascaded into her mind, via the many conversations she had between Guy Pierceton through the years, and shock continued to reverberate through her small frame, her heart nearly jumping into her throat. [break][break] Suddenly, his last conversation with her bombarded her senses; his disappointment in her, his reveal to the truth behind the words written within her planner, and his decision to break off their long-standing friendship. But, of course, as he addressed her, none of those things were present. His rejection of her had been quite a heartbreak during a desperate time in her life when she had needed him to be there for her. [break][break] Thannah sealed her emotions behind a critical mask of indifference, although nothing could stop the treacherous pounding of her heart. “Lorsette is the last place I expected to see you. When did you arrive?” He asked her in such a casual and conversational manner that Thannah felt lost. She had bargained for more than she could handle. G-Guy Pierceton!? [break][break] “U-Um…,” She fretted and folded her hands together for support on the railing. “This… July.”
Excitement surged within him when he saw her being bombard with memories of him. It was such a wonderful thing to see and it caused his smile to broaden more. But he did notice how her expression became far too neutral for his liking shortly after.[break][break]
"U-Um...this...July." She told him as her fingers tightened against the railing. Guy's multicolored eyes focused on her fingers and he was easily taking note of every aspect of her. She may have been wearing a mask, but he could see through it from her body language. It was something he was very good at...he had to be or he would be destroyed. "Are you not happy to see me?" He asked her with that same forwardness as he stepped towards her with a smile and gestured for her to follow him.
Thannah’s emotions were in chaos and the intrusion of Guy’s thoughts were unwanted, if only because they weren’t under her control. The loss of her ability to control herself, her powers, and her emotions, was very reminiscent of the last day at Saint Angels middle school; and she didn’t like it one bit. His thoughts infiltrated her mind, once again in a tone of belittlement and disappointment. She wasn’t certain how he could so boldly assume she was wearing a mask, or equally as undaughtily believe that he could see straight through her. [break][break] She didn’t want to be a disappointment to him. She didn’t want to hear his thoughts on her failures, and be reminded of that time. He had been the only person she had ever truly trusted, ever believed in, and had… loved. [break][break] “Are you not happy to see me?” He asked her, again, with a boldness that she couldn’t quite grasp, and she suddenly felt very little in his much larger and intimidating shadow. When he beckoned for her to follow, she fell in line wordlessly and without complaint. [break][break] ‘You can do this, Thannah…,’ She tried to calm herself, calm her nerves, and gain back some of the control that had shattered during their meeting. [break][break] “On the contrary, I…,” She started, and blushed, her heart doing a little flip-flop in her chest. “I’m both happy and sad,” She told him honestly, and looked to him with an imploring expression for the time they had spent together and the time they had lost.
There it was the cracking of her emotions, and much like before they filled him with a happy warmth. He loved seeing deep into people and their meeting was a much needed distraction from the peaceful time he had spent within Shuǐjīng estate.
Guy had bombarded her and was now tugging her along with a string as she obediently followed him up to his temporary resident. When she spoke he glanced back towards her, his ice blue eye settling comfortably onto her.[break][break]
'Sad?' Guy questioned the word, but then like an unimportant memory their last time together filtered into his mind. It hadn't been a sad moment to him, but he did remember clearly now that it had been quite the opposite for her. [break][break]
Her world had crumbled that day hadn't it? How unfortunate... but despite his thoughts there was joy inside of him over the entire ordeal.[break][break]
"Tell me then," he asked and reached for her hand to gently guided her up a rather steep stepping stone. Guy had no thoughts of worrying for her, but rather the gesture was robotic empty, but his face was always oh so charming.[break][break]
"How have you been since...our last moments together?" He asked, pausing to purposely lower his eyes from her briefly. His voice made it sound like a tragic romance. [break][break]
Beyond them stood the Shuǐjīng estate, it looked to be one story high and was long but not hugely so, and it was nestled deeply within the thick folio of the forest that made it appear smaller than it was.
Thannah’s deep violet eyes riveted to Guy as he peered back at her and seemed to mentally question her word. There was a very mild hint of confusion as the word sat between them, unspoken and yet not. When he began to relive the moment, she purposely muted herself and used the opportunity to further gain control of the situation. The thought of Guy being so thoroughly disappointed in her as a person still, to this day, stung at her heart. He had been a recurring person in her life, always seeming to gallop in like a prince on his white steed, to save her from whatever tragedy had been gripping her at the time. [break][break] “Tell me then,” He stated as his slender fingers guided over her own, grasping them, and her pink colored fingernails, in order to help her up the climb. Thannah realized, as she brought her wide-eyed gaze to the Chinese architecture building, that she was being led into the estate. “How have you been since… our last moments together?” He asked her in what seemed to be such a meaningful way, and it brought a genuine blush to her cheeks as she brought her gaze back to him. [break][break] “...Well,” She had hesitated for only the mearist of a moment. Although her mind did, strangely enough, wander back to the demon she had met. He had been such a devilish boy, although all good and heroic on the inside. The thought tugged a smile to her lips as she peered over the impressive ancient designs of the estate. [break][break] Finally, feeling as though she could handle the invasion, she turned her power up to once again listen to Guy Pierceton’s most intimate and private thoughts. It was quite… thrilling, really, to be able to get into the mind of the man she had revered and harbored a not-so-secret crush on her whole life. [break][break] “Lorsette is certainly different than Mikail,” She forged on, all pleasant smiles and twinkles in her eyes as she gazed back into his handsome face. “What about you? How have you been?”
The blush that graced her cheeks was a reminder of how she had always been with him, delicately infatuated. How much about her had changed since their last meeting? He certainly hoped she had learned from the lessons she had endured during middle school. But only time together would give him that answer. [break][break]
It was so very perfect that she happened across him. But then all of their meetings had been fated hadn't they? Yes, Thannah was a special girl to him. He mentally grinned, but kept his face respectful as she told him how Lorsette was different than her previous home. [break][break]
A chuckle echoed in his mind as he thought about how she was referring to the mixed species, yes that was different. Ztaria was very specific in the tier of species, but Guy had never cared for such a suffocating chart. How could one grow in strength if they segregated who they interacted with? It was a wasted opportunity. [break][break] "What about you? How have you been?" She asked with that twinkle in her eye as she modestly took notice of the estate they were vast approaching. What greeted her in return was hardly what she expected, because Guy's mind quickly went over what he had gone through since their last meeting...and it was a jumbled intensity of a multitude of terrible and dark things. But still his angelic smile remained and as both of his eyes settled onto her. [break][break]
"Why I've been wonderful," he lied because why would he worry a lady such as her? He chuckled in his mind again amused with himself as he began pushing open the front door to the wide living room area. [break][break]
"I hope you don't mind," he began and was referring to the fact that he had brought her into his home. "But I'm ever so curious to speak with you further. It isn't often that I see a familiar face since I'm prone to so much travel." Guy told her as he gestured for her to take a seat while he disappeared behind a divider to get dressed.
Thannah secretly surveyed Guy from under the heavy fall of her eyelashes, keeping her expression a polite and neutral smile as she waited for his unspoken thoughts to echo around them. Echo they did not; with an abruptness that could startle, Guy’s memories seemed to scorch the air around them in a blaze of strife and horror. Although, she could only make out the voices, it was very apparent that they had come to Guy as a vivid kaleidoscope of images. [break][break] For as much as she had prepared herself, Thannah nonetheless stiffened as the desperate and sorrowful wailing of a woman pierced the air, followed by the sound of a man’s voice as he spoke in a condescending chipper manner about their father’s death. The voices rushed by like lightning, almost too quick to decipher; another man, much older, and gruffer in tone, spoke about help and blood, but other voices intertwined, the word sickness coming out, before it all came to an abrupt halt. A deadly silence in the wake of so much chaos, that had Thannah’s heart thundering in her chest. [break][break] “Why I’ve been wonderful,” Guy told her in the most charismatically and sweeping tone as he opened the front door to reveal a wide living area. “I hope you don’t mind.” There was a ringing in her ears from the fright she had just endured, and she was sure that she looked slightly shaken as her large, violet, eyes roamed to look to Guy. She swallowed against the dryness that had formed in her throat, but as he insisted that he was curious to speak with her, and invited her inside, she gave him a flourishing smile, that couldn’t quite stay true, as she stepped inside to take a seat for herself. [break][break] “It is such a shame… that you must travel so much,” Thannah spoke up as she watched the divider wall where she knew he was behind and changing. Her statement was selfish, although she was none the wiser, only thinking of her own distraught over his frequent traveling endeavors. “Although it is quite… mystifying, if I-I don’t say so myself, that we… keep running into each other like this.” She told him a little whimsically.
Thannah knew nothing about his life or his constant moving about, but she didn't ask and he liked that about her. He enjoyed divulging himself at his own pace, not by the demand of others. He paused as she spoke at the perfect time when he was completely nude. It didn't bother him though as he looked to the divider and listened to her voice.[break][break]
Guy then continued to get dressed pulling on underwear, dark blue jean pants, and a white dress shirt that clung to his wet skin in certain parts. [break][break]
Mystifying was a wonderful word and it brought a smile to his mouth as he stepped into view of her now fully dressed with his hair completely dry thanks to the rubber hat he had worn. She was seated prettily on a Chinese sofa that clashed with the colors of her clothes. His bare foot stepped down one small wooden step as he approached her.[break][break]
"It is," he began and drew his eyes from her as he peered out towards the window before looking back to her. "But that's what I've always loved about our fated meetings." He told her with a chuckle as he moved to take a seat on a singular chair that gave him the perfect view of his old friend.[break][break]
"I imagine we'll be attending the same school again here too." He revealed because there was no point in hiding it. Since public schools were always where he ended up. "Tell me," he began without giving her time to reply to his statement because he wanted to test her composure again.[break][break]
"Have you kept in contact with those girls?" Guy asked his eyes narrowing on her darkly as he waited with silent anticipation, watching her, studying her with an unnatural amount of attention.
Thannah’s cheeks were a bright pink, her heart doing a little thump in her chest, as Guy Pierceton’s thoughts echoed in the room around her. She had the perfecting timing to speak up, of course, when he was completely nude. Since the two of them were completely hidden from one another, Thannah brought one of her hands up to give herself a dainty little fan, her heart thumping a little wildly with the excitement she felt at Guy’s handsomeness. Of course, she had never been with anyone intimately before, but she couldn’t deny she had fantasized herself with Guy; her dashing Angel Prince whom had come to be apart of her life during various ages. [break][break] Thannah quickly sat straight and brought both of her hands down into her lap, smiling prettily and attentively, as Guy stepped out from behind the divider, now fully clothed and fully the male she had remembered from a couple years prior. He had grown further, matured more, and just kept getting more handsome. “It is,” He agreed as he began to step toward her. “But that’s what I’ve always loved about our fated meetings.” [break][break] When she heard as much her heart thumped in her chest, especially when he chuckled deeply, and then sat down within the singular chair in order to get the “perfect” view of her. Thannah felt herself blush even more, t-to realize that she was the center of his attention. She found herself completely besotted. [break][break] “I imagine we’ll be attending the same school again here too.” He revealed, and Thannah had to make an effort to keep her expression the dainty, shy, blush that it was. Inwardly, her heart sank, as terror and doubt crept into her breast. “Tell me, have you kept in contact with those girls?” Thankfully, she had already been holding the control to her emotions and expression, otherwise she may have flinched under his scrutiny and question. [break][break] And she had, of course, also become unexpectedly aware of his deep desire to gauge her reaction. His thoughts were charged and sizzling with the anticipation he felt, dissecting her like an animal in biology class. [break][break] And Thannah unexpectedly smiled, the most prettiest, sweetest, and innocent smile. It just came to her mouth, flourishing, and she felt a rise of power begin to beat within her chest. “I haven’t,” She told him and feigned a little pouting frown, and even brought tears to her eyes to make them wet and glossy as she stared across the sofa toward him imploringly. “I’ve… learned my lesson.”
A mixture of emotions greeted him, and their vast contrast from each other was something Guy silently took note of. She went from prideful to broken as though it were perfectly acted out in sync. But that was a mere note that he logged away deep within his conscious. There was far more to analyzing someone then jumping to conclusions.[break][break]
He did enjoy the way her violet eyes flared to life with emotion and the switch was enjoyable to watch. But words were useless without more material. If her reaction was true then she hadn't grown in the way he had wanted. If the mere mentioning of those girls brought her to tears then she would never truly overcome them.[break][break]
A hum left him as one elongated finger tapped the bottom of his lip thoughtfully as he seemed to be taking in her words quite heavily. "Fascinating," he told her with a empty warm smile as he rose and easily changed the subject. Not on purpose, but because he never truly felt any sympathy for her in the first place.[break][break]
"Are you thirsty? Do you drink tea or coffee?" Guy asked with a curious tone in his voice, and within his mind. Every bit of information was always a puzzle piece no matter how small or insignificant it may have seemed to the less observant.
Thannah inwardly wondered what Guy’s fascination was toward his lessons on betrayal, and the importance behind her overcoming the trials of what had happened to her in middle school. He didn’t hesitate to change the subject, telling her simply that it was fascinating to hear that she had learned her lesson — although inwardly he did not believe so. The inside knowledge caused her to smile at him in a cute and dainty manner as he rose and offered her something to drink. [break][break] “Oh, tea,” Thannah gave a curt nod. She found him to be fascinating, with his incessant need to know every detail of the human psyche. There certainly was a lot more going on underneath than she had realized and Guy Pierceton, by far, was the most interesting she had delved into the mind of.
