Welcome to The Duality of Man, an original animanga role-play that features numerous supernatural creatures. Unfortunately, these various species have distanced themselves because of the war that occurred thousands of years ago, plaguing some with eyes that only see their dualism. While others meddle themself with their differences, two groups fight, each attempting to eliminate the other in for their definition of worldly peace. These two groups of the Terror Response Syndicate (TRS) and the Assembly of Phantoms (AP). With individuals fighting merely over their differences, it brings uncertainty to the outcome of this war.
We happily accept all role-players as long as they obey the rules and are capable of meeting our word count of 50. This does include those who are unfamiliar with this style of role-playing. The staff of The Duality of Man are willing to happily help those who are new to the role-playing world so they feel comfortable on site. Feel free to message the staff if you need help, they can be found here or in the site Discord and will gladly answer questions alongside calm concerns. If you have any suggestions we would love to hear them; guests may use the support board as a suggestion area as well. Should you decide to join, may I say welcome to the site and we all hope you enjoy your time here.
Yours Truely,
The Staff

Oh Akira was excited. He was very excited. One of the many things he loves, second to his lovely wife of course, is animals. Horses are animals. They are very dumb, very cute animals. That's part of the reason that he kept up with horseback riding all these years, despite the fact that the need to ride horses went out of style when carriages came around, and then cars. Truely a mistake, as useful as the inventions are. He just really prefered riding horses instead of sitting in a car. His sore ass would surely complain, but nothing beats riding a horse through the woods with your stunning wife on your lap, blushing up a storm. [break][break] Actually, perhaps if there was less clothes on her, it would be better. (He would never subject his butt to such an event, but his wife would be safe in his arms so... yes... less clothes...) But that's besides the point. Valerie wasn't even present for today's escapades in the forest. They both did spend time away for each other. Today, he was sure she was sitting curled up on the couch, a blanket over her legs, and a book in her hand. The lewdness of the book was debatable, but she was most certainly spending her time alone in silence. [break][break] Oh gosh, he kept gushing about his wife didn't he. Horses. Yes. He was at a new ranch today. The messages he shared with the assistant manager, Talutah, ended up with him setting up an appointment for today, in exactly thirty minutes. Because he was supposed to arrive twenty minutes beforehand, but he wouldn't dare be late and ended up coming thirty minutes early. [break][break] Akira made his way through the area swiftly before finding his way to the nearest person, which happened to be a brunette in the office. Talutah Markey, according to the name by the door. "Excuse me? I'm Akira Himura, we talked yesterday on the phone? I assume you're Miss. Markey?"

It had already been a long day. One of the new hands had almost no experience, and she'd had to stay on his case for four hours. "Shouldn't have shown up so early if you can't actually help," she grumbled to herself. If I didn't live here, I swear to God... Now, she had to pick up her own slack — billing records had to be updated, mail needed filing, medicine had to be sorted. There was, and never would be, a dull moment at South Wind.
Tally took a second to look at her calendar. Oh, right, the Yelp person's coming in today. Akira... She alt-tabbed on her computer and searched up the name. Well shit. Head medic. I'd better make a good showing. She frowned and closed out of the search. Better not disappoint him. She pushed her chair back and ran her hands through her hair. I sure hope he's competent at a minimum and nice at best. I'd like the chance to relax for a second.
It didn't take her long to settle on Cash as the best choice for the newbie, whoever they were. He was a big, calm gelding who'd never put a foot wrong as long as she'd known him. A couple texts to his owner later, he was idly licking the bars in his stall fully tacked as she dragged a less-than-willing Cozy away from the warm sunlight to receive the same treatment. "Atta boy. This'll be an easy ride, anyway," she assured him. "So stop complaining!" He blew at her irritably. Her phone vibrated; it would be about ten minutes until Doctor Himura arrived, providing he was on time. Tally ducked back into the office and flopped down in her chair, pointing the little desk fan down her shirt for some momentary relief — and hastily set it back down on the desk as the door to the barn swung open. She quickly recognized the doctor from the picture on the hospital's website. "You must be Dr. Himura! That's me — call me that or Tally, either's fine!"Oh he is a large motherfucker isn't he. Shit. We're going to need to adjust his stirrups before anything else happens here. She stuck her hand out for a handshake. "You look good on gear, so let's just get to the paperwork, which is..." She paused to shuffle things around on the desk until she found the stapled packet with the hot pink sticky note. "Here. And you're free to use that couch and table to read it over. I'll leave you in here to check it out while I run out the stirrups on your horse today, you're... a bit longer in the legs than I expected!" she laughed, heading for the stable. Thank goodness. I hate twenty-minute helmet fitting sessions. Ugh.
Once she'd finished inspecting tack and guessing at the man's stirrup length (only a couple of holes longer than hers, she expected), she walked briskly back to the lounge, eager to hit the trails. This was one of the best parts of her job, and for once, she felt comfortable leaving the place in the hands of the other workers. It should be fun!

Mister Doctor Akira Himura was a pretty tall man. Yes. He was a demon, and demons are... well they're demons. That should be explanation enough. Although along with his large body, he also had a large heart. For his wife. And maybe other people. Maybe. That being said, Akira was also a nice guy. Sometimes. At least when it mattered. Right now it mattered- first impressions and all. [break][break] "Please, call me Akira." He made sure to interject when she introduced herself and offered the paperwork. A chuckle escaped him at the comment of his height. After giving her a quick thank you, he set off for the couch. The paperwork was easily dealt with after that. He's spent a lot of time in the medical field. This was nothing new. [break][break] As soon as Tally made her way back over to him, the male stood from the couch. "Here." As he handed her the papers, he smiled a bit. "I hope my height wasn't too much of an issue for you. Though I'm sure there have been people even taller than me, especially with all the different kinds of species."
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]I wanna be a cowboy, babey
"Akira it is, then!" she replied happily. "And no, your height isn't a problem. It's... been interesting getting to know so many more species. Vandalia was actually a mostly human settlement — I'd never seen a giant until I moved here a couple months ago!"Oh that's probably rude! Oh boy that's probably very rude. Shit shit shit. Cool."Anyway, ahhhh, let's head back to the stables and I'll give you a quick walk-through," she said, leaving the door open behind her. She walked through both lines of stalls, narrating as she went.
"This is what we call the big barn — my apartment is attached, on that side. You already saw the office and the lounge, but I'll be happy to show you the kitchen and the viewing room later! Stalls aren't really given out by preference, but in situations where a horse has some more specific medical needs, they tend to be housed up here," she explained, continuing as they walked outside. "The lower barn, back there, has another ten stalls. And that garage is for feed storage and extra tack. If you end up deciding to shareboard, you can keep a tack trunk here! The Morton building is where we keep the hay and equipment, and beyond that are all the dirt and grass paddocks." She turned around to head back to the big barn. "You probably saw this out front, but we have an outdoor arena for lessons and shareboarders as well as an indoor arena — through that big door. It's heated and insulated for winter riding, although the heater does spook some of the horses. Other than that... oh, yeah, we've got the field! We grow most of our own hay to keep costs down. I'll point it out on our way to the trail. It also features a cross country course, but it's closed for mowing right now, so I can't actually show you around, but it's a gorgeous place to ride if you're ever interested. Not that I'm trying to sell you anything, haha!" she laughed. "I just really love it here, is all!"
By this time, they'd reached the stalls housing Cash and a mildly disgruntled Cozy. "So today, you'll be riding this big guy. His name is Cash, and he's as sure-footed as any horse I've ever met. Such a love!" She leaned in to give him a kiss on the nose as he blinked calmly. ”And I'll be on Cozy here. Take a minute to get to know him, since you'll be good buddies for a while!" she suggested, gesturing to the dark gelding as she sent a quick group text to the hands, letting them know she'd be out for quite a while. "Whenever you're ready, we can lead them out. There's actually, uh, a picnic table we use for mounting. (We'd replace it, but it's the perfect height!) But yeah, let me know when you're ready to hit the trail!"

Whatever racist statement Tally thought herself to have made went right over Akira's head. Not to say he didn't catch anything that could be racist, but he's been alive for over 2000 years. He stopped giving a shit about the little things like this. Tally is a young human, a child (much younger than his own). He couldn't be mad at a fetus. [break][break] Perhaps it might also to do with the fact that she was turning out to be a very excited fetus. Passionate really. He could probably never have the same passion for horses of all things, though his wife totally counts. As she went on about the barn and all of its buildings and the functions of each place, Akira smiled along, nodding where necessary. [break][break] They got to their horses easily enough. Cash seemed to be a very sweet boy (not that he thought Tally would have set him up with a trouble maker). As with all of the horses he met before, Akira offered his hand to sniff at. "He definitely seems like a sweetheart." As the horse licked at his hand, he brought his other hand up to pet Cash's shoulder. Tally finally seemed to finish her little spiel, ending with the comment on mounting with a picnic table. "A picnic table? Not the strangest thing to be mounting a horse on. And I'm ready to go whenever you are, Tally."
[attr="class","kingsLyrics"]I wanna be a cowboy, babey
She watched carefully as he interacted with Cash, judging his movement and comfort level. He's clearly experienced. Although, she thought, I could've seen that from his gear. Someone who dresses like that knows his way around a stable. Tally dragged her gelding out of his stall and tossed a "Follow me, Doctor H— ah, sorry, Akira!" over her shoulder as she walked out. She swung around the side of the building to the green gate separating the paddocks from the parking lot, and hastily wheeled it open in an attempt to stop Cozy from getting into the grass. Once they had both made it out, Tally led them to the picnic table. "Usually people use the mounting block in the arena," she explained. "But since, y'know, we're... both pretty tall, I've found that this actually sets me up at a better height. Much more control and all." She mounted and waited expectantly for Akira to do the same. "Since the field is closed for mowing, I can't take you out the way I usually head. We're going to cross in front of the stable and head up that road. It's a residential street, so nobody drives quickly — and there's signage," she added in case he was concerned. "I do this all the time." The weather was perfect. Tally was of the opinion that nowhere should ever be hotter than 85 degrees (Fahrenheit; she was from the US, after all) and 90 should be record-setting, but fate had been kind to them today, setting the temp to a balmy 73 with a breeze light enough to leave skittish horses unbothered. Clouds scudded across the sky, setting a picturesque background for the trail ride. Not that we'll be able to see it from the forest. Oh well. I wish I ate lunch before this..."Oh, by the way, you know that little side building off the main barn? I know I mentioned it on the tour, but that was my apartment. The owners like to keep someone on hand to deal with night emergencies and all that. I'm pretty sure people around here actually see more of me than the owners, haha!"
