Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

He hated being by himself. It only made him think about things that were unavoidable. No matter how many things he turned on to distract himself with. He always found his thoughts wandering back to the same thought. Was the girl okay? Did she survive the ordeal? To be honest that wasn’t the only thing that was on his mind. He was still coming to terms with the fact that he wasn’t alive anymore. As if things in his life couldn’t get anymore complicated. Why not through a sudden death experience into the mix.
He needed to get over it, but that was easier said than done. He had quite a bit of time before he needed to head to work. The only thing he knew was that he couldn’t stay cooped up in his apartment any longer. Grabbing the keys to his apartment and his wallet, not that he needed the money inside. Buying food wasn’t a necessity, but it was still a habit of his to buy a treat once in a while. Even now there were a couple of items in his fridge. If people came to visit it would be rather difficult to explain the empty fridge. Though honestly it wouldn’t be difficult at all. He didn’t want to admit to himself what he was now.
A sigh escaped his lips as he took in the fresh air. Thankful he could still feel it, though the temperature didn’t bother him as much as before and he would definitely still dress the part. He had no particular destination in mind when he had left the house, but as he continued his walk he ended up in the park. It was nice this time of year and seeing the leaves slowly, but surely change color was a good distraction. besides a walk in the park wouldn't hurt. it wasn't the best place to see the trees with the different colored leaves, but it would do for now. with that thought in mind he set out towards the park.
Gabriel had worked late last night, having chosen to sleep in the falling morning as means to make up his sleep. By the time he had gotten out of bed, the house was empty, his father and brother were nowhere in sight. It was safe to assume his father likely was working as for his brother, there was a chance he was spending time with their neighbor. They are such a cute couple. He thought to himself, chuckling before heading out of the bedroom and into the bathroom to freshen up. Within a few minutes he had changed into clean clothes before making his way into the kitchen to make toast to munch on. It was lunch time, besides the fact that his sleeping schedule was so nice in sync with any of the rest, he couldn't help but feel somewhat lonely in this empty house.
The times spent with his family would be cherished forever, though he really missed having those everyday moments with his family. With a small sigh, he finished his toast before walking down the hall, deciding that he would leave the house for a bit to try and find something to do. Thankfully he didn't work today, so the rest of his time would be spent in freedom. Upon grabbing his wallet, phone, and keys, he walked out of his bedroom and down the hall before exiting the house, making sure to lock it behind himself before walking down the sidewalk with no set destination. As he walked, he noticed that the park would soon be in view, it wasn't a bad start in finding something interesting if he were to say so himself.

so his only reason for coming out was so that he wouldn’t be bored at home. he should have planned something to do. if anything, now he was bored walking around. sure he was getting some fresh air and there was a nice view of the autumn trees, but what else was he going to do? he couldn’t just aimlessly walk around. he really couldn’t just go around doing nothing. he would feel like it would be a waste of time. though now he seemed to have plenty of time to spare. habits were hard to break. he ran his fingers through his hands as he decided what to do next.
should he had back home? and do what? he continued walking forward. he really didn’t feel like going back home just yet. maybe he’d go buy a book or something. the weather was so nice, reading out here wouldn’t be a bad idea. yet that idea was soon forgotten when he came upon some swings. how long had it been since he was last on a swing? it was his favorite thing to play on when he was younger.
thankfully there were empty seats and it didn’t take him too long to take a seat. he moved his feet along the ground, pushing himself back before picking up his feet and swinging forward. it was funny how it was the little things that brought one joy.
Gabriel continued his walk, turning into the park as soon as he got there. He had decided to wander around a bit, before moving onto the next area. As he got farther into the park he had noticed something interesting, or somebody he should say. Harper was sitting on the swing. It had been years since he had last been on one and it wasn't a bad idea, so he made his way towards the swings. Once there, he took a seat next to Harper before pushing against the ground for a running start so that he could swing. "Hello." He greeted as they seem to pass each other in the air. Though it was possible Harper had no interest in talking to him, he found a great need to greet regardless. They had both come here for the same reason after all, or at least he had decided to use the swings after seeing Harper on them first. He wasn't aware that it had been a last decision for Harper as well. "It is so nice outside." He whispered, mostly to himself because he wasn't sure if Harper would care to chat with him or not. He is handsome. He thought to himself, unable to keep such thoughts off of his mind.

he wasn't expecting anyone else to join him. not that he minded, this place was for everyone. alright honestly he wasn't expecting them to strike up a conversation. well, it was more like harper wasn't the type to randomly start talking to a stranger. he found that concept rather difficult. the only time he was calm and social was when he was at work. though he figured it didn't count, considering that he knew most of his patients.
of course that didn't mean he didn't interact with new people."hello."harper responded after a few seconds. his mind already trying to think of what to talk about. maybe they wouldn't stick around too long. hopefully they were waiting for someone and then he could enjoy his swinging in peace.
he looked down as he continued to swing. keeping a slow and steady pace, he didn't want to be rude. he was a bit lost in his thoughts and didn't catch what he had said."what was that? sorry i didn't hear you."
Gabriel couldn't help but smile slightly when Harper had greeted him in return. They seemed to swing in silence, a conversation having yet to bloom between them. He had whispered his comment, mostly for himself of course when Harper had asked what he said, further apologizing because he hadn't heard him, he couldn't help but chuckle. "Don't worry about it, I just said it is so nice outside." He answered, making the effort to being louder this time so that Harper would be able to hearing him much more clearly this time. "How is your day going?" He asked, changing the subject as he swung on the swing right next to him. It feels nice being on here, sorta like I'm a kid again. God it is times like these that remind me of the meaning of life. He thought to himself, being cautious to avoid going too fast because he didn't want to risk bothering Harper.

harper simply nodded figuring it was really nothing. he smiled slightly once he heard the rest of his comment."yes, it's pretty nice out."harper agreed as he gave himself another push. though not enough that he couldn't hear him. he really hadn't been paying attention, let alone thought that the guy was going to strike up a conversation.
maybe he was just waiting for someone and was just killing time on the swings. whatever the case, harper wasn't going to be rude. he wasn't the type to strike up random conversations, so this guy taking the initiative was pretty impressive. he thought of a decent response and not just a one word answer. not that he was going to say everything that has been on his mind, that would be ridiculous.”it’s going good. just out for a walk. how about you?”why did everything he say sound awkward?
Gabriel couldn't help but smile when Harper had agreed with him about it being pretty outside. He continued to swing, careful to not push too hard against the ground because he didn't want to put too much pressure of his feet against the ground, unsure on how much exactly this swing could handle. He asked how Harper's day was going, listening when he had answered his question before returning the question right back at him. "You stole my answer." He chuckled before pausing, "Well i suppose saying I came for a swing wouldn't be a compete lie even though I saw you on it first." He couldn't help but chuckle, proving that Harper had been his reason for coming over here in the first place.

harper had given himself another push and lifted his feet up so they wouldn’t be dragging on the ground. though the push wasn’t to make him go faster, he just didn’t want to stay still. he could still hear him just fine. he chuckled softly.”well, like you said it’s a nice day. perfect walking weather.”why did he sound like such an idiot right then?
“sorry i tempted you.”hopefully it wasn't taken out of context. also that’s not what he meant right? perhaps he was just reading a little too much into the response. it was only natural for someone to come over, once someone started something. now he was just rambling to himself. this guy had only come over for the swings nothing more nothing less. why did his mind jump to any other conclusion? he laughed softly, hoping he hadn’t stayed quiet for too long.”oh, i just mean the swings are pretty fun. who wouldn’t want to come over for a bit.”
Gabriel continued swinging back and forth, it had after all been his reason for coming here, right? Though in the back of his mind he felt somewhat awkward doing such things in front of Harper. He couldn't help but chuckle when Harper proved to agree with him. "Yes.... I did say that." He answered in somewhat of a whisper as his smile stretched across his face briefly before going back to normal. He forced the swing to come to a stop when Harper started apologizing to him. "Don't be sorry, it is alright. It is nice going back to the things I used to enjoy, sometimes one need that extra encouragement, even somebody like me." He answered, pushing against the ground again to start swinging. "Yeah." He agreed, thinking to himself, Somebody who gets distracted with other things.... He continued swinging before saying, "I suppose it sometimes just gets pushed in the back of ones mind and the days continue going by..."

harper simply smiled as he continued swinging. he stared down at his feet for a few seconds, letting his feet drag across the ground after awhile. he wasn't stopping completely, just slowing down a bit more. he wasn't planning on swinging all day, but that didn't mean he couldn't stick around a little longer.
his cheeks were flushed slightly. he wasn't sure why it wasn't like he said anything wrong. well, maybe? whatever the case he continued to look at his feet."i guess that's true."he said with a small laugh. he looked up and nodded."what else have you been wanting to do? did you want to go down the slide too?"harper asked as he pointed towards the slide. it was a little silly, but he didn't mind. it wasn't like the playground was full of people at the moment.
Gabriel had started swinging again, chuckling when he heard Harper's comment. "You know... that sounds like a fun idea..." He teased before adding, "You first?" He of course was joking, well maybe, it hadn't crossed his mind to do it but at the same time, Harper seemed to bring out the child version of him and he just couldn't seem to stop himself. He proceeded to allow the swing to slow down, but just before it had come to a complete stop, he jumped off of it. When he was younger, he was always guilty of jumping off of the swing while it was moving, sometimes he was lucky and stayed balance while other times, would fall to the ground. With him no longer on the swing, it had started slowing down even more before coming to a complete stop, meanwhile he had slowly started walking towards the slide after regaining his balance to head down it just as Harper had suggested, or at least he was going to give Harper all the credit for it. "What do you think, should I be crazy or act normal?" He teased, knowing in the past he used to slide down head first on his stomach instead of placing his butt against the slide like a normal person.

[attr="class","dead"]
"really? i was joking."harper stared at him curiously. he wasn't going to do it was he? well, he couldn't simply go back on his word. after all he did start it."me first?"he repeated as he let his dragged his feet on the ground as he started to stop the already slow swaying and got off the swing. he hadn't even walked that far when he turned to see them jump off the swing.
he followed not too far behind as they neared the slide, harper stood off to the side. swings were one thing, but the slide was another. not that harper hadn't liked slides when he was younger, though he always seemed to gravitate towards the swings and the merry-go-round more."go crazy? like what sliding down head first or something?"harper said with a laugh.
he remembered kids going down the slide all sorts of ways, and even crashing into each other when they all pushed and shoved to be the first one down."you can do that if you want. i'll just go down normally."harper said as he moved towards the stairs. though if they wanted to go first harper would let them.
Gabriel chuckled when Harper had asked his question before further stating that he was joking. He watched as Harper had the swing come to a stop before standing up to walk towards the slide. He was quickly behind him, having jumped from the swing before regaining his balance to follow after him. He chuckled at Harper's question. "You know... all of the above." He teased, figuring Harper might know of some methods since they were both adults and likely around the same age or so, or at least that it what he believed. "Awww." He answered when Harper told him that he could do as he pleased but he planned on going down normally. "Not even a two person down the slide?" He joked, thinking of how stupid it was for him to suggest such a thing since he had only just met Harper. It was a fun idea though and it wasn't for the fake of him not being sure about Harper's interests, he would remain awkward about suggesting such a thing at this time. Of course he secretly hoped Harper would agree, even if it wasn't this time but another time in the near future. "Or something." He added, side glancing as his face blushed from embarrassment of the suggestion he had previously made.

harper chuckled softly before shaking his head."then maybe i'll just watch. last thing i need if for you to hurt yourself."he told him as he neared the slide."maybe i'll go down once."
it seemed like that response was not well liked. he did intend to go down the slide, after all it was harper that had suggested it. how rude would that be to make them do something he had suggested."two at a time?"harper had repeated the question aloud as he thought about it. would they even fit? how would they even go down? would they move at all?
the fact that he was even giving it a thought at all was something rather peculiar."i don't think we'd fit. i'm absolutely positive we'd both end up getting hurt."he told him with a nod.
