Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.

he yawned as he made his way through the mall. he was glad it wasn't too far from school. he had taken the bus and actually managed to find an empty seat. maybe it was because of the the time. it was almost two in the afternoon.
he had finished a book for one of his classes and was going to sell it to buy another book. he just hoped they didn't need it anymore. he had double checked the syllabus and the professor said it was fine. honestly he wasn't going to hold on to books that he didn't need.
he looked around the for a clerk. eventually finding one and selling his book. of course he didn't get what he paid for, but that was alright. he stuck the money in his back pocket and started walking around. he couldn't remember the last non-school related book he read. he rounded a corner and walked right into someone that had been carrying one too many books."ah, sorry...didn't see you there."he said as he quickly started helping them pick up the books.
It didn't matter that Tristan no longer attended school, he was still a nerd, a nerd who loved reading novels. Tristan wasn't one for buying books because he wasn't really living in a place to store them but he was all for looking them over so that he could decide if they were worth buying or not. Of course before deciding he would want to read some of the pages per book to decide on if it was a book he'd be interested in reading or not. He hadn't been paying attention to notice the guy around the corner, nor could he see him with all the books stacked in his hands. They had bumped and Tristan had tried keeping the books steady but as soon as the first three had started to fall he had reached out to try and grab them, which made him lose grip of the rest of the pile.
The books fell to his feet, he had the three in his arm until he had dropped the pile of books by mistake. So much for trying to make a catch.... He thought to himself somewhat annoyed as he pushed his glasses to the brim of his nose. He bent over and started picking up his books, hearing the stranger's voice he looked over at him and gave a friendly smile. "Oh no, I'm sorry, I should have been much more careful when carrying so many books." He was surprised when the guy had started helping him pick up his books, he placed them in a pile so that they would be easier to carry.
usually he was more attentive. he could of moved out of the way in time, but that didn't happen. he was to distracted by the chance of purchasing a book he wanted. he stood there as the book tumbled to the floor. after the initial shock harv had apologized and started to collect books.
he chuckled at the guy's words."is there a sale going on or something? or you really must love to read."he said as he debated handing back the books or helping him carry them. the last thing he wanted was for this to happen again."here i'll help you with these. i swear they need to have carts in here or a big basket."he said with another chuckle."so what are you reading?"he asked as he looked over the book he had been carrying.
Tristan shrugged his shoulders, "I honestly don't know, I was just wanting to take a look at all of the different books in this pile. If I find some I like then sure I'd buy them..." Not that he had a place to store them but he'd figure that one out later. "Though I won't lie. I really love to read." That one would be a given, though he wouldn't tell anybody that if they were only searching for his help on their homework. "I just grabbed a bunch of random books with similar themes to them...." He answered as he lifted a book up from the pile. "This one is talking about a witch hunter, though it sounded like near the back of the book she was in trial for being one herself, so I was going to read a few pages and decide if I wanted to give it a chance or not. And this one..." He lifts up another book from the pile.
"It is about a woman about to be married and she supposedly has abilities. Then of course it mentions on the back that she has two men to choose from so I don't know what that is all about..." Is still somewhat interested in reading more to find out. "What about you, what book do you have there?" He asked after noticing that the guy across from him seemed to have one in his hand. "Yeah a cart or basket would be helpful.... I can only do so much when I have it stacked like this...."
harvey found it highly amusing. you think he'd be prepared. then again harvey was the type to come in for a single item and leave. it was a miracle he was still in the shop."really, i couldn't tell."he said jokingly. he nodded at the boy's explanation. hey it was bound to happen if you saw titles that jumped out at you. they always said never judge a book by it's cover, but it was the cover that attracted you in the first place.
of course that wasn't to say a plain cover wouldn't be as good as a fancy cover. it was really what the content was about than the packaging. the blonde haired boy continued speaking. talking about each book that he had managed to get the synopsis of. harvey simply nodded."right, i'll get you that cart now."he said as if he was employed there. it seemed like the boy could recommend a good book or two.
harvey came back with the cart. the books that he had picked up were placed in the red cart. he had completely forgotten about the book he was getting, had? maybe it got mixed up with the pile. then he remembered he had been searching for a book."oh i think this is one of yours. i was in search for a new book to read. it feels like all i read are textbooks."he said with a chuckle.
Tristan just smirked at Harvey, finding his joke funny. When he mentioned the cart or basket, he hadn't expected Harvey to be helpful and grab one for him. He set the books in the cart that Harvey had brought back with him. "Thanks." He couldn't help but wonder what book Harvey had planned on reading or at least he could have sworn that Harvey had a book in his hand before they bumped into each other. He laughed at Harvey's comment. "I'm sure that isn't true.... though I suppose it depends on if you like fiction or non fiction...." He joked back, though he didn't know Harvey very well he seemed like the type of guy that might like any one of the books he had put in his basket.
"I'm Tristan." He greeted before adding, "It's a pleasure to meet you." Now that he had a cart to help him move the books around much easier, all that was left to do was find a table to sit at so that he could look into these books further. "Why not come along with me? You might find one of these books enjoyable to read as well." He added, testing to see if Harvey was interested in hanging out just a little bit longer.
he chuckled softly before responding to the question. he was honestly glad he had laughed. harv wasn't the best at making jokes."i get all the non-fiction i want with my school books. so i prefer fiction. gives my brain a rest."he said with another laugh. after he had placed all the books in the cart harv stuck his hands in the pockets of his hoodie.
he kept his hands in his pocket once the introductions had started."likewise tristan. i'm harvey."he told him with a nod. the next comment came as a surprise. he wasn't sure why though."sure."he said with another chuckle."these mysteries sure do sound good. though i'm trying to stay away from long series."he told tristan randomly as they continued their search.
"it's not that i don't want to read long series, it's just currently don't have enough time. once i pick up a good book i can't put it down till im done."he said with a small smile. he hoped it didn't sound like he was rambling. harv rarely kept conversations going. after a while he ran out of things to say.
Tristan nodded his head in understanding, "I see." He answered after a few moments. He found himself smiling when Harvey had introduced himself in return, it was nice having a name with a face. Hopefully in the near future they could meet up again. He couldn't help but feel somewhat happy when Harvey agreed to come join him. It meant the conversation wasn't over yet, he chuckled when Harvey made his comment about long series. "Well that might be hard to avoid." He answered before adding, "Though I don't think these would be considered long, they normally are around three books or so." So unless three books in a series was long, than there was a chance that Harvey would enjoy the books after all. He chuckled when Harvey gave him a reason why he didn't want a long series.
"Running out of time is just as bad as cliff hangers." He answered with a smile. He knew the feeling, reading a book and not wanting to put it down. "But then again, my sleep is what normally suffers because I like reading the book anyway. So running out of time doesn't normally happen to me." He answered, wondering what Nathan would do if he found out.
he chuckled softly. it was hard yes, but surely he hadn't read all the novels yet."did i mention it's hard for me to start a series when i have tons of textbooks i have to read."he said with another laugh. honestly it was so easy for him to ignore his homework and just read. especially if the series was really good."i guess if i have to i'll read a series."he said with a shrug of his shoulders."well if they are a triology than that should be okay."
he laughed and shook his head."i sleep every chance i get."clearly he wasn't sleeping right now."nah, i like to keep my sleep schedule as normal as possible."he said with a chuckle. depending on his homework, he was usally in bed by ten. sure that made him sound like an old man, but he did have a job he had to wake up early for. he was just glad that it wasn't everyday, but three times out of the week.
Tristan couldn't help but chuckle at Harvey's confession. "I see your point there, plenty of time for the series but not enough time for the text books." He joked, trying to be funny. Harvey seemed like he considered reading a series after all and Tristan just smiled at him. "That's the spirit." He wasn't about to discourage Harvey from reading a series when homework was supposed to be more important. Listening to Harvey's confession, Tristan couldn't help but think that Harvey appeared to be his opposite, though it would do Tristan better to get his sleep he seems to stay up longer than necessary, though in his defense his father had raised him that way. "Unlike me, I stay up for long hours at a time." He was wondering to himself if he should mention the reason behind that but changed his mind at the last moment.
On the one hand, his father got credit for his bad habit but on the other hand it was fun teasing Nathan when he was up reading a book when his friend felt like he should be trying to get some shut eye. All the effort to get his friend's attention had paid off and now instead of being around his parents all the time he was around Nathan all the time instead, which was a good thing because Nathan helped calm his nerves. He was pulled from his thoughts, having been blushing slightly as he thought about Nathan. He needed to look over these books and decide on if he was going to buy any of them or not. "Is there a reason for you liking your sleeping schedule normal?" He had an idea of Harvey being a student since he mentioned text books but he wasn't completely sure about the guy's age or if he had other reasons for choosing to sleep, he was only curious on the answer.
harvey laughed."yeah, i guess i could always flip a coin to see which book i read first. though most times heads always wins and if i pick heads to read the series, i'd just feel like im cheating and then the whole purpose would.....ah...just lost my train of thought."he said as he shook his head, mainly at himself."im just complicating things now."he chuckled once more.
"i will blame you if i don't have time to do both. you started all this after all."harvey said teasingly. they continued their way looking at different books. harvey tried to resist browsing but a title would catch his eye and he would have to read the little synopsis. though for the most part he hadn't put anymore books into the cart. "that's nice, but that would drive me crazy."he chuckled."i'd be napping all the time."he exaggerated, but in reality he would need to nap.
he nodded at the question."well apart from school i have a part time job. i have to go in rather early sometimes. it depends if i work in the bakery portion or just make coffee."he explained.
Tristan joined Harvey when he laughed, "Well I could always flip a coin and if you call correctly you get to pick which book to read else you'll have to go with your second choice on the list." He suggested, figuring it would be much more fair, assuming that Harvey wanted to try it out unless he was determined to not buy any books. "I really shouldn't be buying anymore books, right now I don't have a place to really store them all." He sighed at the thought of having to find a place to store them in Nathan's room since he couldn't do it at his own home. "That is perfectly alright." He joked in return though even if Harvey had been serious he wasn't abut to let it bother him.
His father blamed him for things all the time, being blamed by Harvey wouldn't be anything compared to what his father could do if and when he got a hold of him. "Well than maybe getting books not in a series would be better after all." He joked as if he was the only one able to handle all nighters. He than asked his question and Harvey answered it. "Oh I see." Coffee sounded good right about now, though he had stayed here way too long and he hadn't even decided what books he was going to buy, assuming he planned on buying any at all. I really should wait on buying books until I talk to Nathan first.... Not that Nathan would mind, it was just the polite thing to do. "So have you decided to buy any yet? I confess, I'm still debating."
harvey chuckled softly."yeah i guess you could do that, but its alright. i'll just limit myself to two books."he said with a grin. he picked out another book from the shelf and began to flip through it. if he was going to start a series he might as well get the whole thing. of course if it was more than three book he would have to reconsider. harvey put the book back and chuckled once more."running out of space at home? you could always donate the books you didn't like? or you know not buy anymore."he laughed."of course thats a dumb idea. all readers would never stop buying books."he said with a grin.
harvey smiled."or maybe i should thank you for pushing me to read more."he said with a laugh."well see though. it all depends if i find something good. then maybe i will make an exception."
he grabbed a book from the cart."i guess i'll go with this one."he said with a smile."it not part of a series so mission accomplished."he said with a nod."maybe you should flip a coin?"he said with a grin.
Tristan chuckled to Harvey's comment before he picked out a book from the shelf to flip through the pages. He found himself zoning out until Harvey had asked his question, he shrugged his shoulders. "You could say that..." He admitted before laughing lightly, "Thing is, I don't have a lot of stuff.... so space isn't the problem. I'm just sharing a room right now, it wouldn't be fair to overwhelm the room with books when we have more important things to place in there." He wasn't interested into going into extra detail about Nathan letting him stay at his place, in his room of all places. "I know I won't." He admitted with a smile on his face. "But I can keep myself from buying, normally.... maybe..." He wasn't completely sure, it was really tempting to by the whole batch in his basket even though he knew that he didn't really have room to store it right now.
"That is so true, if I find a book I really badly like, it is game over and I buy it anyway...." He watched as Harvey grabbed a book from the cart, he nodded his head. "You'll have to tell me if it is a good read." When Harvey suggested that he should flip a coin, he laughed again. "Maybe I should consider reading my books online, at least than I won't have a bunch of books laying around..... but then it takes the fun out of reading without electronics....." The choice was just so hard....
harvey chuckled softly."ah, yeah sharing a room could be difficult especially if there's isn't a lot of space. The last thing you want to do is fill there room in books."he grinned."well just say the word and I'll drag you out of here."he said with a wink. The thought of actually doing that made him laugh. The only people he had picked up were his siblings, but it was all good and in fun.
Harvey smiled and nodded."you could you know borrow it after I'm done."he put back some of the books he had placed in the cart back in their proper place. After all today he would only be buying one. He nodded at Tristan's suggestions."well that would definitely save you a ton of space, plus you could find books cheaper. You know they have these places where you can borrow books.its really great. They are called libraries."Harvey said with a teasing smile."you might want to check that out."he said with a laugh.
