Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Phoenix had taken a contract for a kill, the money was good but he did it because he enjoyed the kill. He wore a cloak and used a hex so that he would appear as another person, the last thing he wanted was to run the risk of people knowing him when he was so popular as a magician. His target had been a young adult, not likely older than eighteen. The boy was meant to take over a company but his client wanted him gone so that nobody would stand in her way in taking over the company herself. He had studied the boy for a few weeks to get feel for his schedule, very rarely needing more since the job was easier to complete when he didn't wait around trying to plan out his kill. Though the young adult did spend time at his company, he had moments when he would head to the park before going home.
So it would be during one of those visits to the park that Phoenix had planned on killing the boy. When the boy had left work and had headed towards the park, Phoenix had followed after him. Since it was after 2;00AM in the morning, there weren't very many people outside, likely because they feared Terrors would get them easier. He came up from behind the young boy and had attacked him, once he believed his victim was dead he prepared to leave.
what was she still doing out here? she had gone out drinking with a friend. well she ended up leaving danika by herself. it didn't bother her, after all her friend had been out here looking to hook up with a guy. danika finished her drink before leaving. she had to admit though when her friend set her mind to it she could accomplish anything.
she was glad dance club was close enough to her apartment. it was literally within walking distance. sure it wasn't the best to be walking this late at night home, by herself, but she could handle herself. she wasn't out of her senses and if she needed to she could teleport to safety.
she continued walking. if she was correct there was a short cut through the park. she was unaware there was someone else out here."this is the last time i stay out this late."she mutters to herself as she ends up tripping over something."stupid crack in the sidewalk."she said as she looked around for the cause of the accident.
only when she looked back did she see something that made her blood drain from her face. the scream that escaped her mouth didn't sound like it was her own. she was shaky and tried to take deep breaths. she needed to snap out of this. she was just glad she had not tripped over the body. this park of the park had a couple of broken lampposts. she hadn't seen it. she crawled away from the body and tried to calm herself down.
standing up and finally moving towards it to see if they were breathing. with a shaky voice."s-sir...hello...are you okay?"the last question came out in a whisper. maybe the guy wasn't dead. maybe he was just passed out. he wasn't lying in a pool of blood. if he was bleeding it would be hard to tell. they wore dark clothing."can you hear me?"she tried once more.
The scream had caused Phoenix to stop in his moment to look behind himself to look in the direction that noise had come from. Oh come on....... who the heck comes out to the park this late at night? He sighed, debating on going over there with his cloak on or taking it off so that he would look fourteen. He decided to keep his cloak on, because the last thing he needed was for her to possibly start questioning why a fourteen year old would be out this late, he needed to keep his cover safe and if he could help it, he didn't want to cause injury on her too.
As he got closer he could hear her trying to talk to the guy on the ground. He shook his head slightly as he neared them, debating on killing the guy in front of her but changed his mind. "Are you seriously asking him that question?" He asked, making himself known. The cloak and the broken lamp posts made it easy for him to hide, the only thing this woman would notice is that he is male. "Why are you here? Don't you know it is dangerous to be out here this late at night?" The question wasn't out of concern, it had come out as more of a threat.
how did her night end up like this? That's what she gets for leaving the stupid party early. Okay so it was past midnight but the place didn't close till two in the morning. She shook the guy for a few seconds. She checked for a pulse. She almost screamed once more. When she heard the person speak. She turned away from the body and spoke."well it doesn't hurt to check if he's alive."she said with a frown. She stood up and dusted herself off. It wasn't that she didn't have experience with death. She just wasnt expecting to find a dead body out here. She wasn't sure why but the person didn't seem to mind. Or maybe they were used to dealing with dead bodies."I was going home...why are you out here?"she asked as she pulled out her phone."we need to call the police."she told them as she dialed.
Phoenix rolled his eyes, glad that the broken lamp post existed so that he had an easier time hiding if this woman had become a threat. He shrugged his shoulders, choosing to stay silent instead of commenting back to her. If she wanted to check the body, that would be her problem. When she had stood up, he watched her closely, still debating on what he would do with her, it wasn't like she knew it had been him that had murdered this guy on the ground, so maybe it wasn't too late to walk away. Besides if she were to figure it out, he was still in his cloak. "I'm going home." He answered, making it sound as if that had been his goal the whole time, when in reality, his job was done so there wasn't a point in staying out here. The woman had pulled out her phone and he sighed, taking another step back from her. "I don't want to be involved." Having decided to let her live, he turned his back to her with the intention to leave. This is such a bother, why did she have to come out here? Ugh.
she had turned her back on him for a second. just to make the phone call. when she turned around she noticed he had been walking away."hey, wait! don't leave me here."why she had decided to put so much trust in him she didn't know. maybe it was because she didn't want to be left alone with a dead body. she walked towards him as she continued her phone call. she gave them directions to the place and explained she had stumbled upon the body.
she didn't want to wait here alone. she sighed and hung up after she was finished."fine, i won't involve you. just so you know i told the dispatcher it was just me here."she told him with a frown."what are you afraid of the cops or something? its obvious the dead body didn't freak you out."she said with a huff. so it had startled her, it wasn't ever day you tripped over a dead body on your way home.
Phoenix had heard her following behind him and he sighed. The last thing he needed was for her to ask him random questions about his kill. "Why not? Your interested in helping that dead man out, you can't help him if you are following me." He didn't want her figuring out he was the one that had killed him. He was still in his cloak, if she were to put two and two together, it would be easy to figure out he was the cause behind the man's death. The lady had still been on the phone, he knew if she figured out his secret he would have to kill her too, it would be such a pain though. "I don't know why you bothered, it isn't like they can help him anyway...." He refused to look behind himself, finding his cloak much more comfortable since he failed to wear a hex prior.
"I'm not afraid of the cops, it is just a waste of my time to involve myself in such a thing." That wasn't to say he wasn't a fan of them though, of course he didn't want to get caught by the likes of them. "No, but there are plenty of people out there that aren't freaked out by a dead body." He kept walking, trying to figure out if there would be an easier way to ditch her or not. "Shouldn't you head back, I'm sure they have more questions for you." He answered, trying to encourage her to stop following him. I don't think you figured out I'm the one who killed him but just in case you have, I don't want you figuring out it was me.
she frowned at his words."just because he's dead doesn't mean we should just leave him there. what if it was you? you don't want your body just lying around. it's not like im gonna take it home. the police or the paramedics will have to dispose of the body. can't have anyone tripping over it again. now can we?"she phrased it like a question, but she wasn't looking for an answer. she guessed he wouldn't care.
"you just don't want me to follow you."she told him bluntly. of course he wouldn't want her following him. after all how many times had he mentioned he didn't want to be involved."why? it's not like you're in a rush to hurry home."she tld him with a sigh. after all he was out here at that time of night. she laughed. it was a bit out of place, but she did it anyways."why its not like he's gonna go anywhere."she felt bad afterwards, but it was the truth. the only thing she could do was waste time till the police and whoever else came along showed up.
"really? like who?"she continued to follow him. not caring that they were getting further away from the body."don't worry. i'll be back as soon as i hear the sirens."she told him."so what wer..."she stopped in the middle of her sentence when she heard footsteps and the snappping of a twig."...what was that?"
Phoenix remained quiet instead of answering her question, though it was true he wouldn't want to be left there he wasn't about to feel bad for killing his target. "And why not?" He asked, figuring if he tried confusing the hell out of her, that she might stop following him around. "Maybe they'll scream just like you, it might even be amusing to see." Of course he wouldn't stick around to find out if that would happen or not, he just didn't want her thinking he was just some kid that didn't understand the sorrows of somebody being dead. He wanted her to understand that he flat out didn't care. "Well jeez, now it seems like you finally understand my feelings on the subject." It wasn't personal, but the last thing he needed was for some girl to find out he was the one that had killed that guy. The purpose of his job was to kill and be unnoticed. Oh why did he have to turn back around and run into her? It was just bad luck he supposed. "None of your business." He answered, thought it seemed like she was on to him, figuring out that he wasn't on his way home.
Should I be concerned? No. She hadn't yet pointed out that she figured out he had been the one to kill the guy, why should I give her any hints on the subject. He rolled his eyes when she made the comment about the dead body not going anywhere. "Because I thought you cared to stay behind and watch over him." He answered sarcastically, mostly to try and push her away from desiring to follow him further. "TRS members, or AP members, take your pick." He answered, not bothering to look behind to see if she was still following him or not. "At this rate you won't hear the sirens.... are you really willing to take that chance?" He asked, figuring his best chance of ditching her would be trying to scare her. Phoenix had heard the footsteps, trying to ignore her. The step of the twig proved they weren't alone and that person was closer to them than he would have liked. "Shush." He told her, just as somebody came out from behind her to try and slash at him. "I know what you did." The woman yelled, frustrated that Phoenix had side stepped out of the way for her to miss him.
Nothing more than assumptions... He thought to himself, rolling his eyes he created fire and threw it towards the lady that had attacked him. The lady advanced towards him again, trying to slash at him, he caught the knife, turning it the opposite direction before stabbing the lady with it. He turned to look towards the woman. "You have two choices, either you let her die and follow me, or you watch me leave and help her." He let go of the knife, turning on his heels he fled from the scene, counting on the woman not following after him.
she simply frowned at his words. it was apparent she couldn't reason with him. she understood not everyone was going to go out of their way to help a stranger, let a lone a dead one. after all he had told her he didn't want to be involved. she wondered if he had stumbled upon the dead guy before her and had been walking away. anyone could make the assumption that they were the culprits. she wasn't afraid to be questioned by the police. she had no ties to the man.
she only found him. they continued walking, well the guy continued walking and dani continued following him."wait what? what does trs or the ap have to do with this?"she was a bit confused. did she miss something."i am trs..."she told him quietly.
before he even had a chance to explain, well if he was going to explain. she heard someone aproaching. though she was not the target. she was shoved out of the way by the woman before she went straight for the guy she had been following. she stood there a bit stunned unsure of what to do. by the way things were going it seemed like he was doing fine on his own.
he had told her walking this far she wouldn't be able to hear the sirens. at that moment a bomb could of gone off and she wouldn't of noticed. she was transfixed by the fight. her mind was forming questions. who, what, why and now? after a few minutes more the fighting had come to an end. the woman groaned as he shoved the knife into her body.
his invitation had been so tempting. she had taken a few steps towards him."im sorry,.."she said as she stopped herself from going any further. she watched him leave before turning back to the woman who had attacked him.
would they ever cross paths again? she smiled softly. the sound of sirens could be heard. maybe they hadn't walked that far after all.
