Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Stepping into the Lorsette General Hospital for the first time wasn't all that intimidating for Alfonse, finding that a lot of hospitals looked the same and Lorsette's wasn't much different than the others. Although, uniquely, this would be his first time being taught in a hospital setting such as this. The idea had brought some curiosity and interest to him, finding new hopes that he could learn new healing techniques.
His grandmother acted with haste in finding him new private teachers for him to continue training his Angel-based abilities, having sought out a Doctor to help him continue into more so advanced healing techniques among other magic. The man's name was Zachary Everett and Alfonse had yet to personally speak with him. This would be their first official meeting, of which he'd been invited to visit him in the private headquarters of the office where he worked.
Alfonse's grandmother had met him before, however... and his mother seemed convinced that he would be a teacher he would feel comfortable around. His nerves were mild since he'd been alone with private teachers of a variety of disciplines and background since the early years of his youth... he wished he could feel as composed regarding the beginning of his first day of school next week.
For now, he tried not to think about it and focus on the present, which currently meant he was moments away from finding Dr. Zachary Everett's office door. He used the elevator to go up a couple floors, following the directions he was provided with. The floor he reached was quiet with a receptionist desk and nurses passing on by. His hand kept a fastened hold on the strap of his book bag slung over his shoulder as he went up to the receptionist desk with patience, waiting for the woman to complete whatever paperwork she was currently pre-occupied with.
She didn't keep him waiting for long, however, and looked at him with an inquiring smile. "Hello, young man," She greeted and Alfonse returned a gentle smile her way. "Hello. Is Dr. Everett's office on this floor?" He went on to ask, wanting to make sure he'd understand the proper location of their class. "Yes, he's currently in his office. It's a few doors down the left," She answered and Alfonse took a step away from the desk with a smile remaining as he thanked her, "Thank you,"
Turning, he ventured away from the desk and went where he was instructed. Some doorways were open, others were closed... and the one he reached that had the name "Dr. Zachary Everett" on the plaque happened to be one of the closed ones, likely to provide the man with privacy. A soft breath arose in his chest, belated anxiousness managing to ignite to a milder extent as Alfonse was faced with first impressions. He hoped he hadn't been too early... furthermore, he hoped he could be a decent student to the man that was just on the other side.
He'd dressed properly and tidily for the occasion, although the breeze outside swept the wisps of his hair out of place. Raising a hand, he gave a quiet knock on the door to first let his new teacher know he was here and to ensure it was a good time for him to walk in.

Zachary had to be at work early this morning, after making sure that Alice had transportation to school he had left for work. He wore a white dress shirt with black slacks, having left his suit coat in his locker, replacing it with a long white coat that held his name tag so that his patients would be able to see his name when he went into the rooms to check on them. He had finished his rounds and had excused himself back into his office to take a little break, knowing he would be having a student to teach. It wasn't everyday that you met up with other Angels asking you to teach their grandson how to get better control over his. He had a coffee cup on his desk to help him stay awake from the long hours at work, sorting through peoples on his desk as he looked through files.
Patients would have to be released at sometime, but not until he made sure they were healthy, else he would insist they stay longer so that he could help them. He stood from his desk with a pile of files in his hand, having lost track of the time when the door had been knocked on. Zachary made his way across the room to answer the door, surprised to see a boy standing outside his door. "Can I help you?" He asked, then remembered that this might be the student that he'd be teaching today. No harm in asking. He thought to himself, choosing to not correct himself. If this was his student, he would return the files later and focus on him right now. Zachary hadn't spend much time thinking about what he would teach his student when he'd meet him, he figured he would first test him on what he could do and then decide on which would be best to work on first.
Though since they were in the hospital he was feeling a bit bias on wanting to see him use his healing ability first, since they were in a hospital. Unless his student wouldn't be okay with doing so, but that would be asked in just a moment. Zachary had moved back towards his desk before setting the files on top of it.
Another steadying, nervous breath left Alfonse after he'd knocked on the door... and as though the man had already been up and standing, he was met with an almost immediate response as the doorway was opened with a tall, dark-haired fellow not appearing to be much older than the teen being revealed. He hadn't visualized what the doctor would look like when seeing him, but.... he was still astonished to see the youth of the man standing before him, as though he hadn't aged a day past eighteen... a-and well, Alfonse was seventeen and a half....
Did that mean this guy was ahead of his years, or... had his aging been ceased? W-wasn't that something Angels had the ability of doing...?
Belatedly, the man's voice reached Alfonse's awareness. His youthful eyes widened from his momentary astonishment, sheepishly smiling in embarrassment for having stood so quietly when... h-he was here for a specific purpose. "Y-yes! Um, I'm... here for a private lesson," He shyly answered, his voice unfortunately getting caught in a slight stammer that added on to his embarrassment. Come on, Alfonse... don't mess up this meeting before it even truly began! This guy was taking time out of his day for him, and he couldn't be rude around him...
Thus, he remembered his manners and tried to formally introduce himself with the intentions of being polite, and also allowing the professional standing before him a moment to know who he was. "I-I'm Alfonse Sinclair," He proceeded to say and then realized his grandparents were Roseviers.... not Sinclairs, "E-Eleanor and Perseus's grandson," He elaborated, his face warming with a hint of red in his cheeks.
Zachary found himself staring at the boy in front of him. Did I startle him when I opened the door? He thought to keep that thought to himself, figuring the boy would tell him if he had. The boy had answered him, the way he answered had confirmed that he had likely startled him when he had opened the door, or at least Zachary had assumed so. He nodded his head in understanding, It is a good thing too, else I wouldn't know why he was here. He was grateful that the boy had answered him, else he would have been too busy to help him because he had a student that was supposed to practice with him. Zachary smiled as he watched the boy closely. This will be an interesting first meet, indeed. He couldn't help but wonder how this practice will go, seeing as Alfonse is his first student.
Alfonse gave his name and later added on the fact he is the grandson of Eleanor and Perseus. "It's a pleasure to meet you Alfonse." He answered, waving his hand for Alfonse to come in. "I'm sure your grandparents told you I'm Dr. Zachary Everett, your welcome to call me Doc." It would be weird to be called Zac before finding out how this practice would go along. "I'll have to apologize, I've never helped another person with their powers before." He was after all a Doctor, though Alice had powers, she was only half Angel so, there were powers he wasn't completely familiar with. "So I was hoping to get a feel for seeing your powers in action, especially with healing."
Mature eyes watched as Alfonse sheepishly attempted to articulate his introduction... such maturity that defeated the youthful appearance of the doctor. A smile soon reached the man's face, Alfonse's own remaining warm as he silently scolded himself for being... s-so.... embarrassing just now. It always felt like once he stumbled over one word, he clumsily fell all over the rest. If his grandmother were standing here with them, he could visualize her side-eyeing him with a chilling look of disapproval that he was beginning to recognize after living with her for the past handful of days...
I-it made him.... glad to be here alone.... but it also meant he needed to continue to try being on his best efforts in case Doctor Everett reported back to his grandparents on his performances, which he very likely would.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Alfonse." He told him with a guiding wave of his hand, indicating the boy was welcomed to enter the privacy of the other. Alfonse responded to him with a polite, albeit bashful smile as he quietly stepped inside. Just as one would imagine a doctor's office to be, it was organized and pristine in cleanliness. Sitting atop the man's desk was a warm cup of coffee and files of paperwork stacked together.
As Alfonse stepped further towards the center of the office, Doctor Everett proceeded with an apologetically spoke, "I'll have to apologize, I've never helped another person with their powers before." Alfonse's eyes softened in curiosity, both from learning of how he was the man's first student and also from taking in his new surroundings. The life of someone in the medical profession was for none faint of heart, and having an individual like this man take him in under his wing as a student was a huge privilege that Alfonse appreciated. Time was valuable, as was experience.
Facing him as he once more spoke, Alfonse was told of his new teacher's interest in seeing his powers in action. Obligingly, the boy nodded with a lightening smile. "Thank you, Mr. Everett, for taking me in. It's an honor to be taught by you," He rose a hand, brushing the locks that'd been wind-swept by his cheeks, and sheepishly smiled at him, "I-I'll try my best with any task you entrust me with," Removing, carefully, the strap of his bookbag from his shoulder he took it between both his palms and somewhat glanced off to the side as he tried to prepare himself the best he could for what the other male had in mind. "May I set this aside?" He asked quietly, not wanting to discard it somewhere randomly. This wasn't his office and he was going to respect this man's domain.
Zachary had waved Alfonse in, offering him to take a seat once the door had been closed. I should have cleared these files from my office long before he showed up, but I can always move them aside if needs be. He thought to himself as he looked towards Alfonse. He couldn't help but feel slightly surprised when Alfonse made his comment, thanking him and saying how it was a honor to be taught by him. He continued smiling at Alfonse, hoping in the back of his mind that he wouldn't fail in helping him progress with his abilities. Alfonse had taken his bookbag off his shoulder and asked him if he could set it aside. Zachary had come prepared, normally his desk had more documents on it but it had fewer for the sole purpose of being able to move the ones on the right side of his desk to the left without it becoming messy. The only flaw was that he still had his coffee cup on the desk, with any luck he didn't have it spill on his clothing, else that would suck.
He set his hand on the corner of his desk, "You can set it right here." He answered, deciding in the back of his mind that they would be leaving the office for some of this practice session. "If it is okay with you, I'd love to head out of the room when you practice your healing power." Zachary started, seeing as they were in a hospital, of course he wouldn't ask Alfonse for much but it would benefit both Alfonse and another if he had a patient to possibly practice with. Or at least that was what was going on in Zachary's mind, of course Alfonse had the free will to say no if he didn't feel comfortable with such a thing.
Placing his hand on the corner of his desk, Doctor Everett told him he was allowed to discard his bag over in that direction. Alfonse was prompt in doing as he was instructed, tidily setting the bag down where he'd been instructed to cast it aside, and kept it sitting upwards and out of the way in case of either of them needing to maneuver around the office. One of the last things he wanted to have happen was himself tripping over it, or being in the way of his teacher... he seemed to have a terrible, unfortunate quirk of clumsily tripping at the worst of times.
H-he needed... to be more careful.... that's what his mother always said, and yet by him being cautious it caused him to over-think and cause those very mistakes.
"If it is okay with you, I'd love to head out of the room when you practice your healing power." The darker haired male went on to tell Alfonse, who arose his curious beige eyes to both listen and watch him attentively. Hearing that he wanted to see Alfonse practice his power outside of the room made him wonder if he might be practicing on a real patient... since they were at a hospital. M-maybe he was being overly-ambitious thinking of that possibility, though... he didn't want to get ahead of himself or impose on the man. Though the idea ignited interest that swam within the pools of his eyes as he offered, once more, a gentle smile. "Yes, I wouldn't mind that at all!" He agreed with a nearly boyish eagerness, but he quickly composed his calmness as he clasped his hands in front of him and asked more so quietly, "W-will we be practicing with a real patient of yours...?""
He tried to remain as reserved and mild as possible, but Alfonse wasn't the best at hiding his emotions... and he was visibly very curious and hopeful that he would be getting some kind of hands-on experience. He'd been placed in advanced situations regarding light manipulation, but healing a patient at an actual medical facility.... was a step that made him anxious, but in a way that uplifted his spirits and motivation. S-so long as it wasn't anything too dire, but Alfonse doubted Doctor Everett would do that. He was appreciative for any advice and experience this man would provide him.
Zachary couldn't help but smile happily when Alfonse didn't seem to mind. It meant he would get an idea of Alfonse's power and if possible help a patient at the same time. I have just the patient too. He thought to himself, pulled from his thoughts when Alfonse had asked him his question. He nodded his head slowly, "Yes." He paused, "If that is still okay with you." This would be Alfonse's chance to change his mind if he wasn't okay with practicing on a real patient. Since he hadn't taught another person on how to use their powers before, it seemed like the best way to find out how far he had become with that skill. "I have a patient that came in earlier today with a broken arm, I told them that they wouldn't be allowed to use it until it fully healed. They told me that if it were at all possible they would like it to heal so much sooner, of course I wasn't able to refuse them." He admitted, not having the heart to say no, even though it took energy from him.
"I mentioned that it was highly possible that it could happen today, but only if they were okay with somebody other than me doing it. This patient has agreed." Of course with Zachary hadn't told the patient and wouldn't tell Alfonse is that if the healing process doesn't go well, he would step in and correct it himself. There wasn't any reason at all for him to risk Alfonse or the patient over a simple practice of powers. "I wouldn't worry about it though, you'll do fine." He reassured Alfonse, hoping that his words would ease the pressure off. I have your back. He thought to himself as he slowly stood up from the desk.
Doctor Everett shown an optimistic smile once receiving Alfonse's spirited response to the possibility of practicing his healing abilities in a hands-on scenario. As he affirmed the boy's questioning on if such a scenario would include interacting with one of his patients, seeing that the other young man had kept himself in a mellow yet jovial mannerisms helped Alfonse feel more so at ease around him... his calmness subtly reminded him of his own father.
It didn't resonate deeply within him but subconsciously Alfonse found himself a little more comfortable as a result of the mild resemblance. Even, possibly, he felt safer around him because of the man's outwardly exhibited patience and maturity within their current setting. The boy kept silent and listened well to him as he shared with him information concerning a patient who'd entered his care earlier in the day, whose primary injury was a broken arm. Doctor Everett explained to him how the patient had wished for their injury to be healed sooner than the normal time frame if no abilities were used, and how they also agreed to someone else being one to perform the magic task.
This was a great responsibility to have someone else's well-being in his hands, and the boy was aware of the importance behind what he would be performing. No injury was too little to not take it with a mindful heart and careful hands. Alfonse was very honored by having this opportunity presented to him... he was only a student, yet this man wanted to entrust him with the chance of expressing his own abilities under his supervision. While his spirits were uplifted by having a knowledgeable individual such as Zachary Everett wish to guide him through a real-world situation that required actively healing a patient, he was also very cautious as to not accidentally worsen any of their symptoms...
It may have not been completely likely, and Alfonse had other experiences in the past with utilizing his healing... but never in a setting such as this. He didn't want to mess up by accidentally hurting Doctor Everett's patient... and he didn't have complete confidence in himself to dismiss such worries. A-anything could happen at any moment, and he cared enough about training... about this man's beliefs in him as a student, and about the person who trusted him in assisting, that it kept Alfonse grounded from getting ahead of himself with excitement over this chance.
"I wouldn't worry about it though, you'll do fine." The dark haired young man comforted him, as though he could sense Alfonse's budding self-doubt. His gaze softened up at him, appreciating how kind Zachary was being towards him. "Thank you, Mr. Everett. I'm more than willing to assist your patient," He replied with sincere acceptance of the task and his smile gently grew as he gave him a grateful bow of his head, "I-I'm very thankful for this opportunity! Its my first time training in a hospital setting-- b-but I will help all I can!" When uplifting his head, the other man had risen from his seat and Alfonse readily stepped to the side to allow him further room to walk ahead and lead him. While a little nervous with the responsibility, he was full of hope and eagerness... it really uplifted his spirits being able to positively contribute to someone's well-being, and the gleam in his eyes were like a window into that very enveloping feeling.
Zachary couldn't help but observe Alfonse, he wanted to make sure that he was prepared for this but at the same time he wanted him to remain calm. The key to healing was focusing your energy, if you weren't focused it could run the risk of further injury to the patient or possible injury to oneself. It also took up so much energy that it was only worth it if the healing process was completed correctly the first time. He hoped his words had given Alfonse comfort, the last thing he wanted was for Alfonse to be stressed and go through with healing his patient anyway. He slowly nodded his head in understanding, he believed Alfonse would be just fine. Perhaps another time they could practice with a little more stress just because that was the best way for him to get a grip of his power.
He had stood up from the desk and Alfonse had stepped to the side to make room for him. Zachary had reached out to open the door, "Just let me know if you need anything." He added before pulling the door open to allow Alfonse to exit first before closing the door behind them. He would then walk down the hall to the elevator, his patient was on another floor. What do I say? Should I ask him about his other powers or wait until after I see his healing power? He thought to himself as he tried planning ahead for the first minutes that they had together. I can always figure it out later.... He brushed the thought away, reaching out to push the button to summon the elevator.
It was easy for him to be silent, one would think he might have a lot on his mind, they wouldn't be wrong but right now he just wasn't sure what to say. The elevator opened and he stepped inside, holding the door for Alfonse before pushing the button for the third floor.
