Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
she had figured when she had been spotted, not that she had been hiding. well, she figured her walk would be cut short. sure she wasn't allowed to keep going the way she had intended, but she was enjoying her walk nonetheless. it wasn't what she had been expecting, but that's what made it fun.
she smiled in return hoping that they did run into each other, under different circumstances of course. perhaps he wouldn't have to waste his time helping her find her way."well, if you like coffee then you're bound to bump into me at a cafe. really i don't make it a habit out of getting lost."she told him with a laugh.
"honestly i'm not that bad."she responded with a laugh as well."well that's a shame. no, honestly i would start to feel bad."she told him with a nod and she honestly would. not that she didn't appreciate his help, but she didn't want to be a burden on others. if she could she would find her own way next time. she wasn't that worried if she was planning on sticking to places she was familiar with.
Dane felt himself lucky that he had managed to maneuver the two of them safely away from the property. Partially because he would have hated to scare the woman away. Having to intimidate her in order to keep her from returning. But mostly because he didn't want to have to explain himself. It was just so much easier when people decided to listen to his warnings. Instead of ignoring him only to return. Curious like cats wandering straight into a wolfs den.
"Im usually quite busy. But I suppose a coffee might not hurt." He said with a soft nod. Sure the chances of them running into each other again was slim. Yet a part of him actually wanted to see the woman again. A few more paces down the path and a few more words exchanges between the two Dane found himself becoming more comfortable. His stress seeming to fade away with each bit of distance put between himself and his former home.
Yet from the short time together Dane could tell this woman was different. She wasn't like the usual rabble out in the woods. Wether it be teens looking for somewhere to party, campers treating the forest like it was their own, or the occasional tourist barging through. Instead she actually seemed somewhat at place out in the nature. "So.. uhm..." Dane began to speak slightly nervously. "If you don't mind me asking. Why wander out here? I mean a young woman like yourself. Wouldn't you rather be out in the city?"
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
a small yawn escaped her lips as they continued walking. It wasn’t that she was bored, quite the contrary. she was enjoying this walk, even if it hadn't gone exactly as planned. not that madelyn was the type to plan anything to the last detail. she had a place in mind she wanted to explore and that was pretty much it. she was very go with the flow type of person.
She smiled, glad he was making an effort. He didn’t outright tell her no.”good, i have to pay you back somehow and don’t worry it will just be a coffee.”she told him with a nod. She wasn’t going to take no for an answer. If it happened it happened, she wasn’t going to pressure him into it.
She looked at him as he started to ask her something. She didn’t say a word, not wanting to interrupt him.”the city is nice and all, but it's so noisy.”she told him with a nod. plus it was a nice place to leave all the things that worried her behind.”it's quiet and peaceful out here, plus i just feel more connected to nature. I guess it probably because my abilities are nature based.”she told him with a smile.
”that’s why i’m not too afraid of getting lost. I have help all around me, but you’re right I really wouldn’t have known what to do had I come across a bear.” she said with a small laugh.
Leaves crunched underfoot as the two walked down the trail. The distance between them gradually shrinking inch by inch. Though Dane couldn't explain it he found the woman slightly comforting to be around. Possibly due to her general innocence. Or perhaps even the modesty in her words as she continued in a polite way to offer him some sort of reward. Even if it was something as simple as a cup of coffee. Though he wouldn't really object to the offer he did feel it somewhat unnecessary. After all he had his own reasons for leading her back. Managing to help her out just happened to be a bonus.
Though he was curious as to why she had chosen this place of any. As it was fairly far off the beaten path. Yet the answer he got to his question caused Dane to chuckle slightly. "Is that so? Well I suppose we share something in common then." He said with a smile, turning his gaze forward once more. Yet what he wasn't expecting was for the woman to keep speaking. His eyes trained forward as he listened. Nodding quietly in agreement at her first few words. Only for Dane's brow to raise in confusion as she continued.
'Alone in the woods? Abilities?' He thought to himself, pondering for a moment as he stopped walking.
'THE SCENT!'
Almost as quickly as the thought crossed his mind Dane found himself spinning in place to face the purple haired woman. Taking a few steps almost instinctively toward her to close the distance as he seemed to be sniffing at the air, almost following something. Yet he stopped short at an almost uncomfortable distance from the woman, leaning down slightly as he continued to whiff at the air. His nose filling with what almost seemed like an entire bouquet of flowers as he got closer. "Wait a minute yo-" He began to say before suddenly realizing where he was standing. A slight red hue tinted his cheeks for a moment as he quickly backpedaled, putting a good distance between the two yet again. He turned his head away, once again coughing into his closed fist a few times. Trying his best to regain his composure after having acted on his instincts. "Sorry I- Uhmm.." He said quite embarrassed, before quickly trying to flip the conversation back in another direction. "You aren't human... Are you?"
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
It was easy to lose track of time when you didn’t have to be anywhere at a certain time. Even more so when you were together with someone. Time just seemed to fly by even if it was nothing more than a few minutes. She hoped they would see each other again, it was nice to make new friends. Especially one that liked to be surrounded by nature. The more they talked the more it seemed like they had similar interests.”really? That’s good. I don’t have that many friends that enjoy the outdoors.”she said with a laugh.
Oh madelyn was quite aware that humans were not the only creatures that roamed this earth. Though she wasn’t exactly sure how to pick who was who, she wasn’t afraid to tell people what she really was. There was no sense in hiding, not that was was trying to. She kept walking not aware that he had stopped. Though she hadn’t gotten to far when she saw him behind her. Had she said something wrong? Before she even had a chance to ask john moved closer towards her."oh, i-i..."
She had jumped slightly at the sudden movement, but she remained where she stood. She couldn’t bring herself to look him in the eyes, not when she felt her cheeks start to flush at the proximity. She tried to ask if everything was alright, but she quickly closed her mouth. Almost as quickly as he had closed the gap between them, he had moved back. She shook her head at his apology.”it’s alright. i wasn’t trying to hide it from you.”she told him after he finally asked.”no, i'm not. um, is that okay?”she asked still avoiding his gaze.
It was almost as if another portion of Dane's brain had taken over his body for a few moments. Causing him to act in an odd and slightly inappropriate manner as he invaded the woman's personal space. Even leaning over slightly to sniff her a little. An action that would seem incredibly creepy to most. Yet the intent was completely different than what one would expect from someone randomly smelling someone's hair. His eyes only filled with the glint of curiosity as he followed after some invisible trail. He didn't even seem to take notice as she flinched at his sudden presence. Like a dog pawing at a mouse he didn't even see her as a threat.
As he finally managed to distinguish the woman's scent apart from the forest his head pulled back slightly. Taking a moment to look at her face, matching the scent to a body. Yet the red hue he noticed caused the human part of his mind come rushing back. He let out a slight gasp. The fog looming over his thoughts having lifted only for him to realize what a compromising position he was in. And soon his cheeks were just as red as Madelyn's. The silver haired male quickly taking a few steps back before questioning the woman's species of all things. He wanted to punch himself for acting like a complete idiot. As he just went from acting incredibly strange to asking an even more awkward question. All in an attempt to divert from his actions. His mind racing with possible answers to the questions she likely had.
'Hey sorry I thought I saw something.. no. I just think you smell nice.. creepy. Hey sorry I'm part dog... Definitely not.'
His mind wrestled with what to say. Dane waiting with baited breath for her response. But instead of questioning him his distraction had actually worked. Madelyn actually taking little time to reply as she casually admitted to not being human. "Oh!" He said surprised. His hands raising up in front of him defensively for a moment. "Not a bad oh or anything. It's just I didn't expect... I mean it's fine." He said trying his best to explain himself. "I just haven't really met, anyone like you..."
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
It was rather surprising, perhaps because she had been caught off guard that she really didn’t have time to move back even if she wanted to. She remained where she was jumping slightly when he drew fairly close. They had just met today, but she hadn’t felt like he was any danger to her. After all he had been nothing, but helpful. Going out of his way to make sure that she found her way back. She really couldn’t say she was used to this as it really wasn’t something that happened to her daily. She couldn’t blame him for being curious. Had she been in his shoes, she probably would've approach it differently, but still be curious nonetheless. She answered his question without a second thought. She wasn’t hiding who she was, especially if she seemed different.
"oh good, i don't want to cause you anymore trouble than i've already have."She smiled softly glad that it was alright. What would she have done had it not been the case? Probably just continued on her way and not cause anymore trouble.”so you don’t normally go around sniffing people?”she asked in a teasing tone. She had to, despite the odd reaction she had to make light of things. It was fine, no harm done."sorry, i won't tease you anymore."she told him with a soft laugh."really? that makes me feel special."
Dane couldn't help but feel embarrassed by his actions. As he had never done anything so outright strange before. Yet something about the woman's scent just seemed to draw him in. As it seemed so soothing, much like the nature around the two. His hand lifted to scratch at the back of his head as Madelyn replied rather pleasantly to his lackluster apology. Giving a bit of a nervous chuckle in response. "Honestly it's no trouble. Just a bit of a surprise is all." He said with a small wave of dismissal.
He actually found the woman's honesty quite endearing. The way she was willing to share such information with a stranger. Not only that but the confidence in how she could say such a thing. A confidence that he himself never had in his race. No longer human, yet not really a Lycan either. Something that was made for someone else.
But before he could dwell too long on his depressing thoughts Madelyn spoke up again. Causing Dane to become quite flustered as she finally addressed the elephant in the room. "No I uh.." He said, feeling his mouth go dry. The flush of red slowly begining to rise in his cheeks once more. Her comments were sweet, almost too sweet for the burly wolf as he endured her teasing. Feeling like he offered her at least some sort of explanation.
"It's just you don't smell like a person." He said, quickly regretting the words as they came out. "That isn't what I mea- It's like lavender... Is that right. No... Verbena?" He said in a bit of a embarrassed ramblings. All the while still dancing around the question of why.
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
She smiled, glad that things didn’t turn extremely awkward and uncomfortable. She never given it much thought that she would give off a different scent. It wasn’t something that was on her mind. Sure were there different traits that could be picked upon, hinting that one wasn’t entirely human. Again she wasn’t one to hide, whether she should be more discreet about this information she didn’t see any harm in disclosing it. It wasn’t as if people were not aware that humans were not the only beings that roamed the earth.
She laughed softly at his reaction.”it’s fine, really no harm done. you just surprised me is all. not that i was expecting you do do that.”she wasn’t going to tease him any further, but could you blame her for being just a bit curious. Was her scent the same for everyone else? Or could people pick up something different.”those are nice scents it wouldn't be bad if i smelled like lavender or verbena."she said with a small laugh. "though if i had to pick, i’d like to smell like lilacs.”she told him with a smile.
"Roses, orchids, lilies..." Dane continued to mutter on as he tried to narrow down his choices. His hand scratching curiously at his chin. Gaze turned blankly toward the canopy of trees.p Intent on trying to identify the scent. Yet it was hard when the woman smelt like falling face first into a field. In the best possible way. He knew if he continued to guess he would get there eventually. Perhaps if he got another smell...
He shook his head slightly at the thought. Eyes turning back toward Madelyn as she spoke up. "Sorry. I just kind of noticed it. I didn't mean to startle you." He said with a gentle shrug. Hoping he could perhaps still get out of this with only seeming like a strange guy. "I'm actually kind of surprised. Has no one mentioned it to you before?" He said with a sort of chuckle. His hand raising to scratch at the back of his head. Hoping to imply that her smell was something obvious, like the vibrant hue of her hair.
He sort of posed that way for a moment. Trying to act as nonchalant as possible. Hoping she had bought his act. Her voice chiming in once more to acknowledge his comment. "Lilacs.... I like that." He said with a nod. A gentle smile crossing his lips as he stood there looking over the woman. Yet after a few moments he found himself feeling very awkward again for staring. His eyes quickly darting back toward the dirt path. "Uhm anyways.. we should probably keep moving." He said holding a hand up toward the trail. "Sorry for holding us up."
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
She shook her head slightly and smiled.”It’s alright really. Honestly i probably would of done the same thing. If something smells good, one usually can’t resist.”she ponders his next question. Honestly she wasn’t sure, on her end the people she spent the most time didn’t have such a strong scent or let alone a floral scent. Then again she was probably used to the way they smelled. Perhaps it was only others that could pick up the scent? She shook her head.”Maybe? Though I have been asked on occasion what perfume I use. It’s not really something i keep track of.”she tells him with a small laugh.
She smiled.”Perhaps next time i see you i will have some with me.”it wouldn’t be a difficult task. She always carried some sort of bag with her. For moments just like this, where she just wanted to get away from the noise of the city and unwind in nature for awhile. She nods.”Oh right. You don’t have to apologize so much. Not when you made my day so interesting.”she smiled.”really it’s alright i have nothing planned after this. Well, nothing important.”
After having made a fool of himself for the last few minutes Dane couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. Rather annoyed with himself for invading her personal space and acting like a creep none the less. The little trick the other Lycan had taught him becoming a slight problem. As he had never really sought out trying to locate scents or anything before. But sense he had started it was hard for him to quit. The animalistic blood in his veins seeming to get quite the rush out of the act. Sometimes even making him loose himself in the process.
Yet he had to count himself lucky that the woman wasn't pressuring him about it. Likely she was either being polite, or completely oblivious to how alien his actions were for the average person. And as she answered his question he began to think it was the ladder of the two. 'Perfume! Why didn't I think of that sooner..' He thought to himself, simultaneously giving himself a metaphorical boot to the rear for not having come up with such a simple answer. "Aha.. yes, that must be what it is." He said with a chuckle. Happy that a solution had presented itself. Yet the theory wasn't perfect, as it had no way of explaining how he had known she wasn't human. The only thing he could do was hope she didn't notice his mistake. "That would be nice. Perhaps then we could identify that smell.." He said with smile.
'Stop bringing up the smell you idiot!' By this point the voice in his mind had gone from a shout to a full on yell. Upset that he just kept making one mistake after the other. Social situations were difficult for the silver haired male. All he could do was just to pretend to be a normal guy. Yet his lack of people skills usually made that rather difficult. Even as Madelyn complemented him he couldn't help but find a way to make things worse. "Oh.. I'm so- I mean.." He let out a slight grumble as he realized he was doing it again. "I mean.. thank you." He said with a soft, but genuine smile.
Luckily though he still had an out. He motioned for the two to keep moving in hopes to relieve the awkwardness. Taking a few steps in hopes to get them moving one more. The trail head not being much further away, as the sounds of traffic began to rise in the distance. And as the two came to the top of a small embankment the strip of black asphalt cutting through the green could be seen in the distance. "The way back is just down there. Just try not to get lost on your way over." He said motioning toward the road. "And uhm..." He began to say, glancing away from Madelyn in the process. "If you do come back.. just watch out for bears ok." He said seemingly rescinding his threat from before.
i can't tell you how much i wish i didn't wanna stay
After their little awkward encounter it wouldn’t be too long after that they started walking once more. It had been such a harmless act, well at least to her it was. Yet, they were still on the subject. if anything the more they talked about the the more she found the whole situation rather funny. She honestly wasn’t putting too much thought into the whole situation. He was clearly embarrassed and so was she. As she had said before the action had been completely harmless. She didn’t think anything of the other questions as she had been to focused on how close he had been. Honestly she would more than likely not even remember. People were curious and she would simply leave it at that.
”well, if you’re gonna do a sniff test i’ll be ready next time.”she said jokingly with a laugh. How many times had she told him she wouldn’t tease him anymore? It was cute though, seeing his reactions. it would be interesting to know if she smelled the same to everyone. She knew she would have to smell different since she wasn’t a human. She had to assume other creatures had their own scent as well. Could they be distinguished from other beings as well?
She smiled as he was about to apologize once more. She honestly was fine with it, no harm done.”you’re welcome, it’s no problem.”it seemed like they weren’t too far off now. The road was coming into view. It seemed like her little adventure was coming to an end. She nodded at his word, letting her know that they were in fact almost there. She laughs at his next comment.”I promise I won't get lost anymore.”it was his last comment that really brought a smile to her face. She was so happy to know that she could come back and she would, it was so lovely out here.”i’ll avoid the bears and just come visit you, well if you’re around. Anyways, thank you or your help.”
