Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Failure to post on this AC will result in your accounts being marked inactive or deleted. Please note, due to a late start, the due date for this check has been adjusted for one time and one time only.
even after all these months she clearly hadn't gained their trust. otherwise she would of came here alone. hell, she was lucky enough she was out here, by herself. why did she feel like she was on some sort of field trip with a chaperone. oh, because that's exactly what it was. though she honestly, wasn't having much fun.
she sighed. right now she didn't want to think about that. she wanted to clear her thoughts. honestly, she just wanted to get out of the house. she needed time alone. being stuck with someone twenty four hours a day was getting to her. they were so strict with her. it wasn't like she had planned to run away. though truth be told that's exactly what she had been planning. she exhales. this was getting her nowhere. she just wanted to leave, but now she was stuck.
she continued her walking, with no destination in mind. though she should of probably dressed more appropriately. a dress and flats were not meant for long walks in the woods. she glanced down at her watch, it was still to early to wait for the sun to set. if she stayed out too long, she was certain a search party would be sent out. she rolled her eyes at the though. she had been so lost in her thoughts she almost missed the snapping of a twig. without turning around she called out."it hasn't even been an hour and you're following me already."with arms crossed she turned around to see who had been following her.

[attr=class, bulk] Spring had become a representation of freedom from the abhorrent situation Bram arrived from, his graciousness meeting no bounds. Animals had assisted him on his journey from Aria Village to the sanctuary Lorsette would inevitably provide him. Only for little over a month had the young faekin lived in the large city, his escape plan operating as he prayed it would. Days of struggling to establish a life only resulted in the young man becoming stronger as he found a stable place to stand. The TRS had allowed him to stay in the dorms under the agreement he would accomplish odd jobs around the facility to pay for his keep; at least until his apprenticeship was completed.
[break][break]
Fortunately, this morning he was granted the pleasantry of a day off because of the efforts he placed into assisting the TRS. Merely listening to the words 'day off' already manifested a clear picture on where exactly he wished to spend the rest of his day. When classes were completed, Bram hastily left the classroom, binders and textbooks being returned to his dorm before he packed a small bag. Water bottles and a small lunch was placed into his satchel, the young man sliding it around his body. It hung from his shoulder, crossing his torso and resting on the opposite hip of his body.
[break][break]
Once prepared, Bram hurried out of the dorm, heading to the front doors of the training center. On the pleasantly warm day, most people would be surprised to witness the young faekin wearing a pair of dark-coloured jeans and his usual grey sweater. Around his right wrist dangled the temperature regulating bracelet that allowed for his style to be accomplished without repercussions. The young man's journey towards the forest was accomplished quickly, his long, quick strides carrying him down the sidewalks of Lorsette and towards the trees of Calico Forest.
[break][break]
Upon reaching the city's edge, a broad grin stretched across the dark-haired man's face. Already he could sense the liveliness inside the forest, the animals potentially lurking inside. Giddily, Bram sprinted forward, heading down the old dirt paths, his eyes wandering around. The sounds of chirping birds and creatures scurrying around the underbrush filled his ears, although, there was a pause to his happiness. A subtle frown touched his lips as a soft sigh escaped his mouth. If only Vance could witness be around to enjoy the atmosphere with him.
[break][break]
Ever since he escaped from his parents, Bram's heart longed for Vance's attention. Despite the abuse his parents inflicted on him, the faekin wished he could have stayed, solely to remain with his crush. A soft sigh escaped Bram's lips as he shoved his hands into his sweater pockets, the young man proceeding forward. Eventually, he diverged off the path, encompassing himself in nature. He prayed surrounding himself with animals and plants would provide him with a sense of happiness again. As he walked, Bram's eyes observed the trees for birds, some flapping joyously between the branches.
[break][break]
There a twitch to the faekin's lips, a sad smile breaching his face as he watched the birds play. Attention was completely fixated on the birds above, only returning when the hardy snap of a twig filled his ears. He jumped slightly, caught off guard by the unexpected noise. The sounds of fluttering wings accompanied with a voice followed, Bram's eyes flitting towards a woman with short brown hair.
[break][break]
"I-I'm sorry... ma'am..." He began quietly, flinching at the allegation. "I wasn't following you... I'm just on a walk..."
[break][break]
The explanation was quiet, Bram's shyness firmly grasping his composure. Bashfully, the dark-haired man refused to make eye contact, a subtle sign which could potentially lead to somebody believing he was guilty. The man's pink eyes were locked on the ground below, his nerves worrying him about the allegation this woman placed on his shoulders. Following somebody through the forest was not the faekin's objective, but rather, discovering enjoyment in ravishing nature.
seriously why were they here right now. she had told them exactly where she was going. it wasn't like she was going to runaway, again. despite the warnings and the reasons she was allowed to come here. she still took a chance. despite all her training, they were still stronger than her.
she was about to speak up once. she stayed quiet as soon as she heard an unfamiliar voice. she sighed softly as soon as she heard them speak. she knew she had made a mistake. turning to face them she began to explain. she had been annoyed when she spoke. it seemed like she had scared the poor kid."sorry, i thought you were someone else."well, isn't that wonderful. yelling at strangers in the woods.
"promise i don't bite."aurora said with a small laugh. she was trying her best to defuse the obvious tension that was in the air."once again, i apologize. didn't mean to interrupt your walk."she tells him with a smile. alright, how many times was she going to apologize. with that, she turned and started walking once more. surely the kid was out here to be alone. it's why she had come out and well to get away from them.
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] Silence grasped Bram as he nervously interacted awaited the young woman's response, his concerns about the random accusation making him stand awkwardly. The young faekin hands grasped together, remaining in front of him while his pink eyes flitted down, fixating on the grass which subtly moved from the breeze. Never being a social person, Bram was forced to maintain this awkward front. All he desired was a leisurely walk through Calico Forest, but instead had accidentally disturbed a stranger and found himself in a rather common situation for most people; mistaking others could be easily done.
[break][break]
Nonetheless, Bram's timid nature made it difficult for him to avoid giving the air of cowardice when it was merely his shyness firmly embracing his mind. These were the moments he wished for Vance's assistance, his crush's social prowess was always better than his own. Fortunately, the woman recognized he was not the individual she perhaps thought he was, which was a relief to the young man. Despite the apology, the young faekin avoided making eye contact with the young woman and instead did a quick skim over her appearance.
[break][break]
Short, brown hair, pale skin, brown eyes and a dress wrapped around her form; she appeared similar to a regular girl. Currently, species was undiscernable because of a lack of physical traits to provide Bram with a clue. The words followed by a small laugh resulted in the faekin reciprocating an awkward and brief laugh. Another apology for the interruption was provided, Bram's eyes briefly flitting towards her before retreating. Bashfully, his hands twitched, making subtle movements to display his anxieties.
[break][break]
"It's not a problem," he responded slowly. "Um... why are you out here? ... If I may ask..." [break][break]
The smile stretching across the woman's lips suggested she was friendlier to strangers, or at least, towards anybody besides the individual she thought he was. Either way, the simple facial expression resulted in Bram desiring to give the woman a chance. Since running away from the abusive household which raised him, the faekin found himself lonely because of his inability to adeptly socialize. Friendless and lonesome, it made it difficult for him to adjust to his new home and only made him miss Vance more.
aurora wasn't sure what to do with the boy. surely he had his own reasons for being out here alone. she had hers. this was all rather awkward. he had appeared like he was ready to cry. now he seemed less likely. she was certain apologizing helped.
she had been ready to start walking. figuring he wanted to be alone. after all he was out here by himself. she didn't see anyone else with him. even if they had been walking slower than him surely he wouldn't leave them behind. his question brought her back."what?"she hadn't expected him to continue their awkward conversation. he did look fairly young. the young ones could be rather shy. well, some not all.
"just running away for a bit. not literally. i'm going home after this."she said with a playful laugh."i felt a little restless and someone was annoying me. walks usually help me relax."she told him with a nod. she knew better than to try to run. she was already threatened with being returned home. she wasn't about to let that happen just yet. hell, she didn't ever want to go back. she honestly had no idea what she was going to do if and when she found him."your turn. are you running away too?"she asked with with a smile.
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] Socializing was constantly an awkward experience for Bram, his severe lack of social prowess making the activity extremely difficult. There were instances where he desired to improve his abilities in conversations, however, the dark-haired man still tended to fail in the category. The shyness which surrounded him made it nearly impossible to socialize on some occasions, the young man oftentimes depending entirely on Vance for assistance. Unfortunately, at this moment, the faekin found himself alone and without the emotional support of his crush; he was forced to awkwardly attempt to maintain the conversation.
[break][break]
The simple 'What?' in response resulted in Bram's smile wavering as his pink eyes awkwardly stared at the underbrush, unable to move. Perhaps he should have shut his mouth and allow the conversation to cease... Fortunately, the brunette eventually answered his inquiry, providing the young man with some relief. There was a brief silence as Bram attempted to figure out where the conversation should go. He genuinely wished he possessed some degree of capability in these social situations, however, his parents sheltered him and the Fae were unable to teach him everything.
[break][break]
Quietly, Bram had listened to her reasons behind heading into the forest for a pleasant walk, yet, he maintained an air of anxiety around him. When the question was reciprocated, the dark-haired man's eyes flitted towards the brunette. The smile stretched across her lips was a soothing sight since it suggested he was actually accomplishing an adequate job of conversing.
[break][break]
"Well... um... no... I just have a day off... and I haven't really explored the forest here," he explained, a shy man's quietness in his tone.
[break][break]
A fragile, awkward smile touched Bram's face as he gracelessly avoided the notion of running away. Admitting he was a runaway was a frightful notion, the young man knowing he needed to remain hidden else his abusive parents would discover his whereabouts and drag him back into the house of hell. Escaping the horrible home situation was the main objective, however, now he needed to never return despite how much he missed Vance.
she laughed softly. it seemed well at least to her that she had thrown him off with the runaway comment. she was glad that he didn't take her seriously. had she been more convincing maybe he would of taken her seriously.
it wasn't like she hadn't convinced some poor fool of it. the countless times she had tried to escape. she rarely planned her escapes. they were spontaneous and if the time and place was right then she would go for it. it was always when they were out in public. she was fast, but of course they were faster.
she would resort into finding some poor soul to take pity on her. fabricating some outlandish tale about how she was taken against her will or that someone was following her. of course they were, they were trying to keep her from escaping and keep her on the task at hand. finding him.
of course no one was every strong enough or they simply pushed her aside and ran. she couldn't help, but laugh at times. she was allowed to have fun once in a while right? she dismissed those thoughts and nodded at the boy's response."that's nice. oh, are you new around here?"she asked curiously.
she really wanted to get back to walking. she had nowhere to go, but she came out here for a walk."do you want me to show you around? there's a cute stream around here. sorry, i've only been out here a couple of times myself. it's rather easy to get lost around here."
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] The soft laugh which escaped the brunette’s lips suggested his dishonest answer was accepted. Relief flowed over Bram similar to a river, calmness wrapping around him after narrowly avoiding being dubbed a runaway. Even in joking manners, the faekin refused to declare himself as one, his endless fears of discovery silencing the notion of admitting. Nobody had warranted the truth since Bram knew there was a chance he would be dragged home to them. The parents who angrily raised their fists and bruised his delicate body while screaming derogatory comments. To them, he was worthless, stupid and a poor excuse for a son; the mere thought made him visibly shake.
[break][break]
Terrifying memories of his parent’s abusive attitudes always reminded Bram he needed to remain vigilant. Alas, every second he avoided contact with home, his lonesomeness would increase. He lacked friends and his beloved brother stayed alongside his parents, unbeknownst to the abhorrent situation. Nervousness wrapped around the dark-haired man as he hesitantly proceeded in the conversation with the stranger. Desires to vanquish the loneliness plaguing his daily life motivated Bram to slowly continue their interaction.
[break][break]
At the mention of being new around Lorsette, Bram nodded slowly. "Yeah... I... I don't know many people."
[break][break]
The words escaped his lips in a mumble, the dark-haired man's shyness naturally displaying itself. When the woman offered a tour of the forest, the bespectacled man quietly nodding in agreement. A soft, appreciative smile touched Bram's lips, however, there were tones of bashfulness to his expression. The Calico Forest was an interesting location after briefly wandering through the trees, thus the faekin was excited to have a tour guide. Nature made Bram feel a sense of comfort and safety, his keenness to plants and animals allowing happiness to transcend over him.
she felt like the clock was ticking. though she was sure that she still had plenty of time. it had been a long time since she had last tried to escape. surely they would text her before they did anything rash. besides where would she go if she did manage to escape? as much as she wanted to stop this stupid search, she couldn't without a proper plan.
honestly she just wanted to keep going. whether he joined her or not was up to him. she wasn't going to beg for him to come along. if he wanted to be alone then that was fine with her. all she wanted was to keep walking and to reach the stream at some point.
it seemed like her assumption had been correct. honestly with the way he was acting it surprised her that he would be out here all by himself."welcome to the neighborhood i guess."she said with a smile and a shrug. it didn't occur to her till that moment that she really hadn't introduced herself. all she had done thus far was yell at the poor boy and apologize every five seconds. she turned her back towards him and started to walk."i'm aurora by the way."she said after a moment a silence. she had looked over her shoulder to see if he was actually following her or not. once she had confirmed that he had in fact was following, she turned her attention back. debating whether or not she should ask something else. what could she ask though? she didn't want to seem like she was prying too much into his personal life. or maybe he would be fine with silence.
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] A deep breath was sucked into the depths of Bram's lungs as he attempted to maintain an air of calmness. Anxieties about these social situations always took effort for the shy faekin. Since his arrival in Lorsette, he never attempted to connect with anybody around him and take those steps to manifest friendship between him and another individual. The brunette would be the first person Bram reached out in a desperate attempt to establish a connection and avoid the horrible feelings of loneliness which haunted him daily.
[break][break]
An awkward smile remained on Bram's face, the young man mentally prepared himself for further conversation. These were the moments where the dark-haired man desired Vance's company. Oftentimes, he found his brother held an adeptness in social interactions and could assist him during a potential conversation. There was a smile on her face when she welcomed him, Bram bashfully smiling back and slowly nodding thanks. When the woman turned to begin walking, Bram quickly followed behind her, jogging slightly to walk close behind her.
[break][break]
Silently, the faekin followed behind the mysterious woman, not even thinking about walking beside her instead. A moment passed before somebody spoke, the woman introducing himself as Aurora.
[break][break]
"I'm Bram," he murmured quietly, his shyness displaying itself.
[break][break]
Quietness was easier to handle opposed to actual conversation, mostly because of Bram's failures in socializing. The dark-haired man desired friendship, however, his inability to socialize with other people made everything difficult. The soft sounds of birds chirping in the branches overhead earned Bram's attention. Promptly, a frown touched his face, why could animals not be adequate friends? Due to the dark-haired man's zoopathy, animals were favourable friends in these situations, alas, he unfortunately required human friends; how cruel...
aurora didn't mind the silence, she actually welcomed it. it was better to be quiet than to try to fill the void or force a conversation that wasn't going anywhere. she felt that it would just make things more awkward and where they were just a nice silence there then would be an air of awkwardness attached.
she figured if they would be spending some time together it was best if they knew each other's names. that way she didn't have to address him as hey you, boy or kid. she could just imagine the reaction. she almost missed what his name. he was really soft spoken. it was actually kind of nice. everyone else seemed so loud and obnoxious."just bram or is that short for abraham?"she asked curiously.
maybe she shouldn't of referred to herself as a tour guide. a tour guide knew random facts and secrets about the area. aurora honestly was just going to show him the most basic path and of course her favorite spot. she'd at least make sure he didn't get lost on the way toward her destination and heading back. ever so often she would peer behind her to make sure she hadn't lost him. was she walking too fast? or maybe he liked to walk a s slower pace? whatever the case she figured she could slow down just a bit."you know. i don't bite. well, not unless you want me to."she said with a wink before laughing softly. she couldn't pass up this opportunity to tease him just a little bit.
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] A silence was discovered between the pair, however, the soft sounds of life was a comforting noise throughout the walk. Birds cheerfully chirped above, wings fluttering and leaves rustling as they moved through the trees and played their games. Squirrels chattered above, their calls echoing through the trees. Wide-eyed, Bram glanced around at the wonderful scenery, admiring nature as done many times before. While he missed the familiar surroundings of his Dutch homeland, he managed to enjoy the Canadian wilderness for its differences when compared to his home.
[break][break]
A reserved smile curved onto Bram's face as he followed behind Aurora, forgetting his attempts at conversation. Nature's beauty was always a distraction for the shy, young faekin. As they proceeded on their path, the apprentice medic's pink eyes continued to wander, his smile growing wider when he witnessed fluttering butterflies or buzzing bees. Calico Forest was held a liveliness which attracted the young boy's wonderment. When conversation returned, Bram jumped slightly from the unexpected attempt to continue their socializing.
[break][break]
"Um... No... It's just Bram," he explained quietly. "At least... my family always called me Bram."
[break][break]
As they proceeded down the path, Bram remained behind Aurora, the socially awkward teen being unaware that proper protocol involved walking alongside the person. Rarely, the young man socialized with others, thus he was completely clueless about what was considered "proper". The teasing comment was unexpected, the wink followed by a laugh prompting Bram to awkwardly laugh in return before bashfully glancing away; he always struggled to handle teasing from strangers.
she shrugged."oh well, it's still a nice name."she told him as he explained that his name was simply bram and nothing else.
she really wasn't in that much of a hurry. she figured she could slow down just a bit. it wasn't like she was running."so this is the main path. it's pretty easy. there are some trail markers along the way."she tells him as she points out to one they are passing by."i don't really go off the path too much."
she really was a terrible tour guide. flirting with the poor kid and barely giving him enough information about what was around. then again she only stuck to this path.
should she strike up conversation again? maybe that would bother him? hadn't he said he wanted to make friends? or was she only assuming that was said because he was knew around town. with his jumpy nature she figured it wouldn't be a good idea to pry too much into his past. besides she honestly didn't care where he came from or why he was here. she was more than certain he didn't have any ties to him. so question on that matter was also out of the question.
she made an abrupt stop. she had been so lost in thought she had almost missed the other path."so i lied. i do go off the beaten path. though this path isn't to hard to find either. well, if you where where to look."she told him with a smile."i'd say it's my secret place, but honestly im pretty sure it's easy to find."she told him with a slight shrug. she kept walking down the new path and it wasn't too long the sound of water reached her ears."the stream isn't too deep in some places so it's nice to go for a dip now and again."she told him as she kicked off her shoes and dipped her feet.
Even if you know that you don't Own me I'll let you play the role
[attr=class, bulk] Social interactions were always difficult for Bram, the Dutchman's lack of communications outside his family in his childhood evidently affecting his current skills. Alas, the dark-haired man took a pinch of pride for managing reach this point in a conversation. In most situations, the faekin's awkwardness would have resulted in the other individual leaving because of Bram's inability. While concerns grew about his social capabilities, the young man was genuinely trying his best to socialize with Aurora.
[break][break]
The faekin's pink eyes gazed around the forest, returning to the brunette when she stated his name was nice. There was a subtle widening to Bram's eyes, surprised by the kindly compliment the woman provided. Few people admired his name, the majority finding it rather bland and simple. He possessed no qualms over the name his parents gave him, but he was nonetheless surprised to receive a compliment. Slowly, the corners of the bashful man's lips twitched up into a small, thankful smile over the benevolent remark he was granted.
[break][break]
"Thank you," he murmured quietly, but with a content tone. "You're name is nice too..."
[break][break]
Reciprocating the compliment felt like the proper course of action to be polite to the brunette. Communication difficulties could potentially create strains where people perhaps found him aloof, thus Bram genuinely tried his best. Gradually, they toured through the forest, Bram listening to the words Aurora stated. Slowly, the dark-haired man nodded at her words, glancing at the trails she mentioned. Occasionally, the faekin would wander off the paths to meet the animals which lived in the Calico Forest.
[break][break]
He followed her, the woman's abrupt stop prompting him to cease movement inches away from Aurora. Hastily, Bram took a few careful steps back, creating some distance between himself and the brunette. A soft laugh escaped his lips, a slight awkwardness evident in it despite his amusement. They turned off the main path, Bram following Aurora carefully. The sounds of trickling water filled his ears, a small smile gracing the faekin's lips as they closed in on the stream. Once they arrived, Bram watched the water glisten over the flowing stream.
[break][break]
Immediately, the smile broadened, the dark-haired man hurrying towards the water and glancing around at the area. When the woman spoke and slipped her shoes off to dip her feet in, Bram curiously watched her.
[break][break]
"Um... Are there any fish? ... Like minnows?" Bram inquired, pink eyes searching for the tiny fish.
[break][break]
After arrival, Bram researched and explored the nature in the area. Unfortunately, being confined to his parents' home because of the abuse limited where they allowed him to go. Thus, today was the best opportunity for the dark-haired man to thoroughly explore everything.
she really wasn't expecting much a reaction. seeing the smile on his face nonetheless was nice. there was just something about him. he had an air of innocence. it was actually quite refreshing. she might be able to relax around him and he didn't seem to mind her teasing. she smiled back at him when she said the same about her name. she didn't mind it. she was just glad her mother didn't pick something longer. her mother loved stargazing, astronomy and the like. she thought back on a time aurora has asked her who had picked out her name.
"you're so sweet, thanks. it was either aurora or andromeda."she told him."my mother loves the northern lights. plus it was easier to spell."she said with a small laugh.
she had stopped abruptly almost missing the turn. she turned her head and saw him backing up a couple of steps."my bad."she said with a small laugh before proceeding towards the stream. she figured it wouldn't be too difficult. she had picked up her pace once she spotted the water. kicking her shoes off and testing the temperature of the water before walking right in. she gripped her dress to make sure it didn't get wet, while she walked further in. she turned around hearing bram's question. for a second she had forgotten he was there."the water's fine."she encouraged him."i'm not sure. i'll check over here."she told him as she stopped moving and started to search."i see something shiny and it's definitely not a rock."she told him with a laugh.
