Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Heat has broken through into a glorious summer. The snow has entirely dried through the spring, leaving to the brilliance of the warmer months. Terror activity has risen as people are brought out of their homes, leaving the TRS in a position of consistent work. Each are attempting to maintain victory in the endless struggle for power.
With April, an activity check has arrived for members to do! Please post on the AC and tag all your accounts, including WIPs and OOC accounts. Matthew hadn't been planning on attending the party, but after a few minutes of sitting around in his room alone he chose to get dressed and leave his place. It was a nice night outside, of course he hadn't left for the sake of going to some stupid party, he left because he was curious on where Wren had gone. As soon as his friend left, his husband had left without him. To his wonderful Wren he was only a repairmen, if only he knew that he was so much more then that. He was well aware of the parties going on around both Lorsette and Aria Village. He spent extra caution, avoiding being noticed by the TRS people as he continued on his walk. If Wren was anywhere near there, he was bound to find out sooner or later, but until then, he would continue on his walk towards the beach instead.
He was never one for lingering on his thoughts but when he had those moments the beach was the best place to go at night. Less people were around and he would have the chance to look at the ocean while he would think. It was a beautiful night outside, that wasn't to say that other people would agree with him, seeing as he could be out at night but only because the Terrors wouldn't bother him. With a small sigh, he found himself sitting on the sand as he looked across the water. He seriously didn't have anything to worry about. His friend was AP, his beloved Wren was AP, and he was the real creator to Wren. What could possibly go wrong?

The night is young and the waves are calmly reaching the shores. It is exactly the atmosphere Colette loves.
Modeling is tiring, even for a young veteran. She needs time for herself, the time to relax and simply rest from all the work forced into her. She decides that the sea is the best bet, and so she asks her driver to take her to Starlight Beach in the middle of the night. Of course, she had specifically asked him not to tell her grandmother about this, and he complies; everyone knows that defying Colette would mean the doom of them all. She is able to freely travel to the beach that she loves, to feel the water once more under her feet.
Brown eyes stare out of the sea while she stands at the distant shore, her eyes softening. Suddenly she remembers the country she was born to, now so far away and out of her reach. She knows she cannot return back to it again; in cases of tours and shows, she is able to, but to simply sight-see in that said country is already so much as impossible for her to do. She sighs and walks along the shore, allowing the water to touch her feet.
From the distance she could see a lone, sitting figure along the shore, but she doesn't care about strangers right now; she came here to relax, not to communicate without meaning. However, if they are to come and chat, she would entertain them, unless she is doing something important to ease her mind. Otherwise she would get extremely impatient.

tobi had decided like a fool to go out shopping. he wasn't shopping for presents. okay maybe just for one person. though he wasn't entirely sure what to get her. he had told himself he was just going out for a walk. he wasn't sure what it was about walking by oneself to clear your thoughts. he was hoping the walk would either distract him or give him ideas.
he really had no set destination. unaware how long he had been walkng. things were starting to become familiar to him. the more time he actually spent outside of zach's house exploring the more he discovered in lorsette. it went without saying. if you don't go out you won't know what you will discover.
he shoved his hands into his pockets as he debated going out onto the sand. the beach had a different vibe in the cold months. it wasn't as popular as it was during the warmer months. though there seemed to be a few people here and there. he watched them for a few seconds. noticing someone near the water? wasn't it freezing. he wondered what they were doing so close.
Matthew was too busy looking in front to notice Coco that had come to the beach just after him. Though he had noticed moment from the corner of his eye that had encouraged him to glance over to see her, but since she was so far away, he decided that he wasn't going to pay her any mind. He couldn't help but find her somewhat crazy to be going in the water when it was so cold outside. I wonder where my beloved Wren is at.... I might have gone to the party if he was with me... He couldn't help but feel bored. It seemed within a few minutes another person had joined them, though he had chosen to not walk out onto the sand.
He shrugged his shoulders, moving to lay back onto the sand, not caring that he would have sand all over his body, seeing as it wasn't that difficult to wash off. Coco remained in the water, he remained in his spot and that guy, he likely remained off the sand. Why the hell were they all here, that was the real question. "So besides it being empty, why are you two here? I bet that water is freezing and you aren't even taking the time to walk on the sand." He remained on his back, looking at the sky, not caring if they were in earshot to hear him or not. Though he wouldn't be repeating himself because frankly he didn't give a damn about their reasoning.
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
The waves entertain her, as usual. She feels only wetness, not the cold and heat. It's a normal thing for her as one of a species that both belong to fire and water. But her company does not know what she is yet. He does not need to know, however, nor is she compelled to tell him. Colette is fine with keeping her species a secret. It's not really important to know.
Sitting on the sand near the water, she hums and closes her eyes, listening only to the sounds of the waves and attempting to block anything else. The water touches her feet, and later her dress, but she doesn't care. Sooner or later she would turn into the creature she is born as, and the moonlight would soon touch her scales. Colette wants to swim. Being a siren would make things better.
She looks behind her shoulder and notices another figure walking along the sand. Now that's two males. She smiles to herself, almost laughing at her situation right now. How ironic to not have other females around the beach... but they don't seem to look like people who would attack her at this time of night. They seem to be interested in some people else... well, they looked like it. So there's no need to be cautious of her safety.
She is about to turn back when she hears one of her company asking what they are doing, and she figures it is addressed to her and to the newcomer. Colette smirks and faces him with a raised eyebrow. "Oh, nothing. Was just enjoying the waves, is all." She replies, eyes softening as she finally glances back to see the waves rocking back and forth once more. "It's peaceful to look at. It would be inevitable to not be able to swim in it at this time of night. I'll soon be turning into something else to enjoy the waves."
Colette figured it would be best to ask the question back. "...How about you, misters? What are you both doing here?"

it seemed like they had both called out to him. tobias was never great at starting conversations. he never had anything to talk about, besides small things like the weather or what not. though that really wasn't true. if you found a topic that he was interested in, he was like a completely different person. though that seemed like it could be said about others too.
he really wasn't expecting to stay as long as he did. though there was something so calming about the water, the waves and how they crashed on shore. it kind of put him in a relaxed state. he had heard them talking, but he had thought it had only been between themselves. being addressed by both he realized he was mistaken.
he wasn't sure if he should move closer. he could hear them okay, but perhaps it wouldn't hurt to move a little closer. he seemed to sink each time he took a step. eventually he sat down near the man, clearing his throat as he tried to find his voice."i was suppose to do some shopping, but the waves are so alluring. especially at this time."he said with a small laugh."isn't the water cold?"he asked her without thinking.
during this season it had to be absolutely freezing. though she seemed completely unfazed.
Matthew shrugged when Coco told him her answer, when the question was redirected at him he went silent. Tobias had started walking on the sand, it wasn't long before he asked Coco the same question, perhaps he hadn't been in ear shot to hear her answer. "I was looking for somebody, but as the saying goes, if you want to find somebody you might want linger in a spot instead of trying to search them out because if they are looking for you two, you have a fifty percent chance of missing them over finding them." It was easier then explaining that he wanted to see his Wren. The chances of people being feared by Wren was high and he didn't want to explain himself to these people. So you people weren't interested in the parties going on tonight. He thought to himself, choosing to not say that outloud. "Funny how we all wound up here when other things are going on tonight." He answered, mostly to himself but they likely heard because they were in earshot.
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
She receives answers from both men, and both intentions do seem interesting that it makes her wonder. Shopping? Looking for someone? In the middle of the night, of all times? Now it was quite unusual to think about, but then again, she could not judge the hobbies of people. Sitting near the cold water in the middle of the night was quite unusual in itself as well, but then again, it's her. People have their own hobbies.
One of them asks if it isn't too cold, and she simply chuckles in response. "It's probably cold for you, but no. I don't mind it at all." Something grows along her arms and legs, and she looks only to see fins starting to form from them. "I'm not just a human, after all. It's only natural for me to feel such things."
She feels slightly melancholic at the dark-haired man's words. It's a philosophy followed by most people she had known in life; finding someone while you both are walking around will only make things much more difficult for the both of you, but if one of you is still, it's easier. Her eyes soften and she turns to the horizon again, the moon shining brightly above the dark night sky. "...Reminds me of someone dearest to me before." She whispers in the wind, mostly to herself. They both don't need to hear that.
Colette stands up and walks into the water, and suddenly legs are transformed into an aquamarine mermaid's tail. She laughs, diving into the water, her hair and dress wet against the waves. She emerges again, and hears the same man's statement. She smirks and tosses her head back haughtily. "I've no time for parties. They're probably all just boring." She says, crossing her arms with a quirked eyebrow.

Where was Matt? The question was simple, and one Wren wished to answer quickly considering the attention he could inevitably receive from his beloved play toy. He found the repairman to be rather interesting, thus the golem endless craved his attention; he loved witnessing Matt react. Unfortunately, there was no superior tracking sense Wren could use to search for his dearest love. If only the creator would have granted him a sonar for detecting and locating Matt, especially considering his current company consistently failed to provide information about the blue-haired man's whereabouts.
[break][break]
After completing a murder on behalf of the Assembly of Phantoms, Wren had left the residence with his clothes clean and delusional eyes searching. There was only one individual he desired the attention of after the successful completion of a mission, which was his repairman. Unfortunately, his illusions proceeded to lead him in the incorrect directions, making him wander Lorsette in a lonesome, but a victorious state.
[break][break]
A butterfly of crystal which whispered directions to the main street was incorrect, Wren smashing his illusion in an alleyway to avoid disgusted glares; crystal butterflies were a rarity. A woman dressed in white insisted Matt was hidden in the outskirts, but proved to be wrong, thus Wren accomplished the "natural" response he believed anybody would and murdered her where she stood, although, unbeknownst to the golem, she was another hallucination which manifested from his desires to find Matt.
[break][break]
As a result, Wren aimlessly wandered the streets, disguised in a black cloak and a dark grey scarf. Make-up was caked onto his face to remove the stitches which crossed the bridge of his nose. Plenty of effort was placed into tightly braiding the golem's hair, much to the psychopath's delight, which was pulled behind his head and hidden inside his cloak. The long sleeves of a loose-fitting sweatshirt hid his hands, allowing for Wren to keep his enjoyably long nails. His handgun was strapped to his belt, hidden beneath his shirt and cloak.
[break][break]
There was an eerie silence to the golem's steps as he searched for Matt, passing several deceptions his schizophrenia created for him. Giant spiders crawling across the surface of buildings, repeating endlessly the question of where is Matt? until Wren wandered too far. Tiny villages on the sidewalks filled to the brim with people who poked his feet with toothpick sized spears; the golem maliciously crushed them for the tiny pains. Then naturally the moon with her sweet face, whispering ideas of what he could do to Matt once he found him.
[break][break]
There was a blur between reality and Wren's hallucinations, resulting in the golem occasionally getting confused as a result. After an extensive walk, the serial killer passed the beach, his green eyes glancing towards the water which whispered the name Matt to his ears. A survey was completed, the long-haired man's eyes locking directly on a blue-haired man sitting in the sand, conversing with other individuals.
[break][break]
A broad grin stretched across the psychopath's lips as he turned and sprinted towards his beloved Matt, even using his enhanced speed to carry him faster. Once close enough, he jumped, arms extended in hopes of capturing his dearest crush to promptly snuggle him; he cared little about possibly being recognized as a soldier.
[break][break]
"MATT! MY MATT! MY MATT!" He shouted, gleefully giggling as he sailed through the air. "I FOUND YOU!"
[break][break]
There was cheerfulness behind the loudly proclaimed words, Wren evidently being overzealous to finally discover his precious Matt. The golem provided no attention to his repairman's companions and instead fixated his attention entirely on Matt; he hated being separated from Matt.

he wasn't paying that close of attention to had been said prior to him moving closer towards them. the sheer fact that he even joined them was pretty unexpected for the timid boy. though they seemed pleasant enough. it wasn't gong to kill him to be a little more social, right? well, at least he hoped it would be a fairly normal conversations. as much as it could be when you talked to strangers on the beach during this time of night.
after sitting down in the sand he regretted it. it was so unusual for him to feel how cold it was. usually the sand would retain all the sun's heat. clearly it was winter and despite the sun being out it wasn't nearly as warm as it would be during the summer months.
he nodded at the responses they received to the various questions asked. he was about to say something else when someone's shouting visibly startled him. he watched as someone threw themselves on the guy sitting next to him.
Matthew was somewhat listening to her answers and sometime zoning out. Right this moment he wanted his Wren, oh how he wished to have his arms wrapped around his wonderful husband, the man he had brought back but had become known as only a repairman. He couldn't tell him the truth, not when his husband seemed in control of his mental illness. He had helped him forget, forget so that he was no longer in pain. He never wanted to see Wren in pain ever again. He had glanced over to see Coco had transformed. Tobias had taken a seat in the sand, as for him he remained laying on his back. Within a few minutes he had slowly sat up, deciding now would be the perfect time to leave since his dear Wren hadn't found him just yet. Of course he didn't have a chance to stand before he noticed Wren running towards him before wrapping his arms around him. "My Wren!" If it wasn't clear who he had been waiting on before, it would become clear.
This was Wren, his little serial killer, his husband. He pulled him tighter, laying against the sand once more. He chuckled when Wren declared how he had found him. "Yes, you did." Now see, this is why he had chosen to remain in the one spot, he knew Wren would find him sooner or later and to think if he hadn't showed up, he would have barely missed his beloved Wren. "Yeah, who needs a party when you can have your own." He answered, laughing at the idea of how they went from being only three people to now four. With Wren showing up, there was no telling who else might join them shortly. If Wren starts mentioning how he got a few kills in or if they figure out who he is, I won't worry too much. Neither of them appear to be a threat to my dearly Wren. Though I do want his attention all to myself so it would be in my best interest to keep him from killing them or at the very least, yet.
I DON'T THINK YOU'VE EVER TRIED BEING A ROLE MODEL BEFORE.
Colette should have guessed. The three of them wouldn't be the only ones to arrive along the shore. But the next stranger's grand entrance was over the top and too excitable, that for once Colette had actually questioned if the new arrival was someone who could not control their excitement all the time.
There was not much to tell about him, but there are scars all over the new arrival's face, scars she started to wonder about. But she is slightly turned off with the childishness in this man. Sure, they all have a purpose as to why they wound up here, but loudly proclaiming to have found someone as if they were a precious thing lost was more than ridiculous. If she'd found her boyfriend, she certainly wouldn't react that way.
( but then again, that ever happening would be more than unlikely as she doesn't plan on being in a relationship yet )
She smirks, crosses her arms; she tries to stifle the giggle that attempts to escape her throat, but she is unsuccessful in doing so. She laughs rather loudly, but immediately stops herself; sending a wink to the three boys, she dives into the water again without any more doubt, not paying attention to the three men for now.

Jovial giggles escaped Wren's mouth as he wrapped his arms tightly around his precious Matt. Once his dearest repairman was captured in his arms, the white-haired man shifted positions to plop down beside his favourite person. While his creator was crucial, he proved to be prone to committing appalling acts of abuse to the golem, resulting in Matt being favourable. After a few moments, the soldier settled comfortably beside the blue-haired man before snuggling him immensely, giggles proceeding to leave his mouth as he accomplished the action.
[break][break]
There was merely happiness from discovering Matt's location, Wren refusing to release the man by establishing a tight grip to their hug. The hood had miraculously remained on the psychopath's head, allowing for him to remain hidden from those who merely passed by. Should a TRS hunter manage to notice him without the hood, the situation could have become ugly quickly considering how renown Wren was as an Assembly soldier. After a few moments of affectionate snuggling, the golem managed to notice the white-haired stranger.
[break][break]
The serial killer lifted a brow, evidently curious about why his beloved would be spending time with a potential target. Despite his delusional thinking, Wren's creator assured to hammer in the identities of various Assembly of Phantoms associates, likely going lengths to program it in to avoid any errors in judgement; this white-haired stranger was not on his list. The second potential target was located when she laughed rather loudly, the soldier's gaze shifting towards her and locking on the mysterious mermaid swimming in the ocean; his hallucinations adding additions such as a small group of fish being in her company.
[break][break]
After a few moments, the golem's green eyes returned to Matt, a wolfish touching his lips as he waited for a command or permission to proceed as anybody would expect the ruthless soldier to accomplish. Murder was his favoured sport, but Wren would respect the repairman's decision. At the mention of party, Wren cocked his head to the side. Were these people invited to spend time with his precious Matt? The golem's eyes glanced around while he tightly clung to his Matt, the beach shifting in his eyes alone as schizophrenia altered the situation. The beach became a quiet place, the distance suddenly lit by lights as his ears were filled with "noise" of a party over yonder; a mere fabrication from his mentally ill mind.
[break][break]
"Party? Matt, did you get kicked out?" Wren asked, glaring as a pout touched his lips before a malicious grin graced his expression. "I could go crash it."
[break][break]
A torrent of wild giggling escaping the golem's lips as he snuggled the blue-haired man more. If his repairman requested him to shoot up a party which kicked him out, the psychopath would gleefully accomplish the objective. Nobody should callously remove Matt from those enjoyable situations, even if he did the most heinous actions.

this would of been nice, had the weather been a bit warmer. he was always busy with this that or the other. he really hadn't taken time to just sit and relax. though currently he wasn't all that relaxed. this was starting to get awkward every second. he didn't mind the two being affectionate. he just felt out of place.
it wasn't like he was going to join her in the water. he'd more than likely freeze his fingers off. despite enjoying the time at the beach, he really couldn't say he spent too much time here. he would have to make sure he visited the beach more often. it wasn't like it was too far away from him.
tobi brought himself back to the current situation. the girl was still enjoying herself in the cold water and those two seemed to be enjoying their company very much. tobi wasn't sure why he had stopped by. it was not in his element to randomly start conversations with people on the beach. though at least he was trying to be sociable. he still needed to go find a decent present. he slowly stood up and started dusting the sand off himself. now would be the best time to return to his main objective.
Matthew was too focused on Wren's arms wrapped around him to pay much attention to Coco or Tobias. He couldn't help but smirk slightly when Wren started snuggling him, finding his giggling adorable. Shortly after a party was mentioned he felt Wren clinging to him tightly, making him feel quite pleased. He found himself zoning slightly to Wren's company until he heard Wren ask if he got kicked out. Before he got a chance to answer, Wren's pout had changed into a grin as he suggested crashing it. He knew very darn well, crashing meant the deaths of everybody there, not that he cared but the fact he hadn't been kicked from a party, meant he lacked motive to say such things. "As much as I'd love for you to crash a party, I didn't attend one."
He snuggled back, noticing Tobias had stood up from the ground to wipe the sand off of his clothes. He couldn't blame him, he wasn't exactly in the safest spot after all, in fact he was far from it. "I'll be sure to tell you if I ever get kicked from a party, however." He answered, chuckling at the idea of Wren slaughtering them all. Ohhhh if only he knew that he was doing this action for his lovely husband, but Wren couldn't be allowed to know that he was his real creator, no. It would cause risk in possibly remembering and he didn't want his beloved in pain ever again. "Leaving so soon?" He called out to Tobias, only curious.
